None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

Please join in!

OK, to kick off, here are some of my plans:

Loads of veg
Loads of water
Snacking on fruit only
1 pud a week ...
Veg soup for lunch (till I get bored and think of something else)
Brush teeth after meals to reduce cravings
Reduce sugar, dairy, wheat and fat

yesterday had banana for breakfast, creme egg and half caramel egg for lunch and pick and mix for supper

hopefully this admission will shame me into making slightly healthier choices today

although breakfast so far: 2 black coffees and about a dozen lucky strikes

DoingTheBestICan · 07/01/2010 11:41

I will join in as i need to lose some weight,

yesterday i had

Breakfast - Porridge made with water & a small handful of raisins stirred in.

Lunch - Ham & cucumber sandwich, strawberry yogurt & an apple

Dinner - bowl of three bean & tomato soup & a bread roll (home late due to bad weather)

Plus about 3 coffees & lots of water.

I aim to drink more water & less carbs today.

franch · 07/01/2010 12:33

Not bad so far Franch, i have had porridge again with some raisins & i have had a ham & cucumber salad for lunch.

Am going to make a chicken & spinach curry for dinner.

How are you doing today?

cyanarasamba · 07/01/2010 15:43

Hi - sounds like my kind of thread. Would like to lose half a stone. I try keep a log of what I eat and weigh in once a week.

Today:
2 shredded wheat & s/s milk
piece of stollen
1/2 cheese and pickle baguette
few prawn crackers
clementine

Need to stop snacking! Brushing teeth is a good idea, will go and do that now.

ebayaddict · 07/01/2010 17:11

I'm aiming for the same sort of thing. Want to lose a stone via calorie counting. Have done sw in the past but i'm too greedy to be allowed free foods now that i'm close to target.

I'm recording everything on a website called food focus which seems quite good.

Breakfast - clemantine, 1 weetabix w skimmed milk and tea.

Lunch - Tin of low fat tom soup

Dinner - Roast turkey, mash, swede & carrot with gravy. Still leaves me 300cals for something sweet treat wise this evening.

TootsieSmith · 07/01/2010 17:46

I'd like to join too please. Also want to lose a stone

Today I had a low fat hazelnut yoghurt for breakfast.

For lunch I had a wheat free bagel (i have coeliacs disease) with low fat cream cheese and pesto.

And for dinner tonight I think I am going to have some basmati rice, with grilled vegetables.

I have drank water all day but gonna have some diet coke with dinner...completely addicted to diet coke!

MitchyInge · 07/01/2010 18:49

so far about half an orange

2 slices of toast (quite thickly spready with butter) with big slabs of cheese (courtesy of yard owner)

2 brandies

franch · 07/01/2010 19:32

Hmm, Mitchy!

Hi all. OK, today I had:

fruity date porridge made with water and a bit of soy milk
a few squares 85% dark choc (my addiction)
LemonMagnolia's delicious soup, with 6 oat biscuits and stilton, and plain yogurt
northernsoul's beef bulgogi using wholewheat wraps rather than lettuce but with plenty of cucumber, spring onions and pak choi; half an apple

So not too bad; the cheese and biscuits are the last Christmas treats left in the house, had forgotten about those ...

OP posts:
MitchyInge · 07/01/2010 21:50

must add: bag of revels

I will be good tomorrow!

cyanarasamba · 07/01/2010 21:57

Final score:

Baked potato with butter, cottage cheese & salad-ey veg
Two chocs

Not sure I can cope with only veg soup for lunch - some of you lot are hard core!

When are you doing weigh-ins?

DoingTheBestICan · 08/01/2010 07:23

Well my weigh in is today as i started NYsD & i have lost 5lb this week.

I have our holidays booked for July so i am hoping to have lost 2 stone by then.

Hoping for another good day.

Good luck everyone

cyanarasamba · 08/01/2010 09:35

Doing, 5lb is fantastic! Well done to you, that must be a boost to keep up the good work.

My weigh-in day is monday, which is a bit tricky straight after the weekend....

DoingTheBestICan · 08/01/2010 09:42

Keep yourself busy cyanarasamba i file my nails or put loads of handcream on if i feel the need to nibble.

Just had a bowl of porridge with cinnamon sprinkled over the top & a hot coffee.

I am working later so i probably wont eat a huge dinner today.

franch · 08/01/2010 10:08

5lb!!! Amazing, Doing!!! Well done. What's NYsD?

cyanarasamba - I definitely won't manage only veg soup for lunch! Am planning to get some pumpernickel-style bread, or have oatcakes, plus some fruit.

Fridays and Mondays are good days for weigh-ins - not sure which I'll do yet. I'll leave it till next week as I'm only just getting started.

arsebiscuit · 08/01/2010 10:15

Are we going to do a weekly weigh-in?

DoingTheBestICan · 08/01/2010 10:18

Franch NYsD is New Years day sorry.

franch · 08/01/2010 10:23

That's half hr more than I'm doing as yet, AB! Yes, go for it with the weigh-in when you're ready.

Doing I thought that was an acronym for a new diet!

OP posts:
arsebiscuit · 08/01/2010 10:35

OK, will weigh-in on Monday, or might just put how much i have (hopefully) lost

ebayaddict · 08/01/2010 15:20

Well done on the 5lb. I never lost more than 3 a week whan I was on slimming world

Totalled out at 1062 cals yesterday. Am allowing myself up to 1500 per day as this should give a 2lb per week loss according to food focus.

Weighed in this morning and my starting weight is bang on 13st. Have posted this to shame myself

So far today have had a whole packet of pasta n sauce mac cheese flavour and a mini packet of cookies. Not too good but have a dinner of lamb steaks with new potatoes and broccoli planned for dinner.

I usually exercise at the gym 5 days a week but kids being snowed off of school has messed that up this week.

cyanarasamba · 08/01/2010 16:06

So far today:
2 shredded wheat & s/s milk
ham & tomato sandwich, pack of hula hoops
2 chocs
half a banana, clementine

Bobbybee · 08/01/2010 16:22

Can I join please? I need to log my food and weight to help me keep track.
I'm doing slimming world but haven't made it to a meeting yet! I was meant to go yesterday for the first time but the snow and ice defeated me!

I've been doing it since Monday

My start weight was 11 st exactly.

today I had/will be having

28g shreddies, fat free yoghurt, chopped banana
baked potato, tuna with spring onion, mustard, yoghurt
slim slice of home mede cake
rice and lentils

DoingTheBestICan · 08/01/2010 20:11

A bowl of porridge made with water sprinkled with cinnamon,

Ham & Cucumber sandwich & a small bunch of grapes,

4 crackers,1 banana & an apple.

3 coffees & lots of water today.

Got back from work late so i couldnt be bothered cooking hence the crackers.
