None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

you too sandsweet sounds like your day was excellent
today I have had stressie day ok for food
b cottage cheese, grapefruit, avocado
l cheese sandwich and low cal burger king chicken royale
s the low cal pizza express pizza
on the not so good front, two small glasses of white wine and 4 digestives
but walked at very fast pace for at least two hours

Key for success for me is not eating between meals and thinking about portion size and my hypno thing
eg in past would eat hole grapefruit or avocado, now I think well why not eat half and that seems enough to fill me up
cos healthy would eat masses but now think will have half
anyway wittering on, v stressed out tonigth work thing, goingt to have hot bath now and try and chilll
night all
Egg

hi all,

Haven't posted for a while as had a ropey few days - someone (that'd be me) brought some fairy cakes into the house, then it was pancake day...
Swan, I'm also 5 10. Am just on the verge of looking overweight, iyswim, can just get away with it if I'm v trinny n susannah in what I wear. But a stone off would make all the difference.
Went to the gym 2x this week and on first visit weighed myself for the first time in months. Am nearly 12 stone - I knew it was bad, but crikey...In September at same gym, same scales, I was about 11 st 3lbs. Atleast I'm facing up to it I suppose.
Yesterday, feeling a lot more back on track, I had:
B 2 pancakes w lemon n sugar (leftover batter, what can you do...)
snacks 1 apple 2 bananas
lunch cheese and coleslaw sandwich
supper roast chicken, mash, peas broccoli n gravy. 2 small glasses red wine.
Exercise 5 min cycle, 10 min run at gym (was my lunch hour so short visit).

Keep up the good work everyone.

shortandsweet2 · 19/02/2010 07:06

Morning all

Well I have only lost 0.5 pound of the 1.5 I put on last week. I have been soooooooooooooo good this week and just want to scream. I have been dieting for 2.6yrs and getting really nowhere now. I think by the looks of it we are all hitting a bit of a bad point this week.

tibni · 19/02/2010 14:02

Hi all,

Bad week for me too! Half term combined with lack of will power!

I am on call tonight on the emergency duty rota for the first time and feeling really nervous. Looking at all my training sheets . This is really out of my comfort zone but I have to have a first call at some point - just hope it is a straight foward one!

Next week I will be back on diet with resolve. I have managed to keep to my target exercise and completed my new programme so I am pleased with that.

eggandsoldiers · 19/02/2010 22:29

Hi all,

Good to see you are all still around.
Gawd I am pleasd half term is over, my two just shout all the time, soooo wearing.

I had an ok week not the best, lost .9 kg so pleased. today been bit of a snack a tack evening but not too bad, wine involved so cannot remember all of the blips few nuts here, some cornflakes there. But hey ho. Onwards and downwards all.

I am now 75kg, started at 80, would be so pleased to get to 69kg and have comfortably lost 10kg. Portion size andn not eating between meals. Hopefully can face the protein shake next week, went off it this week after my bug but it did help.

Egg

eggandsoldiers · 20/02/2010 09:43

shortandsweet2 · 20/02/2010 10:22

B - Protein Shake
Gods about the rest of the day

Hope you all have a good weekend.

eggandsoldiers · 20/02/2010 15:01

I have had a bit of a wash out for lunch
lovely bean stew, followed by chocolate ice cream, rollos and chocolate cake and then natural yoghurt and pear.

I just needed a big chocolate hit and feeling better now

TheHappyCamper · 21/02/2010 20:16

Just wanted to say keep trying hard everyone - you can do it! (and don't give up if you had one bad day!)

Had the best day ever yesterday wedding dress shopping!

I tried on 7 dresses and 3 of them were lovely. The 7th dress was just perfect and I knew as soon as I had it on that it was "the one"!!! My SIL started to cry as well which is usually a good sign!

And I was so happy about all the weight I have lost - the sample dress was a 12 and they had to put a bulldog clip on the back to hold it up - the lady said I was "a perfect 10" - I could have kissed her! ... anyway it will arrive in 3 months so I guess I can eat a bit of rubbish between now and then lol!

Keep it up girls

swanriver · 21/02/2010 20:24

I'm back from Eire, slightly thinner I think 73 kg by my scales.
did quite a lot of walking and gps were away so not plied with anything that delicious [sadly] had to cook it all myself
but mum's scales were several pounds out, I jumped off them as if electrocuted

well they may be right, I may now be 76 having previously been a lot more, just need to find some scales which give the truth of the matter - [feeling rather attached to my existng scales which make me feel so thin...

Short and Sweet sorry you are having a frustrating time
Egg I am going downstairs to make hot choc NOW
Tibni hope oncall went smoothly
Tricky I think 11 is impossible goal, but I will try for the 11 st 3 - thanks

eggandsoldiers · 21/02/2010 21:08

Hi all pleased to see some of you are back. been a bit lonesome on here.

Swan, well done you - raring ahead to 70kg.
Camper, well done with your dress sounds nice, what is it like?

Me today
B yog and pear
Lunch roach chicken, gravy cabbage, swede parsnip carrot
S cottage cheese avocado and bits and bobs
good day i think

no chocolate

shortandsweet2 · 22/02/2010 07:22

Happycamper - so glad you found your dress

Swan I think your the 1st to go away and lose weight rather than putting it on

tibni · 22/02/2010 10:38

Happycamper - glad you had such a good time dress shopping.

Swan - scales do vary. I am sticking to the same scales at the gym - also stops me jumping on too often.

egg that does seem a good day - don't worry a tiny bit of chocolate will not cause any damage if you need a little.

I didn't get called out at all but I was nervous all evening. A friend, her dh, dd and ds turned up and I had to try and sort a meal for 8 out of nowhere!

I am back motivated now the dc's are back at school. Today I am going to try and get some housework done as it is suffering after half term.

B - cornflakes
L - soup
D - doing roast dinner so lots of veggies and a veggie main for me.

Have a good day all

eggandsoldiers · 22/02/2010 21:54

hi all
Ds now has the D and V bug. So shattered.

B protein shake, half bit of hm bread
L soup and rice
S cottage cheese, grapefruit, baked potatoes, grapes and bit of cheese, lots of teas not enough water.

Still craving chocolate, maybe I will get some 90 percent stuff tomorrow.

did a bit of cycling to work

swanriver · 23/02/2010 09:52

Egg D & V poor you - maybe just get through the day the best way you can, with whatever it takes foodwise. I think high calorie food can be like medicine in v stressful situation, and you need it.

HappyCamper trying on dresses, what style was the winner?

Good day yest, lots of power walking, no snacks, calorific lunch of kebab and chips with dh in Turkish cafe, but otherwise loads of veg in eve, and bananas etc.

Tired today, bad insomniac night (unusual for me), can't even be bothered to have breakfast, will have another coffee and banana

shortandsweet2 · 23/02/2010 13:01

Egg sorry your DS isn't well, hope he gets better soon.

B - Protein shake
L - Prawn salad
D - Eggs
S - Had a piece of cake

eggandsoldiers · 23/02/2010 22:23

Hi all, thanks for you kind messages
Swan hope you have picked up?
today been a bit of a washout not great
not slept well and had a few blips not disastrous but not diet day
I need chocolate but I cannot find the jar of chocolate sacue that I thought I had in, so being saved from myself

on the good front
three low fat healthy meals, fruit, not enojught water
plus four fruit yoghurs, that is as bad as it gets in my food desert of a home and about 5 digestives
no booze, only got a bottle of luke warm fizz and it does not seem right to open it
going to have a better day tomorrow

ds on the mend

eggandsoldiers · 23/02/2010 22:24

my typos are getting worse, meant to say on the food front not the good front!

shortandsweet2 · 24/02/2010 06:40

Morning all

Egg glad your DS is on the mend. I was like you last night on the hunt for chocolate but didn't have any in.

TOday:
B - Protein shake and piece of toast
L - ??
D - Stuffed chicken breasts, veggies and small amount of spud.

Hope you all have a good day

eggandsoldiers · 24/02/2010 09:36

Shortandsweet it annoying at the tie but after the event it is helpful not to have it in, but did not feel like that last night

Today
B protein shake, roasted bacon and mushroo
L avocado whole and cottage cheese
S not sure yet

You too shortandsweet have a good day all

swanriver · 24/02/2010 13:39

Had a good day yest in the end,
bit of crab pate possibly ott
v. small portions of potato omelette, and then some prawn/tomato pasta with dh later, feta with undressed salad too
drank lots of water
no choc

EGG you must try cocoa with hot water and a bit of sugar, and splash of milk, it really does beat the choc craving and it must be less than choc spread or choc biscuits, also I think it is actually good for you (all that iron in the cocoa plus all the water)

today breakfast has been
tiny bt of flapjack (swimming pool)
bread, jam, feta, mushrooms (raw undressed) for lunch
supper - chilli and rice again and raw veg

just done a swim (v short) and more powerwalking to come throughout the day

seem to be sticking to my 73 kg so that's good, and not going up again

shortandsweet2 · 25/02/2010 09:12

I think it may be that TOTM for me but as I am on the mini pill I never know for certain. My cravings have been going through the roof and had some mini chocolate mallows and a chocolate bar yesterday

Today:
B - Protein shake and piece of HM bread
L - Prawn salad
D - Haddock and veggies

Hope you all have a good day

swanriver · 25/02/2010 09:25

I've had 3 rich tea biscuits as a snack yest with a cuup of tea, it tasted like heaven
but otherwise kept to what I said yest, chilli and rice and loads of raw veg for tea.
More jumping around at Beavers yest.
BUT a generally stressful evening, and not quite enough sleep, and badtempred household this morning..

Water drinking is really helping for that "I don't know what to do with myself" feeling. But it's not TTOTM here, so I think my cravings are yet to come.

The choc craving can be a desire for magnesium amongst other things, have you thought of looking at foods rich in magnesium. Can't remember what they are, but it does help - think it is green leafy ones, though it doesn't sound anything like choc fix

shortandsweet2 · 25/02/2010 09:28

Thanks for that swan, I have spinach in my salad so hopefully that might work today

Even my DH has said he hasn't seen my cravings like this for a long time.

swanriver · 25/02/2010 14:33

Also magnesium is in pumpkin seeds and black beans apparently, but not much in broccoli!

for lunch I've eaten
pasta with a bit of crab pate on it
raw tomato
water
apple

supper - not sure bt all over the place today foodplanning wise, possibly a lot of kale and onion and beans
