None of the other threads quite fit the bill, so here goes: I want to lose 1 stone and get healthy.

Have tried lots of diets in the past so am going to be experimenting a bit I think, starting with some fairly generalised 'healthy eating', especially increasing my veg intake. And hopefully some exercise ...

Most of the Christmas treats are now scoffed, kids went back to school today, so I'm starting now and will get really serious once I have the chance to shop!

eggandsoldiers · 09/01/2010 20:30

Chunkyrice · 09/01/2010 20:34

DoingTheBestICan · 09/01/2010 20:40

Great,the more the merrier.

Bobbybee · 10/01/2010 10:17

I wrote off yesterday too. I was good until the evening when things went a bit crazy and I just ended up eating toast and crisps for dinner!

Today I've had for breakfast
30g fruit n fibre cereal, chopped banana, fat free yoghurt
lunch will be 2 quorn sausages and beans
dinner is stir fried salmon and veg, rice noodles.
snacks are satsuma and apple.

ebayaddict · 10/01/2010 13:02

yesterday was

2 weetbix w skimmed milk
scrambled eggs on borwn toast no butter
orange & apple
cottage pie with cauli cheese - low fat ready meals.

I came out a 1500 cals but I burnt 700 at they gym so that's ok

Had a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast but off to the pub for lunch so may get messy.

arsebiscuit · 10/01/2010 13:31

Have had to write-off this weekend, had pizza and chips last night and cheese on toast this morning But was good during the week so hopefully it won't make too much difference.

MarjoryMoores · 10/01/2010 13:40

I need to join you all - could do with losing a stone but would be happy with 7lbs

Yesterday was a nightmare
Brunch - bacon, eggs and beans
Afternoon snack - xmas cake & lemon drizzle cake (we still have loads of goodies leftover from xmas and can't bear to throw them out)
Dinner - 6 crackers and cheddar cheese - pear
Just before bed - a caramal bar to cheer myself up .

Onto today - good intentions ahead
Bfast - tea and yoghurt
Lunch - veg soup and bread
Dinner - roast chicken and vegs

Must try not to eat anymore xmas cake - the snow is really stopping me from walking anywhere as the paths are so slippery so haven't been out for what feels like days!

MarjoryMoores · 10/01/2010 13:43

Am also cutting out all alcohol for january so hope that should help me on my way!

eggandsoldiers · 10/01/2010 15:26

Today so far
Turkey leg meat plus roasted vegetables
Porridge
Cups and cups of black coffee

Going well. My general plan is to have two large bowls of porridge a day, made with no milk and with one tbsp brown sugar as and when I HAVE to have it.

One meal which is high in protein, veggies and lower in carbs

Up to four pieces of fruit for emergencies.

Wine only at weekends. And aiming to go to gtm at least three times a week.

DoingTheBestICan · 11/01/2010 09:44

Yesterday i had,

Porridge with blueberries

Carrot & butterbean soup

Jacket potato with cheesey beans (comfort food cos its still snowing here)

Lots of cups of tea too.

DoingTheBestICan · 11/01/2010 12:57

eggandsoldiers · 11/01/2010 17:27

Rather horrid barley soup mix thing which I made but which no doubt is low GI
Some berries
Some tea
I want WINE though last night out of desperation drank ten year old sherry

And it is going really well so keep going all

DoingTheBestICan · 11/01/2010 18:15

Well today i have had,

porridge made with water & sprinkled with raisins

veg soup & a bread roll

Chicken curry & rice

Lots & lots of cups of tea as well, its bloody freezing here & still snowing,so too cold to drink water.

Oh & 1/2 a banana & 1/2 an apple that ds kindly shared with me

Bobbybee · 11/01/2010 20:23

I'm still here too!

Porridge made with water
banana
baked potato and beans
apple
chickpea and spinach curry with cous cous

I've been logging my food on foodfocus and have had 1246 cals today. I'm a bit disappointed as I've used all my cals and was hoping to have a few left over for a bit of choc with a cuppa. Never mind. I'll have to try to save some tomorrow. (I was doing sw by myself but I haven't lost any weight in a week despite sticking to it properly so have changed tactics)

shortandsweet2 · 12/01/2010 11:16

Hi Ladies

Could I join please. I am following foodfocus (cal counting) and think this thread might be more suited to me.

Today I will be having
Porridge with s/s milk
homemade soup for lunch and dinner with crackerbreads.
Satsumas and a small banana

Exercise will be cycling to and from work (6 miles) gym for about 45m and then a walk to my childminders and back (about 2 miles)

ebayaddict · 12/01/2010 17:27

Shortandsweet & Bobbybee - i'm doing food focus too. Too greedy for SW to work for the last stone. Allowed 1534 cals per day before exercise for a 2lb per week loss.

Today I have had

ready brek w skimmed milk
2 boiled eggs, 2 slices granary bread & packet of walkers baked crisps (only 99 cals for a pack)
small portion of homemade beef stew with 4 new potatoes
an orange

That comes to 1176cals

I did a 5k run and 3 k bike ride (536 cals) at the gym today so have some leeway for a treat later

Bobbybee · 12/01/2010 20:28

Hi

Today I had

porridge made with water
skinny cappuccino
apple
potato and watercress soup
salad with 4bits of sweet potato and a heaped tablespoon of coleslaw (rest was salad and veg)
leftover chickpea curry and cous cous
a nibble of ds's marmite on toast and a couple of spoons of chicken stirfy noodles

Foodfocus has told me thats about 1000 cals. I could have a little treat today.

Well done Short and Ebayaddict on all your exercise!
I'm going to do an exercise dvd tomorrow

Bobbybee · 12/01/2010 22:17

just wanted to add a mini bag of choc buttons at 75cals. Yum.

eggandsoldiers · 13/01/2010 07:04

I am still here
Yesterday was quite good considering how much stress was involved
On the bad side wine and one packet of rollos
but the rest was on track
porridge, lentil soup and rice and brown rice and low fat curry

How are you all doing

eggandsoldiers · 13/01/2010 07:20

just discovered the food focus site, looks really good, signed up to it, any tips on best featurs of the site?

shortandsweet2 · 13/01/2010 07:28

Hi all

Today it's porridge again with half water and milk with some berries
Lunch is soup and crackers
Dinner is eggs beans and toast (feeling lazy today and yesterday)
Snacks grapes & yogurt

Eggandsoldiers - I suppose the best feature is the food log, keeps you on track, it does take a bit to get used to it but after a day or 2 you will be wizzing through it. Any questions just ask.

Exercise - Walking 8 miles, can't cycle today as more snow!

Bobbybee · 13/01/2010 09:27

Have had a bad night. Ds2 was sick everywhere (inc ds1'a bed!)at 3am. I have been washing clothes/bedding/cuddly toys since 3am!

This is when I usually start craving sugar to deal with tiredness and low energy levels.
I must stay strong!

I've had breakfast (porridge and toast - 300cals) and I'm going to do my exercise dvd at around 10.30

shortandsweet2 · 13/01/2010 12:31

Bobby sorry to hear about your poor DS and you, not nice having that to deal with.

Good luck on staying away from the sugar

I have just had a teacake (106 cals) very yummy!

Bobbybee · 13/01/2010 12:49

Thanks Short
So far so good. I've done my workout so I'm pleased about that.
Just had a large baked potato with cottage cheese and salad for lunch (412 cals) so I'm feeling really full. Hopefully that will keep cravings at bay.

I have an apple and satsuma for a snack later and salmon with veg for dinner.

I'll have some cals left for some chocolate with tea later. I'm trying to look forward to that so I don't cave in now!
