These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost around 45lbs.

I’m maintaining at 9st 2lb but I would like to get back into the 8’s 🤞

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

New members … Give it a go; it’s never too late! You'll be pleased you did 😊

Well we made home made pizza for lunch as had family over, and ended up having left overs for dinner. My insides are not thanking me 😩

Not going to attempt a walk tomorrow as storms forecast, so we’ll head to the gym instead, then the cinema and lunch. What’s everyone else got planned while avoiding the storms?

ChelseaDetective · 13/09/2025 22:36

No breakfast (I’ve never been able to eat first thing)

Yoghurt and apples for lunch

Miso soup with broccoli, itsu gyozas and an omelette followed by a cup of tea with milk and a square of chocolate for dinner

I’ll have another apple and a mug of cocoa before bed. I know, its not ‘ideal’ but If I don’t plan a supper and then draw the line I always end up eating in a much more uncontrolled way around midnight so that’s non negotiable.

I was 1 stone 2 lbs down last Monday but am expecting a gain this week as I’ve been slipping back into eating like DH (pizza, pasta, potatoes and bread) this week.

Aiming to at least have ‘stopped the rot’ by next Monday’s weigh in.

dayslikethese1 · 13/09/2025 23:55

I should try that chelsea been doing late night snacking on leftovers lately as can't sleep, maybe if I have some kind of bedtime snack and a soothing beverage that would help.

WearyAuldWumman · 14/09/2025 10:45

I'm sticking at 14st 3lbs. snazzle frazzle

At least I'm not gaining.

biscuitcat · 14/09/2025 18:05

Slightly over all weekend on calories - it’s the weather I think. I need to get into the habit of rainy miserable weather being associated with lovely vegetable soups and stuff rather than desserts and heavy, creamy dishes! And get a handle on portion sizes again, they’re creeping up which is having an impact.

Menu today was:

B - yoghurt, honey, strawberries
L - ham and cheese sandwich with some crisps
D - chicken paprikash with dumplings
Snacks - popcorn and grapes

Hope it’s not been as miserable and rainy for everyone as it has been for us!

PreetyinPurple · 14/09/2025 19:11

I’ve also be over my calories, had a lunch out, takeaway with DD, had a rare drink last night. Also had to skip a few days exercise as had a small injury.
was slightly up this morning, but I have been to the gym. I didn’t think I tried hard enough but I’ve been tired this afternoon
Must try harder at reducing the calories and exercising this week, must work eventually.

FridayNighFeeling · 14/09/2025 20:19

Hi all, checking in after a few days which obviously means it's not gone too well Wink
Friday and Saturday were not great, but maintenance calories rather than full scale blow out and today has been under. I've meal prepped 3x pasta salad with spring onion and sweetcorn and chicken in and then will add lettuce and cucumber before eating. Comes in at 400 calories, so good to help stick to the plan.

I had hoped to get to a stone loss this week, but doubt that I will, but ho hum.

Keep going everyone, improving habits is definitely a bonus separate to weight loss.

socks1107 · 14/09/2025 20:23

I’ve lost the weight since my night out Tuesday and back to that. Really conscious now as two weeks to holiday

TheWayTheLightFalls · 14/09/2025 20:58

Ok here. Tried to make Persian eggs for breakfast today but only found baked beans instead of tinned toms so had some sort of baked bean curry Confused. It was tasty though.

Lunch - one toasted sandwich.

Dinner - chicken wrap, roast potatoes.

Biscuits, coffee.

Monday is normally OMAD for me, or two meals before midday or so. Let’s see.

WearyAuldWumman · 14/09/2025 23:00

Did a 4 minute HIIT warm up on the treadmill. Three sets of 10 at 35 kg on the low row with angel wings in between. 3 sets of 10 leg curls - only 15 kg. Couldn't get on the leg extension machine and gave up.

Did some lunges. 10 sets of 10 side lunges with a 6kg dumbbell; the same for twists.

The senior flex trainer was on duty and had a chat with me. He took me to weigh myself in kilograms. He reckons I'm not that fat for my height, but he's not seen my belly!

My weight came up at almost 92kg. The trainer reckoned I'm only 90 when you make allowances for shoes and clothes, but I'm not convinced. So far as I'm aware, I'm still a size 18 with a fat belly.

Apparently, they've got a new scale that's much more accurate for fat and muscle than the old variety, so I'm supposed to try that at some point this week.

FridayNighFeeling · 15/09/2025 12:49

Well done for getting on the scales in front of someone @WearyAuldWumman

Got on the scales and STS, will weigh again Wednesday and Friday to see what's what.

B: hot choc and raspberry danish (out for coffee with a friend)
L: pasta salad (made with Fage yogurt and mustard dressing so low cals, high protein)
S: melon
T: roast chicken dinner

I've also got a sore back/hip so it's been gentle stretching rather than anything exciting and it's far too windy today to be out for a walk, but did manage one yesterday and will also be out tomorrow.

ChelseaDetective · 15/09/2025 13:46

@dayslikethese1 It makes dieting doable for me.

I’m 54 and 4’11” so I’ve only 1000 calories a day to play with and I can easily eat more than that number just in prolonged bedtime snacking if I’ve not had my apple and cocoa and told myself that eating is now over for the day.

I find a lower carb diet very satisfying so I’m not usually hungry exactly, bedtime eating is just a lifetime of habit and I know I’ll never break it completely.

Monday! its weigh day and I’m a pound up on last week. Not unexpected though as I was home alone last week and things like pizza and corn snacks crept back in. Which made me hungry and unhappy as I wanted more corn snacks!

Can’t undo the last two months work though so trying not to snack today and get off the white carbs again.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 15/09/2025 19:09

OMAD-ish today. Ate a steak and some grilled tomatoes mid-morning, and biscuits for dessert. Then a few Asian soft drinks - the ones with lychee etc pieces inside, which claim to be around 50cals each, bit suspiciously given how delicious they are. And then coffees here and there.

Left to my own devices I eat strangely!

Had a delivery of the prepped / healthy ready meals I sometimes order today, so that's tomorrow-Fri sorted hopefully.

frostedshreddie · 15/09/2025 19:51

30 mins strength workout completed this morning ✅
Breakfast: bagel, eggs, mackerel and berries
Lunch: chocolate protein shake
Dinner: m&s bang bang chicken
1530 calories

Today was first full day with both children at school, DH in London = whole day to myself 🧘🏻‍♀️
Do u know what I did? Absolutely nothing. 🤣
I read my book, watched TV, drank coffee and napped.
It was bloody amazing!!

LemonDrizzle23 · 15/09/2025 21:13

@frostedshreddie bloody good for you! That sounds like an amazing day 😂

I had a poor weekend food-wise. Saturday, lots of pizza with guests and Sunday, was full of shit comfort food. Like not even decent autumn comfort food. Crisps and chocolate. Was having a bit of a crap day, but feels like a bit of a waste of calories now.

Back on it today though:
16,000 steps
smashed my move ring
kept to my calories

Tried some “under the bed because they’re too small” clothes on this evening. A pair of jeans and a couple of jumpers fit so that’s a bonus. The rest is still too small. But we’re getting there 💪🏻

PatienceOfEngels · 16/09/2025 07:26

Had a lovely weekend - keeping busy stopped me snacking. Watching DC sport Saturday morning, watching TV in the afternoons (and falling asleep on the sofa), art workshop with other DC and then a sushi takeaway, lovely thick winter soup on Sunday (made by someone else so tasted even better!), and cycle along the river.

Stayed on track yesterday:
-boiled egg, rye toast with butter, coffee with milk
-fruit
-spicy carrot and lentil soup with 2 slices wholemeal bread and cream cheese
-greek yoghurt and honey
-green beans in coconut and soy sauce with rice and breaded fish
-square of dark mint chocolate
-got my steps in with full day of work and hobby in the evening.

Today:
same breakfast, fruit.
Lunch might be homemade flatbreads and falafel/salad/garlic sauce
Dinner is chicken casserole with mash and green veg
will cycle to DC training. heading out for a walk in a bit. May avoid the woods though after very high winds yesterday.

weight currently averaging at 75.2 for the week (same as last week) and was 75.1 this morning. Only 0.2kg to reach my September goal of getting under 75kg.

Alwayslearning25 · 16/09/2025 07:46

Depressingly a had a alarm on y phone that I'd met the 3 months target date to go from 73 to 65 kg and in 74.

So I've not done much on dieting recently. Have bought some bigger clothes because I had a very limited wardrobe and was squeezing into too small clothes.

Question about tummy's. I love jeans but they either fall down below my tummy or, using a belt dig into my tummy because I have lost some weight there but there's lots flabbyness (2 children too). I could do with braces.... anyone have good options!

socks1107 · 16/09/2025 08:04

I’m desperate. I’ve bounced back up today and I just do not know what to do to loose 7lbs in ten days. I know nothing.
I’ve gone back and I’ve lost 4lbs in 9 weeks. I keep to calorie goal, I exercise and no my measurements haven’t changed. I feel
so desperate this morning and confused with the whole thing I’m furious going on another holiday not at goal and fat. Won’t relax as I’ve no buffer to gain any weight so I’ll come back heavier and be stuck again.
I swim, I work out I eat what the nutritionists say at nutracheck I do not understand tbh.

a very depressed socks 🥺

Determinedloser · 16/09/2025 08:19

@socks1107 id do a new calorie calculation on one of the TDEE calculators. If you’re sticking to your calories and not losing then really the only answer is that the calories are too high.

FridayNighFeeling · 16/09/2025 08:19

Morning all

Keep plodding @socks1107 are you eating enough? Sorry there are so many of us it's hard to keep track of who is doing what... calorie counting? Focus on protein and fibre?

I am absolutely flabbergasted because I'm 1kg/2lbs lighter than yesterday. I tell you being a woman sucks! But it is 0.2lbs off the stone that I wanted to reach (ideally 2 more to go). I'm sleeping so badly which is making it hard to stay on track, but going for a lovely walk in nature/sunlight this morning and try my hardest.

Still got pasta salad for lunch and making risotto for tea - looking forward to it already!

I think I’m going to have too, I do them regular but clearly I’m getting it wrong somewhere.
Nutracheck nutritionist told me to up my calories about 5 weeks ago and I’ve lost 1/2 a pound since. I’ve literally cried this morning, I feel they’ve got it so wrong and I’ll not make my holiday goal.
I’ll redo the calculation and see what it says. Activity I find hard to gauge. I’m desk based but do a minimum of 10k steps a day, a swim once a week, weights x4 a week and a full gym work out once a week. The nutritionist says I’m highly active but I think my desk based job balances that out to not really as I’m sitting for long periods in the day. But then I get really shaky and hungry by 5pm and I’ve 1.45 commute so that can be miserable so hungry.
after 9 months I think I’m fatigued with it all and a week off in holiday will probably do me good

TheWayTheLightFalls · 16/09/2025 08:57

Socks I would set activity level to “Sedentary” just in case that is the issue / exercise calories being overestimated. I’m sorry, plateaus are shit. I hope you enjoy your holiday food and all.

PreetyinPurple · 16/09/2025 09:50

I’ve technically lost nothing this month, I just drop up and down around the same weight. I go to the gym 3 times a week, go to a class. I have greatly reduced what I was eating 3 months ago. So total sympathy @socks1107
when I was very fit before there was a point where I increased my calories to lose weight, I don’t know if I am there, or I need to go lower. It’s incredibly confusing.

LemonDrizzle23 · 16/09/2025 10:53

@socks1107I also had to go on holiday at the end of August having lost nowhere near as much as I wanted to beforehand. I was so annoyed! I did enjoy the holiday, but I’d be lying if it said I didn’t have a bit of a sulk putting suncream on my still large body several times a day. I avoided booze and ice cream and concentrated on seafood and didn’t end up really putting any real weight on while we were away. Next hot break is June 2026, so I just decided that I’ll be slim for the next one 🙈 Hopefully you’ll still manage to enjoy yourself!

Back to pre “weekend of junk” weight this morning. September goal is tantalisingly close.

socks1107 · 16/09/2025 11:07

Thank you everyone! I should’ve be so down about it I’ve lost 37lbs this year abs two dress sizes so I do look better just not as good as I wanted.
turns out the nutritionist was wrong according to tdee calculators and I should’ve trusted my gut a month ago.
ill drop to 1200 next ten days, up to maintenance on holiday and the settle for 1400 a day when home for the last stone and a half. Very frustrating as I was on target and she has thrown me off and delayed progress for four weeks. Not impressed by I shall plod on.

I may even have the odd breakfast pancake on holiday 😃
