Hi

As my user name says this summer the Ryan Air seatbelt did not fit.
Yesterday I had to sit on a wooden deck chair and I found myself trying to Google what the weight limit could be

So tomorrow I start a diet.
So many threads on Mumsnet are for people much smaller than me
I'm 18 stones and 5lbs.

Please feel free to join if you are seriously overweight, please don't join if you are just averagely fat.

Hello. I’ll join you - about 1 week into restarting weight watchers…. I’m a similar weight to you but I’m planning to start with just shifting a stone to begin with or the hurdle feels too big! Finding it tricky cutting out the snacks but have managed so far… did it once before successfully lost maybe 3 stone ish. Although im heavy I don’t look the weight I am (thankfully!!) but noticing the less energy, slowly adding more weight on and something needs to change….. are you following a plan? I’m 5ft 7inc and size 18.

SeatbeltExtender · 08/09/2024 23:13

Hi

I haven't got any particular plan in mind. I wish I did.
I'm going to come up with something!
Not injections though.
I'm quite sedentary with a work from home desk job so I need to move more. I have just had a week off so no temptations that way.
DD off to Uni soon so I can openly moan about food. I don't want to talk about diets in front of her.

Hi, I'm 5ft 3 and 16 stone 0, and relate to the worrying about seat belts and weight limits! I carry weight on my stomach and face so look every pound of my current weight. If the NHS offered me injections I'ld take them, but I'm not going out of my way to obtain them. Current plan is calorie counting and walking more. First goal is to be able to comfortably fit size 18 clothes, so not having rely on M&S/supermarkets.

Jettyspaghetti · 09/09/2024 08:04

So this thread has just made me weigh myself. I've put on nearly a stone since January.
So currently 16st4.
I just need to stop eating so much, I'm not even hungry most of the time, it's just boredom.

wonderingwhatlifemeans · 09/09/2024 08:11

I'm a bit of an odd one but here goes! I had bariatric surgery and lost 10 stone. I then regained 2 and that 2 has been bouncing on and off ever since. I currently weigh 17 stone 1 pound so I am still obese.

The problem is I still have Crohn's disease and PCOS which means injections are a no for me and dieting is difficult. I was told that I only need 800 calories a day and over that will mean an increase.

I used to be much more active and even did 2 half marathons but I am more of a hermit since covid. I do need to stop that.

I am a primary teacher currently waiting out my redundancy time before hopefully starting a new job. I need to eat less rubbishy snacks and get back to walking every day. I can do it.

TwirlyWitch · 09/09/2024 09:09

Starting today. I’m 5ft and almost 13 stone so have 4 stone to lose for a healthy BMI. I’ve already lost over 50lbs using weight loss medication which I have stopped due to cost.
The plan is to track everything that passes my lips on nutracheck, 1300kcals per day and upping my exercise to 2 x brisk dog walks a day.

SeatbeltExtender · 09/09/2024 13:17

By now I'd have usually eaten loads.

I have yoghurt for breakfast and a hot chocolate and scone for lunch.
This wasn't the best choice but I'm short on time today.
I'm going to need some easy lunches so that I stop grazing.

I'm 16stone and only 5ft 2 so my BMI is just over 40. I've been sedentary on recent years due to some health problems and also have neuralgia and fatigue which makes it harder. I'm also on some meds which cause weight gain which doesn't help.

I've thought about the injections ut can't really afford them and worry about side effects and what happens when you stop them.

Have spoken to the GPs about obesity and they will refer me to Tier 3 and are trying me with metformin despite me not having diabetes, it can help a bit with obesity apparently.

I've been reading a book called Health at Every size which is quite interesting, for now trying to focus on eating healthily despite the weight rather than dieting as such as I find it just makes me binge to restrict too much. For now anyway.

SeatbeltExtender · 09/09/2024 16:51

My BMI is 40.6
I have never been lower than 33 in the last 20 years.

I certainly feel worse now than ever.

Like wondering I also have a bowel condition and advised to have a low fibre diet, so that means things like white bread, ice cream instead of fibre, not easy really is it

Jettyspaghetti · 09/09/2024 19:24

Today's not been a great day food wise.
I've eaten a bowl of Coco pops (like the adult I am) at 7am
A Greggs sausage bun at 10.30am
A pizza 7.30pm

My friends bought me some doughnuts to cheer me up, so I'll enjoy one or two of them later.

Then try again tomorrow. 😁

Sunblocker · 09/09/2024 21:21

I’m in! 17st 9lb and 5’6”. So so so sick of being fat. I’m 55 so feel like maybe I’ve left it too late. I don’t know where to start really. One minute I’m keto, the next I’m calorie counting but I love wine and that’s my downfall!!! I so wish that I could stick to a healthy way of eating. Just totally embarrassed and ashamed of what I look like now!

SeatbeltExtender · 09/09/2024 22:24

@Sunblocker same age and height as me.

I'll join, but I'm really struggling to get started.
Thought I was about 16 stone, but weighed yesterday for the first time in a few months and am 17 st 5.
43 years old and 5 ft 2.
Really noticing it now, it's making me rather uncomfortable, can't bend down easily, one of my knees has started hurting and swelling.
Couldn't go on a ride at cbeebies land earlier in the year cos the barrier wouldn't come down far enough 😳 only just fit the plane belt round me...
Really need to do something!

EvangelineFox · 09/09/2024 23:43

Oh gosh. Weighed myself this morning in the hope that I'd lost a few pounds over summer - stayed off the ice cream, walked a bit more - nope, I'm still 15st Sad I'm 5'5" which gives me a BMI of 35. Heaviest I've ever been and it's starting to absolutely knacker my joints! Hoping to join a walking group this week but desperately need a decent sports bra, am too big for my old ones Blush

SeatbeltExtender · 10/09/2024 13:01

What's everyone eating

My breakfast was 2 x seeded bread with lower fat Lurpack and Marmite
Glass of milk ( worried about my bones)

Snack hot choc ( instant low cal) 2 x bourbon biscuits

Lunch 4 x Ryvita and Boursin cheese with tomatoes and cucumber.
I know Boursin isn't a diet choice but it needs using up.
I can't throw good food away.

I have some 10 calorie jellies for my next sweet craving

Still planning tonight's dinner

I'm not mindlessly stuff my face at my desk like I have been

Marking my place.

Orangesandlemons77 · 10/09/2024 14:31

I've ordered some cauliflower rice and sweet potato rice off amazon to go with some protein at mealtimes, I'm also liking this raspberry frozen yoghurt from Waitrose (I really like ice cream so trying that instead). The yeo valley frozen kefir is also nice.

SeatbeltExtender · 10/09/2024 17:06

I have gained 3 stone in the year I have been working from home.

AliasGraceful · 10/09/2024 18:11

Hi 😀 I'm not actively dieting as I am a master of art self sabotage, instead trying to be more aware of my nutrition and take small healthier steps. Early 50s, over 16 stone, 5'5". My health is suffering and I'm deficient in multiple vitamins, I have no energy - it's like I hit a wall and collapse. Hoping for accountability!!!

Orangesandlemons77 · 10/09/2024 18:32

Hope you can read this Ok, think it is a share token? It's about people being fat but exercise meaning they are more healthy / store fat under the skin rather than around organs.

I found it quite interesting, I think instead of dieting I might try exercising more. Which is not easy when fat. Swimming is good though.

I had an MRI of the liver last year and despite the weight did not have a fatty liver. Which I guess is good. Not being complacent though.

SeatbeltExtender · 11/09/2024 08:23

Started today with a high protein yoghurt

It's a real struggle being surrounded by food all day at home.
