Lose 50lbs with me!

Cookiedough123 · 05/08/2023 11:48

Hi I just thought I would start my own thread so I can post daily!

I have recently started fasting and I am 10 days in and lost nearly 6lbs!

SW 15st 6.8
CW 15st 1

GW under 12st!

I am using a few apps to help.. Happy Scales.. I like the way this breaks it into 10 milestones so I have smaller weight goals to aim for. And Zero to track how many hours I have fasted. I have never tried fasting before but I feel like it’s using my willpower which I needed reminding that I had! MyFitnessPal i find if I don’t track my calories I forget what I’ve eaten. My goal is 1400 a day. And finally Fitbit.. I’m aiming for 10000+ steps a day.

Im a serial calorie counter! I got down to under 10st about 7 years ago and as amazing as I felt, I also felt amazing at 12st as my clothes were much more flattering on me. I had a baby last year and I’m nearly 10 months postpartum, frustratingly I actually lost weight after I had my son as I was so sick during pregnancy and then I have found breastfeeding made me super hungry and I piled weight on by constantly snacking. The breastfeeding has cut right down now and I am finding I am not as hungry and needed to kick myself into gear.

I have attached a pic of my MyFitnessPal weight log since 2015 to show how up and down I am!

I'll join you. I want to get under 10 so into a healthy BMI. I'm really guilty of yo-yoing but I'm so fed up, nothing fits, and I really don't want to be this weight next summer.

Sugarfree23 · 08/08/2023 10:07

@Cookiedough123 how often are you weighing yourself?

If I'm trying to loose I tend to weight daily.

Cookiedough123 · 08/08/2023 22:54

Glad you can join! Im weighing every day! I went for a meal Sunday for my partners birthday so I went slightly up and I’m now on 15st 1.8! Need to lose that .8. Dying to get in the 14 bracket.

What are you doing to lose yours? Are you weighing much?

I can’t believe how many less calories I am eating by skipping breakfast and going straight to lunch. I’m quite good at not snacking after my tea anyway it seems to just be in a morning once I start I can’t stop!

Cookiedough123 · 08/08/2023 22:56

Sorry @Sugarfree23 just seen you said you’re doing daily. I find doing daily keeps you accountable for what you’re eating. I had this 3 course meal on Sunday and it wasn’t worth the gain after I had been going on a nice downward trend.

I'll join you! I have a nine month old, I'm the same in that I didn't put on much in pregnancy but breastfeeding undid my careful work. DS wasn't putting on weight quickly enough so I was advised to up my calories and it was a slippery slope from there!

I have been getting good results with intermittent fasting but have slipped a bit over the holidays. I weigh myself in kg because I don't know what it means- stones are too scary 😂. I am currently at 99kg which is 15.58 stone so similar. That's a bit up on a couple of weeks ago but down from 107kg in January so I'm fairly pleased and also determined not to cross the 100kg threshold ever again!

Sugarfree23 · 08/08/2023 23:45

@Cookiedough123 nothing worse standing on the scales and they are going in the wrong direction.

Years ago I attended a Slimming World meet and they made a comment that the scales reflect what you ate 4 days ago. Might have been SW nonsense because I can't find anything ot back it up. But its its something to keep in mind.

@greenmarsupial don't go too hard on yourself. Your still feeding and dealing with a small baby.

Royalsrumbled · 08/08/2023 23:56

I will join you! Will weigh in tomorrow morning x

Cookiedough123 · 09/08/2023 09:13

Well this morning I was 15st 1.8 and I’ve been good but up .8 since yesterday! @Sugarfree23 that would probably make sense though if I had my meal 4 days ago!

So I started being better 2 weeks ago so ive lost so far…

Week 1 -3.8lb
Week 2 -1.6

Total -5.4
@greenmarsupial breastfeeding just made me hungry CONSTANTLY. But I found that because I didn’t have time to actually make myself food I just snacked on rubbish!

But at least my graph is still showing a downward trend - I do love some good graphs and statistics so feel free to share 😂

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/08/2023 09:30

Please can I join? I'm on couple of these threads, and it really seems to help me stay motivated so more the merrier!

I started June 16th at 15st 9lbs

Current weight: 14st 9lbs

Target weight: 10st

I am approaching things in a very similar way to OP. 16:8 fasting (which essentially for me has meant cutting out breakfast as I eat early in the evening anyway). Tracking on MFP and trying to up my step count.

I still have a long way to go but my sister is getting married next August (2024) so trying to keep that as a longer term focus.

However, taking it step by step. Next mini goal is to fit comfortably into my size 16 jeans and move out of the 14 stone bracket.

Good luck all xx

Royalsrumbled · 09/08/2023 09:31

Have just weighed - 13st 8lbs 😭 Almost half a stone gained since my holiday. 1 slice of wholemeal toast and a cup of coffee for breakfast this morning x

luter · 09/08/2023 09:41

I'm in.
Was 15st on Monday.
Was 15st4 about 3 weeks ago, been careful about what I'm eating, but had a holiday and I always struggle in the school holidays as I'm at home.
Trying to stop snacking (I'm a serial grazer).
I've also got my birthday tomorrow (meal out and DC want to make a cake!) and my period is due at the weekend, so it's going to be a tricky few days.

Morecoffeepleaseee · 09/08/2023 09:43

I'll join you too, if that's OK? I'm 40lbs down since January, but my losses have slowed recently. I have another 30lbs to go. Currently doing low carb and 16/8, but finding it hard as I have a toddler and getting little sleep.

Sugarfree23 · 09/08/2023 10:57

@Cookiedough123
What app are you using to get the graphs?

I've just realised it's 20 weeks to Christmas - that could be a stone and half - maybe eveb 2 stone.

Minglemangle007 · 09/08/2023 11:17

Hi there, serial dieter here and hit my heaviest a few months ago. Back on ww and have exactly 50lb to lose to get to bmi of 25!
SW 14.2
CW 13.9
Have given myself a year.

20 weeks until Christmas is a good milestone target! Thank you for that reminder. I'm hoping to do IF and low carb.. my husband goes away for work next week and I always find it much easier to lose weight when he's away. My downfall is usually not eating anything at all until so late in the day that I eat anything and everything in sight. I'm hoping IF will help to curb that behaviour xx

DRS1970 · 09/08/2023 11:20

I have more chance of losing £50 than 50lb... 🤗

Bobbinsbop · 09/08/2023 11:27

Can I join you?
serial dieter now weigh around 14.7 ideally I want to get to 11.7.
feels impossible right now I seem to manage a couple of days then go off it again. Trying to think of it as a lifestyle change and now a diet so I’m not giving myself a goal date.

LadyBirdsLoveEm · 09/08/2023 11:32

I need to lose about this much too.

My youngest starts school in September and I'm really looking forward to having a bit more time for me and my well being.

I ordered a fitness watch the other day so I can track steps, and am thinking of using a calorie tracking app (if anyone can recommend or compare that'd be super helpful as I've never used one before).

I can't start just yet but will hop on board as soon as I can if that's okay. 🙂 Will be nice to chat to others in the same boat and encourage each other along.

Cookiedough123 · 10/08/2023 10:45

Well today I was 15st 1.4 so 0.4 off! I’m going away on Saturday and I really wanted to hit the under 15 bracket which looks unlikely! And then I will have no scales for a week! But we will be doing lots of walking so I am not too worried! Hoping to either stay the same or lose a little!

@Bumblebeebum23 a stone off already that’s amazing! Well done!
@Royalsrumbled I always think when I step on the scales for the first time in a while that it could of been worse!
@Sugarfree23 on my first post that was my all time weights on my fitness pal but I don’t really use that to track. I’m using happy scale - which is the graph I posted yesterday! I like it as it gives you mini milestones and I’m already down 1 milestone! It works best when you have lots of data as it shows you your trends and average loss over the week. Mine is currently showing an average loss of -2.58 a week.
@DRS1970 I can also lose that in a day! Wish weight loss was as quick 😂
@Bobbinsbop yes welcome! I always think the first few days are the hardest! I have found now I’m not eating rubbish all the time I have so much more energy and feel better within myself and that spurs me on to eat well also!
@LadyBirdsLoveEm hop in whenever! I have a Fitbit.. I do fancy an I watch but I’m also trying to cut down on impulsive spending so im just keeping with my Fitbit for now! I’ve managed to do over 10000 steps for over a week now!

Well done on your loss today!! I will weigh in the morning as by the time I remembered to weigh this morning, I'd already drank a bottle of water so knew that would have some effect. Xx

Cookiedough123 · 11/08/2023 09:00

No loss today - I am 15st 1.4 again! They are the most frustrating days when the scales stay the same after a week of being good! On holiday tomorrow so might have 1 more weigh in before I go 🤞 what I am finding frustrating is how much slower I’m losing weight this time after having a baby and being a few years older than last time!

OP posts:
Sugarfree23 · 11/08/2023 13:00

Hey @Cookiedough123 my scales never budged today either but Auntie Flo is on her way so hoping that I'll see a difference when she goes.
