2nd weigh in.
Started on 1st April weighing 232lb
Week 1 - lost 7lb
Week 2 - lost 3lb
Total of 10lb loss in 2 weeks.

OohBurnDavid · 15/04/2023 08:16

thats a big loss @FatAgainItsLettuceTime , what side effects have you had?

Circa1840 · 15/04/2023 08:20

Fantastic results @FatAgainItsLettuceTime

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 15/04/2023 08:40

@OohBurnDavid no side effects so far, other than a reduction in hunger. I still feel hungry near meal times but much more bearable. Usually the first couple of weeks of a diet the hunger is actually painful, my stomach growling and feeling like it's trying to digest itself, but this is just regular 'hey it's about time for food' type feelings.

LSGX · 15/04/2023 09:01

@Beenalongwinter
It's expensive - you pay £300 for the initial kit for all the blood and poo tests and subsequent reports.

The blood glucose monitor comes with some special Zoe muffins. They ask you to eat muffins and their app on your phone links to the blood glucose monitor on your arm to monitor your individual response. People's bodies vary massively in their abilities to process sugar/ carbs.

I haven't done it myself - as I say, the Ozempic is now artificially managing my blood sugar level dips and spikes so there's no point. This is all info I've gleaned from doing a bit of internet research.

I'm interested in eating this way for general health, to feel good and so that when I come off Ozempic I've got a good, sustainable diet in place so (please God) I don't put the weight back on.

The other source of very interesting information about blood sugar level spikes and crashes is 'The Glucose Goddess' - research scientists with a special interest in this. Great YouTube channel.

I wondered about the muffins. Sounds an interesting programme.
I monitored my blood glucose and manually recorded results on an app. I thought about buying a monitor that attached to your arm and automatically reads and records your results but the price put me off.it makes zoe sound quite reasonable . I think I will wait until
I reach my target weight using Ozempic and then try Zoe.

@Beenalongwinter

My understanding is that the £299 you pay is for the blood and poo tests - gut microbiome etc - all very interesting.

You have the option to sign up - free - to be part of a research study that they are doing on blood sugar. You get the monitor/ app etc 'free' to take part in their study.

I wish I'd done it before I started Ozempic but it's too late now. I've also heard anecdotally that they have delays of a couple of months in sending out the packs so it might be worth signing up and getting the order under way before we think we'll be finishing with Ozempic.

When did you start, how much have you lost and how much more do you want to lose?

I did my first jab yesterday and need to lose two stones.

@LunaMay - I haven’t heard of issues like that but you have done the right thing getting it checked out.

@Twilightstarbright - I find sharing plate places much easier when eating out. People don’t really notice how much you are or are not eating.

Barelyable · 15/04/2023 15:08

Just checking to see if anyone has had any flu like symptoms since taking Ozempic?
I had my first .25 dose last Wednesday and since then I've been in bed. I did a covid test just be sure as it feels exactly the same but it's -ve.
Wondering if I've picked something up and it's coincidence? My head is fit to burst so won't be taking my 2nd dose until I feel better.
I've searched the thread and can't find what I'm looking for so apologies if I'm repeating things.

kkr168 · 15/04/2023 15:35

@Barelyable I took my 1st dose Thursday night, woke up Friday achey, felt sick (but wasn't) & my tonsils felt enlarged. This morning my stepson & DH have the same symptoms, so looks like it was a coincidence in my case.

I have no appetite at all today, it's such a strange feeling, usually when I'm dieting I become obsessed with food. Do you force yourself to eat at set times or just wait until your hungry?

Barelyable · 15/04/2023 15:41

@kkr168 ah, that's reassuring then. Nobody else in my family is ill so it seemed strange. I googled the symptoms and there were a couple on Reddit that had flu like symptoms but like you, it was probably coincidence.

One good thing is that my appetite has completely gone so I'm forcing some food down just to try and get some energy. I've stuck to fruit so far which I seem to tolerate well. The thought of food turns my stomach!

Twilightstarbright · 15/04/2023 16:10

Sorry I deleted a sentence- there isn’t much on the menu I can eat as I’m gluten free and I think a big lump of cheese (mozzarella) might upset my stomach. In laws have form for choosing restaurants I struggle to eat in but that’s another thread.

BMIwoes · 15/04/2023 17:25

Well shit, I just got approved for Juniper and my first pen and pack will be dispatched shortly. I wasn't sure if I would as my BMI is 27.4 but I have high cholesterol so I guess that tipped it. So I'm joining you guys on the journey. How have you found energy levels on Ozempic? I am planning to use the time on it to do some proper weight training so that when I reach a healthy weight I have some good habits and fitness embedded to help with maintaining.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/04/2023 18:59

I wish there had been an option to order the juniper stuff without the scales, to lower cost, and because I don't need new scales. But hey ho. If there was, I couldn't find it.

I like the way it was well packaged compared to manual which came in a pouch, which was immediately noticeable as odd due to the 'keep refrigerated' sticker and the cold feel of the pack.

I don't relish the idea of keeping it in the fridge in case it is spotted (trying not to make a fuss out of taking it) so I can stash the box with all it's insulation and the ice pack in the bottom of my wardrobe and just change the ice pack regularly for the couple of weeks until I will be starting the new pen. I've already got catering sized ice packs that take a few days to defrost if insulated.

I didn't see any mention of scales. Where did it mention the scales please?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/04/2023 19:14

When I went through the verification steps it said that I was cleared for the Weight reset programme, which was 1 pen (0.5 as already on it), one set of digital scales and one sharps bin. For the price of £195 with the price coming down with the FRIEND50 code by £50.

At no point did it give the option of just the medication.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/04/2023 19:17

What I do like is the button you can click to just push back the renewal date by 2 weeks without having to email and wait for a reply. I've still got a few doses yet in my old pen so won't need the new one immediately even if I'm staying on it after I've finished that pen. I've still got one more official dose of 0.25 left to take and am having results on that (finally) so was debating staying on 0.25 a bit longer to make the most of the doses, and because I've seen a LOT of people on the review site I was reading saying they have stayed on that dose with good effect for a long time.

Being able to push back the dose easily if I'm not needing it refilled yet is v convenient.

It lasts 56 days out of the fridge anyway, so 21 days for doses (day 0, day 7, day 14 and day 21) means you can have it out for 35 days before you even take first dose, without an ice pack

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/04/2023 19:33

V true! Good point.

I am still in the mindset of the first pen, where you get some bonus doses and it lasting more than 4 weeks, which I don't think the 0.5 pen will as it also has 1.5ml of fluid in it, with the 0.5 dose needing 0.38ml of fluid, pretty much a quarter of the pen each dose, so no bonus doses.
They SAY it's because there are doses 'spare' for priming the pen. But if that was the case, there would be spare fluid in the 0.5 pen and it doesn't seem there is. I personally think it's because they can just make the one size pen but that they still want you to be reordering after 4 weeks, so just give you 4 needles!

I've reordered prematurely (to get it delivered while I was off work!)
So... today is my last official 0.25 dose.
Then 2 bonus doses of very nearly 0.5 from what's left in the first pen.
Followed by 4 weeks on the new 0.5 pen.

Still less than the 56 days.

LemonPledge555 · 15/04/2023 21:31

So I’m on day 2 having taken my first 0.25 on Thursday evening. Today and yesterday are the best I’ve eaten in ages, two solidly good days without overeating, and today I’ve definitely felt fuller for longer. I do feel a bit gassy this evening and almost nauseous, but I’m wondering if it was the halloumi burger and 2 small glasses of wine? We eat a lot of veggie food so end up carbs and cheese heavy. Am in bed now and shattered, but we went on a big walk earlier and I’ve been gardening all afternoon. Found it quite hard that DD had hollow legs today!

Just been into the fitness app for my Apple Watch and realised I’ve put on 18kg since just before the first lockdown 😱 oh to be that weight again!

LemonPledge555 · 15/04/2023 21:36

Also just realised I haven’t 💩 today argh!!!

PauliesWalnuts · 15/04/2023 22:43

Ok I’m going to take the plunge after dithering and reading and thinking and weighing. Anyone got a MyJuniper code they are able to PM me please and thank you?

LoudSnoringDog · 07/04/2023 07:24

Has anyone had this prescribed by GP on nhs? I doubt I can afford £129-150 a month

I've been prescribed by my GP. My BMI was 60. I'm only 5 foot tall and have thyroid issues and high blood pressure. My GP said she is putting me on Ozempic but then will switch me to Wegovy when it is available. If I can't lose weight with the injections I have to have a gastric sleeve so I'm determined to make the injections work. I've been given 3 months supply and I have to lose 6-7kg to get next 3 months supply.
