After 1 week I have lost 2lb. I am obese and have changed my eating habits dramatically. I'm a little disappointed at not having lost more

Beenalongwinter · 14/04/2023 14:10

SarahC50 · 14/04/2023 11:20

@Beenalongwinter why will juniper not prescribe the 1mg. I'm with them and on all the printed leaflets it has month four onwards 1mg. Have they given you a clinical reason why not. I'd be very disappointed if they wouldn't prescribe it to me after following the months of titration and sticking with juniper x

@SarahC50
Out of interest what did they prescribe for month 3 ?

Got my starter box from My Juniper and have had my first shot. Very exciting!
I've been doing lots of research on the 'Zoe' way of eating and how to flatten your glucose spikes and crashes naturally with healthy eating - knowing that I'll have to come off Ozempic at some point. There's lots of really interesting info out there by The Glucose Goddess, if anyone's interested.

Twilightstarbright · 14/04/2023 14:36

@LSGX I’m interested, is it on instagram or social media?

@Desolate2nite I’ve never been one to get big losses at the start of a diet, but 2lb is great- imagine if you lose that every week you’d be over 100lb down in a year. Don’t give up!

Beenalongwinter · 14/04/2023 13:39

I think they have increased the price but they will likely despatch same day & you may receive it tomorrow . I am on day 3 with juniper still waiting for approval .

Thank you for your response. I have paid the £159 and used your referral code.

DPD are hopeless. I also went on the online chat sameiam and apparently they’re sending it to pick up shop today. Will believe it when I get a notification. Hope you get yours ok.

Just asked for an update and back to the ‘it’ll be delivered on Monday’ speech so guy on chat earlier clearly just lied to close the chat. I imagine it would probably be fine on Monday realistically but just told them it won’t be usable after ice packs are melted so send it back if they can’t deliver them today and now they are apparently contacting the driver to try and get it out today. Very much doubt it though! Hopefully you got yours

I'm type 2 diabetic and new doctor put me back on Metformin and now Ozempic as well due to the diabetes being uncontrolled for a while (i've been a bit neglectful of my health) so very high blood sugar. I wasn't looking forward to starting the medication because i've always struggled to stay on Metformin due to the side effects.

I started Ozempic last week, took my first .25mg dose on the Thursday afternoon. Felt a bit off during the day on the Friday and then in the evening realised something wasn't right when i was looking at the tv - lots of glare. When i then picked up my phone all the text was a blur and then same when i went to the pc. The side effects then really kicked in and i barely moved or felt human again until Wednesday. Booked in to see my doctor Thursday morning because i was worried about taking my second dose incase it was related to my sudden vision problems. He didnt think it was related, checked my eyes and referred me to the optometrist straight away. He told me to hold off on my second dose until after my eyes had been tested but i feel like this was more to humor me as i was a bit anxious.

Saw the optometrist today (Friday) he says eyes are physically fine no signs of damage from diabetes etc. He said the way it works is that as my blood sugar would have gone down to a normal level so would other things including my vision and that i just have bad sight, i will need glasses but he wont do anything for a few months at least. So i guess in one way the ozempic did cause my vision to go bad... He hadn't got onto my doctor yet when i called a few hours later so i'm planning to call the surgery in the morning and the nurses will ask him if i can do my second dose, after last time i'd like to have at least a day or 2 before having to go to work feeling awful.

Anyone else experienced something similar?

Also i didnt weigh myself beforehand but have definitely lost something in the week, was surprised how little i wanted to eat or snack. However today i am just eating everything, insatiable. I can absolutely see how people would struggle keeping weight off when coming off it.

LunaMay · 14/04/2023 15:34

Gosh, didn't mean to write a novel.

MedievalMadness · 14/04/2023 15:34

Oh that’s crappy sameiam. The online chat guy said to ignore tomorrows date and it’s due at pick up shop today. Just got a text to say it’s ready to collect. Very surprised. With it being refrigerated it’s extra atrocious service . I hope you get yours by some miracle today.

I'll PM you a Juniper one

Kangarude · 14/04/2023 17:41

@Fortheloveofus I took my second dose on Tuesday. I got weighed this morning and have gained 1lb. I didn't feel any different after my first dose and not much different after this weeks, however, I think it has kicked in today. My appetite has reduced.
I received a text from Manual by coincidence this morning and the coach has explained (what I already knew) that it can take 6-8 weeks to feel the impact of the medication, although some feel the benefit straightaway. They recommend focusing on lifestyle changes alongside the medication to get the most out of the process. On the bright side, I have had no unpleasant side effects.
Stick with it.

magnic · 14/04/2023 17:55

Thank you all. Package arrived and as suspected gone unnoticed by husband. Going to take first dose later.

Fortheloveofus · 14/04/2023 17:58

@Kangarude thank you for reassuring me. I knew it didn't take immediate effect for everyone, it was just because I didn't know if I'd taken it properly.

Great news that yours has kicked in but you don't have side-effects. That's what we're all hoping for, I guess. Good luck. Keep us up-to-dste with your progress 💐

Kangarude · 14/04/2023 18:34

I also worried that I hadn't done it correctly. I am mindful that I've read other posters saying they had side effects kick in on week 3. I'll let you know

magnic · 14/04/2023 18:46

1st dose taken! However, didn't feel a thing and no obvious puncture but counter went down to 0 and no spillage so assume dose is in! Here's hoping. Slightly embarrassed how anxious I was about doing it though 😳

Hi, I’ve been lurking on here as started about 5 weeks ago. Everything was fine very very minor symptoms of occasional heartburn and have a weight loss of about 8lbs so far. Tuesday I went up from 3mg to 7mg (I’m on the tablets) today I’ve felt awful, was really sick and still feel nauseous but have kept down two pieces of toast today. My question is did anyone else feel like this moving up in dosage and if so how long did it last as I’m hesitant to take tomorrows tablet if I continue to feel like this. Am gutted. TIA

Circa1840 · 14/04/2023 20:53

Just an update. Week 7 today and I have lost 17lbs. Gone from 15.2 to 13.13 which is very exciting. I haven't been in the 13 stone bracket for years.
I was scared to get on the scales this morning as I have eaten a lot of banoffie pie and chocolate these last few days!

OzHopes · 14/04/2023 23:51

Quick update from me - I’ve completed 4 weeks now on .25mg and have lost 11lbs so really pleased with that. Going to continue on .25 from the first pen for a week or two to make the most of that financially and also as I’m continuing to lose ok.

LSGX · 15/04/2023 00:20

@Twilightstarbright

Zoe is an organisation headed by Prof Tim Spector.

They do a service whereby you send off blood and poo samples and wear a blood glucose monitor for three days. You get a detailed and personalised information pack about what you should be eating to flatten your glucose spikes and dips (so keep energy levels constant and reduce cravings for sweet things). I'd love to do it but I can't see there's any point with having the Ozempic on board to manage my glucose responses artificially.

There is a great YouTube channel with really interesting interviews and info.
As far as I can make out, all about full fat live Greek yog, berries, nuts, seeds, ALLLL the plants (especially avocado) and pulses. Lean protein, olive oil. Brown rice and quinoa. Etc etc. Very healthy and unprocessed food.

They're massively into the gut microbiome - I can't think about sauerkraut or Kimchi but I could get some kombucha.

Beenalongwinter · 15/04/2023 06:48

My Juniper have authorised my order, yay....hopefully it will arrive Tuesday and not get stuck in the post over the week-end.
Any one needing a £50 off referral code please private message me.
I have 90 spare needles if anyone would like a few posting.

Thanks @LSGX ive listened to their podcast a bit.

@Beenalongwinter I’d love a couple of needles please.

went out for dinner last night and didn’t drink and managed ok with food. I’m out again tonight and it’s a sharing plate place that looks much harder to figure out. I might just not eat there and eat before.

Won’t a sharing plate place be easier? Because it will be less noticeable if you don’t eat much?

Please may I ask does Zoe supply the blood glucose monitor or do you buy one ? How does it work?
