I have a lot more to lose but small goals appeal. It would be nice to feel a little better about how I look at Christmas outings

I think low carb appeals to me as carbs make me feel bloated anyway.

I am a terrible snacker and often have large bags crisps, sweets and chocolate at the weekends. That will be my biggest challenge (and stealing the kids snacks!)

It would be nice to have people to check in with.

I’d love to join. Need to have somewhere to have accountability. I’m starting Monday as I’m going to a gig and have a hotel stay tonight so being realistic here!
I think I’ll go back to logging on MyFitnessPal and getting out for walks. And cut back on the wine!
A stone by Christmas would be great!

I'd love to join you. I've managed to lose a stone over the summer, I'm aiming for slow and steady so this suits me well. I've got about 4 and a half to go in total.

I have a gig tonight too @MamOfTeens and my big 4-0 at the end of this month, so I need a bit of realism too. I want to try and get off as much as can though in the meantime. Going for a combo of slimming world and plant based (during the week), plus upping my walks to and from work- I like walking in the cold weather.

I have about 3.5 to lose in total. I started Thursday upping exercise, cutting back on wine/snacks and logging on MyFitnessPal.

I recommend the fast 800 book to people if you’ve not tried it, plenty of low carb and easy affordable recipes. I’m going to batch cook this weekend to save time in the week I think as I can sometimes get fed up of cooking from scratch every single night. Pinch of nom light also have some good recipes and all 400 cals or under.

I need some motivation… we can all do this!! 💪

I'll join! Lost 4 stone so far but am really struggling to shift the other 4 that I need to lose ........Blush So today I'm accountable again, and I'm back to 16/8 method which is how I've lost most of my weight so far.

A stone by Christmas would really help my mood I think ... life seems hard right now and comfort eating isn't easing anything especially my waistband Hmm

Me too. Probably got a couple to lose overall but always try to lose some pre-xmas.

I currently have strep throat which has made eating nearly impossible with the pain and cant eat with the penicillin anyway so using it as an impromptu kick starting fast. Would love to get under 12st 7 before ruining it all with mince pies...

I would love to join you all. I have 4 stone to shift so getting rid of 1 before Christmas would be fab.

It's the nightly bowl of nibbles that need to stop in my house. Every evening at 5pm out come the bowls full of different crisps. Will look into healthier nibbles to put out. The dark nights also brought an increase in carbs so I am all bloated up like a big balloon.

I usually eat crisps a lot in the evenings. The past week I have tried to cut it out altogether to break the habit and have been drinking lots of decaf tea.

3 in fact.
I read a Mumsnetter recently who wrote that her light bulb moment was when it struck her that she was in charge. She chose what she ate. It was all up to her.
Reading that made me realise that I'm in charge of me. So it's up to me. I make the choice to eat/drink sh*te or healthily.

Another good piece of advice is about realising if you are a 'moderator' or an 'abstainer' moderators can eat one of something and leave the rest. Abstainers cannot stop. As an abstainer I realised that I had to just not start things. Don't look, don't buy, keep things out of sight etc. Don't make things difficult by fooling yourself that you can only have one.

I'd like to join! I've lost two stone of baby weight and need to lose just over one more to fit into all my work clothes by the end of January. I'm finding this last bit so hard and I keep bingeing 😫

I thought the thing about moderators and abstainers was interesting- I definitely need to be an abstainer. I'm planning on cutting down sugar intake and starting couch to 5k again.

I stick to 16/8 as that just cuts out the mindless evening nibbling when you're not even hungry.

That's really insightful about the abstainer and moderator. I'm far happier when I abstain and don't have it in the house - not easy when DH is a constant grazer and eats snacks in preference to meals. It's not doing his waistband any favours either....

I think I eat mainly when bored. I have found myself drinking non stop whilst I'm trying not to snack.

Interesting to think about the moderation/abstention idea and being in charge/making choices as posted above.

I'm prediabetic apparently which I haven't fully figured but its a pretty good motivation at moment to make changes.

I'm trying to think of some positives. A couple of dresses i'd like to get back into. And to be able to exercise more which feels difficult at moment.
