A stone by Christmas. Anyone want to join me?

I have a lot more to lose but small goals appeal. It would be nice to feel a little better about how I look at Christmas outings

I think low carb appeals to me as carbs make me feel bloated anyway.

I am a terrible snacker and often have large bags crisps, sweets and chocolate at the weekends. That will be my biggest challenge (and stealing the kids snacks!)

It would be nice to have people to check in with.

I'm joining this thread!
My eating is out of control and I now need accountability. I'm going to write everything I eat here and try to do some form of exercise every day.

Today, I'm fasting until lunch. Then I have chicken and peppers, fruit for snack. Salmon and veg for dinner.

polkadotpixie · 09/11/2022 13:55

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast - 2 Weetabix
Lunch - Veggie Sushi
Dinner - 2 Veggie Samosas & 2 Veggie Spring Rolls

Snacks - Mini bag of Skittles & 2 squares of chocolate

Drinks - 1 hot chocolate, 1 Diet Coke, 1 water

Not too bad but definitely need more water!

Xtraincome · 09/11/2022 16:14

Hi guys,

Today I had filter coffee and a satsuma for breakfast- started a new Job so my DDs are on a slightly quicker morning routine so I am delaying my first meal of the day until lunch so I can be available to them as much as possible.

Lunch- Reuben on rye sandwich with a few crisps

Snacks- satsuma again, 8 cups of water and 1 tea.

Dinner- Auntie is cooking so it will be a surprise 😮

Marthaandthemuffins · 09/11/2022 17:29

Please can I join?

I’m 52, 5’9” and weigh 15stone 8lbs. I’ve never told anyone irl how much I weigh.

It’s now or never!

beenrumbled · 09/11/2022 19:47

Porridge with skimmed milk, weighed and measured for breakfast
Homemade carrot and lentil soup for lunch.
Tuna and pasta for tea again.
Probably too many carbs but my portions were ok
No snacks
Still not drinking enough water. But I am walking to and from work.

Firsteatthefrog · 09/11/2022 23:34

I’d like to join please, I’m 52 with 4 stones to lose. I’ve been faffing about for years but now I’m 2 stones heavier than I used to be at my “heavy” weight. I tend to make things over complicated and then when I don’t follow the complicated rules precisely I throw the towel in.
so the rules this week are 1600 calories a day, no drinking at home. I’ll weigh in the morning.

passwordnotsecure · 10/11/2022 06:59

At the first day I posted I was in, I proceeded to eat a whole pizza and 3pc garlic bread for tea...
I'm going to try 16.8 which I have tried successfully (IE it wasn't too difficult) but I know it's a long game and didn't do it for long enough to see real results.
Am going to reduce drinking (only Friday Saturday) and try and drink more water when I'm hungry. I'm currently sitting with a liquorice tea and will eat after 10, but only fruits until tea time.
We'll see...

Yel · 10/11/2022 07:38

I've stuck to 1300 calories the last few days and also used 16:8. My scales says I'm down 6lbs but I think thats because day 1 I weighed myself after lunch. So using this morning's weigh in as my new baseline. Great to have started now!

Firsteatthefrog · 10/11/2022 07:57

Weighed this morning. 15 stone on the nose. That’s not a good number. So 1600 calories and no drinking at home is this week’s plan. Good luck!

ShreddedMarmalade · 10/11/2022 11:20

Can I join please? I've ordered new scales which should be here tomorrow but I am going to guess they will tel me I'm about 14 stone or just under. I want to be 10 and a half. My ex told me today that he would likely not have dated me if he had met me at this weight. I'm trying to use that as motivation rather than letting it crush me! I did ask so it's not his fault. I just had t realised how much I had changed. I'd like to shed a stone by Xmas at least. I've already quit alcohol as of 6 weeks ago so now need to up exercise and count calories. Aiming for under 1200 per day.

Yel · 10/11/2022 11:48

Well done on giving up the alcohol @ShreddedMarmalade!! Give up the Ex next!

ShreddedMarmalade · 10/11/2022 13:01

Haha thanks.

polkadotpixie · 10/11/2022 20:55

Yesterday I had:

Breakfast - 2 x Weetabix
Lunch - Pesto/Tomato/Mozzarella pasta & a Muller light yogurt
Dinner - Saag Paneer & rice
Snacks - Mini bag of Skittles & a 2 finger KitKat
Drinks - 1 hot chocolate, 1 Diet Coke, 1 Water

Again, could be worse but could also have done better...must try harder for the next few days!

BMIwoes · 10/11/2022 23:29

Can I join too?! 11 stone 10, 5'5" and a stone by Xmas would be fab. I know I lose weight if I increase activity and eat 1400ncals or less, I jist really struggle to stick to anything for longer than a few days. Will log cals, weight and steps here daily to try and stay on track.

MamOfTeens · 11/11/2022 00:08

Today was not great but going to put it behind me and try again tomorrow. I’m going to spend the weekend at my BF house tomorrow (LDR) so he will be cooking and I don’t want to get into my trying to lose weight plans or anything.
I have told him I’m on a health kick so hopefully he’ll plan accordingly. There will definitely be wine but also a hike or beach walk so balance 😁
going to do a sneaky weigh in tomorrow to see if I’m making progress

beenrumbled · 11/11/2022 05:19

@ShreddedMarmaladeyour ex is obviously quite a catch Hmm

I'm 2 1/2 stone heavier than i was when I met my husband.

Well I had 2 large G&T's on Wednesday night, and a small cupcake and brownie yesterday so bang goes the alcohol and snack rule!

Still doing ok with portion size, and walking a bit more - but again - not enough water.

mellongoose · 11/11/2022 05:52

Please can I join you? Although I don't look every day.

I'm 13 st 2 and would like to get down to 11st. One off by Christmas will be a great start.

Until summer my running 🏃‍♀️ was great but I just stopped and cannot get motivated again.

Food/drink wise I'm going to cut down on alcohol 🍷. I don't drink every day but probably only have two alcohol free days a week. I'll switch that to only drink a glass on two separate days a week.

Will reduce portions and try to eat between 10 and 6. I don't really have a sweet tooth but crisps or cheese are my nemesis! Need to reduce the intake of food to what I need to fuel my body rather than what I fancy!!

gemdrop84 · 11/11/2022 06:47

Can I join? I'm having a really hard time with my weight at the moment and have got into this viscious cycle of not exercising, then beating myself up about it and comfort eating. I'd got into a good routine this summer but unfortunately got covid that wiped me out. Now its dark, cold and I'm not feeling the most motivated so some peer support would be appreciated! I just want to feel better about my body. I've started swapping junk snacks for fruit and increasing my water intake. I am going to start walking/running next week & monitor calories.

polkadotpixie · 11/11/2022 11:54

Yesterday I ate:

Breakfast: None
Lunch: Pesto/Tomato/Mozzarella pasta
Dinner: Mexican rice/3 x Vegan 'chorizo' sausages & Broccoli

Snacks: Freddo bar, mini bag of skittles & 2 lebuchen bites
Drinks: 2 x water and 1 x Diet Coke

Still too many snacks but better than my usual eating habits!

mellongoose · 11/11/2022 20:40

Breakfast: nothing
Lunch: lentil and spinach soup with a slice of wholemeal bread. A bit of soreen malt loaf.
Dinner: bangers, mash and kale.
Snacks: apple, rice crackers, a Freddo 🙈

A glass of red

Only consumed calories between 12 and 6.

Mixed bag, all in all!

SillyLittleMargaret · 11/11/2022 21:10

Can I join you? Have put on stone and a half over the last year and really need to shift it. Heading into menopause and 50 next year, so need to do something asap! Would love to shift a stone by Christmas and think the accountability and support of a group will help! Will weigh in the morning and intend to do low carb/cal for 8 weeks to kick start things.

Herecomeschristmas · 12/11/2022 08:55

Morning. Been catching up on everyone's posts. I can't post what I eat each day because it doesn't sound good... I've had crisps and even a McPlant burger Blush. Still better overall than my usual though and I'm down 3 pounds since last Saturday.

I've learnt.... I can eat a tiny bit of chocolate and stop easily.
Crisps are my biggest weakness!

I have gone whole days without drinking water ( just tea/coffee) so my aim is to up my water this week.

I am struggling to fit in exercise on weekdays. Will try to for a walk today.

Home made creamy leek soup on the go was lovely and handy for lunches. Any easy favourite soups anyone wants to recommend much appreciated.

@Herecomeschristmas

My only exercise at the moment is walking to and from work- I need to up it really but I have a niggling back at the moment - I do have some free weights etc at home and I could sort of start C25K - but stick on the first 2 weeks for a while - I might try that.

I'm still not drinking enough water. I need to get on that for next week.

Soup wise I just throw things together and blitz it with a hand blender usually

I do have a lovely Beetroot and Orange and ginger soup recipe that I'll try to dig out. This last week I made a curried carrot and lentil soup. Tomorrow I'm nakjing carrot and ginger soup i think .

Curried carrot soup

Sauté some crushed or chopped garlic and some fresh ginger in some olive oil.

Add a chopped onion and cook til softened.

Add curry powder to taste - I used 1 1/2 teaspoons of medium. let this cook through for a couple of minutes.

Add 3 or 4 chopped carrots

Add a litre of veg stock

Add dried red lentils and bring to the boil, put a lid on the pan and reduce to a simmer - cook til lentils cooked though (ones i used said 30 minutes)

Blend when cool and season.

Made enough for my lunches for the week.

upfucked · 12/11/2022 09:51

Morning all, sorry I’ve being doing this mostly (around sick kids and kitchen work) so haven’t posted. I seemed to have lost 1lb already. I will catch up on messages later.

@AutisticLegoLover a stone should be doable for me because I have A LOT more than that to loose. If you’re closer to your ideal weight then aim for 1lb a week. That’s 6 lb or nearly 1/2 stone by Christmas.

Badger1970 · 12/11/2022 11:31

I'm around 3 lbs down since last weekend, but had a "see food and eat it" night last night as I was overly tired and emotional, and feel grotty today as a result.

I wish I knew how to turn that part of my brain off Sad
