A stone by Christmas. Anyone want to join me?

I have a lot more to lose but small goals appeal. It would be nice to feel a little better about how I look at Christmas outings

I think low carb appeals to me as carbs make me feel bloated anyway.

I am a terrible snacker and often have large bags crisps, sweets and chocolate at the weekends. That will be my biggest challenge (and stealing the kids snacks!)

It would be nice to have people to check in with.

I just downloaded my fitness pal, feeling all clever about my food today and realised I'm over my calories.

So I'm in!! I don't have scales, so I'm going to join and go to boots at the end and jump on the paid ones.. I know how much I was a month again so I'm going to have to guess.. but my clothes and mirror won't lie.

So that's 6.5kg.. I think that's doable!

upfucked · 07/11/2022 21:48

I forgot to weight myself this morning.
Breakfast - Greek yoghurt, blueberry and nuts
Flat white
Lunch - bean soup
Snack - oat cake with peanut butter
Dinner - lentil bake with tomato and avocado salsa (and accidental garlic bread)

Total calories excluding milk in tea and coffee = 1245

30 mins swimming
Steps = 9500

nonstoprenovation · 07/11/2022 21:49

To everyone saying no snacking.. don't you get blood sugar level spikes and end up eating more if you don't graze 4-5 smaller meals.

Snacks can be just a few nuts and few apple slices and peanut butter just small stuff but that levels off your cravings.

Also drink more water.

That's from my PT and nutrition lady from days gone by.. maybe it's wrong now??

I'm going to a fitness class with a friend tomorrow called Punch and Lift.. I'm so unfit, it might actually kill me!

That sounds painful...

JustKeepSlimming · 07/11/2022 22:02

Can I join? Need to lose a couple of stone, but if I can get well on the way to losing 1 by Christmas that'll be a good start!

polkadotpixie · 07/11/2022 22:03

I weighed myself this morning and I'm 10st 8lbs

I'm 5'3" and my BMI is 26

Today I ate:

Breakfast - None
Lunch - Vegan hoisin 'duck' wrap + grapes
Dinner - Pumpkin soup + 2 slices of bread
Snacks - 1 custard cream, 1 mini pack of skittles
Drinks - 1 hot chocolate, 1 lucozade, 1 water

I've done a lot worse in the past but I can do better too...without the calories from the snacks and drinks, I'd be pleased!

Xtraincome · 07/11/2022 22:04

Yes please! I started today by cutting out my snacks and switching to water. Just started a new remote job 🙌

MamOfTeens · 07/11/2022 22:06

I agree about snacks - I need small bits throughout the day or I feel sick - think my blood sugars drop too much. Just need to make the snacks healthy rather than family size pack of crisps 😁
Today was a good day - loads of fruit, veg, healthy meals and only a little treat this evening- all within my allowance. Also did my lunch time walk with the dog and drank some water. Small steps :)

flyintobed · 07/11/2022 22:08

I'm up for this 🙌

Ontheedge2 · 07/11/2022 22:33

Good luck everyone!

Hope you don't mind me tagging along. I'm looking to lose 2-3 stone overall but losing 1 by Xmas would be amazing!

I'm definitely an abstainer and I've been 'weaning myself off' things lately e.g. buying popcorn instead of crisp, eating grapes rather than biscuits etc. Swapping rather than removing seems to help me psychologically somehow? Hopefully it'll help!

Herecomeschristmas · 07/11/2022 23:32

I'm exhausted and still working - today has not gone to plan - after a week of eating healthily. Still under my 1200 calories (just about) but wasn't intending to include 450 calories of sweets/crisps etc! But at least I stopped at that point.

@ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner I too have 4 stone at least to lose. I googled some 4 stone weight loss before and after photos and found it encouraging.

@MamOfTeens well done on your walk!

Sounds like people are off to a good start.

So yesterday I had

Breakfast - oat & wheatbran porridge and skimmed milk

Lunch - small portion of tuna, pasta and sweetcorn (with a little mayonnaise)

Tea - Home made curried carrot and lentil soup with 2 slices of seeded bread.

No snacking, several cups of tea with skimmed milk.

I need to drink more water!

passwordnotsecure · 08/11/2022 07:17

Yes I'm in. 11 stone 7, 5'3. Wobble belly!
I have the NHS weight loss app which has calorie counting. I intend to walk the dog more too!

sprinkleparty · 08/11/2022 09:17

I’m in too. Need to lose 10kg so about 1.5 stone. Doing Slimfast as a kick-start. Yesterday was tough but managed cravings by snacking on salad instead of the usual crisps/choc post-dinner and having different types of tea through the day to keep it interesting.

Smugsmaug · 08/11/2022 09:40

Today the plan is to fast for a boost, so will stick to 500 calories. Also, to cut out anything processed / carbs. Will be having a hearty soup this evening, lots of coffee, tea and water during the day.

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 08/11/2022 10:51

@Herecomeschristmas Googling the before and after photos is a really good idea, going to do that today for some inspiration.

I'm just home from my exercise class and I really enjoyed it, enjoyed might be a bit much but it wasn't awful and I didn't want to leave half way through! I'm going to ache tomorrow though. I've booked on for next week and just going to try and walk loads this week.

I can't remember who said about the snacks but I'm exactly the same, if I don't eat little and often I feel really sick which then send me reaching for crisps or chocolate!

DutchessOfMuck · 08/11/2022 15:57

Hi all, yesterday went ok but could definitely have been better.

2 x petit felou ?sp mini pots
Decaffeinated coffee
Water
Stovies for dinner with roasted carrots
2 x wheat abix with a banana and soya milk
Raspberries and strawberries

2 x bowls of crisps 😭
1 x bowl of stovies 😭

No exercise

Today I've had
Water
Decaffeinated coffee
Vegetable stir fry
For dinner tonight I am going to make baked potatoes with salad, red onion and cheese.

Might make lentil soup also.

LaughingBallz · 08/11/2022 16:15

Today I walked the dogs this morning (bad weather so didn't do PM walk as planned).

Breakfast: toast and flora
Lunch: homemade curry
Dinner: homemade pizza
Drinks: just water

All weighed and put in my fitness pal at 1,122 calories for the day. Will try not to eat after 6 this evening!
I know some may think the calories are low but both meals are loaded with veg and very filling - I'm definitely not starving myself!

Curiousforever · 08/11/2022 17:20

Oh man i caved and had some pudding ( home made sugar free kind) but had lots of fat and carbs. Post 5 pm is my danger zone.
Otherwise have had salad and greek yogurt for lunch.
no exercise yet but hopefully on the weekend will do.

MamOfTeens · 08/11/2022 21:23

Not a bad day today.
Breakfast-2 weetabix with skim milk and apple
Snack - fruit and fat free green yogurt with a sprinkle of protein granola on top
Lunch -scrambled eggs and 2 bacon medallions, clementine
Dinner -cottage pie
tea with skim milk throughout day
Treat curly wurly watching I’m a celeb:)
brisk 30 min dog walk at lunchtime

just need to repeat ad nauseam forever more 😁

StonebyChristmas · 08/11/2022 22:56

I’ve done 11k steps today. Food wise there’s been some small wins. Reduced some carb portions at dinner. Lunch was too bready though. Breakfast was small and sensible, porridge. There has been a few sugary snacks so aiming to reduce those tomorrow.

Ontheedge2 · 09/11/2022 08:23

Yesterday was a medium day.

Fasted until lunch then had beans and crackers.

Had a jacket potato, turkey and veg for dinner

Topped off with a packet of love hearts

Not the healthiest but not terrible calorie wise!

I didn't quite hit by 10k steps (9,783!) but going to try again today.

Good luck everyone!

AutisticLegoLover · 09/11/2022 09:23

Please can I join? A stone seems a big aim because Christmas seems so close but I'll see what I can do. I'm 10st 3lb and 9st 3lb is my ideal weight. I'll settle for 9st 7lb. I've recently had covid and was very unwell for 2 weeks and I'm still not up to the normal exercise routine. I'm getting there though and have dropped a couple of pounds since being back on the school run. I might make some soup today. Lentil, carrot and celery. Perfect autumn food. Good luck everyone!

Badger1970 · 09/11/2022 09:28

I've had a good few days food wise but have done less exercise as I'm on my own at work and doing longer days so less time dog walking.

Will try and make up for it at the weekend with a longer walk.

PieonaBarm · 09/11/2022 10:45

I've been lurking since the thread started. Came back from a two week all inclusive then ate cheese for a week so had a 10lb gain 😂 although I think most of that was cheese when I got home to be fair.

Anyway, I'm two weeks in and I'm 6lb down. I'm 12.8 this morning so I'd like to be in the elevens for Christmas which is near my fighting weight of 11.8
