A stone by Christmas. Anyone want to join me?

I have a lot more to lose but small goals appeal. It would be nice to feel a little better about how I look at Christmas outings

I think low carb appeals to me as carbs make me feel bloated anyway.

I am a terrible snacker and often have large bags crisps, sweets and chocolate at the weekends. That will be my biggest challenge (and stealing the kids snacks!)

It would be nice to have people to check in with.

Well done on all those losses!

Well done to everyone who is staying on track!

I fell off the walking to work wagon today. DH dropped me off and picked me up from work because it was raining so heavily. But I did go for a short walk after tea. I'm still 800 steps short of 10,000 though.

Food wise not so bad. But still need to drink more water!

Wow, well done on your walking. I don't do even quarter of it. I drive to work, and I have cats, so no external motivation to walk, unlike with the dog. I do exercises at home though, but I'd love to walk more. It's the most natural physical activity for human body.

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 16/11/2022 16:06

Down to 11.3.3 (from 11.8)

PieonaBarm · 16/11/2022 18:29

I only lost 0.5lb this week but it's 6.5lb in three weeks so considering I had a kebab on Sunday and a Curry and sides on Saturday I'll take it!

Walking to work is the only excercise I get. Like you I have cats so no need to walk them! Some days are better than others. If I WFH I hardly hit 1000 steps!

I really want/need to lose weight this time.

Firsteatthefrog · 17/11/2022 07:58

Weighed in today and exactly the same as last week. I haven’t been great food wise. Exercise has been pretty good but that doesn’t take the weight off! I’m perimenopausal and it definitely doesn’t make things easier. I have a weekend away this weekend but there’ll be loads of walking and not very much drinking so hopefully not too bad. I just really need the scales to shift this week.
Well done to everybody sticking with it and seeing losses. We need to keep going!

LadyEloise1 · 17/11/2022 10:07

Does anyone else self sabotage ?
I want to lose weight, am disgusted disappointed I weigh so much for my height, I decide to do something about it, then focus on food and put on weight.
I had dropped two lbs but they're back. SadAngry
Onwards and upwards.

Smugsmaug · 17/11/2022 12:20

LadyEloise1
I‘ m the heaviest I’ve ever been, and I do get periods of getting so annoyed and disgusted with myself that I start thinking what’s the point, or it doesn’t seem to be working anyway. So I’m going to avoid the scales for a couple more weeks, take each as a win for sticking to it, and remind myself at least I’m no longer putting weight on every day as I have been for a while, and when I do check in, hoping to see that a big chunk has gone which will spur me on.

Smugsmaug · 17/11/2022 12:21

*take each day as a win

beenrumbled · 17/11/2022 19:29

@LadyEloise1 I do the same. One thing goes wrong then I think what's the point! I'm menopausal now. And the only time I was heavier than I am now wascwhen I was pregnant.

I need to lose weight and be healthier. Hoping I stick to it this time!

Smugsmaug · 18/11/2022 09:44

Braved the scales, have lost 3 pounds. Think that’s only happened this last week, as I don’t think I was strict enough before. Onwards and upwards!

sprinkleparty · 18/11/2022 14:02

Fell off the wagon a bit yesterday. Weighing every day not v helpful as numbers fluctuate so much. I seem to be better with meal replacement bars than actual food, the portions of which I find harder to control. Bars are £££ though so not a long-term option. Hopefully the weigh-in at the start of next week will show lower numbers.

beenrumbled · 19/11/2022 07:24

I keep obsessively weighing myself every day, which isn't healthy i don't think.

So on top of exercising self control round food and alcohol I now have told myself I will only weigh once a week.

I think I have been Okish this week so far - but i have lunch out today, then Sunday tea with the family tomorrow - will see what the scales say on Monday morning.

Herecomeschristmas · 19/11/2022 08:08

I have been thinking about how we often let being overweight define us, and the negative language and ideas around disgust, being greedy, lacking willpower etc, hiding away, drab clothes. I don't know if it's the same for others but being overweight is always on my mind (eating not far behind!).

I have been trying to develop a more compassionate approach and I think it's working a little. I had a surprise mirror moment in work of thinking I looked nice. About an hour later a full length mirror undid the nice thought!!

I wonder if there are any books that help encourage healthy eating and lifestyle in a positive, being kind and looking after your body approach?

Smugsmaug · 19/11/2022 11:52

I can def relate! And also curious about any books that may help…

mellongoose · 19/11/2022 21:36

I'm not doing very well at all! Mind you I got my period today so there's been a fair amount of comfort eating 😵‍💫

I looked at photos from 6 or 7 years ago when my daughter was a baby. I looked younger, fresher, thinner. I'm about one and a half stone heavier than I was then. Why can't I muster up the energy or motivation to get back to that size?!

Sorry for the low mood. Hope you're all doing better than me!!!

MamOfTeens · 20/11/2022 19:50

As I sip my last glass of wine of the weekend 🙄Im annoyed that I’ve gone backwards but determined to get back on track tomorrow. Last week was crazy but this week looks better so I’m going to give it my best shot - no excuses!

polkadotpixie · 20/11/2022 23:27

Not looking forward to tomorrow's weigh in, I know I've not been good enough this week to have lost, hopefully not gained too much Confused

flowerycurtain · 21/11/2022 06:22

Hi, I'm late to the party for this one but please can I join. Hoping to lose 7lbs in the 5 weeks till Xmas.

Weight has been steadily creeping up and I hit 11st for the first time in years last night. I've previously lost 6 stone and do not want to go back to where I was. 10st is my "feel amazing look incredible" weight. 10.7 is my feel great, look good but can eat choc and wine weight!!

Todays plan:

B scrambled egg and spinach
L - mushroom stroganoff, noodles and green beans
T - scrambled egg and smoked salmon on bagel

(Slight meal planning cock up with the amount of egg in todays diet!!)

beenrumbled · 21/11/2022 06:49

Weigh in today.

10st 4lbs 8oz = loss since last week of about 2 1/2 lbs, and in total over last 2 weeks 4lbs. I was a bit disappointed tbh, I'd hoped for more.

But I'm not going to get disheartened and sabotage myself (I hope) - a loss is a loss.

Breakfast - measured out porridge and skimmed milk with a handful of berries

Lunch - Home made mushroom soup - I made it yesterday for first time, I'm not convinced it will be edible)

Tea - Chicken and noodles in a sweet chilli sauce, followed by Greek yoghurt and some more berries.

And I'm going to try and stay away from the scales til next monday!

Smugsmaug · 21/11/2022 10:16

Welcome flowery!

Great loss beenrumbled!

Proud of myself for being fairly good food wise over the weekend, planning to have an even better week! It’s cats and dogs outside so trying to think of an alternative to walk outside…
Today, sticking to fast 800 principles, so black coffee and aiming to have my first meal later in the day.

Smugsmaug · 21/11/2022 10:19

mellongoose

Be kind to yourself 💐

polkadotpixie · 21/11/2022 19:04

I gained 😩 I'm back up to 10st 7lbs so put on 1.5lbs, so annoyed with myself

Definitely going to try harder this week and try and post what I ate daily to keep myself accountable (& probably annoy you all in the process! 🤣)

sprinkleparty · 21/11/2022 20:56

Try not to be too disheartened @polkadotpixie. I’m reading The Fast 800 (seemingly very late to the fasting party), and it’s encouraging to hear you can lose weight effectively doing 5:2. I took it to mean that even if you have one or a few bad days, you can redress the balance by cutting down drastically on the 2 very low-cal days.

Smugsmaug · 21/11/2022 23:40

Don’t feel bad - it’s a journey!

Yeahy I’m also doing the fast 800! And I’ve realised today why it hasn’t been working as quickly for me. I hadn’t realised that oat milk is high in carbs/sugar, and had been drinking not far off a carton today. Had a chat with a doctor friend and have now realised it’s not the healthy alternative I held it to be! In fact, I was a bit taken aback to find out it contains a natural sugar that has a higher gi score than glucose 🫢 Sharing in case anyone else finds that helpful to know
