A stone by Christmas. Anyone want to join me?

I have a lot more to lose but small goals appeal. It would be nice to feel a little better about how I look at Christmas outings

I think low carb appeals to me as carbs make me feel bloated anyway.

I am a terrible snacker and often have large bags crisps, sweets and chocolate at the weekends. That will be my biggest challenge (and stealing the kids snacks!)

It would be nice to have people to check in with.

I weighed myself today and seem to have gained 1lb... I'm hoping I just weighed at a lighter time of day last week and a heavier one today...Confused

Sorry to hear this - did you weigh at the same time of day?

Any chance you're around your period? I always put a lot of water weight on then and it definitely shows on the scales

Either way, don't let this put you off!

I'm keeping going here too. Did go out for tea last night but I didn't go crazy and looked at the menu in advance to pick something I could fit into my calories - first time ever!

Fingers crossed its all helping.

Good luck everyone

JustKeepSlimming · 12/11/2022 22:29

@Ontheedge2 yes, period is due in the next couple of days, so it could be a bit of bloating.

It was a similar time of day, although now that I think about it, last week it was maybe just before lunch and today it was just after.

I measured my waist last week too; couldn't find the tape measure today but I'll check it tomorrow and see if it's any different.

Please can I join?

I lost weight for my wedding in summer and found one of these threads so helpful. Unfortunately I've put some of it back on and would like to lose it in time for Christmas - I also have a work Christmas party early December and none of my clothes fit!

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 13/11/2022 07:11

Can I join you please?

Im on day 10 of Whole30 and need to lose a stone.

I started 11st 8lb, went down to 11.4 then up to 11.6 this morning. Which is disappointing to say the least. I need to cut down on fruit which I bloody love.

beenrumbled · 14/11/2022 04:56

Well I'm 10st 7 this morning.

So first week in and I have lost 1 1/2 lbs - telling myself it's better than nothing.

Had one large G& T last night, plus a large Sunday roast - damn those roast potatoes and my lack of will power.

I had planned to keep to an 18:6 schedule, as that's worked for me in the past, but I have found it really hard this time, to have dropped to 16:8 and hope that helps.

Back still too dodgy for exercise but I will walk to work this week again, and I made a carrot and ginger soup that will do for work lunches.

sprinkleparty · 14/11/2022 10:54

Lost 1.3kg last week, I’m amazed I dropped that much and know weight can fluctuate through the week depending on water retention etc, so will keep an eye on it and try not to be too disappointed if I don’t keep up this pace by next week. The mental shift that some of you have mentioned has really helped keep me on track.

Need to work on not eating the kids’ leftovers but I hate food waste so that’s hard in the moment.

MamOfTeens · 14/11/2022 12:08

Lost 3 pounds up to Friday but was more off plan over weekend and forgot to weigh in this morning but hopefully I’m still a pound or 2 off. My lunchtime walks won’t happen today or tomorrow but hopefully I’ll get to do Wednesday- Friday.
I’m back on plan today so far- I have so much stress going on in my life right now and I want to eat and drink wine. But I’m trying to tell myself that I’ll feel worse if I pile on a load of weight too so hoping that will stop the emotional eating 😞

Update: lost 2lb since I posted, so now back to 1lb less than when I started! Woo hoo! The scales definitely had a good think about if before settling on an answer, mind you, but I'm not complaining!

mellongoose · 14/11/2022 14:06

Hmmm weekend was not successful 🙈

Saturday was ok food wise but I had 2 pints of cider (in four halves), which obviously led to crisps!

Sunday. Breakfast none.
Lunch cavery with a small glass of red
Tea picky tea with cheese and pickles etc.

Just checking in really, to say well done to all of you and to keep myself honest!

My issue is not being motivated for exercise. I need to start C25K AGAIN and can't seem to want to do it 🙈 Tips welcome !!

petuniasandpetals · 14/11/2022 14:20

Just been told I'm T2 diabetic and I already have some problems so I've had a scare.
I have lost 11/2 lbs since last Monday. Im now 11.3 3/4.
So far
Fat free yog and blueberries and large handful of granola. About 400 cals.
Im at Pizza Express for tea and choosing one of the low cal options.
Im going to have a snack at about 4pm. 200 cals..
And im making the carrot and curry soup v shortly.

xogossipgirlxo · 14/11/2022 15:02

Can I join please? I don't have a stone to lose, more like 5Ibs, but it's so hard to stay motivated this time of the year 🙄I need some support. Soon there will be mince pies in the office, not to mention Christmas menu in Starbucks, Costa etc. I already fell off the wagon last weekend.

Smugsmaug · 14/11/2022 21:32

Hello! Hope everyone is doing well!
Haven't weighed myself this week as feeling very bloated - hoping it’s just hormones. Hard to stay motivated when it doesn’t seem to be working 😅
Going to try and be stricter this week calories wise. Aiming to get out and do a walk every day this week too. Avidly reading all the posts for tips on how to stay motivated and to boost the process, feel like a quick win would really help motivate!

i also usually love all the festive treats this time of year! Avoiding them so instead I treated myself to a herbal Xmas tea from M&S today - gave me something to look forward to, and it was a nice festivey treat for the evening ☕️

polkadotpixie · 14/11/2022 21:51

So I weighed in this morning at 10st 5.5lbs so I've lost 2.5lbs! I'm really pleased with that considering I've been a bit hit and miss, although I was on my period last week so potentially some of it was water weight

My aim for this week is less snacking and more water and hopefully another 1.5lbs off 🤞

Curiousforever · 15/11/2022 08:31

Ahh… well done for those who are sticking with the plan Good to see so many losing weight
im still at my starting weight (had a bad weekend)
started with meal replacement shakes yesterday hopefully that will help?
also need to find motivation to exercise :/

This is a good idea, some replacement, so I don't feel deprived.

Firsteatthefrog · 15/11/2022 12:20

I thought I had posted but it didn’t work. My plan was 1600 calories and no drinking at home. I’m on week 3 of a 6 week exercise programme as well so I’ve done well in parts 2 and 3 I. but not so good on part 1 which is unfortunately the bit that will make me lose weight. Need to knuckle down!

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 15/11/2022 18:31

I'm down from 11st 8lb to 11st 4.4lb

Currently doing Whole30

beenrumbled · 15/11/2022 20:13

Well done to everyone who is staying on track!

I fell off the walking to work wagon today. DH dropped me off and picked me up from work because it was raining so heavily. But I did go for a short walk after tea. I'm still 800 steps short of 10,000 though.

Food wise not so bad. But still need to drink more water!

Smugsmaug · 15/11/2022 21:07

Another one here lagging behind on the physical activity. Good day food wise, stuck to whole foods, lots of fibre etc. Currently reading fast 800 diet book, have incorporated the 8 hour eating window.

Glenthebattleostrich · 16/11/2022 06:17

Morning, daftly busy week followed by a weekend feeling blurg with a cold and cough and my period. Food not the best but getting better. Having loads of water, switched to mint green tea at work which os helping. 2.2lb off this week so pleased with that.

beenrumbled · 16/11/2022 07:17

Morning!

I'm going to struggle getting my steps in again today, so I've decided that every little helps, and have made a promise to myself that any time I put the microwave on for a couple of minutes today (soup, microwaveable heatpack) I will walk on the spot or march p and down the kitchen instead of standing looking at it or my phone! I use a heat pack a lot at the moment for my back.

Breakfast was oat and wheat bran porridge with some mixed berries I defrosted over night. Made with skimmed milk.

Lunch - more homemade carrot, lentil and gingr soup.

Tea is going to be some left over pasta - although I am trying to reduce processed carbs so I will be very careful with portion size. Followed by some Greek yoghurt and some more mixed fruit.

I'm already on my second cup of tea, but I have skimmed milk with it so don't feel too bad. I'm determined to drink more water today.

Ontheedge2 · 16/11/2022 10:08

Woke up feeling really hungry today after losing 2.2lb in the last week. Just finishing my period so thought I'd manage to duck the ravenous hunger - I was probably feeling too smug about it internally!

I'm going to try and rein it in and not eat everything in sight - wish me luck!

Smugsmaug · 16/11/2022 10:13

Good luck!

Does anyone else feel restless in the evenings/bedtime? Could it be boredom? The reduction in calories? The detox from processed foods/carbs?
