anybloodyname · 01/07/2022 17:59

☹️😢😭

BeyondMyWits · 01/07/2022 18:25

You OK @anybloodyname ?

Iamclearlyamug · 01/07/2022 18:27

Can I join? I've failed my diet every single day for about 2 months now and I've gained 2 stone in a year 😭😭

anybloodyname · 01/07/2022 18:29

Yes thank you @BeyondMyWits just shamelessly placemarking - another failed diet here , so fed up with being fat

Positivelypatient · 01/07/2022 18:34

Oh god I really need a kick up the arse, have been trying to get back on the IF wagon for months. Manage a week or two then it's all down the pan again. Monday will be my Day 1, back to work after a week off and NO distractions!

Readytostartagain · 01/07/2022 18:38

Just checking but still on holiday and out for dinner tonight so July starts on Sunday for me with the cost holiday weigh in 😞

poorpaws · 01/07/2022 21:04

Wow some lovely new members which equals even more support.

A very big welcome to all newcomers, don't despair we are all in this together. We might not always get it right, we may fail dramatically at times but if we all stick together and support each other, we'll win through somehow. It might take some of us a long time to get to where we want to be, but that's ok, we have time. If we keep at the diet and stay together through this we will all achieve our goal one day.

(I feel like Winston Churchill with my little speech ... we shall fight them on the beaches ... 😀).

Just for newcomers, we have set a July mini challenge if you'd like to join us. No pressure, just choose your own target for the end of July and see if we can make it and it doesn't have to be a big target, this is not a punishing thread. Of course if you don't want to set a target, that's fine too, just do what you can.

I hope the first day of the month went well for everyone.

ItWillBeDone · 01/07/2022 23:15

I would love to join you, having failed so many times over the past few years. Spotting this thread has made me decide to brave the scales tomorrow. I already know it won't be pretty!

triplecheeese · 01/07/2022 23:40

Hello everyone, found my way over here! Terribly exciting that we filled up a whole thread with our exploits!

Just place marking for now as I have a lot to catch up on previous thread so will head back and read and come back here to reply...

July mini goal is 3lbs off. The scales did start to shift in June but then I got so stressed about going back to work and having no clothes I ate my stress... may as well eat the old clothes.

join us everyone and welcome one and all. KBO x

poorpaws · 02/07/2022 08:06

Welcome to everyone who joined us after my last post. Stay with us, we have lovely people on here who will give lots of support.

New Thread New Me! this is our new motto and might help us focus. By the end of this thread some of us could reach our goal weight and others could lose many pounds, just imagine how you'll feel.

Yesterday (day 1 of our new target) went ok. I did a lone dog walk as DP had a dental appointment and I really enjoyed walking with the dogs without any talking, knowing I was improving my health.

Since it was a lovely day I decided to increase my step total and take them in the evening too. This was scuppered when a friend visited just as I was about to leave and by the time she'd gone I'd lost focus on my step count. The food was good and I went to bed early (reading mumsnet) to stop any usual evening sabotage.

Day 2 and it's raining here. With the right protective clothes on I'll walk in the rain but two out of three dogs hate it. I really could do with the steps though so I might try to coax force them out.

Have a good day everyone, keep posting and do your best.

Yay... Nice to see newbies... 👋

I've found that checking in on this thread actually helps with motivation.

I am on the downward path weight wise... (very) slow and steady, with some plateaus and an occasional upward blip. Everyone has their ups and downs and it feels lovely to have the support of likeminded souls in a quest we are all having a go at.

Had (way too big a portion of) fish and chips last night, so this weekend needs to be a lighter one if I'm going to see any results this week! Having had a big step (16 stone something to now 15 stone something) there is NO WAY ON THIS PLANET that I want to go back over that threshold!

Is everyone feeling motivated this weekend? I appear to have found some post covid "oomph" again... How's the foot @poorpaws .

poorpaws · 02/07/2022 08:33

@BeyondMyWits hi, you are sounding very motivated again and this is bound to reflect on the scales. I too am trying hard now we've got a brand new thread with more people joining.

My foot is so much better thank you and apart from the skin being a bit more of a red colour than the rest, it's all good. I feel so lucky it only caught the side of my foot, it could have been so nasty.

I'm trying to be positive for July and I so want to see a big loss but already have two meals out planned next week (unusual for me as I don't do much). It's always the same, as soon as I decide to knuckle down to the diet, the invitations come in. One meal is a carvery so I guess I'll fill my plate with veg (although their cauliflower cheese is wonderful).

Hope your positivity lasts @BeyondMyWits and I'm so glad you are staying with us on Thread Two. We are so lucky to have such lovely supportive people on here.

Hi everyone and welcome to any new joiners 👋

Thanks @poorpaws for starting a new thread.

Feeling motivated for July, my mini challenge is 3lbs.

poorpaws · 02/07/2022 09:20

@endlesswashing you are another motivated one, I hope it lasts for all of us.
I think a new thread has jump started us all into sorting out our weight. So many of us lost our oomph towards the end of the last thread and quite a few new people have joined which will also motivate us 🤞🏻

I hope we all manage to keep the "oomph".

Positivelypatient · 02/07/2022 09:52

Hi again, thank you for the welcome and hello to other new joiners too!

Thank you for the encouragement @poorpaws I like the idea of a mini target for July so I am going to aim for 7 lbs, this is with the premise that I'll be intermittent fasting 16:8 and keeping to a majority low carb diet. I KNOW this works for me but I find myself sidetracked so easily. If i manage that it'll take me to my next Stone threshold though I have much to lose!!

I lost 2.5 st in the first lockdown with this and also I got back in to running starting again with the C25K app. If any of you are keen to start running I would highly recommend it as its achievable in small steady chunks.

Anyway, as I mentioned previously, I'll be starting on Monday, typically I have a meal out tonight to celebrate an anniversary and my OH is here this weekend so Sunday will be a roast.

Theredjellybean · 02/07/2022 10:20

Amazing news today...71.9 kg
i have not been under 72kg for a year....hurrah

welcome all btw..we are a very supportive group, with lots of successes, some static and some bouncing arounders...but by being here we are all at least stopping scales going up and up...

@poorpaws ...my tip for the carvery is have a very small portion of the cauli cheese, its ok to have it, no food should be seen as bad but its all about portion control
I realised my portions control had faltered a bit, back on it and a week of tight MFP logging and portion control to keep to calorie deficeit and its working.

anybloodyname · 02/07/2022 10:32

Off food shopping - my list consists of

5 lbs of oomph
2 packs of anything low carb
1 bag of naughty but nice
4 bags of colour

Have I missed anything ?

BeyondMyWits · 02/07/2022 13:34

@Theredjellybean way to go! That's absolutely brilliant. And I totally agree with the advice to have a little of what you fancy. Otherwise you just feel disappointed in the meal and eat too much anyhow!
@anybloodyname you can never have too much oomph, I'd shove some more in there... June saw many of us completely oomphless...😆

Theredjellybean · 02/07/2022 13:47

Personally I think there was supply chain issues in June on oomph.. But its back in stick on BOGOF

poorpaws · 02/07/2022 14:40

@anybloodyname

We might need:

2 lbs of motivation
Sack of support
1 lb of good luck
5 lbs (or a lot more) of willpower

And returns:

A cupboard full of chocolate
