1lb a week …

BrambleRoses · 17/01/2022 19:56

So … anyone want to join me?

1lb a week. So no pressure. There may be some weeks we don’t lose but then we may lose 2 the next week. Achievable.

I’ve just gone through my phone and if I lose 1lb a week, every week … I’ll be 9 stone by 24 October!

I’ve failed in the past because I have been too rigid and then broken it. So this time I’m deliberately going for slow.

Start weight - 12 stone.

I'll join you Brambleroses - in 14st and got 4st to lose so think slow and steady may be best way to go

Justkeeppedaling · 17/01/2022 20:04

I'm in.
I've lost 4lb since 1/1/22, which feels about right.
I'm using meal replacement protein shakes and walking 10,000 steps a day. I just want to lose a stone by my birthday in mid Feb.

BrambleRoses · 17/01/2022 20:06

If you post your goal weight @Toomuch2019 I’ll work out when you will reach it! Grin

Thanks BrambleRoses -14 st with a goal of 10st, so some nice round numbers at least!
BrambleRoses · 17/01/2022 20:18

Great so:

13 stone 18 April
12 stone 25 July
11 stone 31 October
10 stone 6 Feb 2023.

Which feels ages away but isn’t really. And you’ll look awesome on the way down anyway.

1lb down in three weeks argh!

I'm starting to feel tummy muscles though so if I keep at it, I might have the stamina to do more in a session.

Toomuch2019 · 18/01/2022 19:48

Thanks for the stats @BrambleRoses!

How did everyone get on today? My aim was to not snack and have managed that so feeling fairly happy with that

VerveClique · 18/01/2022 19:49

Yes @BrambleRoses! Same as you!

TheChemicalMother · 18/01/2022 20:11

Just popping up to say GOOD LUCK!

I was on a 1lb a week (roughly) campaign from about May 20 to March 21, it worked, and has been easy to maintain since.

My tips;
Make some small but significant adjustments with the aim being healthier eating. I stopped eating unhealthy snacks/ got my snacking under control / only ate healthy and low cal snacks.

Don’t give up if you have a day ‘off the rails’. Just get back on track the next day.

Look at your healthy adjustments as a good, positive happy thing to do because you are looking after yourself. Do not for one moment see it as a punitive regime or think of your body negatively.

If you get a little increase from time to time…so what, Little up-spikes or plateaus in an overall downward slope don’t matter in the bigger picture. Shrug and move on.

Slow and steady really works - Goid luck!

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 09:46

Thank you, I need some encouragement as I’ve inexplicably gained 1lb. I really can’t see how as although I’m having to isolate at the moment, I have been ensuring I do 10,000 steps still - NOT easy, and I’ve adjusted my food intake accordingly.

Hoping it is just a blip and by the end of the week it will have evened out (I know that you shouldn’t weigh yourself every day but I do find it quite difficult not to.)

OP posts:
Windyone · 19/01/2022 09:51

I think you need to roughly cut 500 calories per day to lose 1lb a week. Obviously not exactly the same for everyone but it’s a useful starting place.

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 09:53

I haven’t been having more than 1000 because I’ve been concerned my activity levels are low due to isolating.

OP posts:
spagbog5 · 19/01/2022 09:56

Can I join you please.
I'm 12st 1 lb and would ideally like to be 10st 9 lb.
I'm upping my walking and eating three meals a day and no picking!

Bimblybomeyelash · 19/01/2022 09:56

I’m really going to try and join you guys.

Strategies -
NO snacking/chocolate
Portion control
Exercise

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 09:59

@spagbog5 - I make that on target by 8th June!

@Bimblybomeyelash, would you like me to work out a target? Smile

OP posts:
spagbog5 · 19/01/2022 10:01

@BrambleRoses
Awesome
Thanks so much
We are having a big family holiday to celebrate my 50 th at the beginning of July so that perfect !
That's really spurred me on .

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 10:07

Well, by 8 June I should be well on my way … 10’6! So while I won’t be on target, i do feel pretty good when I’m under 10 and a half stone so that’s something to aim for.

And thanks @TheChemicalMother, should have acknowledged you earlier but I was fed up my scales weren’t co operating.

OP posts:
ButWhereDidTheWindComeFrom · 19/01/2022 10:12

I'd love to join if I may.

I think i am about 13.7 stone, but will weight msyelf on friday. My aim is to be 10 stone 5 to 10 stone 7.

I am an all or nothing, and have a problem with restricting then bingeing. So slow and steady would be great.

This week my plan is to just try and not binge, then check my starting weight on Friday. [shivers with fear]

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 10:21

Not bingeing is a great start.

So assuming 13’7 as a start weight, you will be …

12’7 on the 27th April.
11’7 on the 3rd august
10’7 on the 9th November!

Just imagine if we all kept this thread going how amazing we’ll all look next autumn / winter … and even those of us who won’t be all the way there by summer will have lost a lot!

Taking today’s date as a start point, with 1lb a week, that’s:

1 stone by the 27th April
2 stone by the 3rd august

So 2 stone by summer. And 3 stone by 9 November!

Of course, there might be weeks we don’t lose but then there will be other weeks where we lose 2/3lbs so I think it’s good to have these targets!

OP posts:
ButWhereDidTheWindComeFrom · 19/01/2022 10:28

Oh lovely thanks!!

2 stone by summer would be wonderful. :)

Slow adjustments could well be a gamechanger for me. I throw myself into things then get depressed and give up. If I stop panicking and just keep the eye on the overall aim then fingers crossed.

BrambleRoses · 19/01/2022 10:35

Same, that’s why I’m thinking 1lb a week is slow but so achievable. And better to lose slow and lose a stone by Easter than keep losing 5lbs and gaining and being stuck in the same place!

OP posts:
BelladiMamma · 19/01/2022 10:46

Placemarking!

Great idea. Thanks for sharing

BrambleRoses · 20/01/2022 08:20

11’12 this morning!

OP posts:
ButWhereDidTheWindComeFrom · 21/01/2022 06:33

Morning! I almost forgot to weigh in before I had coffee but thankfully remembered in time.

I am 13 stone 4.8 pounds. I am pleased with that as last time I weighed in I was 13.7 and I assumed I had out on since then over Cristmas etc.

This week I wish only to not binge (3 moderate meals a day) and will try and get 20 minutes of esercise a day.

I feel very inspired!

GalacticGoddess · 21/01/2022 08:28

@BrambleRoses Same start weight, 12stone- currently a true UK 14.
I got down to 11s10 before Christmas which is the lightest I've been in 2 years but back up again not due to Christmas but more the

1st Goal weight 11s7 (12/14)
2nd Goal weight 11stone (roughly a size 12)
Final goal: 10s10 and I should be a small 12, big 10 at this point

I can't seem to make anything stick and I was meant to be at my 1st goal for my bday end of Jan. Very deflated! I just have very little energy and don't know where to start with food/

It's worth noting I have been 9/10stone before but I did this through extreme diet and 4 weights and cardio sessions a week. I was a student though! Im now a mum with a more or less full time job, other commitments and due to start a Masters in September 🤦🏾‍♀️

Im sick of being this big! Nothing I like feels good on me and it doesn't suit my frame. I could easily stop at 11stone and feel good as im quite muscly naturally but I can't get there! HELP!

(Also, I hate salads, eggs, most meats!, and fussy foods that take ages)
