Trying to get from a size 12 to a size 8... anyone want to join me?

I was determined that this year would be the year and so far all I've done is gain weight.

After crying this morning because none of my clothes fit, tomorrow I am starting again. I'm planning to calorie count - anyone want to join to support each other through, on any WOE?

Yes please! Fed up of always saying I will do something about it and then just staying the same. I am about 10st7 (9 after last nights kebab...) and would love to lose 2 stone. I am going to calorie count but also LC as much as possible as it fills me up and I make better food choices.

How often will you weigh?

greedymum · 08/06/2021 19:29

I feel the same, as we come out of lockdown I am in work occasionally and going out again and none of my clothes fit! It's so frustrating, I have good intentions every day but don't stick to the plan.

I need to lose about a stone and kicking myself for not doing it already.

Onamissionn · 08/06/2021 19:40

Me! I was a big size 12 (11stone 7) on 1st Feb and have lost weight since but now stalled at 9 stone 9 and a size 10. Would like to get to below 9 stone and into size 8. I weigh weekly

whereiscaroline · 08/06/2021 20:19

Fab @Montysauras! I think I'm going to weigh daily to try to keep focused. What about you? I'm also calorie counting, using Nutracheck. Aiming for 95g of protein a day as it keeps me full for longer.

@greedymum I've also got about a stone to lose, a little bit more. Exactly the same with old clothes not fitting. Running out of work clothes choices and loathe to spend money on new ones in a size I don't want to be!

@Onamissionn you've done brilliantly - how have you been losing weight so far?

OP posts:
Onamissionn · 08/06/2021 22:26

Thank you! Low carb, high protein. Not eating carbs meant I wasn’t hungry but then… pubs and restaurants opened and I went off track! The first week or so the cravings were tough but once I got past that it was surprisingly easy, just need to get back in the mind set! Good luck everyone Daffodil

greedymum · 09/06/2021 07:45

I am going to declare today's weight as my starting point and hopefully it will motivate me

9st 9lb - size 10

Target - 8st 13lb, size 8

About 10% of my clothes are size 10, mainly stuff I have bought recently that might still look ok if I lose weight so I really need to make the effort or concede that it's not achievable Sad

Movingup · 09/06/2021 08:14

Following! Before lockdown I was a size 6/8 on top and 8/10 on bottom.
Top half now 8/10 and bottom half size 12. Too scared to weigh myself. Just want to tone up a bit and get back into my size 10 jeans!

Montysauras · 09/06/2021 11:59

DH came back with a McDonald’s breakfast this morning Blush but hey, good the rest of the day and can still make it work with my calories.

Hope you all have a good day! I find nice weather helps suppress my appetite, just need to work on it suppressing my desire for a nice alcoholic bevvy in the evening…

humpyhump · 09/06/2021 12:20

Following!

Haven't weighed myself as I'd probably be horrified. I started doing low calorie / high protein on Monday. Trying to increase my exercise too as my job has me pretty much sedentary during the day. So far so good and determined to stick to it. Like pp just desperate to feel more toned and fit into old clothes!!

whereiscaroline · 09/06/2021 19:05

How's everyone doing today?

I'm within calories but my sugar has been quite high thanks to fruit and Jaffa Cakes Shock

Just getting ready for Bootcamp in half an hour.... no pain no gain and all that!

I’m in! I’m bulging into a size 12 and previously always been a 6/8. Now that summer is here I have an entire wardrobe of clothes I can’t wear 😭 I’m weighing in at 63kg which is 9 stone 9lb and I’d like to lose about a stone. I have really bulged in my middle since hitting 40 so now looking for exercise to tackle the belly fat! Considering Shaun T beach body but does anyone have any other recommendations? I have to do it from home as I’m a solo parent. Have cut out alcohol and no snacks, crisps etc. Eating eggs and toast for breakfast but no bread the rest of the day just salads!

PizzaBreath · 09/06/2021 23:23

Yes please! I need a kick up the bum, none of my summer clothes fit!

Hope bootcamp went ok @whereiscaroline?!

This sounds perfect for me, I’m 5 foot 3 and 11st 4, depending on the item I’m a size 12 or 14.

I’m not sure I will ever be a size 8 but I’m definitely aiming for a 10. My knee is starting to ache and the extra weight will only make it worse.

I have found and charged my Fitbit as I think wfh has decreased my activity dramatically and increased my snacking.

I have also been renovating our house so haven’t had the time or energy to cook properly and have rewarded our hard work with junk food and alcohol.

I even have a gym room and a Les Mills subscription, which I recommend, there is lots of choice on there, everything from weights to spin to combat and yoga inspired workouts. Not that I have used it this year.....

Ok so my plan for this week:

Get to 10k steps a day
Skip breakfast and not eat till lunch
No alcohol
No more buying large bags of crisps

Will aim to start properly exercising in the next few weeks

whereiscaroline · 10/06/2021 08:58

Welcome everyone

@Munda like @dashel I'm a member of Les Mills On Demand and find their workouts great, there's something for everyone on there. I just struggle to actually motivate myself to do them and therein lies the problem... 🤣

@PizzaBreath bootcamp was great thanks. Definitely work harder when I've got the shame factor of a group setting!

@weesleekitcowrantimrousbeast look forward to having you join us next week!

@Dashel sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. Perhaps we can motivate each other to use our LMOD subscriptions 🙈

How did the rest of your day go yesterday @Montysauras ?

OP posts:
Munda · 10/06/2021 09:05

@whereiscaroline great thanks I’ll have a look! Still in the honeymoon motivated phase but it is only day 4 for me 🤣 Just hope it will last!

Pearl97 · 10/06/2021 09:06

Omg @greedymum I am exactly the same weight. I want to be under 9 stone too!

greedymum · 10/06/2021 09:52

@Pearl97 its so frustrating isn't it, that extra 9 or 10lbs makes such a difference to your shape and clothes.

I'm thinking of doing a severe calorie restricted diet for a week to kick start then sticking to 1200 cals.

Has anyone had decent results from regular yoga? I'm thinking tone rather than weight loss.

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/06/2021 09:54

Ooooooh. Good thread!

Dashel · 10/06/2021 09:57

I also do Yoga with Adrienne and she says the hardest thing is getting on the mat and it’s so true. At one point I was doing 10 mile runs and pump, attack and rpm every week and now I struggle to go for a walk.

I hate being so squishy and there is so much fat around my chin and throat it’s uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I have never had a six pack but I want to feel ok in myself again.

Getting on the scales this morning was a victory in itself as I have been putting it off for 6 months

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/06/2021 09:58

I wouldn’t go for severe calorie restriction every day as it can damage your metabolism. What is meant to keep your metabolism high is fasting mixed with low carb. Most of the time it’s the ‘doing something in a routine’ that stops the fat loss from working, as your body just adapts. So mixing up short fasts with long fasts (for example a 16:8, then a 20:4, then throw in a 36 hour fast once a month). Eating very low sugar/no sugar. High protein/moderate fat/low or no carb. HIT for exercise. That would definitely work but it takes a great mindset if you enjoy eating.

happydan · 10/06/2021 09:59

Can I join, I'm the same size 12 with a fat tummy

Munda · 10/06/2021 10:07

I’ve ordered Fast 800 which I’ve heard really good things about. I think it’s a week of calorie restrictions followed by fasting. It’s just so annoying why is it so easy to gain weight but so hard to lose it 🤣

greedymum · 10/06/2021 10:09

@Dashel I've started the 30 days with Adrienne a couple times, I am
Going to try and complete one and @justanotherneighinparadise good advice Smile

I seem to lose weight from top down so can start to look drawn in the face well before my jeans fit, sigh..
