I was determined that this year would be the year and so far all I've done is gain weight.

After crying this morning because none of my clothes fit, tomorrow I am starting again. I'm planning to calorie count - anyone want to join to support each other through, on any WOE?

It's meant to say beginning of lockdown.

NumbMind · 12/06/2021 08:08

Oooh yes please can I join too!

@Begonias I am exactly the same weight (64kg) and cannot fit into my size 10 work clothes! Argh. I'm about 166cm I think.

Went back into the office and had a laugh with everyone as I managed to shoe horn myself into a pair of trousers but because my legs are bigger, the calf bit kept getting caught on my legs and I had to keep pulling them down! I am now stuck in dresses till I can shed the weight

Normally if I can get down to 58kg I can squeeze into a size 10 so that's what I'm aiming for!

ShinyGreenElephant · 12/06/2021 08:11

Can I join? I'm currently around 10.5 stone and size 10, I want to get down to 9 stone which is a slim size 8 for me. I'm feeding a baby and a toddler so constantly starving but it's still doable if I make good food choices. Been losing 2lb a week since I had my youngest in March but I've just thrown my husband out and have been comforting eating since Blush so put a good bit back on. Starting again and sticking to it so need some support / accountability. Everyone in real life just goes "You don't need to lose weight" but I really do.

Dashel · 12/06/2021 08:21

Morning all and hello to all the new people!

So yesterday went pretty well, 10.5k steps and apart from a few squares of chocolate I stuck to my plan so I’m pretty pleased with that.

I’m massively bloated today and just want to eat carbs, fat and junk so although I’m going to try to be reasonably good, I’m not going to be as good as I will be mid week.

Intentions for the day:

10k steps
Museli for breakfast
Leftover quinoa tofu and veggies for lunch
Vegan steak, asparagus, tomatoes and a few oven chips for dinner
Fruit
A few squares of chocolate if needed.

I tend to be a bit more relaxed on the weekend with calories but not going over the 2k.

@ShinyGreenElephant sorry to hear about your issues with your husband, especially when you have such a young baby, it must be really tough x

OnlyToWin · 12/06/2021 08:23

Thanks for starting this great thread.

Just wondered for those of you that low carb/have protein based diet…how do you find that works with exercise? If you run do you find that protein is enough or do you allow yourself some carbs on those days?
I am fit but would like to lose weight and still be able to have the energy/fuel to exercise. Thanks SmileSmile

alphabiggins · 12/06/2021 08:45

Can I join? Currently 11stone 9 at 5ft 9 and would love to see 10 stone. Perimenapause and a change of career (lots of driving and sitting) means I've really piled on the weight.

I'm vegan to @Dashel so will be stealing ideas. My problem is too much fat and carbs and not enough protein. I use lose it app which is great for logging and checking calories, exercise and water.

I use to be super fit and exercise every day but I'm struggling to fit it in due to long hours and lack of motivation.

I'm going to follow 16:8, reduce carbs, 11k steps a day , 45 min dog walk every day and 30 mins exercise (running or less mills) every day. My plan is to set alarm 30 mins earlier (5:30) and get it done.

This plan worked for me before and although hard at first I soon got into routine.

Good luck everyone Smile

whereiscaroline · 12/06/2021 08:56

Welcome along everyone Smile

Plan for today:

• 10k steps which should be achievable as I've a dog to walk and also packing up ready to move house
• very low calorie breakfast and lunch to give myself more calories to have a nice dinner with the family tonight and another Mini Milk!

Sadly missed bootcamp this morning as waiting for recovery vehicle to come sort my car out...

I think this is the place for me Smile - watching all your advice and tips with interest.

I’m verging on a size 12 due to lockdown and being 48 (and greedy/lazy Grin) - too complacent about being naturally slim for 40 years and now struggling to lose the extra.

I know it’s all relative, but when your clothes don’t fit, your clothes don’t fit! Think I’ve found my people… will absorb all advice.

NumbMind · 12/06/2021 13:16

I have not done well today as my university kids are home and eating like they've not seen a fridge for a year

That has meant bacon and eggs already and Prosecco Blush

I have decided to go for a run tomorrow to atone. I am aiming to run 5km 3x a week. I went on Saturday and Tuesday this week so Sunday is a bit of a stretch to count in one week but I figure it's week one so we're just starting out :)

JulietBravo999 · 12/06/2021 13:27

Is there room for another one? Medium sized. Budge up!

I’m currently about 12lbs over my “usually easy to maintain without too much effort” weight. Really unmotivated (not helped by cancelled holiday so bikini body not required) eat healthy meals but snack far too much in the evening, cba doing proper exercise. I know that if I cut the biscuits and choc and just walk a bit more I can lose most of it.

I’m 10’5 today (was 10’7 a few days ago)
Should be about 9’7
Would love to be 9’3.

Hoping this thread gives me a big kick up my fat arse Grin

ZenNudist · 12/06/2021 13:34

Im size 12, used to be size 10. Im 5'3". Been on holiday so eaten out every night and endless ice cream, alcohol and treats.

Thing is I've run and swam all year a d stayed off alcohol and been pretty good about not buying sugary treats.

Evening snacking is my downfall.

Mumski45 · 12/06/2021 13:47

Can I join please. I'm currently 9st 7 trying to back to about 8st 10 which my happy weight at which all my clothes fit comfortably. Put on weight in last 8 months as I've had a back injury which has been painful and not able to exercise. It's not gone yet but I'm feeling more positive am back to cycling and am back on mfp to track calories.

I'm aiming for 1200 a day unless I do a bike ride in which case I aim to eat back half my exercise calories. It's worked for me before so I just need to stick at it for long enough..

Mumski45 · 12/06/2021 13:51

@OnlyToWin I find that low carbs doesn't work for me when exercising. I feel really weak if I try so it's about finding a balance. However my exercise is in big chunks. Ie some days I do nothing and others I get out my bike for 2-3 hours and can use up well over 1000cals so sticking to 1200 and LC on those days will never work for me.

Mumski45 · 12/06/2021 13:57

Today is a good day so far. I've had a piece of toast for breakfast. 2 pieces of toast and an almond and coconut bar for lunch but have used 927c on a bike ride this morning so I've worked out I have 1290 left for the day. Need to get more protein fruit and veg in now as that's all a bit carb heavy.

lorisparkle · 12/06/2021 14:19

So following on from some good advice my plan is to reduce the carbs and try 16:8. I really should do some exercise too!

I really struggle with evening snacking so any ideas welcome!

Yesterday I succeeded with my 'no biscuits' plan but failed today with 2 Oreos for breakfast. Tomorrow is another day!

Mumski45 · 12/06/2021 14:26

I try to leave all treats to the end of the day. My resolve is always stronger in the morning so it feels easier. If I end up eating a more calorie heavy evening meal it gives more flexibility.

It also reduces the number of treats in a day as I would not have more than a few hundred calls in one go.

I see it as a reward for doing well during the day.

Munda · 12/06/2021 14:42

To combat evening snacking I took up knitting! 🤣 Can’t eat and snack at the same time and it keeps my hands busy! I’ve been knitting for charity which also helps me feel virtuous! Weighed myself today 62.9 so hardly a huge loss after being good since Monday 😕

Clever 😂
Insert1x20p · 12/06/2021 15:27

Hi- can I join? I’m 5’7’’ and weigh 71kg. Want to be 65kg which for me is small size 10/ vanity 8. Happy to lose slowly. Put on 5kg in lockdown. Also Pretty sure I’m in peri as my boobs keep doubling in size at random. Main vices: alcohol and laziness. I actually like healthy food but cba to make it so grab ( eg) massive chunk of cheese and a pack of crisps for lunch.

OnlyToWin · 12/06/2021 16:26

Thanks @Mumski45 that’s what I thought - I will try and avoid carbs on non- running days.

AOwlAOwlAOwl · 12/06/2021 16:40

Can I join?

Been hovering between 64-66kg for months and months. I am quite muscular but I lost a significant amount of weight a couple of years ago and put a bit back on in lockdown. Not enough to get my boobs back but enough to make my midsection look really unimpressive and a general layer of flab everywhere.

foxywheaton75 · 12/06/2021 16:57

Great thread, please could I join.
I'm around 10 stone and in a size 12 but want to get back into my size 10 clothes.
Peri menopause and general lack of motivation is my problem.
Hoping this thread will spur me on a bit.

lorisparkle · 12/06/2021 17:03

@Munda I love the idea of taking up knitting - I do enjoy craft activities and haven't knitted in years!!!

Munda · 12/06/2021 17:19

I just learnt from my Mum last year and then used youtube. I’m currently knitting worry monsters for therapy but there are loads of fantastic groups on fb with worthy knitting ideas. It honestly stops me snacking which is great!
How’s everyone doing today? We are having bbq for tea along with everyone else I bet!

Mumski45 · 12/06/2021 17:39

DH has decided to get fish and chips for him and the boys so I'm sorting myself out. F&S is not on my list for the moment 😢
