Trying to get from a size 12 to a size 8... anyone want to join me?

I was determined that this year would be the year and so far all I've done is gain weight.

After crying this morning because none of my clothes fit, tomorrow I am starting again. I'm planning to calorie count - anyone want to join to support each other through, on any WOE?

I wish this thread had been here in March because this was exactly my goal to get back to prelockdown size.

Just posting to cheer you all on and say what I did, but it's actually exactly what @justanotherneighinparadise has said. I had some false starts until I realised I had to switch things up completely. I did low carb / med protein / high fat + fasting (broke the fasts at different times every day but never before 11am).

It's hard work especially those last few pounds but now I'm there I've found it quite easy to maintain. Fluctuating between 8st4 and 8st8.

I found simple foods the easiest (and still do). One ingredient foods, basically. Cheese, meat, eggs, any vegetables, olives, fish, cream. If I felt snacky in the evenings I'd grab a tray of ice cubes and eat em like a box of chocolates Grin

Good luck everyone!

@whereiscaroline good thank you! Didn’t eat again until dinner and had a massive tuna salad. Scrambled eggs, cheese and tomato on the menu for breakfast, cucumber and hummus for a snack and homemade lamb kebab with salad for dinner.

Hope you all have a good day ☺️

Montysauras · 10/06/2021 10:33

Well done @winched that’s wonderful - I would love to be that weight! I’m back to my pre pregnancy weight but was never really happy at this size so would leave to lose 2 stone!

I totally agree, the low carb diet is so much more filling and I love having a higher fat diet… cheese, avocado, hummus.. yum! Glad you’ve found something sustainable as that’s the most important thing Smile

Munda · 10/06/2021 11:45

Does anyone have any lunch ideas? I’m currently eating salad with roasted chickpeas but all ideas for simple and easy welcome!

Onamissionn · 10/06/2021 13:10

Munda I like making egg wraps to replace sandwiches. Make a plain egg omelette, let it cool, add fillings and wrap into a wrap. I like it with salmon and cream cheese, tuna salad, cheese etc.

Ooooh keep talking!!!!! I love that my advice was good lol. I just need to actually adhere to it 🤣🤣

What a great idea!!!!
Seesawmummadaw · 10/06/2021 13:31

I have found my people!
I was too thin at a 6/8 but now a 12. Nothing fits! I do feel healthier so don’t want it all gone.
I want to loose a stone, maybe just half!

Dashel · 10/06/2021 13:58

For lunch I have cooked some quinoa and I’m going to fry with a small dash of oil some pepper, sweet corn, peas, red onion and tofu and serve with lettuce and tomato.

A go to lunch is onion and chickpeas fried with some spices and a few small chopped tomatoes in a pitta.

I try and make enough for an extra portion.

I am currently on a walk even though it’s horrible outside. I live by open countryside but I tend to work through lunch. If anyone is interested in meeting on Fitbit for some step challenges I would be very interested in that.

lorisparkle · 10/06/2021 14:25

It is so good to find people in the same situation. I have always been 8/10 but in lockdown I gained over a stone and now all my clothes are too tight. Will power is what is lacking and living with 3 pre teen/teenage boys who eat like horses doesn't help either!!!

lorisparkle · 10/06/2021 14:27

I also wonder about the affect of menopause/peri menopause on my stubborn weight and flabby tummy - but it probably is too many biscuits!!!

Dashel · 11/06/2021 09:18

Good morning everyone!

I thought I should affirm my intentions for the day.

Hit 10k steps - even if it’s horrendous outside
Skip breakfast
No alcohol or crisps
Lunch same as yesterday quinoa, tofu, veggies and salad
Probably vegan kebabs in pittas with salad for dinner
Fruit

I hit 11k steps, stuck to healthy food but woke up starving at 2am which then makes me hungrier today.

I think my main meals haven’t been too bad for the vast majority of meals but it’s just the extra treats and lack of movement in the week that i need to be stricter about.

whereiscaroline · 11/06/2021 10:29

Oooh I like the idea of stating our daily intentions @Dashel

Yours sound good - will you go for a long walk to get to your 10k steps or do you find it not too much of a challenge to get them in?

My intentions:

  • salad from work at lunch and not get tempted by the lovely hot choices in the canteen
  • 8k steps
  • stick to 1400 calories as I went slightly over yesterday
  • no alcohol tonight both for the sake of saving calories and so I'm up in time to get to bootcamp for 8am tomorrow 😬

Sounds like a good plan

So today I am aiming for no biscuits, more fruit and more steps!

Unfortunately I did go out last night and helped a friend drink a bottle of wine so that was not a good plan!

Montysauras · 11/06/2021 10:48

My plan is to not drink any wine or eat the Hotel Chocolat dipping platter my DH bought for me… might save it for tomorrow in case I need a post jab pick me up.

Sending lots of strength and willpower to you all, the weekend is always a struggle for me Grin

Dashel · 11/06/2021 14:50

I went for a 15 minute walk before work and a 30 min one at lunchtime and I’m trying to move more during the day, using the upstairs toilet if I’m downstairs or taking recycling to the outside bin.

I looked at my fit bit calories burned page calculation for yesterday and it was 2235 where as if I do no steps it’s 1361 and whilst I know there is a massive room for error it does inspire me to walk more

Bodgers · 11/06/2021 15:01

Hope I’m not too late to the party. Size 12 looking to get to size 10 here, was 11st2 a few days ago, now 10st10. Aiming to get to 10st.

I’m currently doing 16:8 fasting. Eating window is 12pm - 8pm. Trying to significantly reduce carbs. Having lots of coffee in the morning to stave off the hunger. 50 minute brisk (out of breath) walk each day. No yummy carbs/sugary snacks. Biggest challenge: not clearing all the food off my toddler’s plate that he leaves behind Grin

Wildernesstips · 11/06/2021 15:10

I would like to join too. 5 ft 2 and 56.1kg. The weight is all on my tummy. I’m a definite 12 and am aiming for a 8/10 which I used to be before peri-menopause and before taking daily steroids. I’ve lost 4kg through using Nutracheck. So nothing is off limits, just calorie counting and trying to up my exercise if I’ve overdone it.

Looby4 · 11/06/2021 17:40

Thanks for creating this and will join you. Was a 10 and 55 kg now a good size 12, 14 in Next Jeans (!) and 64kg. Nothing fits. Blaming lockdown and peri menopause as well as too much wine! Going to drop carbs from Sunday.

debbrianna · 11/06/2021 17:42

I need join. I hope I am not too late. I started the shakes again today

whereiscaroline · 11/06/2021 21:36

The more the merrier, welcome along @Bodgers @Wildernesstips @Looby4 and @debbrianna

Hope everyone has got on ok today. I'm eating a Mini Milk instead of a share bag of Twirl Bites so counting this as a win.

Got a puncture on my way home tonight so no boot camp for me in the morning. Will try to get up early regardless and whack a Les Mills on.

Wildernesstips · 11/06/2021 21:40

Feeling good this evening: just under my calorie goal and did some exercise too. No alcohol which always helps because then I get snacky.

Mini milks are amazing, but I only like the vanilla ones.

Begonias · 12/06/2021 07:11

Ooh this is just what I needed. I weigh 64kgs and seem to put on 8kgs over the last year thanks to shielding. I was a slim size 10 could squeeze into an 8, currently I'm having to breathe in just to zip my work trousers( teenage daughters are in hysterics every morning). So I wear elasticated waist trousers 😭

Begonias · 12/06/2021 07:14

Would love to get back to at least 55kgs, I'm 5ft5. Pre children I was a size 8, weighed 49kg but that was 18yrs ago. I think I'll start T25 by Shaun T, in the past it worked wonders

debbrianna · 12/06/2021 08:04

Before luckdown, I was able to wear size jeans even thought it felt tight. I went from 59kg beginning of 71kg now 😭 I have trying to lose weight but most last about a week.
