A stone or less to lose

Anyone looking for the magic stone more or less? I’m furious with myself and in a slight panic here. I had a fantastic weight loss last summer - June, July and August I lost 20lb and felt bloody brilliant. Stalled in September but kept it off until Jan then the last lockdown got to me and I have regained 7lb. Now, I know thats not loads but it puts my lovely big loss last summer back quite a bit and I can feel the inches going back on. It’s such a shame because I felt amazing slimmer and very proud of myself for shifting the pounds I’d been holding on to since my last baby (cough...three years ago!).

For context: I was 11st 9, I got to 10st 3 and am back up to 10st 10. My initial goal, which I never quite managed was 9st 12. I’d love to get there this time.

The burst of glorious weather today made me feel I want to BE slim this summer rather than “slimming” this summer. I want to do it now and not wait for the heatwave to kill my appetite Grin

Anyone else want to shift up to a stone now and not wait until two weeks before their holiday...what holiday??? Grin

EggyPegg · 31/03/2021 00:36

Yes! Hello!

None of my clothes fit properly anymore. I was looking back at some target weight photos the other day and feeling grumpy about having undone all my excellent work.

I rejoined Slimming World last week as I seem to do better when I have a weekly meeting. I also need to get back into running as that made a huge difference. Might sign up to a race.

My target was 7st 6. I got there but I'm happy up to 7st 8/9. I'm back up to 8st 4.5 as of last week.

(I'm 5'0 hence the low weights, still a healthy BMI)

I got down to 7st 12 again in lockdown 1 through SW and personal training. And then Christmas happened.

OysterMonkey · 31/03/2021 00:39

I’ll weigh myself tomorrow.
Last June (the last record I have) I was 9st 10, which is fine for me. I reckon I have put on 1/2-1 stone. That I need to shift.
How is the question?

EggyPegg · 31/03/2021 00:45

I'm currently weighing on Thursdays as that's when my SW day is.

ApplyWithin · 31/03/2021 00:46

eggypegg I’m glad you explained you are 5’tall!

OysterMonkey the only thing that has ever worked for me has been My Fitness Pal, counting every morsel and logging it. I’m a chocoholic and I couldn’t ever give it up so I just make sure I keep a record of every bite and so long as the total comes in under a fixed amount every day, I lose weight. Simple maths I guess.

I couldn’t do a proper diet or skip any food groups. I’d immediately want to binge. So this works for me and I’m back on it tomorrow!

I do a lot of short home workouts and I don’t eat before midday.

When I lose 20lb over the summer I swore these two facts were significantly factors. I’ve kept doing them during my break from MFP smugly thinking that’s all I’d need to maintain.

Wrong. It’s ALL about calorie control. I have gained despite eating nothing before midday and working out a lot. Makes you realise, weight loss is all about calories and exercise is negligible.

Thanks @ApplyWithin
I’ve never tried My Fitness Pal.
Maybe it’s worth a go.....

OysterMonkey · 31/03/2021 00:55

I think my weight gain is lack of movement. I just haven’t moved anywhere near as much wfh as I would be going to work.
So maybe a combination of logging what I eat (though I don’t actually eat that much - I’ve always had the reputation of having the appetite of a sparrow) plus doing more exercise can only be a good thing.
I saw someone on here recently said they found some dance exercise workouts, which sounded interesting. I must look that up.

EggyPegg · 31/03/2021 06:38

When I was at my tiniest it was because I went to the gym twice a week and didn't eat carbs after lunchtime (or kept them minimal). This was following a conversation with a friend who is a professional bodybuilder when I said I couldn't shift that last bit of belly.

The simple science of carbs was: Carbs turn into sugar, sugar turns into fat. After an evening meal, you are sedentary so don't burn them off.

That change made a huge difference. I just need to get back into being more structured.

I agree about the calorie counting. Which is why I do SW as I'm too lazy to count calories. I know that 1 syn = 20 calories.

I know it's a bit Marmite on MN, but I genuinely found it to work and easy to understand. A friend ofine had incredible weightless using macros but I couldn't get my head round it at all.

How did you all get on today? I’ve realised I might have been better waiting until after Easter. Bought the DC’s eggs today.... with lots of mini eggs for the egg hunt. I can hear the little blighters calling to me from the top shelf of the pantry.

Might put them in the garage..... Grin

Me, I’ll join you, I’m 5,5 and 10st 5lb, would like to be 9st 10lb, even better 9st 7lb, I already don’t eat processed food, cake or biscuits however made big mistake of making my own sourdough bread and it’s become a bit of a hobby, which of course means I need to sample it! So I’m in, think I’ll log everything on MFP. Happy to start after Easter!

badgerread · 31/03/2021 18:57

Me! last lockdown I was working out loads and got down to 8'10 (I'm 5'3) doing Joe Wicks 90 day challenge. This lockdown is the complete opposite 😫 I'm up to 9'7. I've started doing 20 min HIIT workouts 5 times a week and drinking 3L of water a day but it's not coming off as quickly as I'd like....

OysterMonkey · 31/03/2021 19:32

Well I weighed myself, so that was a start!
10st 2.
So that’s 6lbs. Tbh I thought it would be more. It looks and feels more.
I’ll start My Fitness Pal after Easter.
I have walked more this week (after talking about not moving much - so that something too)
3500 steps on Mon
8500 steps yesterday
12000 steps today

Vinto · 31/03/2021 19:48

I’d like to join too! Currently 9st and would love to be 8, though I’d take seeing 8st 7lbs on the scales before June.

I’ve lost a fair bit of weight and now it’s really slowed down (probably a lot to do with a mini eggs and wine habit!) I really feel like I need the gyms to reopen to get back on track.

51andFabulous · 31/03/2021 21:26

Another wanting to join! I gained and lost a stone in lockdown 1, now it's creeping up again and I'd like to get a hold on it. I'm 10st 5lb and need to be 9st 10lb to feel good for the summer.

I totally agree that calories are the key, I don't really eat before mid afternoon mist says and exercise too... but this isn't enough on its own. I also work shifts so this makes eating 'normally' very difficult and it becomes easy to eat crap, especially in the middle of the night!!

Cani recommend Nutracheck as a calorie counting app. You do have to pay for it but IMO it's worth every penny. I'm yet to find a food it doesn't recognise. I'm about to renew my annual membership.

travailtotravel · 31/03/2021 21:53

My goal is to be what you weigh now. I've lost 2 stone (in 9 weeks) and have 3 to go. I've stalled. Low carb and under 1000 cals a day is the only thing that shifts it. But cripes on a bike, it's boring. You could shift 7lb in a month if you low carb.

trilbydoll · 31/03/2021 21:57

I'm stuck at 61kg. I want to be 57kg which is 9st and if I ever get there I'm not optimistic about staying there, unless I eat porridge, vegetable soup and hard boiled eggs for the rest of my life Confused

Easter isn't the best time to start trying to shift that last stone, I'm going for damage limitation until the Easter eggs are finished.

EggyPegg · 01/04/2021 08:03

I've weighed in this morning.

Starting weight: 53.7kg (8 stone 6)
Today: 53.1kg (8 stone 5)

I've also downloaded the My Fitness Pal app and will get my bike puncture sorted tomorrow and get my ass back out running too.

Good luck all.

Cavagirl · 01/04/2021 09:27

Yes please! @Fastforwardtospring we have the same stats and goals! Grin 5.5, 10st 5, goal 9 St 7.
I've lost a stone since last summer but most of that was done in a few months (Dukan) and I've been bobbing around the bottom pounds of 10 stone ever since, not fully commiting to shifting the last half a stone or so. Once I'm at this weight my clothes fit fine and I look ok so the "omg I look fat" shock isn't there as inspiration but I know how amazing I felt at 9.5stone a couple of years ago and I'd love to get back there. I really want to just get it done now before everything opens up again and the push to socialise makes it hard!! So count me in (possibly after Easter Sunday...) Grin

ApplyWithin · 01/04/2021 18:08

Much easier when you have a busy day, isn’t it? I took my DC for a park playdate with friends today and just being out of the house and occupied means I’m not tempted to graze absentmindedly.

I’m being careful for these few days, will definitely indulge on Sunday then try (try!!) to restart on Monday. Depends how much chocolate is floating about!

Fastforwardtospring · 01/04/2021 23:22

@Cavagirl, I know I will feel much better a few Ibs under 10st, my summer clothes need to fit, I’m determined not go into the next dress size, and feeling motivated now we’re coming out of lockdown, I want to come out of it the same size we went into it which was under 10st!

EggyPegg · 01/04/2021 23:44

Right, I have just submitted my assignment! I am now free!! So tomorrow I'm off to Halfords to sort out my puncture and then I'm going to start cycling with the DC again.

DS1 wants to cycle into the nearest big city with me and get the train back (15 miles) so might look into doing that one of the days. Year ago, when I was almost at my target weight, I ran that and got the train back. I WILL do it again one day.

Straysocks · 01/04/2021 23:48

Can I join you? I was 11st 7 at start of lockdown. Using intermittent fasting, 18:6 most days, I got down to 10st 5. At the beginning I used My Fitness Pal too and that really helped. Got blasé with MFP and stuck with 18:6, which with added blasé became 16:8. Entirely predictably I am now 10st 10. I want to lose one stone. I really, really like 18:6, I no longer wish to eat in the mornings or evening, that's no struggle at all and I can eat what I really enjoy during the eating window.

Now, however, I am beginning to think I am out to sabotage myself. I'm eating food I don't really want or need. Perhaps the difference is these days that I'm clocking this whereas for years I was oblivious. Tomorrow is a new day and all of that. So on board I get, with MFP freshly reloaded. Onwards!

OysterMonkey · 02/04/2021 00:24

@Straysocks I’ve never done any fasting. Can you recommend anything I can read up on about it please?
