A stone or less to lose

Anyone looking for the magic stone more or less? I’m furious with myself and in a slight panic here. I had a fantastic weight loss last summer - June, July and August I lost 20lb and felt bloody brilliant. Stalled in September but kept it off until Jan then the last lockdown got to me and I have regained 7lb. Now, I know thats not loads but it puts my lovely big loss last summer back quite a bit and I can feel the inches going back on. It’s such a shame because I felt amazing slimmer and very proud of myself for shifting the pounds I’d been holding on to since my last baby (cough...three years ago!).

For context: I was 11st 9, I got to 10st 3 and am back up to 10st 10. My initial goal, which I never quite managed was 9st 12. I’d love to get there this time.

The burst of glorious weather today made me feel I want to BE slim this summer rather than “slimming” this summer. I want to do it now and not wait for the heatwave to kill my appetite Grin

Anyone else want to shift up to a stone now and not wait until two weeks before their holiday...what holiday??? Grin

@missfliss I'm not sure as I suppose it differs for everyone, but I'd estimate around a stone for me.

Can you fit in the 12 at the moment? I'd say as long as you can do it up, even if the silhouette isn't quite right, then 12lbs should be enough to have it fit more comfortably and flatteringly. If I couldn't get it closed, I'd personally go for the 14.

musicalfrog · 19/04/2021 20:44

I'm almost back in on it after Easter and family birthdays interrupted me! Today had two boiled eggs for breakfast and prawn miso soup for dinner (half a peanut butter sandwich for lunch and two cups of tea - NOT part of the diet but at least it wasn't wall to wall chocolate or cake Grin)

missfliss · 19/04/2021 21:32

Good advice ... was going to be a struggle to get the zip up so have ordered the 14 to try on

redkiteflying · 22/04/2021 08:39

Ah not sure if this thread is still active but I have lost half a kilo this week, am hoping a bigger loss is masked by the time of the month. Very glad it's all going in the right direction though and am definitely eating much healthier

ApplyWithin · 22/04/2021 09:50

Morning everyone, well, I started this thread three weeks ago and have lost...precisely....half a pound! Grin To be fair, I wasn’t really trying for the first week or so - Easter eggs! I’ve been trying this past week but keep getting derailed. At least I haven’t gained, right? Got to focus on the positives Grin

I wonder if I’m retaining water. I’m sure I’m peri menopausal, haven’t had a proper period for 10 weeks (NOT pg) and feel I’m waiting for it to arrive properly but it never fully happens. Usually I’d get a whoosh on the scales once my period had started. I have all the classic pre-menstrual signs... hmm.

Anyway, the better weather is peeking through and I always diet more easily in the sunshine so I’m not giving up!

Good luck everyone. ☘️

I’ve not lost a lot but I’m sticking to a lower weight which is good and I’ve lost an inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips so I’ll take that!

I’m sticking to the fasting 16:8 and keeping active 😊 running walking and some simple weights which seems to be working 😊

musicalfrog · 22/04/2021 21:11

Half a kilo is brilliant @redkiteflying well done! Staying on an even keel is also good going @ApplyWithin and @swampytiggaa. I haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks as I'm afraid to 😂 I will get back on it but I need to go shopping and buy some proper ingredients for the Fast 800 cook books.

sycamore54321 · 23/04/2021 08:01

May I join? I’ve never had to watch my weight, but after pregnancies, then injury, then lockdown I had crept up to 77kg from the 63 to 65-ish kg where I feel most comfortable. It made me feel sluggish and slow, and I just felt down in myself.

I gave myself a stern talking-to at Christmas. I’d never had to diet before so I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I installed My Fitness Pal and have it set at 1200 calories. I was shocked to see how calorific certain foods were! It’s really helped me reset in cutting our snacking etc

I’m down to just under 68kg now with that kind of directionless calorie watching. I’ve also upped my activity and feel much better for it. I’d love to lose those last 3 to 5 kilos. A bit more structure would help me, I think.

I’ve read lots of you talking about fast 800 and intermittent fasting etc. What’s the best place to compare techniques and what works when you don’t have masses to lose?

I think having an accountability threadlike this will help me too.

FizzyPink · 23/04/2021 09:43

Very pleased to report I’m now down 8lbs. I’d plateaued a bit on 1,200 so have upped it to 1,350 and worked really hard to make sure I get in an hours walk a day and it seems to be working.

I’ve got a dinner out tonight and then a birthday party tomorrow so need to make sure to stick to prosecco only and not eat all the carbs on the menu!

FizzyPink · 23/04/2021 09:49

I should also clarify this 8lbs loss has taken me 2 months so not fast at all! But hopefully it’s more sustainable long term this way. I’ve also just discovered the ability to add progress photos to MFP which is a great motivator

Fastforwardtospring · 23/04/2021 10:58

So after a few false starts, I have been good since Monday and showing 1.5lbs off, no eating between meals, mostly 16/8, making better food choices and limited carbs, I’m happy with that, I just need the willpower to get through the weekend.......oh and I upped my walking to twice a day, normally DH takes DDog in the evening but I’ve been going too and I found a Pilatus ring is really good for spot toning and can be done 10 mins a day, it’s made my wobbly bottom feel much less wobblier!

Drybird2020 · 24/04/2021 08:57

@FizzyPink that's a sustainable rate of loss, I'd be pleased with that!

Finally the scales are moving in the right direction for me, 10.5lb to go!

Frequentflier · 26/04/2021 11:17

The scales are moving the right way for me; I think I have lost 2 kg since I started trying but this has been over a month maybe, so quite slow. Unfortunately I am losing it from my bust and bum, and the peri-menopausal pot belly is still hanging around. Hoping it will shrink when I lose more.

I also wanted to ask: those of you who are peri-menopausal and/or in late 40s, do you have a fluctuating shape? My belly keeps shrinking and increasing and that makes it very hard to wear jeans. They never fit right. I am thinking of switching to dresses over the summer until I reach my ideal weight ( long way to go).

ApplyWithin · 26/04/2021 14:31

Oh yes! Jeans are a constant struggle, especially since skinnies were declared unfashionable. I’ve tried so many over recent weeks and can’t quite find the right fit. Perimenopaisal tummy here too. I used to be a classic hourglass shape. Now I’m hourglass with an apple middle - what’s that?

OP posts:
missfliss · 26/04/2021 16:45

@ApplyWithin when you find out the name of that new shape - let me know as I'm it too!!

redkiteflying · 29/04/2021 08:39

Weigh day for me today and lost just over a kilo, so 3kg since I started 3 weeks ago. I think I can see a difference round my tummy now but trousers still too tight/can't get them on. 13lbs to go to goal weight...

redkiteflying · 29/04/2021 08:50

I'm also an hour glass now with an apple middle. I look the same as ever from the back and some dresses hide my tummy from the front but it's really obvious from the side!

swampytiggaa · 29/04/2021 09:45

Just weighed in. Lost half a pound from last week but more importantly another inch off my arse 🥳 happy with that.

The plan for the next week is to continue with the intermittent fasting and to keep out of the biscuit tin 😂😂 I’ll carry on with my very basic weight programme and hope to start losing my tummy!

missfliss · 29/04/2021 09:46

Morning !

Quite happy with progress ( 8 pounds since started WW 4 weeks ago).

Have a boozy camping trip this weekend so will be a gain and this weekend and then back on it next week

FizzyPink · 29/04/2021 10:04

Has anyone else noticed that they actually lose slightly more a few days after a weekend of treats?
I’m always scared to get on the scales after the weekend so leave it until Wednesday but then always seem to see a drop which I wouldn’t have expected. I don’t go wild on the weekends but definitely eat more and have a few glasses of wine. I know some people do calorie cycling so I might look into this.

I’m now 10lbs down after 9 weeks which I’m very pleased with. Another 10lbs will put me at 115lb which is my goal.

ApplyWithin · 29/04/2021 13:48

Amazing missfliss I bet you are really feeling the loss - 8lb makes a nice difference to how your clothes feel doesn’t it? Well done!

merrygoround88 · 29/04/2021 15:17

Hello All
I started this about 3 weeks ago at 72.8kg, way heavier than I’ve ever been and too heavy for my height (5.3) Ideally I want to get to 63/64kg. I’m now at 70kg so have lost approx 2lb per week.

It’s been through a mix of low calories (1000-1200) cals a day and 2 weight classes a week and min 10k steps a day. I won’t lie, it’s really hard but I am determined to comfortably fit into a 12 again so need to do this for another couple of months.

It’s so hard in your 40s !

Lupinspotato · 01/05/2021 09:29

Ooh can I join in? I was 77kg after pregnancy at the beginning of the year. I‘m down to 72kg now but would love to get back to where I was at 64kg (or at least so my old jeans fit again!)

redkiteflying · 06/05/2021 08:38

Ah no loss at all for me this week, but demoralising :(

ApplyWithin · 06/05/2021 08:42

Bad cold plus period means no loss, only bloat and Kitkats here! 😭
