A stone or less to lose

Anyone looking for the magic stone more or less? I’m furious with myself and in a slight panic here. I had a fantastic weight loss last summer - June, July and August I lost 20lb and felt bloody brilliant. Stalled in September but kept it off until Jan then the last lockdown got to me and I have regained 7lb. Now, I know thats not loads but it puts my lovely big loss last summer back quite a bit and I can feel the inches going back on. It’s such a shame because I felt amazing slimmer and very proud of myself for shifting the pounds I’d been holding on to since my last baby (cough...three years ago!).

For context: I was 11st 9, I got to 10st 3 and am back up to 10st 10. My initial goal, which I never quite managed was 9st 12. I’d love to get there this time.

The burst of glorious weather today made me feel I want to BE slim this summer rather than “slimming” this summer. I want to do it now and not wait for the heatwave to kill my appetite Grin

Anyone else want to shift up to a stone now and not wait until two weeks before their holiday...what holiday??? Grin

Well done @swampytiggaa! That's a great feeling to lose inches too

swampytiggaa · 13/05/2021 12:24

I’ve lost over 2 inches from both waist and hips since I started tracking it 5 weeks ago. 6 inches in total including my boobs measurements. I’m really pleased. It’s sustainable too.

I’m running a lot and doing some very basic weight training which I think is helping with the inch loss

DaffyDaffy · 13/05/2021 13:27

Congrats @swampytigga, that’s ace!

Five weeks gives me hope, I’m sure I can manage that long and hopefully see a bit of a difference.

Day 4 today and I’m already flagging. I wanted crisps but I ate a carrot though, so hopefully that’ll hit the spot!

DaffyDaffy · 13/05/2021 13:29

@redkiteflying I too am supposed to be dinky... I find I just can’t hide the weight the way taller people seem to, a few pounds on or off makes a huge difference.

redkiteflying · 13/05/2021 17:50

@DaffyDaffy yes that's exactly it. I really think half a stone on me looks more like 2. People MIL notice immediately and comment on it, whereas some of my friends can put on a stone and I can't tell

DaffyDaffy · 13/05/2021 22:02

On the plus side we don’t need to lose masses of lb to look trimmer!

I ate some crackers this eve with a smidge of low fat cream cheese... still came in under calories though, so hopefully they won’t count? 😕

Am still going and have lost 2.5 kg. BUT progress is so slow and fragile in my late 40s:( Last weekend I succumbed to carbs, and went up almost a kg overnight. Had to really watch myself this whole week to lose it. I can't outwalk my diet at this age.

Two snacks that have really worked for me in curbing my carb cravings: roasted pistachios and cauliflower rice products, esp hash browns. They fill me up. Eliminating sugar is easy for me; it is the carbs that entrap me with their siren songs.

DaffyDaffy · 14/05/2021 09:57

Hash browns, you say?

YouSeeMee · 14/05/2021 11:43

Congrats on the losses. Frequentflier, how long did it take to lose the 2.5kg?

No change for me this week. Two weeks in
Sw: 67.8
Tw: 61.8
Cw: 66.9

Had a weekend of entertaining last weekend. Home cooked, but rich meals and lots of wine so staying the same is a relatively good result. It was worth it after a year of waiting to enjoy their company.

I'm inspired by you all to take measurements now. I would find that motivating and its something I've never done. Would like to get my tummy back to at least the recommended 32in

What measurements do you take? Any tips?

DaffyDaffy · 15/05/2021 10:19

Confession: I broke all my own rules yesterday, gained 1lb on the scales, and am cross with myself.

Onwards and upwards today though, hey?

Congrats to everyone who is clinging on to the wagon!

TR888 · 15/05/2021 10:22

I'm on board!

Cookie79 · 17/05/2021 13:01

Haven’t lost anything really, but I have now come through the most stressful period of my life for a while. I started a new job which needed relocation.

House move finally went through, no more 100 round trips to the office. New school for DD.

House is a fixer upper and was left in a dreadful state so I’m sure over the last week I’ve burned off a lot of calories cleaning.

Joined a gym this morning and it felt good to be back in a gym again. It opens really early and is 1.7 miles away so no excuses for me!

I’m hoping I can get on track now life is less chaotic. 🤞

redkiteflying · 20/05/2021 09:00

0.5 kg off for me this week which I am quite surprised with as haven't had a great week - several very stressful things happening at once at the mo. That's 10lbs to go til target now which still seems a long way at this slow rate of progress tbh.
Also, out for pizza tonight, not my choice of venue and also literally nothing else on the menu (yes, I know that's hard to believe but is true!!). Will try to be extra healthy for the rest of the week!

YouSeeMee · 20/05/2021 10:02

Small loss for me this week.
Start weight: 67.8
Target weight: 61.8

Last week: 66.9
Current weight: 66.6

Three weeks in and feels so slow, but at least its going down. This week it was DH birthday, so again not the perfect week of restraint! I can't complain if I'm losing while eating birthday cake.

Apple1971 · 22/05/2021 15:28

I used my fitness pal. Stuck to it closely in terms of calories and made sure if I ate more I exercised more.
Managed to lose the weight I wanted to in about 5 weeks (about 6 pounds).
Think it’s easy to stick to for a short time and now I’m loosely tracking the maintenance calorie tracker to make sure I stay where I am. Give you a good idea of calories in things too.

swampytiggaa · 23/05/2021 07:57

My weight has stayed about the same… still under 10st (just) which makes me happy. Waist and hip measurements have stayed the same but lost an inch off my boobs so things are definitely changing 😊

missfliss · 23/05/2021 17:01

Does anyone here use an air fryer? I invested in one at the weekend and so far have made chips ( really nice), crispy tofu and cauliflower bites

redkiteflying · 27/05/2021 08:38

Well no change from last week for me. I didn't think there would be as we went out to eat and had a takeaway. Next week will be similar too. I'm feeling quite down about how long this is taking - am seeing some friends in 3 weeks' time and would be nice to have some visible difference by then (when I last saw them before lockdown I was 2kg lighter)

swampytiggaa · 27/05/2021 18:33

@redkiteflying have you taken measurements? I find that really helpful 😊

I lost about 1/2 last week. Lost an inch off my hips and 1/2 inch off my boobs.

Started taking this seriously 15/4/2021 and so far have lost just over 4lb and 6 inches in total measuring only waist hips and boobs.
