A stone or less to lose

Anyone looking for the magic stone more or less? I’m furious with myself and in a slight panic here. I had a fantastic weight loss last summer - June, July and August I lost 20lb and felt bloody brilliant. Stalled in September but kept it off until Jan then the last lockdown got to me and I have regained 7lb. Now, I know thats not loads but it puts my lovely big loss last summer back quite a bit and I can feel the inches going back on. It’s such a shame because I felt amazing slimmer and very proud of myself for shifting the pounds I’d been holding on to since my last baby (cough...three years ago!).

For context: I was 11st 9, I got to 10st 3 and am back up to 10st 10. My initial goal, which I never quite managed was 9st 12. I’d love to get there this time.

The burst of glorious weather today made me feel I want to BE slim this summer rather than “slimming” this summer. I want to do it now and not wait for the heatwave to kill my appetite Grin

Anyone else want to shift up to a stone now and not wait until two weeks before their holiday...what holiday??? Grin

Wow some great losses!

After thinking I was super disciplined and able to say no to alcohol and treats at the weekend, it turns out that only applies when we’re stuck and home and can’t see friends Blush

Totally fell off the bandwagon this weekend having friends over and gutted that my weight seems to be going up since then. Determined to stick to my 1200 calories from now on and get out on my lunchtime walk every day.

Frequentflier · 14/04/2021 13:22

I have lost about a kilo. Sorry I am not British and just cant think in terms of stone:) My weight loss tends to be v slow since I am 49, but am hoping it will last. Been doing 16: 8 most days ( requires immense 6planning) and reducing carbs to about 60 grams a day. Also do 10 k steps most days.

redkiteflying · 15/04/2021 08:21

First weigh in and I've lost 1.5kg, so pleased with that. Going in the right direction now!

annabell22 · 15/04/2021 12:46

Well done @redkiteflying and @Frequentflier - if your successes are related to your usernames, I'm changing mine! Grin

YetAnotherWalk · 15/04/2021 21:16

Well done all. Been a week, but haven't had a chance to jump on the scales. Also 5 days since giving up my Coke (liquid) habit Blush

7 1/2 hour window and 50 minutes swimming!

annabell22 · 16/04/2021 04:55

Morning all, weigh in day for me and I'm down 700g since last Friday. Very pleased with that as I didn't lose a gram last week.

chutneypig · 16/04/2021 06:41

Could I join you all? I’ve been reading the thread and it’s been very interesting, different challenges when there’s not so much to lose.

I was at 58kg pre lockdown 1, managed to get back to 60 before Christmas and lost it completely since. I’m at 65 now. I’m 5’6. I’ve gone back to Team RH this week which I had a lot of success with a couple of years ago. My biggest challenge is the weekend. I work away in the week so am pretty disciplined but it’s tough when I get home again. My daughter’s been baking this week. But the scales have been moving in the right direction all week so hopefully that will be enough to keep me focussed.

Abcgo · 16/04/2021 06:53

So, 1st week has passed unsuccessfully! I’ve not lost any weight at all and MFP has me with a daily average of 1218 calories. Unfortunately I know that for normal people this is probably the suggested amount to eat each day to lose weight, but for me I’ll be lucky not to put on weight!

I think this is why I find the weight loss so hard and seem to have been in that ‘lose that last 7-14lbs zone’ for so long because to do it I have to be very hungry for a very long time (ie the rest of my life!)

Oh well I’ll look on the positive and at least I didn’t put on any weight (& I do know that I probably had way too many snacks this week!)

FizzyPink · 16/04/2021 08:47

I’ve done really well this week, stuck to my calories and got lots of walks in and I’ve lost the 2.5lbs I gained last weekend. Really need to stay strong this weekend so I can go back to making progress.

We’re having a bbq tomorrow so I’m going to have to be strict with myself and not get carried away after a few glasses of wine. Being good over the weekends was so much easier when we couldn’t socialise and there was nothing to do except walk!

Whatwouldnanado · 16/04/2021 23:17

First week in and I've lost four pounds. It's a good start, being cautious and realistic but hoping I can keep going. I really don't want to have to buy new summer clothes. Definitely feel better for exercising a bit more too. Don't know if it's been doing anything but after being bombarded with ads for Provitalize etc I've started having a mug of hot water with a teaspoon of tumeric, cinnamon and local honey. It tastes fine. Half carbs is ok too. Keep going everyone!

PinkPiranha11 · 17/04/2021 00:00

Late to this but can I join? I’m hoping to lose half a stone to take me back to my “happy” weight of 8 stone 2 ish. I’m 5ft 3 for context, aged almost 40 & quite petite.
I look slim in clothes but I’m not toned and flabby around the waist and bum. I find it so hard to resist chocolate & cakes - Easter has been a killer for me. I don’t really drink so that’s an easy win however! I’m going to be reducing the carbs, upping the exercise and will be on a full chocolate/sweets ban.

Fastforwardtospring · 17/04/2021 06:52

Well done to all that have been good and lost, really struggling to get any motivation, start the week with good intentions and then it goes out the window, DC go back to school on Monday so that may make it easier, if I don’t do something I’m going to be buying next dress size. Will keep popping back for all your success stories to spur me on.

ApplyWithin · 17/04/2021 11:10

I’m feeling very positive now that my order of Mr Freeze ice pops has arrived. Seriously, these are the things that helped me lose 20lb last summer. I swear when they went out of stock over the winter I gained weight! Not the healthiest snack but they totally take the edge off when my mouth is feeling bored!

And another tip: as a lifelong chocoholic, I have now banned milk chocolate in the house. If it’s there I WILL sniff it out and eat it. I have bought some of that famed “good quality dark chocolate” that supermodels claim to enjoy two squares of each night. Let’s see if it works... I don’t actually like dark chocolate so I find it sort of satisfies the urge a bit but not enough to make me want to finish the bar... With the real thing I cannot be trusted.

I’m enjoying this thread, I’d like to join if that’s ok.

I’ve lost 4 stone over two years but this last locked on I’ve put back on 10lbs. I’m 5’6” and happy at around 10st -10st lbs. I’m 52 and finding the menopause hard going. Biscuits and toast are my go-to baddies.

I do an exercise class 3 times a week and walk my dog daily.

MaidEdithofAragon · 17/04/2021 11:31

Lockdown not locked on.

samthebordercollie · 17/04/2021 19:41

@ApplyWithin another chocoholic here and I'm going to go cold turkey and ban milk chocolate next week. My only problem is I love dark chocolate too and can easily eat more than 2 squares!
At the moment I run 10 miles most days so that takes care of my chocolate addiction but I'm not losing any weight. I just want to get down to 9 stone so want to lose half stone (I'm 5'8) not overweight, but I just like to be light for my knees and running (at age 55 they aren't young)

Nic36M · 17/04/2021 20:21

I was a size 8 and my weight varied between 9 st 12 and 10 St which I was happy with. After giving birth I went down to 11 St 4 and between lockdowns have gone up to 11st 12 and keep yoyoing up and down. Its so hard when you have less weight to loose and unfortunately the only thing to shift it will be exercise.

I'm looking to join an outdoor boot camp now the weather is getting nicer.

Nic36M · 17/04/2021 20:25

I agree with Eggy Peggy if you deny yourself you will end up binging on what your not having. I m not a huge diet or calorie counting fan. I do believe it's just being sensible with food choices and exercise. Although this is easier said than done.

YetAnotherWalk · 18/04/2021 07:47

Hi all, yesterday went a bit pear shaped (day out) but lots of walking at least and a quick yoga video. I'm 0.4kg down from starting, so slow and steady...

missfliss · 18/04/2021 08:45

I've lost 6 pounds since starting weight watchers again 3 weeks ago - the programme is a lot better since last time I did it 12 years ago.

Have bought a size 12 dress for a social event that I'm hoping will for comfortably once I reach goal

A stone or less to lose
Drybird2020 · 18/04/2021 09:19

I need to join this this thread too, if I may! I'm on another long running weight loss thread which is brilliant but I've been stuck on the last stone for ages and hope I might get some further motivation further kick up the arse from this one!

I lost 2st last year, but like a pp said, winter stalled things for me. I'm hoping now spring is here I will emerge, butterfly-like , from the chrysalis of the remaining 13lb.

Vinto · 18/04/2021 18:12

Hi everyone, I hope the weekend has been kind to you all. I've been over indulging yet again! 11lbs to go, I'm 4lbs away from my mini target of 8st 7lbs which I'd like to achieve asap, considering cutting carbs and chocolate to hopefully have a sharp shock. I've started booking social events for the next few weeks which should give me some motivation, but I know I've thought that before now.

Having lost a lot of weight and gone from officially obese, to know just feeling flabby but technically a healthy weight, it's hard not to fall into the trap of thinking I'm not that bad, when what I do know I still that my body isn't making me unhappy, so it's worth changing.

Gottashiftit · 18/04/2021 23:06

Hey all, what a great thread. I've got a stone to shift, it's mainly sitting on my belly refusing to move.

The last bit is always the hardest.

I'm tall so can sort of get away with carrying an extra stone when it's all tucked into my winter jeans, not so much in the summertime.

missfliss · 19/04/2021 16:45

Does anyone know roughly how much weight, or a proportion of overall weight it would take to drop a dress size?

I'm 11 stone 12 now, at 5'6". I'm a column shape so weight is even and more round my whole torso rather than bum / hips.

I'm currently a size 13!

Have a dress that is a size 12 that I was hoping would fit when I get to 11 stone ( 12 pounds to drop) but wondering if I'm better off ordering a 14 and getting it taken in .
