A stone or less to lose

Anyone looking for the magic stone more or less? I’m furious with myself and in a slight panic here. I had a fantastic weight loss last summer - June, July and August I lost 20lb and felt bloody brilliant. Stalled in September but kept it off until Jan then the last lockdown got to me and I have regained 7lb. Now, I know thats not loads but it puts my lovely big loss last summer back quite a bit and I can feel the inches going back on. It’s such a shame because I felt amazing slimmer and very proud of myself for shifting the pounds I’d been holding on to since my last baby (cough...three years ago!).

For context: I was 11st 9, I got to 10st 3 and am back up to 10st 10. My initial goal, which I never quite managed was 9st 12. I’d love to get there this time.

The burst of glorious weather today made me feel I want to BE slim this summer rather than “slimming” this summer. I want to do it now and not wait for the heatwave to kill my appetite Grin

Anyone else want to shift up to a stone now and not wait until two weeks before their holiday...what holiday??? Grin

So I got on the scales today- 62.8kg or 9 stone 11. I also got out my pregnancy notes (3 kids in 4 years) and was 58kg at the start of each pregnancy and my current weight at 30 weeks pregnant with each one! Lockdown has a lot to answer for!

I’ve started on 18:6 again and find an eating window of 10am to 6 pm quite easy to do by eating dinner with the kids. I’m going to try and focus on veg heavy meals and cutting out white bread and doing pilates workouts. I did 30min last night and I am aching!

Has anybody got Dr Rupy’s 3-2-1 cookbook? I’m thinking of getting it. Thanks for the recommendation for his podcast on weight annabel, I’ll check it out!

Fastforwardtospring · 07/04/2021 14:35

Ok am focussed to start this, weight and clothes too tight are telling signs! Had a good start today, had slice of Sour Dough(can’t help it, it’s homemade) but won’t be eating carbs for evening meal.......I need to make it through today being good then I really will be back on track.......

Seriouslymole · 07/04/2021 14:46

@Frequentflier

Marking. I am 5"7, 11 stone and need to lose at least half a stone. A stone would be better but I am 49 and peri-menopausal, so it's hard. Trying to do 16:8 and low carbing.
We are at exactly the same point. About 5 years ago I got down to 9stone 9 with 5.2 and then settled happily at around 10.3 for ages. This last year has been a nightmare and I really need to get back on it. WFH does not help at ALL!
MitMopse · 07/04/2021 14:47

Can I join?!

OP I am almost exactly the same story as you and feel so down that some of the weight crept back on. I know why though- I overeat a little here and there and at my age and stage of life (40's and two kids) I simply can't do that without gaining.

MFP worked for me last time so trying again!

ApplyWithin · 07/04/2021 19:51

I’m back on MFP today and already feeling better for just being in control. I love Easter eggs so much!!

Welcome to all the new names on the thread, can’t wait to see some decent losses over the coming weeks!

Can I join in please? I am trying to shift 10 pounds that I've gained recently and I feel really fed up about. I don't know my exact weight as I am avoiding the scales for a few days until I've undone a bit of the damage but I do know my jeans don't fit me anymore.

FizzyPink · 07/04/2021 22:33

Oohh I’d love to join you. I joined a Facebook group for calorie counting but it’s not very encouraging when you’ve not got loads to lose and everyone else seems to be losing 5+ lbs a week on 2,000 calories a day.

I’ve done low carb for years and had huge success with it. However, last year I started developing the most horrific keto rash so that’s put a stop to that.

I’ve been calorie counting on 1,200 a day for the last 2 months. Started at 135lb, lost 7 and then put back on 2 over Easter. My goal is 120lb and I’m 5’5

I think the hardest thing for me is feeling hungry which I’m just not used to doing low carb and also forcing myself out for a lunchtime walk. I’ve recently gotten into audiobooks which seem to be helping as I quite look forward to listening to the next bit but it’s so tempting to spend the hour lying on the sofa instead!

FizzyPink · 07/04/2021 22:36

Oh forgot to say, the things I’m also finding useful are the Pinch of Nom books for interesting recipes and a set of Renpho scales. It’s nice seeing the weight loss on an app and it tells you all sorts of other things like body fat and muscle mass. No idea how accurate they are but interesting all the same

Whatwouldnanado · 07/04/2021 22:46

I would love to join. I'm 5' 1" and 8.5 stone, heaviest I have ever been and want to get rid of at least half a stone. It's on my belly. My clothes are tight and I feel rubbish. Lockdown definitely not helping, I am walking less in the course in the day. Trying not to eat after my evening meal but just in the course of tidying up the kitchen I have had a bit of chocolate and the last couple of spoons in a tub of yoghurt. Can I ask for breakfast ideas? Porridge makes me feel bloated.

musicalfrog · 07/04/2021 23:03

@Whatwouldnanado I love two boiled eggs and half an avocado for breakfast, squeeze some lemon on the avocado and add salt and pepper to all. One of my favourite breakfasts from the Fast 800 and so simple. Keeps you full till lunchtime.

musicalfrog · 07/04/2021 23:04

I've only just started on my easter egg so I'm a bit behind 😕😄

YetAnotherWalk · 08/04/2021 06:51

Hi all, can I join? Have health issues but with the right medication and 16:8, I lost 2st in 2019, kept most of it off through 2020 miracle but health and lock down 3 and I need to get rid of one stone!

I'm eating carbs and sugar to keep me going and I feel worse and worse, so yesterday I at least managed a 9 hour window and did a yoga video.

nodtik · 08/04/2021 07:21

Please let me join!

15lbs to lose to take me from

11st 1lb to 10st ......

Started low carb on Monday morning and have just weighed this morning.

Current weight 10st 11.8lb so and encouraging start.

1200 calories a day and 15000 steps each day so far.

Got to keep it up!

Good luck everyone xx

NeedATan · 08/04/2021 07:26

@ApplyWithin

I do a lot of short home workouts and I don’t eat before midday.

When I lose 20lb over the summer I swore these two facts were significantly factors. I’ve kept doing them during my break from MFP smugly thinking that’s all I’d need to maintain.

Wrong. It’s ALL about calorie control. I have gained despite eating nothing before midday and working out a lot. Makes you realise, weight loss is all about calories and exercise is negligible.

Apparently it's 80/20 CICO/exercise when you're trying to lose weight.
musicalfrog · 08/04/2021 08:22

I've lost all my weight with no extra exercise.

I did the couch to 5k a while back and lost no weight, although I did get noticeably fitter!

year5teacher · 08/04/2021 09:23

My weight has gone down by 2lbs which I don’t think is necessarily a real loss but as I’m eating a lot less salt it’s probably due to not having as much water retention?
Did a Chloe Ting “beginner” workout which killed my legs so going to do a complete beginner’s one from the body project today - my fitness levels are definitely higher than that but I don’t want to be unable to walk 😂

Squashbanana125 · 08/04/2021 09:30

Count me in please.

Currently 10’3. Christmas time I was 9’10 and so much happier. My clothes are feeling too tight and I’m uncomfortable for my height.

This lockdown for me was the hardest. Lack of movement, colder weather. I just wanted comfort food. The result has been 7-8lb increase. I would love to get this off. Happy with anywhere between 9’8-9’10.

This week I have maintained but we’ve had Easter and I have had a lot of chocolate, but did go for 2 x 5k walks. So I’m taking my maintain as a positive rather than a negative.

Not trying to put too much pressure on myself. This week my aim is to move more. And increase my water. If I can stick to 16:8 I will. My gym opens Monday and I am hoping this will be good for me. As routine is all over the place. What with working at home & Easter holidays means the kids are home a lot.

Vinto · 08/04/2021 09:48

My first weigh in update, down from 9st to 8st 12, feeling pleased to see the numbers going down.

I have a big event in 11 weeks that I'd love to hit my 8stone target for, so it's just a smidge over a pound a week, which should be achievable, but I'm falling into the self sabotage trap like a few others on the thread have reported.

Does anyone else struggle after falling off the bandwagon with Easter weekend? I was following 18/6 fasting and lower carb but let myself enjoy the festivities, but now I'm thinking I fancy a mini chocolate egg with my cup of tea or some crisps and wine, back on the carb crash rollercoaster! I know I need to push through it for a few days feeling antsy, it's just getting the motivation.

Does anyone else have a big event/target in mind? Or just generally for your health?

Whatwouldnanado · 08/04/2021 10:05

Just health for me, and fitting in to clothes. I hate the feeling of this spare tyre around my middle. It's interesting that reducing salt can be significant in all this. I am going to go down the route of reducing carbs, so half my usual portions. I avoid bread/wheat anyway because too much makes me muzzy headed. Finally ditched the last of my Easter chocolate last night!

Cavagirl · 08/04/2021 10:12

Well I've lost one of my easter weekend lbs...
vinto Yes hugely, once I've had a weekend eating really nice bread it's so hard to give it up again. Once you push past that though I find I lose the craving.
For me it's a mix of health/vanity. I was a stone heavier than I am now 18 months ago, and realising I had tipped into the overweight bmi category was the kick up the butt I needed. I got down to the mid-9 stones, I felt and looked great, but then lockdown etc I've put back on 10lbs which I'm aiming to shift mainly to avoid the slippery slope back into overweight.
I also think the older you get, the harder it is to lose, and I'd much rather be doing this now in my 30s than 10 years later, I think maintaining as you get older is probably hard enough. Hats off to anyone losing and going through perimenopause!

NeedATan · 08/04/2021 10:30

I just discovered the following as breakfast and as a treat during the day and am loving it: 100g of plain yogurt, 10g of chia seeds and 10g of crushed walnuts. Mix the lot. I have a cup of tea before and after because it helps the seeds swell up in your stomach, making you feel fuller. One serving comes in at under 140 calories!

FizzyPink · 08/04/2021 10:47

Oh yes I definitely relate to finding it harder after Easter. I was doing so well until last week but going back to eating less is so hard and I’m starving which I definitely wasn’t before.

I’ve not really got a big event in mind but I’m currently at an annoying point between an 8 and a 10. I’d like to be firmly back in an 8 and not have to keep ordering clothes in both sizes. Ideally we’ll get to go on our planned holidays this summer and I’ll look fabulous in a bikini Grin My DP is tall and the size of a stick (I actually have a thread at the moment asking how he can put on weight) so next to him, especially in swimwear I always feel even more short and dumpy

annabell22 · 08/04/2021 11:39

Hi all, just checking in. Scales were 300g down this morning but that was after I'd been to the gym. I did my 3rd 12 3 30 treadmill work out and it was really hard going - oddly, I found it much easier (but still blooming hard) yesterday.

@FizzyPink I hear you - but my 10 trousers are tight right now too! I think I'm about half a stone away from comfort there.

SproutLady · 08/04/2021 11:53

May I join too? Currently 10 stone 7, down from 10 stone 11 in January—I’m 5’6 but small framed and look much better/ fit nicely in my size 12 clothes when I’m 9 stone 7. Im having some success with gentle WW/ 16:8 but I’m also perimenopausal so it is a slog! Thanks for the tips, ladies—yogurt, walnuts and chia seeds sounds lovely.

Frequentflier · 08/04/2021 11:57

It's quite odd how we all carry our weight. I am a size 12, but some of you are a stone lighter and also a size 12? It may be because I am v small busted, carrying all my weight in my belly.

Not weighing myself this week as I had my periods ( they are horrible these days),overdid carbs yesterday and did not walk as much as I usually do. Hoping to finish the rest of the week better.
