Morning all! Link to previous month is here:

The December thread - Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4097783-The-December-thread-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

All are welcome to join, there's a really good mix of diets and methods and everyone is really helpful and great at motivating each other. December was quiet but that's to be expected! I've gained a couple of pounds over the Christmas period so am starting at 16.4. Would love to be 15.10 by the end of January!

It will be a funny old month for me as I'm hopeful for my op date at some point in January so not really sure how I will go with weight loss but every pound I lose surely will make the operation easier so I'm gonna work really hard at it until I get the date through!

Have a lovely weekend!

Happy new year @cricketmum84 and thanks for the new thread. Hope you hear about op soon.
I basically have stayed the same for the last few months in 2020 as my dad passed away in November so it’s been a tough few months for us. I am hoping 2021 will be much better. It is a big year for us as a family as I will be 50 in May and kids have GCSEs and a levels this year. I would like to get down to a healthy bmi for my birthday but this is a huge ask so would like to be in the 11’s for the start of May and at bmi by the end of 2021. I am hoping for a lovely summer holiday if Covid lets up!

C/W 14st 2.5lbs

Back to low carb calorie counting and lots of walking for me!

SillyLittleBiscuit · 02/01/2021 11:22

Sorry for your loss @TheStirrer

I’m currently 13st. 1.5st put on since lockdown 1. I’ve stopped moving! I’m planning on calorie counting and getting off the sofa and out the door regularly.

Tanaqui · 02/01/2021 11:23

@TheStirrer, I am also motivated by heading for 50 in May! I have lost on this thread before (about 15 months ago), but covid/ life means I have put it back on. I am 10st.6 today, aiming for 10st. to start with.

@cricketmum84, I am sorry you are having an op- I hope it is nothing too serious? Flowers

Ohdoleavemealone · 02/01/2021 11:27

Hi All. I am joining at 10st 4. Very short and it sticks to my middle like a tyre!

My ideal weight is 9-9.5 stone. I just want to eat healthily rather than diet and create healthy habits that the kids will pick up on.

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2021 11:32

So sorry for your loss @TheStirrer

@Tanaqui I've got a urethral diverticulum. Consultant said it's rare (trust me to have something rare lol) and she only sees 4 or 5 a year. They are going to chop it out but I'll be left with stitches on the inside of my urethra and a catheter for approx 4 weeks. Not sure I will be in the mood for chopping salad and cooking healthy meals! And definitely won't be exercising until I'm healed x

Hello, jumping in the bandwagon as these thread really worked for me last time I wanted to lose weight. Sadly it’s all gone wrong and I’m restarting at 83.6kg Blush

Am starting just with walking and calorie counting for now - been out every day for the last week but the real test will be when it starts raining again to see if I’m as motivated then!!

Calorie counted yesterday and came in below 1200kcals, even with the hangover leading me to a bacon sandwich in the morning.

Am slightly worried as DP has decided we should “eat together” tonight (usually we eat separately due to schedules) and wants fancy sausage and mash. Think I’ve planned a way round to keep calories low but it’s bloody typical that on Day 2 a spanner has already been thrown into the works!!

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2021 11:45

@Dyrne have you done your mash with half potato and half cauliflower before? I absolutely love it and it brings down carb and calorie content

OP posts:
WhenDoISleep · 02/01/2021 11:52

I’m going to join, if that’s OK. I used to be on these threads a long time ago and found it useful.

I’m starting at 15st 3, which at 5ft 4 is not great - I want to lose weight for my health and happiness as I feel awful atm.

Dyrne · 02/01/2021 11:58

@cricketmum84 that’s a great tip, I’m definitely going to try that! Unfortunately I don’t have any cauliflower in at the moment and I’m trying to avoid shops but will try that next time.

For tonight, I’m just going to have less mash and do myself more veg.

FatGirlShrinking · 02/01/2021 12:26

Hello all, checking in for January. I am very happy to report that I have gone from size 22 jeans in August to size 16 now, have treated myself to a couple of pairs in the next and Tesco sales. Have a weird disassociation thing happening though where I look at the waistband of the jeans in my hand and think, not a chance in hell will these ever squeeze up past my thighs, no way. Then feel very surprised when they not only pull all the way up but do up too. It's really odd.

Starting January at 186lb, up from 184 before Xmas.

Plan it to get to healthy BMI which is 164lb by Easter.

recklessgran · 02/01/2021 15:07

Well, hello all. Here I am again. Been a funny few months and I won't bore you all with the details but I've put on a stone since I was here last.
Hope you'll let me rejoin @cricketmum84 - really sorry about your op - it sounds nasty so hope it's done soon and you will feel better afterwards.
I don't know my exact weight but I intend to start Keto again on Monday so having a last weekend of indulging in bread [my nemesis]. I like a Monday weigh day so I'm going to stick to that and will post my stats on Monday first thing. I need to get back in the 11's pdq or my lovely new wardrobe won't fit me for much longer. I reckon I'm about 12st 12lbs currently and I'm very ashamed of it.
I'm very lazy so won't be doing much exercise although we've gained a gorgeous Sprocker puppy since I was here last so no excuse for at least not walking him occasionally. For now DH does most of the walking as I am largely tied to my desk and he's retired so has more time [and inclination!]. Waving to all my old [and new] friends. We can do this and help each other to stay on the wagon!

Keha · 02/01/2021 15:10

Can I join, 14 stone, some of it post baby but been putting it on for a while. I'm still breastfeeding and don't plan on doing a strict calorie controlled diet or fasting. I do plan on swapping unhealthy snacks for healthy ones, trying not to snack in the evening, moving more, taking slightly smaller portions/no seconds.

Smarshian · 02/01/2021 16:33

Can I join please? I’ve put on 10 pounds since September and was already 10-15 over my ideal.
S/w 11st2lb, would love to be 10st 9lb by end of Jan.
Hoping to go to Barcelona with the girls in April and would love to be 9st7lb by then.

Tanaqui · 02/01/2021 16:35

How lovely to have a sprocker Restlessgran, bet he is a bundle of energy! What colour?
@cricketmum84, that sounds horrid, but I am sure it will be worth it in the long run. And I am sure the op and recovery will be so much easier now you have lost so much!

Ecci · 02/01/2021 16:36

Hello All, fell off the thread back in November and I need to get back on the path. So sorry to hear about your op @cricketmum84 hope you don't have to wait too long. I think the waiting, and dreading it, is often the worst bit.
Hi recklessgran kinda sorry to see you back, iykwim. I strongly recommend doing a daily dog walk, it will make you feel so much better, mentally and physically. My daily dog walk is the highlight of my day and it's something I won't miss even when I'm totally swamped with work.
Starting January at 11st 8.4lbs, having come down from 15st 12.4lbs over the last 16 months.
I'm aiming to lose 5lbs this month, so should be 11 st 3.4 lbs on February 1st, fingers crossed. Good luck to all.

quarentini · 02/01/2021 16:39

Is there room for me lease?
I'm planning on low carb ish - calorie counting starting Monday .
I've not plucked up the courage to weigh myself yet but I must be at least 15.1/2 stone.
And I seem to be carrying it all around my waist.

Howmanysleepsnow · 02/01/2021 16:40

Hi everyone, Happy New Year!
I’m 8lb up over December. Goal for January: lose 8lb.
SW 10stone
GW 9st 6lb (again!) Need to encourage the DC to polish off the leftover Christmas chocolate/ snacks before I do.

Nymerialuna · 02/01/2021 16:54

Please may I join? I am weighing in at 17.2 1/2 and will be doing SW (but not going to group so need the accountability!)
Overall goal is 12st with a mini goal of 16.7 by end of Jan
I have hidden some of the chocolate (for syn'd treats) and DH is working his way through the rest
Good luck to everyone on your weight loss journey.

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2021 17:04

Welcome to the new joiners :) you are all most welcome!

Yes stressful thinking about op, I've gone private through work so shouldn't be waiting too long to be honest. And the amount of pain I'm in currently I'd rather just get it over and done with!

I still have Christmas chocolates leftover but I'm really restrained with chocolate (although not with cheese) so will just have a couple every evening as a bit of a treat.

OP posts:
recklessgran · 02/01/2021 17:05

@Tanaqui he's chocolate brown with a white chest flash and a tiny bit of white around his nose which makes him look old. He's cuddly and adorable and may be more cocker than springer as he's very babyish and thankfully not TOO energetic so far. DD4 has his brother who is absolutely a sprocker through and through - very handsome, very intelligent and very lively indeed - not sure I'd be able to cope with him but he's perfect for DD who intends to get into agility/flyball and that kind of thing with him. [ Will post pics later.] @Ecci I'm not a lover of exercise/the cold at all but at least I now have a purpose for going out for a walk. I'm honestly a fair weather walker - HATE the cold and damp!
Feels good to be back here!

recklessgran · 02/01/2021 17:15

Puppy pic.

A new month and a new year - the January lose 7lbs per month thread!
recklessgran · 02/01/2021 17:18

Gawd - wrong daughter! It's DD5 who's got his brother. Bloody hell I'm losing the plot!

cricketmum84 · 02/01/2021 17:23

Awww @recklessgran what an absolute cutie!!! 🥰🥰🥰

OP posts:
Ardagusdubh · 02/01/2021 17:34

Thanks @cricketmum84 for the new thread.
Jan SW 12st 0
Goal for end of Jan is 11st 11.
Eating has been fairly terrible so amazed I haven't put on (healthy eating and exercise has made such a difference to my metabolism) and no real exercise as I haven't been feeling great, weak and breathless so slow walls only. Would love to get 3 lbs off this month and hopefully get back to running as well. Good luck everyone Smile

recklessgran · 02/01/2021 17:37

I know - he's very cuddly wuddly! I'm trying so hard not to let him on the sofas but so far he wins....... he just has to look at me with those puppy dog eyes and up he comes.
