Morning all! Link to previous month is here:

The December thread - Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4097783-The-December-thread-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

All are welcome to join, there's a really good mix of diets and methods and everyone is really helpful and great at motivating each other. December was quiet but that's to be expected! I've gained a couple of pounds over the Christmas period so am starting at 16.4. Would love to be 15.10 by the end of January!

It will be a funny old month for me as I'm hopeful for my op date at some point in January so not really sure how I will go with weight loss but every pound I lose surely will make the operation easier so I'm gonna work really hard at it until I get the date through!

Have a lovely weekend!

Morning @Howmanysleepsnow The thread has been quiet the last few days, hasn't it!

I hope everyone is doing ok Flowers

All good here, not sure I will lose much this week though, I've been put on the pill by the docs Sad and TOTM has arrived early, so annoying.

Happy Friday everyone.

TheStirrer · 22/01/2021 08:12

Yes I am still loitering .... just been a busy week! I am hoping @cricketmum84 is ok x

Howmanysleepsnow · 22/01/2021 08:44

Oh, hello! Good to “see” you both.
Flowers @cricketmum84 hope your appointment went well and they’re getting to the bottom of what’s been going on for you. I completely understand if you don’t update after how you were treated on the other thread.

Ecci · 22/01/2021 09:23

Hi all, still here. Weekly wigh in today at 11 St 6.4 lbs. That's 2lbs down for January so far, and a loss of 4st 6lbs in total. I'm struggling a bit because it's such a depressing time of year and it's been so cold and wet, so I find I'm wanting to eat more comfort foods instead of my usual salads and fruit. Hoping I'll start losing a bit faster once the spring gets here, but it feels a long way off atm.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/01/2021 09:32

Yep @Ecci the weather is definitely affecting my mood!

I can't wait to just be able to throw on shorts and T-shirt's and head out for a walk with DD, play on the park and have a bit of a picnic. Everything feels like a mission, have you got enough layers on, what about waterproofs, I'll bring some spare trousers in case of mud/splashing oh and socks too, how about a thermos of hot chocolate, oh need a towel for the car seats.......

And by the time we get home, blue of lips and toes all I want is something hot, stodgy and unhealthy to warm us from the inside out 😂

It would be much more bearable if there were some indoors activities open like swimming which is what we'd normally be doing in the winter.

Ah well, can't change it so need to stop whingeing.

Keeping to my calorie count although the content needs to be improved, lots of quick snacks and processed food rather than wholesome and healthy at the moment.

Looking forward to seeing the scales teeter into the 170's. Hard to believe a few months ago I was celebrating moving out of the 200's.

cricketmum84 · 22/01/2021 10:19

Morning all, I'm still here, still feeling like my feet and ankles belong to someone else...

Weight hasn't dropped again though which is actually a positive.

Yep @Howmanysleepsnow got my arse handed to me on a plate on that one didn't I! Not gonna lie it's knocked my confidence a fair bit.

OP posts:
GetTheStartyParted · 22/01/2021 11:01

Winter really is a drag. And swimming pools being closed. I miss the routine of swimming three times a week and haven't replaced it with any other exercise. Thankfully DS managed to get back his full range of movement in his arm, thanks to swimming, before they closed again!

@cricketmum84 I didn't see the thread but I can imagine. It can be quite nasty on here at times can't it. I am careful what I engage with because it would effect me too. I hope you're ok.

Ecci · 22/01/2021 18:03

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo I love your use of language in your description of going out. I walk our dogs every morning and have been blue of lips and toes much more than I would like this month. There also seems to be much more mud about and they are Samoyeds (white and very hairy) so it takes ages to clean them up, post walk.

TheStirrer · 23/01/2021 10:53

Whoop whoop. I have finally broken into the 13s today - so pleased. It must have been the advice to do something different as somehow I lost 3.5lbs this week and am now down to 13st 10.5 Smile.
Total loss this month is 6lbs and total weight loss is 8st 1lb ..... still got another 3 stone to go though Blush.
Thanks for the encouragement everyone - it really does help and well done to all of us hanging on in struggling over lockdown and despairing over the crap weather.
@cricketmum84 - Flowers. Nice to see you back - hope you are beginning to feel better and get the advice you need from the GP.

GetTheStartyParted · 23/01/2021 11:42

Amazing @TheStirrer ! Well done Star

TheStirrer · 23/01/2021 11:51

Thanks for my Star - I will wear it will pride today @GetTheStartyParted...... along with my new smaller pants and jeans Grin

Howmanysleepsnow · 25/01/2021 07:43

Morning everyone. I’m 10st 2lb today so 3.5lb gained. I’m struggling mentally and just don’t have the willpower atm. I know I really need to get back into this but it’s hard. Lockdown enforced lack of activity really doesn’t help (mentally or weight loss wise).
Hopefully homeschooling will mean I have less time to eat now it’s Monday.

GetTheStartyParted · 25/01/2021 07:58

Morning.
@Howmanysleepsnow It's a difficult time, you're keeping an eye in your weight and doing what you can, when you can. Don't give yourself a hard time. I needed a break and feel so much better for it, despite gaining over a stone!

I've lost 3lbs this week. 7lbs of the 15lb gain gone Blush Much better than I expected.

We had such fun in the snow yesterday (apart from DH who didn't want to get cold Grin ) It was a lovely way to spend the last day of DS1 being home. He's back at barracks today, preparing to go overseas for 4 months.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

GetTheStartyParted · 25/01/2021 07:59

Just realised it sounds like I'll be at target when I reach that - but I have another 2 stone to go after that! That's just my first aim.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/01/2021 10:19

Hello everyone. I've lost another 3lbs so thats 5lbs in total this month. If I'm careful all week I should hit the 7lb target. I fell off the wagon yesterday as I was volunteering all day at the local vaccine clinic so skipped lunch. I came home starving and freezing (I was managing the car parking) and stuffed my face.

Back to the diet today.

Deepintheforest · 26/01/2021 05:18

Morning All, I've hit a bit of a wall, damaged my shin and calf and no exercise at all including unnecessary walking for 2 weeks minimum and then the physio will reevaluate but possible up to 12 weeks to get back to high impact exercise and my full form of 2x a week run and 2 x a week hiit class. Very frustrating as I find exercise helps keep me on track calorie wise, if i've been for a morning run or am going to a hiit class i'm less inclined to stuff my face. Much harder when i'm slobbing around on the couch on doctors orders.

GetTheStartyParted · 27/01/2021 19:09

Evening all

Well done @EmmaGrundyForPM Hope you make the 7lbs Smile

Sorry to hear @Deepintheforest I hope you're fighting fit soon Flowers Concentrate on that, weight always waits to be lost Hmm

Today marks one year since I started dieting. I had lost 61lbs in total before I fell off the wagon in October. Today, I am 52lbs lighter than this day last year. I was annoyed at myself for gaining so much during my break from dieting but I realise I need to give myself a pat on the back for my progress and move forward!

KOKO everyone.

A new month and a new year - the January lose 7lbs per month thread!
cricketmum84 · 28/01/2021 10:37

Morning all, can't believe we are almost at the end of January already!

I'm still going, still not walking but slightly stronger today. I've started taking a high strength cbd oil that seems to be making a difference. Could be all in my mind though. Bloods are booked for Monday - am already stressing as I am so needle phobic.

Down to 15.1 this morning so I've passed the 10 stone loss milestone now! Have finally had a wardrobe clear out and donated two big bin liners of clothes and ordered a couple of dresses in smaller sizes.

@GetTheStartyParted omg you look incredible! Such a teeny tiny waist! You must be feeling so good 😍 you certainly don't look like you have another 2 stone to go!

Sorry to hear you are injured @Deepintheforest. Can you do any seated yoga or similar to keep your flexibility up? I have been working with resistance bands while I'm unable to walk which seems to be helping with the awful seized up calves!

Good work @EmmaGrundyForPM got my fingers crossed for the 7lbs for you! Sounds like you are doing good though!

How is your week going @Howmanysleepsnow? Our homeschooling is so much easier in lockdown 3.0. Littlest DD is year 7 now and they are doing their full timetable as live lessons. I see her for her 40 minute lunch break and the rest of the time she is at her desk! So much easier than primary school when I was actually teaching her (or trying to).

OP posts:
Deepintheforest · 28/01/2021 12:26

@GetTheStartyParted you are looking incredible!
I am trying very hard not to replace my usual 2 hours of dog walking a day with snacking time instead.
@cricketmum84 glad you're feeling a little bit better and fingers crossed the bloods figure it out! I have been doing arm weights sat on a yoga ball to try and at least get my heart going a little. I've never seen seated yoga but i'll look it up! really need something I can do after work to switch off until I can get back to walking/running

GetTheStartyParted · 28/01/2021 16:18

Thank you, you're both too kind Smile
I'm still overweight, my BMI is 29.9 at the moment, so I'm still very close to being obese.

@cricketmum84 good luck with your blood test and I really hope you get some answers and feel better soon. 10 stone is just amazing, you should be so proud of yourself!

@Deepintheforest I hope you find something. I miss swimming still. The dogs get a walk (not 2 hrs though!) but I don't seem to find the time for anything else, in amongst studying, working and helping DS with his school work. I am exhausted, all the time!

TheStirrer · 28/01/2021 17:31

Wow @GetTheStartyParted you look great. Can’t believe you need to lose 2 stone more.

@cricketmum84 & @Deepintheforest. Hope you both are on the mend soon - it’s rubbish being unwell.

I seem to be struggling this week - after having a blinder last week I am struggling this week. It’s wet and soggy here so not many walks and have just been feeling a bit down in the dumps which leads to me eating crap. I need to desperately break the habit but it’s tricky after 50 years of comfort eating.

Let’s hope for a better rest of the evening and tomorrow 🤞

GetTheStartyParted · 28/01/2021 19:26

Thank you Grin

I hope your week gets easier. It is so hard to make good choices when you're craving junk food.

I needed some comfort food today, so made a keto lasagne, it was delicious but probably about a million calories!

cricketmum84 · 29/01/2021 11:36

The worrying weight loss has started again after a week of staying around the same. Weighed at 14.12 this morning despite eating well yesterday and even having a few sweets as a treat.

Blood tests can't come quickly enough!

OP posts:
TheStirrer · 30/01/2021 09:24

Morning all - another day of rain here 😢

@cricketmum84 - my thoughts are with you - it must be a very worrying time for you and your family. It is good blood tests are soon - hopefully the results won’t take too long and the doctors can get you on the road to recovery. Flowers
I have lost 0.5lbs today so now 13st 10 and have lost 6.5lbs this month so just short of the 7lbs but I have a couple of days so might sneak in if I behave myself .

Was hoping for a bike ride but not feeling keen at the mo!!!
