Morning all! Link to previous month is here:

The December thread - Lose 7lbs/3kg per month! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4097783-The-December-thread-Lose-7lbs-3kg-per-month

All are welcome to join, there's a really good mix of diets and methods and everyone is really helpful and great at motivating each other. December was quiet but that's to be expected! I've gained a couple of pounds over the Christmas period so am starting at 16.4. Would love to be 15.10 by the end of January!

It will be a funny old month for me as I'm hopeful for my op date at some point in January so not really sure how I will go with weight loss but every pound I lose surely will make the operation easier so I'm gonna work really hard at it until I get the date through!

Have a lovely weekend!

Thanks, I'm happy to be back on it, looking forward to seeing some results.

Poor DH is feeling hungry today, after months of overindulgence Grin

The spreadsheet is great @HalfShrunkMoreToGo A great motivator when you need to see how far you have come.

Lovely food today:
Breakfast: bacon and cheese cloud bread sandwich (a winner with the whole family)
Lunch: cucumber, celery and mayo
Dinner: Chinese 5 spice chicken stir fry

Howmanysleepsnow · 12/01/2021 20:35

Doing ok today food wise: fasted until 14.00. Prawn and cottage cheese salad for lunch, warm salmon green bean and spinach salad with an apple cider/ olive oil vinaigrette from dinner just now. Snacks: 2 hotel chocolat chocolates (oops!). Total calories 605 so far. Not many steps but walking the dog later once kids are in bed so will get some in then.
Hectic day homeschooling and doing bits for DH’s lockdown-hit business.
@Mimilondon39 I feel your pain, my youngest 2 are 7 and 8 and neither can focus/ learn unless I actually teach them, online doesn’t cut it. Eldest 2 are 13 and 15 and less intense, though work is more challenging- especially in subjects like computing and business that I didn’t take! At least I have hot water. Hope you’re getting the boiler fixed soon? Take it easy on yourself in the meantime!

recklessgran · 12/01/2021 21:11

Evening all. Tuna mayo salad for lunch. Sirloin steak and mushrooms with a Diane sauce and salad for dinner. 2 squares of extra dark chocolate for afters.
@GetTheStartyParted your post about the Chinese 5 sp[ce stir fry really made me chuckle as it reminded me of that Michael MacIntyre sketch about all the spices stuck in the cupboard....sorry but just SO funny - thanks for cheering me up!

Howmanysleepsnow · 12/01/2021 22:14

So, I’ve poured a glass of wine and am finishing the day just under 800cal and just under 10k steps, feeling a little less stressed and a lot less hungry than recently.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 13/01/2021 07:52

Start of this weight loss journey was 233lb, BMI 35.4

30/12/2020 - 186lb, BMI 28.3
06/01/2021 - 185lb, BMI 28.1
13/01/2021 - 183lb, BMI 27.8

Loss this week - 2 lb
Loss this month - 3 lb
Total loss since starting - 50 lb

Mimilondon39 · 13/01/2021 08:30

Wow halfshrunk that’s really impressive. Well done! All the meals you guys are making sound delicious - yum. Feeling more positive today - husband managed to fix boiler (phew!) and was very attentive and sweet yesterday. The home schooling was a nightmare but just going to do what I can - it’s not worth having a breakdown over. Didn’t eat much yesterday as felt too stressed so silver linings and all that...

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/01/2021 08:53

9st12.5lbs!!! First time under 10stone this year!
I’m planning on forcing the dc to do Joe wicks with me to break up homeschooling and I’ve promised DH I’ll workout with him tonight (cardio plus rower: not looking forward to it but it’ll do me good) plus I’ve got the dog to walk so hopefully will burn calories today.
Lunch will involve prawns as they need using today, probably another omelette or a salad.
Dinner for everyone else is lamb. Veggie Dd will have halloumi, I’ll have salmon (left over from last night so needs eating) and we can all have green veggies with mint and feta from the fast800 recipe book as a side. The rest of the family will have potato with theirs too. Unless the chicken needs eating before the lamb, in which case it’s sundried tomato stuffed chicken with green veg.

Howmanysleepsnow · 13/01/2021 23:39

Forgot to do the salmon for my dinner as too busy making everyone else’s so just had the veggie side which was gorgeous and surprisingly filling! Consequently I’m on 848 calories in for the day despite a glass of wine and some lebkuchen left over from Christmas (essential to cope with homeschooling). Workouts and walking totalled 807 calories out, so ate my exercise calories plus 41... surely I must have lost? Fingers crossed!

Howmanysleepsnow · 14/01/2021 09:41

Half a pound down today so 9st12.
Plan for today: walk to supermarket, and walk again with dc and ddog for daily exercise. Possibly joe wicks...
Meals: cottage cheese salad for lunch (no breakfast as 16:8), sundried tomato and herb stuffed chicken with green veg for dinner (dc and dh will have pasta with theirs too)
SW January 10st (then gained 4lb)
CW 9st 12
Total loss 6lb
Net loss 2lb
Goal for this month 9st 8lb
GW 9st 6lb

cricketmum84 · 14/01/2021 10:15

Morning all!

Hope we are all well, not too cold and enjoying the snow (those of us who have it!) it's pretty heavy here! Just watching someone wheelspinning up our cul de sac in a rear wheel drive lol.

I'm down to 15.9 today so 9lbs for the month so far and 9 and a half stone in total. DH being a bit demotivating and complaining it's going too fast and I need to eat more.

Haven't decided on a good plan yet but thinking something warming! I have some veggie chorizo style sausages that would go nice with a little bit of cheesy mash.

Have a good day all. I'll catch up on the last couple of days when I finish work!

Afternoon.

I can only weigh in when I go into the office. Which was yesterday.

Sw: 13st13
Cw: 13st7.5

Delighted with that over 2 weeks 😃

Howmanysleepsnow · 14/01/2021 14:01

Wow, amazing losses so far this month @cricketmum84 and @CumbrianExile. Well done.

Tanaqui · 14/01/2021 17:16

Well done Cricket and Howmanysleeps! But @cricketmum84, I am sorry you are feeling so rough.

I have had a bit of a crappy week, meant to start cutting calories as was back at work, but am missing all the exercise I was doing and keep eating to leaven the boredom at work! But due on so hoping to improve things. Have been doing 12:12, and determined to move to 14:10 next week- edging my way up!

Tanaqui · 14/01/2021 17:16

Oh well done @CumbrianExile, that is fab!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/01/2021 07:10

Well, I've lost 2lbs over the last 10 days which is bloody depressing. I lost a lot of weight a few years ago (and kept it off until I injured my back last year) and lost a lot of weight in the first few days. I was expecting the same this time so am disappointed. I'm now in my 50s so don't know if that makes a difference?

I'll keep on with it because I need to lose it but looks like I've got a long slog ahead

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 15/01/2021 07:42

@EmmaGrundyForPM 2lb in 10 days is a fantastic loss, it's only recommended to lose 1lb a week so you're ahead of track. It won't all fall off in one go, it will take time but they recommend a slower loss to make it more likely to be sustainable because slower changes are more likely to set in good habits around eating that last.

You really are doing well!

EmmaGrundyForPM · 15/01/2021 10:18

Thank you HalfShrank

I guess when I dieter before I lost several pounds in the first few days. I know that was water weight but it gives you real motivation. This time I was expecting the same.

One of the big differences to last time apart from being older is that I used to go to the gym almost every evening. I now am doing very little - a dog walk every day but that's not cardio, plus two Pilates classes a week. I'm not a runner so I'm not really burning calories in the same way as previously.

Ecci · 15/01/2021 18:45

Weigh in today, ST'S. I was kind of expecting that because its been so cold and miserable this week and I've been overdoing the hot dinners. I've made several lentil/bean and veggie bakes, which are low cal and delicious but I've eaten huge amounts. Must get portion size back under control.

OnlyOneOption · 15/01/2021 19:02

Hi do you mind if I join in, I did post once before but then fell off the thread, I've namechanged and have been keeping to it behind the scenes.

I've got about 4 stone to lose but determined to lose all, if not most of it in 2021. I've been "dieting" for at least a decade and have gained instead of lost and it needs to stop.

Howmanysleepsnow · 16/01/2021 10:51

I weighed in yesterday at 9st12lb, but today I’m up to 9st13lb despite only 1050 calories yesterday, 475 of which I used as active calories. Oh well, surely the scales have to drop soon.

TheStirrer · 16/01/2021 11:06

Frustrating isn’t it @Howmanysleepsnow.

I thought I had been pretty good but only lost 0.5lbs this week so now 14st dead ..... getting so fed up I can’t seem to get to the 13s. I keep telling myself it will happen eventually and all those half pounds add up over a year. If only I could stop those odd bits of cheese and chocolate. Blush - need a bit more willpower!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2021 11:15

Weighed in this morning at 13stone exactly, really want to get into the 12s by Wednesday which is my official weigh in day so need to resist the weekend snacking.

Had Quaker Oats winter spice and vanilla porridge for breakfast which was absolutely delicious.

@Howmanysleepsnow try focusing on having lots of water this weekend. I often find that it really helps move the scales, even if my calorie consumption doesn't change.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 16/01/2021 11:19

@TheStirrer keep chugging on, you will get into the 13s, try doing something different so maybe pick an exercise you haven't done before and do that for a week, or change your diet for a few days to go low carb or veggie only. Sometimes a change seems to restart your metabolism.

I really like the Our Parks couch to fitness exercise programme

I was 16stone 9lbs at beginning of august last year at 37 yrs old, having been obese from 11yo, now tantalisingly close to getting into the 12stone bracket and only 18lbs away from a healthy BMI. If I can do it, you can.

cricketmum84 · 16/01/2021 12:23

Happy weekend everyone!

I've dropped again to 15.6 which means I've lost 12lbs so far this month! I had ordered 2 new dresses in a 16 but both too big so I need to send them back. Got DH to take a pic for me yesterday and I can't believe the difference between my original "fat pic" and now.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo that porridge sounds lovely! And fantastic work on the loss so far.

@TheStirrer yes all those half pounds add up quickly! Go weigh out half a pound of butter and you will be surprised at how much fat that actually is.

Welcome @OnlyOneOption :) you can do this!

Quick update health wise - still unable to walk and worryingly raising my feet is almost impossible right now. Had to sleep on the sofa last night as I couldn't get up the stairs. Spoke to the GP who is pretty worried. Booked in for shitloads of blood tests next week and then referral to a neurologist to rule out MS. Feeling very worried, I'm a total stress starver which is probably why weight has dropped so much in Jan.

Anyway I've added most recent progress picture below. Excuse the resting bitch face I had just battled to walk through the kitchen and was a bit shaky!

A new month and a new year - the January lose 7lbs per month thread!

Thanks everyone for the support. I dont post much but check the thread everyday and it's good for motivation.

Amazing different cricketmum. You look really good! Sorry to hear of your health problems. Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it soon xx

To the pp who is struggling on the brink of the 13's. I know how annoying it is. Feels like it takes forever sometimes. Keep going though. You'll get there x
