Me personally? In the main it’s been a way of life for nearly 3 years and I’ve lost over 30lbs. I had a bit of blip at the start of C19. After all my hard work I just started eating with impunity. Before I knew it I was10lbs up! I needed to get back on it and COVID proof myself 😬 I calorie count, log via MFP app, Intermittent fast, eat-low carb Mediterranean style aka Fast800 Plan and try to stay well hydrated.

There are so many enjoyable lifestyle options out there without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by doing walking vids & strength sessions with light weighs.

As no one size fits all members need to follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless this thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

There is no shaming, competition or harsh words to be found on this thread. We are in this together.

How do you plan to do it? What do you want to achieve? What excites you about your future self? Together, we can create a whole new you!

Jump in 😊. You’ll be glad you did this time next month 😀.

Thanks for thread.

I paused all weight loss during lockdown, now restarting.

Weighed in Wednesday at 229lb, 5ft 8 so BMI is 34.8

First target is 5% loss is 11lb to lose.

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2020 08:16

Hi @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 Thank you for joining. I remember chatting with you before ... I was BustedDreams but the gremlins in MN deleted that username and I can’t get it back.

You’re a lovely height! I’m nearly a foot shorter 😮😬

My stats are:- 138lbs BMI 27. My aim is to get to a healthy BMI which is 12lbs away. Hopefully by Christmas I’ll hit my main goal. For August I’m wanting to lose 4lbs.

In light of all the C19 despondency I’ve been visiting this site for inspiration. It’s quite up lifting.

Making healthy choices/decisions and good mental health are so intwined. If I’m in the right head space everything in life is just that much easier.

What do you do to feel grounded & well?

Hello!

I'm probably starting this thread roughly where I did before, but I'm counting it as a plus that I'm back down to 60.3kg/133lb/9st 7lb from a high of almost 62kg a month ago. That's on the higher end of my "ideal weight for height" range at about 5 ft 4. I'm aiming to get to the middle, which is around 56/57kg. I've made it to 58 before and then gone on holiday and over eaten or ended up comfort eating when stressed.

Just need to try to avoid those traps this time. :)

Here's to a positive August for us all.💪💪

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2020 09:53

Hello @Galvantula That is a plus! It’ll feel really good when you get to where you want to be. Healthier too!

BTW Welcome back 😊

Hello, I'm with you on this. I've lost count of the number of threads like this I've joined or even started... then I've fallen off the wagon. This time I've already been going for about 3 weeks with regular exercise and calorie counting via mfp for nearly 2 weeks. This is the longest I've gone for ages without giving up!

I've been doing Les Mills at home classes and they have been amazing. And using mfp instead of one of the paid for services feels much more sensible! And less restrictive as I can have what I want, as long as I track the calories.

HettyPain · 01/08/2020 10:04

I should have said too, I'm 81.3kg now (was 83kg) and want to get down to 70 and see how I feel. I was at my slimmest at 68kg, when I was a size 10, fit and healthy. Frustratingly that still put me at an overweight BMI but I wouldn't have wanted to be any smaller!

SunshineCake · 01/08/2020 11:14

. I have news. BIG NEWS. HUGE NEWS. NEWS!!!!!!!

I have dropped down into the lower stone bracket. Hurray!!!!

I am so excited, so proud of myself and really motivated.

I ran this morning, 5.3km, my 44th run since I started in May. I then walked with the dog for 80 minutes and just so happy.

I'll let it go how long I had spent dreaming up a new August thread title GrinGrin. Great to have you back *@TheRealHousewife, I did a few shout outs in the hope you would find us!

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2020 11:56

Hi waves excitedly @SunshineCake that is great news, the best news! I’m so proud for you! You’ve done brilliantly! Sorry, I didn’t see the shout outs apart from one on the old thread.

In regards to the title, I used ‘Lose’ in it as we used that before. A see a similar thread is now running but never mind. Room for all.

Today’s menu is omelette for lunch and steak and salad for evening meal. Reminder to self, drink the water 😬

I’m with you in regards to MFP. It’s a great app!

Lunch 🥗.

This morning when filling car up I was so tempted to buy (& eat) a bar of chocolate 🍫... but didn’t. Pacified myself by looking forward to my lunch. Now I’m glad I didn’t succumb to a momentary craving. That’s all it was ... momentary 😊.

We are having chip shop lunch as an early birthday lunch for DD as they are shut on her actual birthday. I'm just having chips to avoid the batter on fish and don't want a burger even if there was one I could have so not the best lunch but it is just one meal and I'll run again on Monday.

It was funny when I got on the scales as I said to myself as long as I am the same as Thursday if not less then that will be okay then I say double digits for the pounds and thought what?!?!? I thought I'd put over a stone on in two days GrinShockHmm and then I thought to look at the stones and then💡and then Shock and Grin.

SunshineCake · 01/08/2020 13:52

*@Galvantula well done on not gaining while on holiday!

Galvantula · 01/08/2020 14:43

Yaysunshine that must have been a good feeling when you figured it out!

I am also trying to resist random impulses to eat @TheRealHousewife. Although if I do decide I want something, I just make it a small thing. So I get a sweet treat if I need a boost, but it's not wrecking my progress.

I had some disappointment today as I couldn't get my prescription filled so I have to wait until next week. I'm so impatient to see if it will help with the ADHD. I felt really crushed, but I'm getting on with what I need to do and comfort eating only a tiny box of mini Smarties. 😂 I do feel that the diagnosis is already making me feel a bit more resilient. I can recognise why I feel anxious and also not always blame myself for mistakes. :)

Foreverlexicon · 01/08/2020 14:49

Fantastic news @SunshineCake

I had a dreadful day yesterday. Was grumpy all day despite going to the inflatable water lagoon park (great fun but man am I sore!) and lunch with the gf. Major chocolate binge, felt very upset about my body and inability to just eat like a normal person.

Went for a run this morning (7.6k; aiming to get my 160k in a month Nike badge) and had a good long think. Had a bit of an epiphany that my body image issues are very directly linked to what I eat. I think I’ve drawn some helpful conclusions and made a plan for some financial stuff that was stressing me out.

Today is going much better and I feel much more positive. Quick ride on the horse then off to work.

fallfallfall · 01/08/2020 17:13

What a lovely way to start a new month 😊.
sunshine did a wonderful job real while you were off.
I’ve had a rough 7 months, got the body under control now, and soon (in 2 lbs) I’ll be in rarely charted territory!
151.7 this am, so BMI 26.9 cuz I’m 5’2 and 3/4 claim 5’3 though...
Honestly just aiming for a healthy BMI so 140.
I’ve been listening to a few Harvard University lectures on obesity (you tube).
Really excited as I think I can have another good month.
I look forward to meal ideas and exercise inspiration.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/08/2020 17:29

Just logged into my long forgotten MFP account and back in Feb 2017 when I created it I was 255lb.

That was a bit sobering! I was 229 when I weighed on Wednesday and when I stepped on the scale this morning I was 226 so as of today 29lb lighter than I was 3 years ago.

I really want to get under 200lb so I need to stick to this and crack on.

B - nothing
L - chicken, salsa and cheese mini wraps x 2
D - sausages and roast veg (red onion, mushrooms, tomatoes and baby corn)

S - Starbucks Seattle latte milkshake carton

happinessischocolate · 01/08/2020 17:33

Hello, I've nearly lost a stone since the beginning of lockdown, 12lbs to be exact and I'm starting to notice a difference in how my clothes fit. I've been losing gradually and have been logging my calories on MFP, but was probably cheating every now and then. I started taking it seriously about 3 weeks ago, and stopped eating any exercise calories and have noticed a big difference.

I don't think of myself as on a diet, more just educating myself as to how many bloody calories are in stuff, I used to eat loads of crisps, have bits of cheese because I was bored and would quite happily scoff a big bar of chocolate with a cup of tea. No wonder I put on weight. I now have smaller portions and don't feel stuffed when I finish which actually makes the food more enjoyable. I'll occasionally have 2 squares of chocolate, and I enjoy those 2 squares more than I ever enjoyed a whole bar, and no crisps as they're just not worth the calories, I'd rather cook and eat something proper.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/08/2020 17:55

Hi all and welcome @HettyPain and @happinessischocolate

It's just over a year since I joined these threads.... came back from holiday feeling fat and frumpy. Wanted to lose 10kg and this morning when I weighed I was 10.1kg. Though I got lower and higher I'd be in such a bad place if it wasn't for you lot, so a big thank you Flowers

Well done @SunshineCake that's amazing!

(((hugs))) @Foreverlexicon I hope you feel OK

fallfallfall · 01/08/2020 18:20

torys, that is slow but steady progress in the right direction and indeed an accomplishment.
i like looking back at my ongoing weight graph, and despite ups and downs overall it's down and that picks me up when i have a week of little to no change.
it's going to be a hot one today, clear sky and bright sun expecting 36C minimum.

SunshineCake · 01/08/2020 19:36

Sorry yesterday was bad *@Foreverlexicon but very happy you feel better today. It is always good to have realisations. I'm having therapy and sometimes I think how has it taken so many years to work out X but things come to us when it is right and we are ready.

Blush aww thank you *@fallfallfall. I did my best.

The furthest I can go back in my phone is to August 2019 and I am 10.5 lbs lighter than then but I've lost the same weight goodness knows how many times but four years ago I know I was two stone heavier than now. The last time I can remember being in the stone bracket I am now is at most 14 years ago and at least a handful or so.

TheRealHousewife · 01/08/2020 19:47

@fallfallfall I know! (Nice to see you btw) @SunshineCake did a sterling job and I’d like to apologise for not crediting @SunshineCake for taking over in my absence. @SunshineCake Thank You 🥇 🙏😊⭐️ How was your lunch? Chip shop chips are the best!

@Galvantula I hope your ‘script is fulfilled soon! How frustrating for you.

@Foreverlexicon that’s a great distance you completed ... getting nearer to your Nike award badge.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 You’ve made great progress! Like you my journey so far will be 3 years come October. I dread to think what my health & mobility would be like now if I’d not taken action back then. Most certainly at least 30lbs heavier rather than 30lbs lighter. Each night I’m thinking ‘I’m glad I didn’t succumb to the snack dragon 🐉’ and each morning it never ceases to amaze me that any cravings are totally gone.

@happinessischocolate you sound so sorted and in a good head space. You’ve made some serious life style changes there that will keep you in good stead.

Hello you @MrsJonesAndMe Nice to see you 👍😊

I’ve been writing this post on and off for over an hour. I’m half expecting it not to post, it’s been that long. Apologies if I’ve cross posted.

Steak, green beans in cream cheese sauce, roasted tomato and a bit of buffalo mozzarella 🐃 🧀

Joining this thread! Currently pregnant and was overweight by about 2 stone before. 5ft 4 and was 12s 6 starting weight. Have managed to only gain about 12 lbs so far (currently 36 weeks) so whilst I may not start a diet until baby is here I definitely want to cut the carbs and junk down as I've gone carbs mad this pregnancy.

Really want to get to 11s7 by the end of this year and plan to take it slow and steady and walk more with baby when I'm healed.

Thanks for the great links! X
