Welcome founding & new members alike. Jump on board the WoW wagon if you want to be slimmer, healthier, happier and more energetic! You've certainly come to the right place! These threads have been going for sometime now and seem well received. The ladies who post are supportive and inspiring in equal measure. There is no shaming, competition or harsh words.

As no one size fits all members generally follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless we will offer guidance and support if required.

Me personally? I keep on it by calorie counting, logging via MFP app, Intermittent fasting, eating a low carb Mediterranean style diet and staying well hydrated. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of drinking plenty of water. There are so many enjoyable options without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

Interested? Add your name, personal goals, eating/exercise plan etc.

Wednesdays will be WoW (weigh on Wednesday)

Hi gang! Thank you for all the support in January, it wasn't a hugely successful month for me, with only a loss of 1 lb.

However, I am staying positive, I've started to attend the gym regularly, I've even started to enjoy it. I've also discovered some new healthy meals which will form staples of my diet.

I'm determined to get my 20kg off in 2020!

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/01/2020 16:37

Hello, just checking in. I will be aiming to keep up IF (16:8) and need to get back into the healthy lunch habit and off the cola habit that's snuck back in.

Have been to the GP to request thyroid rerun as I feel pants, so dose may need adjusting.

SunshineCake · 31/01/2020 19:14

Giving up cola is the best thing you can do, @MrsJonesAndMe. I used to drink too much and started on bottles still and sparkling water. I realised this morning I haven't had lemonade in ages either.

I'm having this evening off. I've had pizza and ice cream and will have some wine, my first if the year, later. Then tomorrow back on if. I'm already looking forward to getting on the bike again.

Mandraki · 31/01/2020 21:14

Hello! I want to lose 20lb. I'm 30 this March and going away at the end of April to celebrate. Also a beach holiday in December, absolutely need to have lost it by then!

MrsJonesAndMe · 31/01/2020 21:34

I know @SunshineCake and the gluten needs to go too!

Hope you enjoyed your night off.

Welcome @mandraki

SunshineCake · 31/01/2020 22:32

I did. Best bit is I didn't feel a failure for eating. Especially when I had crisps later with the dog Grin. Definitely trying not to weigh tomorrow but I will try and wait until Wednesday. What does everyone do if they weigh weekly but then are up? Do you weigh daily to keep an eye ?

MotherOfLittlePeople · 01/02/2020 02:51

Just checking in.
Hoping for a similar loss in February.
Well done every one on your losses you got this x

annabell22 · 01/02/2020 08:41

Found you! 2.5kg lost in January, I'm doing 16:8 and keeping up with Veganuary, or a plant-based diet anyway. Also running, swimming and strength training.

Galvantula · 01/02/2020 10:37

Place marking so I don't lose you all. 🤗

BustedDreams · 01/02/2020 11:32

Good Morning You Lovely Lot!

Well done on your January losses. It’s feels good to see the scales move in the right direction Grin

Welcome @Mandraki Your plan sounds doable.

Going for OMAD today as going to family later for our New Year Chinese ... yes we like to live on the edge. Was planned for early January but everyone had viruses etc.

Tomorrow traditional roast and is usually OMAD. I don’t normally have a whoosh after OMAD but it keeps the cals down without compromising a delicious meal.

Team ... We can do this. Have a great weekend!

Fell off the wagon a bit last night. I had a healthy kebab but girlfriend wanted desert so I had cookie dough then later a caramel egg and a baileys hot chocolate.

Straight back on it today though and gf is starting a diet too which will make life easier as thats when I tend to slip up!

SunshineCake · 01/02/2020 16:08

Eating all over the place today but I am not beating myself up. I know I am slightly up as I weighed but got dh to look and only tell me if I was the same or down. Just coloured my hair, eaten three sweets and once I've finished listening to my dog singing I am going to go on the bike. I've already been on it for 25 minutes today but I want to do more and it helps off set the lack of calorie counting and the sweets I've had.

SunshineCake · 01/02/2020 17:07

Hellooooo

I'm becoming ridiculous

Just done another session in the exercise bike. 25 minutes mid day and 40 minutes now.

Food wise, no breakfast. Home made bruschetta at 11. This was ciabatta, olive oil, green beans, cherry tomatoes and yellow pepper. Smacked on three cola bottles and just had a fruit tea cake with dairy free spread. Have bought a spinach and prawn linguine for later.

fallfallfall · 01/02/2020 17:11

Well I’m pleased to start the month at 150.5 and have lost 1 lb during January.
I’ve earned the perfect month award for exercising daily and if I exercise today I will reach 365 days of exercise.

Checking in for February - another miserable month Sad

Starting weight loss on 1 Jan was 12:9

Last WOW was 12:1 so lost 8lbs so far in 2020. Would like to lose a further 4 - 6 lbs in Feb. Now I have almost recovered from my Extreme Dentistry (which required me to eat three times a day with brutal antibiotics) I am going back to IF and hoping to throw a couple of OMAD days in the month too.

Good Luck fellow Losers Flowers

SunshineCake · 01/02/2020 19:52

I feel like I want to go on the bike again. I'm feeling weird about this. When I did the bike months before it was very much do the bike then have lunch but this feels different. It's not the panic feeling I used to get when pregnant if I didn't swim twice a week, nor the not being able to settle until I walked my dog twice a day. Just wanting to go on the bike Confused.

Foreverlexicon · 02/02/2020 06:56

I had a good day. Struggled a little getting back on the wagon as I wanted all the sugar but I was good.

B - yoghurt with mango and passion fruit coulis and granola
L - red lentil, tomato and pepper soup
S - Apple
D - chilli beef stir fried with peppers and sugar snap peas.
No exercise and didn’t quite manage my steps as it was a bit of a paperwork day at work but I don’t think I was a million miles off.

Gf is low carbing which kept dinner very low.

Going to ride the horse this morning and might go for a quick run or do the shred before work if I have time but I will see!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 02/02/2020 09:18

Hello everyone, happy February!

I'm expecting a gain this week for WoW. Every six weeks I have a weekend without my daughters at home, this is when I see my friends, go out, and eat lots usually. I'm not going to guilt myself about this at all - it happens once every six weeks - it's what I do on the other 40+ days that's going to have a long term impact on my life!

I'm making sure to eat well around the socialising though, whereas before the entire week would be a write-off.

I earned my 25mile cycling medal with Race At Your Own Pace last month, and have signed up to do the same again this month. Once I'm properly back at work and in a good routine I'm going to up it to the next level which is a 50mile medal.

I've been loosely following the Slimming World plan but have been cross-referencing with My Fitness Pal because I was getting a bit annoyed on some days when I was going "over my syns" and feeling guilty, then inputting the same food into MFP and discovering I was under 1000kcals! I also know from experience that my body simply cannot tolerate the levels of pasta and potato the diet encourages so I think I'll eventually end up taking the bits of the plan that that suit, and adapting to make things work long term.

A good friend of mine has been intermittent fasting for the last month and has lost half a stone without changing her eating/drinking habits within her eating window. It's not something I'm ready for yet, but maybe if things start to stall further down the line it's something I can try.

I'm feeling so very positive at the minute, very determined. Have a great week everyone. 😊

DrDiva · 02/02/2020 09:19

Morning! Hope you are all primed and ready for the new month, short as it will be!

I have finally succumbed to the tummy bug that DH and DS have had, so yesterday was spent nibbling crisps and drinking flat lemonade. How’s that for a healthy diet?!... feeling better today though, so hopefully back to the veggies.

I completely forgot to weigh this week. It was such a ridiculous week. One week until the builders start on one of our new bathrooms, can’t wait to have a lovely new house - we are having quite a lot done, but it’s cheaper than moving, and we suddenly realised that we are well in catchment for our preferred secondary school (it’s a bit out of the way, so no one realises really!). It is a bit stressful right now on top of everything else but will be worth it in the end. And I have said to DH that after this we are going to have an uneventful 2020 for the rest of the year. Boring is good!! And then maybe healthy eating and exercise will be second nature. Smile

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

LouHotel · 02/02/2020 10:05

Clocked 24,000 steps yesterday to start the month off right.

Finished January with 10lb weight loss and 362,000 steps.

DD11 months slept through the night for the first time in ages, it looks like her top teeth have broken through. A good night sleep does everything for the resolve.

Im back to work in 4 week and would love to lose another 10lbs but would be happy with a stone in total from new year's day.

NotUnderMyHeart · 02/02/2020 10:21

Good morning all. Wondering if I can join please? I’m at least 5 stone overweight and have vowed to make this year the year I shift it! I’m doing 16:8, drinking at least 2 litres of water per day and the biggest thing is I’m cooking from scratch every day. I’ve joined a great group on fb started by a lady local to me who lost 7 stone last year and her husband lost 11 stone (!) by creating healthy but really delicious recipes. I’m having a light lunch (eg. salad/soup, fruit) and following those recipes for my evening meal, not counting calories or anything but being careful of portion control and have lost 19lbs so far since I started on 6th Feb and my partner has lost 16lbs in the same time. I have a long way to go but finally feel it’s sustainable as I’m genuinely enjoying my food and so (so far!) see no reason I’d want or need to stop. I currently weigh every day but am looking forward to embracing WoW and seeing everyone’s losses!

BustedDreams · 02/02/2020 10:31

Good Morning!

@Foreverlexicon great that your gf has seen the light Grin I agree it’ll make like easier if you are both eating the same. Plus you’ll be able to encourage & support each other.

@fallfallfall 👍🏅👏. Month on month it’ll make a big difference. Well done! I’m a very slow loser too so I know how hard earned every 1lb is.

@2020newme that’s a great loss for January! Well done 🏅👍👏

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa sounds very sensible and enjoyable. Hope you have a great time! Keep the positive vibe you have going ... positivity always makes it easier!

@DrDiva It will be great when it’s all done. Absolutely worth it. I agree boring (at times) is good for recharging and grounding ones self.

@SunshineCake how are you feeling today?

Had Chinese as planned last night. Totally not worth it! Woke feeling over full and I hadn’t particularly enjoyed it at the time either. I’m making the rest of February take away free. OH is on board with that so that will make it easier. He does have a tendency to come home with take away if he’s been out and about. He’s promised to not do this any more.

Today is OMAD with a Roast Pork dinner between 15:00 - 16:00.

Enjoy your weekends Smile

Cross posted.

@LouHotel what a fantastic result! Well done 👍👏🏅. You’ve got off to a good start this month too! Keep it up.

A warm welcome @NotUnderMyHeart. You’re very welcome to join us. It sounds like you’ve developed a way of eating that works for both you and your dh. That’s half the battle. Congratulations on your change of lifestyle and loss so far.

NotUnderMyHeart · 02/02/2020 11:22

@BustedDreams thanks for the welcome! Yes I do really believe that’s the key-finding something you enjoy so there’s actually no reason not so stick to it! (Partner keeps saying he wants a curry despite me making loads of delicious ones which is infuriating but I’m ignoring him!) Oh and of course I meant 19lbs since 6th Jan, not 6th Feb! 🙈

BustedDreams · 02/02/2020 11:34

@NotUnderMyHeart I’d assumed you meant 6th Feb last year [wow] That’s awesome progress!
