Funnyfishface · 17/01/2018 23:47

I’m starting tomorrow. I will weigh and measure myself in the morning and plan to log my weight here weekly.
I would love it if you would join me.
Who’s in?

OP posts:
curcur · 03/03/2018 23:28

Thanks, I ask because so many posters have said they want to lose a stone. I’m 5”3, 11st 5 and a size 10-12. If I lost 2 stone, to be in the healthy range, I think that I would be tiny. Yet I’m much heavier than lots of previous posters. Not sure that I get it!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 04/03/2018 01:59

I guess it’s also to do with brands and the shape you have. I’m usually a 10 but would need a 12 in certain brands. Can you guess which I prefer to buy? Wink

But also some people just carry weight better. I think if it goes on evenly you’re ok but if it’s all in your tummy or bottom you need to buy a larger size to cover that.

I’m in the healthy weight range now (and I can feel it too) but I’m trying to get to the lower end of it. I think it will just save me so much time and energy when I don’t even need to think about what I wear because it all looks good.

Guess I shouldn’t have had that Brie baguette just then. 😅

Maturestudent82 · 07/03/2018 17:14

Oh Brie baguette, yummy! I am a fiend for cheese, would love to just let loose and eat a huge amount of it instead of weighing out a 30g 'treat' like I am at the moment!!!! Not lost any more, body seems stuck at this point which is a bit frustrating. Still slogging away though, although not sure how much longer my resolve will last if I don't see even a tiny loss soon.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Apathyisthenewblah · 07/03/2018 18:28

I'm late to the party but please can I join?
5ft2 and 10st10 at my last weigh in. My happy healthy weight is 9ish stone. Which I was two years ago, until a change of job, mental health issues and a doctorate to finish meant I was eating my feelings and doing no exercise.
Now I'm healthy in mind, I want to get healthy in body. Got a hacking cough now so it will be diet rather than exercise til I shift it.
Really want to get to 10st by end of April and back to 9st by summer

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 08/03/2018 00:15

Hi Apathy! I’m just doing diet as well. It’s definitely working, but slowly. But then I’m only doing 1500cal. I’m shocked at all the people living off 1200 or less. No way could I keep up! What’s your plan?

Mature, I plateaued for weeks too! Then bam, scales were 800g lighter overnight! How bizarre. I was feeling demoralised but I guess the body is still working at it even if we can’t yet see it on the scales. You’re very close to your goal! Keep at it!!

I guess I may as well weigh in now...

18 Jan 2018 - 9.1
25 Jan 2018 - 8.9
2 Feb 2018 - 8.9
10 Feb 2018 - 8.8
Same until 5 Mar 2018 - 8.7

Current 55.6kg = 122.5lb = 8.756st
Goal 25 June: 48 = 105.82 = 7.55

Not too far to go. I’m feeling utterly exhausted this week. DD is getting me up 5 times a night with teething and I think we’re all coming down with a cold. My body is begging me to eat for the energy I need. I think it especially wants comfort food. 😭

OneMoreFrog · 08/03/2018 10:35

Just checking in, I started off at 10 st 11.8 on Jan 1st, I'm now 9st 12.2, so almost lost a stone in two months, want to be down to 9st 3 by June!

Apathyisthenewblah · 08/03/2018 20:07

That is great going Frog, any tips for a newbie?

Apathyisthenewblah · 08/03/2018 20:08

I tried to do 1200 calories. I really struggled so looking at 1400 which is much more doable somehow!

Maturestudent82 · 11/03/2018 19:26

Over 2000 calories today ShockAngry

Just demolished an absolute mountain of cheesy risotto. Whoops! Back on it tomorrow Wink

Jozxyqk · 12/03/2018 10:59

Alright if I join?

I'm just under 5'3", currently 9st 10lb. I suffer with a chronic pain (neurological) disorder, which means it's difficult for me to exercise. I have the occasional good day but it's not enough to get a exercise proper regime going, I've tried.
My happy healthy weight is somewhere around 8 - 8st 7lb, which for me is about a size 8.

I tried low BIWI's boot camp (twice), not for me. I'm a recovering ED sufferer so I won't be counting calories. I think I'm best doing fasting days occasionally, portion control, lots of salad & veg, "real food". I will also be prepping some smoothies for the days when I can't get out of bed (which is quite a lot, & I usually have a bit of warning by way of gradual increase in pain.) TBH I've been relying too much on cheese, crackers & fruit which DH brings me - nice but fattening. DH keeps ordering takeaway because he doesn't want to cook, which isn't helping. He has mobility issues & does all the childcare when I'm unwell, as well as studying for his degree.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, except for very good quality chocolate. Even then I mostly prefer the dark stuff. I don't do sweeteners, overly processed food, or "low fat" unless low fat is the natural choice.

I am not going to punish myself for slipups. It's a lifestyle change. It's supposed to help me feel better about myself.

stegosauruslady · 12/03/2018 16:52

May I join? I'm 5'3 and weigh 10 stone. I'd like to lose another stone (I have lost three in the last year).

I count calories and I'm a long distance runner (thank God, I'd die on 1200 a day!).

For lunch today I had a halloumi salad (no oil, measure the halloumi) and for dinner we are having italian beef stew, I won't have the carbs but will have a big salad instead. Snacks have been an apple with a teaspoon of peanut butter and later on I'll have a cuppa and a club biscuit.

OneMoreFrog · 12/03/2018 21:54

apathy I started off doing Les mils workouts like Body Combat and running, but I got an injury, now I'm counting calories and on 1300 thereabouts...trying to do low impact exercise like walking/swimming

OneMoreFrog · 12/03/2018 21:54

Good luck x

ihatethecold · 13/03/2018 07:17

Hi everyone.
I’d like to join and get some support.
I’m 44, 5’2 and weigh 10st 4.
I’m also going into menopause so I’m having some lovely symptoms.
I want to feel better so eating healthily Andrew losing a few pounds will help.
I ate 1500 yesterday.
I can’t do 1200 cals but I do walk 10000 steps most days.
I won’t eat any extra cals because of my step count.

I ate a thin bagel and 2 scrambled eggs.
Peice of watermelon at 11
Salad for lunch 330 cals.
Apple at 3
Salmon and quinoa for dinner 500

I’m using MFP to track. I also have a drink water app so I am drinking 1.5 to 2l water per day. That’s mostly to help my hormonal headaches.

Humphriescushion · 13/03/2018 07:32

Can I join the club as well!
Been in denial for a few months and overeating and just back from a holiday where I ate everything in sight ( twas great!)
I will weigh on friday but think I am around the 10.2 mark
I am 5ft 3
I will be doing slimming world once I get my head around it - there were green and days when I did it last! Long gone now and everyone looks at me as if i am mad when I mention these.
Will check in on friday when I brave the scales.

Had a wake up call when I realised how much processed food I was eating even though I normally cook from scratch and thought it was healthy enough.

stegosauruslady · 13/03/2018 15:47

Hi everyone!

How did today go for us all?

I'm on track, lunch was another halloumi salad, then apple and peanut butter. I went for a run, then dinner tonight is steak and a giant pile of steamed broccoli with a glass of wine. I'll have a cuppa and a club this evening.

ihatethecold · 13/03/2018 16:55

today has been better than yesterday so far. I keep boiled eggs in the fridge so I can grab one if I'm getting hungry. Ive had 900 cals so far today and walked 10000 steps.
Im having salmon and quinoa again tonight.
Its good in that I'm eating much more veg, fruit and salad which always makes me feel better in myself.

Humphriescushion · 16/03/2018 08:26

So I weighed myself! Was horrible but denial is worse so it is done!

Was 64.5 kilos - 10 stone 2 Shock

I am doing slimming world and trying to avoid processed food as much as possible.
Would like to lose at least 7 pounds - probably need a lot more but will start with this aim. I tend to lose weight from my bum and hips and have big boobs so worry I look like a lollipop. Is a pain!

I hate - I am also menopausal, hot flushes, mood swings and very angry. Going to try and channel this. I am also very hungry.
Good luck everyone.

ihatethecold · 16/03/2018 10:21

Hi Humphrie.
Ive just started using MFP app. Im on 1200 cals a day and im having to choose very wisely. Ive also cut out Caffiene, alcohol and chocolate to help me deal with migraines.
Ive lost 2lbs so far this week and its been ok. Lots more vegetables and salad, eggs for breakfast. very minimal carbs.
I stopped my hot flushes by taking Black cohosh, I also take st johns wort to help with low mood and anxiety.
I stopped taking these supplements about 2 weeks ago and I feel ok. no hot flushes and my mood is good.
I also walk 10,000 steps a day and get out side to walk my dogs.
walking my dogs is better than valium although knackering sometimes.

Humphriescushion · 16/03/2018 11:15

Thanks Ihate for advice, will give black cohosh a try and mfp. Hot flushes went away for quite a while but have come back but not as bad.

Well done on the 2 lb. i am hoping for the same each week, it soomn adds up.
Could not agree more about dog walking! Am about to go out with mine now and the sun is shining! It is great for the mood.

stegosauruslady · 16/03/2018 11:24

I'm still doing well, managing 8 or more of my five a day and controlling my snacking!

Ran five miles this morning too. I'm weighing in at 10 stone 3, aiming for 9 stone 9 by my holiday in a month.

ihatethecold · 16/03/2018 11:39

Thats great Stegosauruslady.

I have hip pain since I became peri menopausal so I can't go faster than a brisk walk.
Im away in NY in a months time so id ideally like to be 4lbs lighter. I think thats doable.
My starting weight was 10st 4lbs . If im 9st something I will be pleased.
My goal is 9.5 stones. At my age (44) feeling healthy is more important to me than the scales.

stegosauruslady · 16/03/2018 15:57

@ihatethecold I lost three and a half stone last year to get that healthy feeling, this last chunk is pretty much just vanity and a good distraction from TTC madness.

Today I ate..

One piece of toast with peanut butter and jam
Vegetable sushi and popchips
Chicken curry (no rice!) and salad
Club biscuit (yes, I have an addiction)

Maturestudent82 · 16/03/2018 16:57

I'm so frustrated, been stuck on same weight for last couple of weeks. I was so pleased to break the nine stone barrier but just cannot seem to drop any more!! I'm still hovering around the 1200 calorie mark and really don't want to go below that, spend enough time thinking about food as it is. Argh!!

Apathyisthenewblah · 16/03/2018 19:05

I'm finding 1200 calories surprisingly low. I dread to think was I was eating before!
I'm finally kicking the virus I've had for 2 weeks so hoping to get back to the gym next week.
I've been so sedentary and feel the least fit I've ever been so I hardly know where to start. Weigh in on Monday for me, finger crossed I'll have lost a pound or two!
I'm 40 next year so want to get into good habits now before it all gets harder.
