I’m starting tomorrow. I will weigh and measure myself in the morning and plan to log my weight here weekly.
I would love it if you would join me.
Who’s in?

I'm in despair here. Just weighed myself and back to my start weight! I've not eaten over 1200 calories so no idea what's happened. So demoralised.

squidkid · 25/01/2018 13:31

No weighing here but boyfriend says I look obviously smaller despite being on my period.
Have got used to skipping lunch or eating 100-200 calories at lunchtime. Breakfasts were two pieces of toast now one. Alcohol is reduced but I can't seem to stay off it entirely! Have had a stressful week with hospital appointments for my three year old and starting a new job next week, but trying to get into habits I can stay in for a few months until (hopefully) I get to a size I'm happier with.

How do you keep the motivation up, any good suggestions? I'm going to treat myself to a cool new lunch box to try and take healthy food to work every day.

squidkid · 25/01/2018 13:32

Maturestudent I'm sorry to hear that. How do you feel in yourself and do you use any other methods to track your progress like measurements? Hugs, it's hard when you work so hard and it doesn't feel like it's getting anywhere.

ps. what are you a mature student of??

Mummy11817 · 25/01/2018 14:01

Hi I'm new hear. Any advice would be gratefully received. I'm 25 first time mum to 5 month daughter. Put on 2 stone while pregnant now (12.5 stone :( ) Cut down on calories but just can't seem to loose anything expect a few pound but then straight back on again :( walk most days and have cut out all chocolate/crisps/ sweet etc. Someone please HELP !!!

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 25/01/2018 15:00

Hi, after losing nothing last week I weighed myself last night (2 days before my official way day but I felt thin so thought I would give it a go!) and have lost 2 lbs. Big improvement on last week, so obviously tracking what I eat rathar than just trying to be 'careful' helps. Interestingly I haven't felt deprived!
Maturestduent, I wonder if you will have a delayed weightloss? That sometimes happens to me, mabe metabolism temporarily slowing down?

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 25/01/2018 15:01

way day? Hmm weigh day!

DextroDependant · 25/01/2018 16:17

How disheartening Mature keep at it though, you might get a big loss next week.

Mummy I am logging calories on MFP but different things work for different people, that's usually a good place to start though.

Just had a 10 calorie jelly, went to log it in MFP and they are in there as 3 cals. Oh how I scoffed at people being dim, it is called 10cal. Looked at the pot to confirm and low and behold.... they are 3 cals! Fab!!

Maturestudent82 · 25/01/2018 17:38

Thanks for your support everyone. I've not done anything differently so like you say, hopefully a temporary blip and I'll lose it next week! I don't think it helps I still feel rotten and so definitely a bit more emotional! It's so frustrating as just feel like I'm constantly denying myself, and now it feels like it's for no good reason. I wouldn't mind feeling like I was going without so much if I was getting results! Going to start taking pictures I think, although can only imagine how lumpy I'll look in them!

It is however great to read about others making progress, well done all!!

Maturestudent82 · 25/01/2018 17:39

Oh and squidkid, I'm studying for a masters in public health Smile

Funnyfishface · 25/01/2018 18:26

18 Jan 2018 - 10.1.

25 Jan 2018 - 9.12

Hope you feel better soon Fishy, and well done on the loss! I’d like to join too, I’m 5”4 and weighed 10 st 2 after Christmas. I’ve got down to 9 st 10 using mfp, but would like to be 9 st 4ish. Ideally under 9 but I don’t think I can get there and maintain it! I’m also office based and do very little exercise. Hoping to get out running once the evenings are lighter. Calorie counting seems to be working ok for me so far, I’m allowing myself 1400 per day. I’ve got so much chocolate left over from Christmas, and resisting it is hard!!

wendz86 · 25/01/2018 21:43

maturestudent - my second week I lost nothing but lost 2lbs this week
so I think sometimes it takes a bit longer to come off. Stick at it!

Well done on the loss funnyfishface and hope you feel better soon.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 26/01/2018 02:11

Well done OP! Hope you’ll feel better soon to appreciate the loss.

For me:
18 Jan 2018 - 9.1
25 Jan 2018 - 8.9

2 pounds lost! On my way to my goal of 7.5 which all being well I’ll reach by our 15 June weigh in. That’s with estimated 1 pound per week loss - I don’t imagine I’ll be hitting 2 pounds every week.

Motivation is an interesting point. Even though I can see it’s working it just feels slow. I ate half a family size pizza last week (with extra cheese and sauce) because I just felt a bit unmotivated. Also my twins are having a sleep regression (the big one) and I’m so tired I think my body is craving energy from food.

Do you all just get used to the feeling of hunger? I feel hungry all the time! Even when I’ve finished eating I still just feel hungry.

Grufeling · 26/01/2018 07:42

14/01 - 10st 5
21/01 - 10st
26/01 - 9st 8

My scales are VERY old and I suspect unreliable ...

Does anyone have any good recommendations of what new scales to buy?

I'm doing low carb high protein/fat. Seems to be working. Stomach seems flatter and am not as bloated. I guess I may stall next week but I may go the gym to try and up my metabolism.

Funnyfishface · 26/01/2018 21:21

Wow some amazing losses in such a short space of time. Well done

Mature - I feel your pain. Just keep going. Maybe have a day off and eat what you want then get back on it.

Good luck

Continuing to eat under 1200 calories. Have done 4 weeks now with 3 days off.
Can't do pilates while bleeding feels horrible.
Grumpy.

These are the ones I just bought Grufeling they do the job.

Does anyone else get carried away weighing? I am struggling to not get on every day.

We have visitors tonight which .eans I will be drinking, going to mix wine with lemonade so I don't have too much and Save on the calories.

What's everyone else's weekend plans?

Grufeling · 27/01/2018 20:39

Thanks Dextro.

CupcakeWithIcing · 28/01/2018 12:29

I have bought digital scales, I need to loose 14kg to be considered a 'healthy weight' going by BMI calculations.

I'm planning on Pilates and plenty of walking alongside a diet of between 1200 and 1500 calories each day. Do any of you have recommendations for exercises? Preferably for toning. The fat will go with the cardio and diet so I'm not worried about that but I want to make sure that the muscles underneath aren't completely dead.

I am sick and tired of feeling heavy and unhealthy. I want to be able to look nice in clothes again Sad

Maturestudent82 · 29/01/2018 08:07

I've lost those three pounds again?! Talk about yo yo! Went to the gym yesterday and booked into two classes this week so hopefully that'll really get those pounds coming off!

Have a great week everyone.

DextroDependant · 29/01/2018 10:05

Well I have managed to gain half a pound. I have honestly stuck within my 1200 calories so I don't know what went wrong.

I have been having bread, counted in my calories but I wonder if that is what is sabotaging me. Well it's a fresh week, going to stick at it and cut the bread out.

CupcakeWithIcing · 29/01/2018 13:43

@DextroDependant how long have you been having 1200 calories for? Sometimes when your body gets used to a certain amount it begins to adjust and your metabolism slows down. Green tea will help along with mixing your calories e.g 1500 then 1300 then 1700 then 1100 etc.

Maturestudent82 · 29/01/2018 13:44

I have cut bread and found it makes no difference to my weight but does make me less bloated so I look slimmer. But oh my goodness do I miss it!!

DextroDependant · 29/01/2018 15:37

Just a week @cupcakewithicing I was on 1360 before that but wanted to speed things up, it back fired massively!

Will go with 1200 again this week and maybe go back up to 1350 if that doesn't work.

maturestudent it's one of my favourite things! I probably use a quarter of my calories on bread Confused

Mum2KSS · 29/01/2018 17:09

Hi all!
Can i join please? I'm also 5'2" and currently weight 10.5 st (67.3kg). Age = 41 next month. I've started the special k diet today - had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and lunch with skimmed milk and feeling ok so far. Hoping to do this for 2 weeks to kickstart a more long term weight loss :)
