I’m starting tomorrow. I will weigh and measure myself in the morning and plan to log my weight here weekly.
I would love it if you would join me.
Who’s in?

Can I join please!

ChangingStates your stats are very similar to mine. I'm 5ft 5 and first thing this morning (pre any food or drink but not post crap, can kid myself that would have made a difference!!) I was 10st 9.2lbs. I also like a couple of glasses of wine in the evening!

I have been really good today, around 1000 calories plus I swam 30 lengths and no alcohol. Am going away for a long weekend 6 weeks today and really want to be 9st something by then so aiming for 10lbs in 6 weeks which I know will be really tough as although my BMI is higher than I would like I am not actually on the officially overweight category, just the top end of normal.

Maturestudent82 · 19/01/2018 07:35

I'm using mfp to log calories and trying not to go above 1200, but am finding it so hard. I have had a tricky relationship with food in the past and so hate feeling like I'm punishing myself if that makes sense. I'm hoping that I'll snap out of it and see it's not a sort of torture to eat well and start enjoying it more.

ILoveMrDarcy · 19/01/2018 09:20

Me! I was 11st 2 on New Years Day. Far too heavy.

Today I was 10st 5. I really want to get under 9, but have a black tie dinner to go to on February 8th. Can I lose 19lbs in 3 weeks? Probably not! I'll try low carb and low calorie. Wine is my problem though!

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 19/01/2018 11:46

I had a disappointing weigh in this morning, 9,10 exactly the same as last week, despite having a careful week! I only ate cake twice this week!
I think my downfall is, wanting to wait til DH returns from work (9pm) to eat together, but being hungry so eating with the kids at 5pm as well :>(

crispybabe · 19/01/2018 11:48

5ft 4 (i think) and 10 stone exactly. My diet is awful and I know that myself. I am joining! I need to wise up!

ooos · 19/01/2018 12:46

I found it helpful to plan my day on my calorie tracking app. Write your breakfast, dinner and tea in it and then you can see exactly how much you are going to eat. If you go over, you can go for a walk to burn the extra calories during the day instead of stressing of an evening and feeling like you have failed.

If you can see how many calories you are going to eat it's much easier to figure out what exercise you need to do and any extra snacks you can fit in.

If I fancy a treat but I am at my calorie limit I either exercise (if it's the daytime) to counteract the extra calories or I will tell myself I can have it tomorrow.

squidkid · 19/01/2018 12:50

Hiya can I join? I'm 5'3" and don't really weigh myself, I expect I'm about 10 stone. I've been dieting /exercising since January 1st and feeling better in my clothes. I have some goal clothes from pre-babies I'd like to find my way back into Grin when I was about a size 8-10 - probably 10-12 now. I find the weighing business gets me down so I'm just going to stick to my plan and my goal is to see the difference in my appearance and the fit of my clothes.

My problems are 1) wine and 2) snacking on cheese at 6pm while making dinner and 3) finding time to exercise

I had a crazy busy year last year with work and exams (and two pre-schoolers at home on my days "off") and hoping this year will be better, with exam passed, slightly reduced hours at work, and kids finally in school and nursery.

Since Jan 1st I've been eating mainly 1200 ish calories a day (I've had a few days off) and I'm trying to do my 10 min pilates DVD every day which I previously found was sustainable and made a difference to my body shape. I'm restricting wine to weekends and to measured out portions only, and eating an apple instead of cheese at 6pm! Clothes feeling a bit better but needing the motivation to keep it up!

Does anyone else short feel like they just lose weight so much slower than tall people??

squidkid · 19/01/2018 12:51

I have so far found these wine substitutes

  1. non alcoholic beer which has negligible calories
  2. soda water with a teaspoon of sugar and a squeezed lime, and a bit of salt
  3. Moroccan mint tea
  4. "yogi" tea, it's kinda like chai
  5. sparkling water

Man... it's like being pregnant again .

ArcticMumkey · 19/01/2018 13:47

I'm 5"2 and trying to lose my baby weight. DS is 3 months old and I really, really enjoyed myself this pregnancy and over Christmas which has resulted in a 2 stone weight gain! I've got a fitbit and am using MFP to stick to 1200 calories and so far have been under every day. I've lost 13lbs since 1st Jan so almost half way there. My weigh in day is Saturday so hoping for a further loss tomorrow!

ArcticMumkey · 19/01/2018 13:48

Should add: starting weight 11st 13, was 1st last week and aiming for 9st 10.

ArcticMumkey · 19/01/2018 13:49

11st last week NOT 1st, that would be quite the loss!

Good luck everyone.

squidkid · 19/01/2018 14:10

13lb is amazing ! Well done!!

Historically I’ve never lost weight fast. Oh well. I tend to keep it off once it’s gone.

Maturestudent82 · 19/01/2018 19:52

Wow, 13lbs! That's brilliant!

I have clocked 1340 calories on mfp and 12000 steps today, so not feeling too bad. Just bored of not eating whatever I want!!

Schmoochypoos · 19/01/2018 20:00

Can I join? Im 5ft 1 and pushing 10stone at the moment, I look like an egg on legs. Would absolutely love to be 8st 10 by Easter. So around 16lbs to lose.

My downfalls are huge bowls of cereal (granola), toast with butter, kids left overs and not actually sitting down to eat so not realising what I’ve eaten over the course of a day. I know I can do it, it’s just getting back into the zone of saying no to treats and eating proper healthy fairly low carb meals.

Bluebirdbook · 19/01/2018 20:05

Can I also join? I’m 10.4 and also need to lose a stone. My downfall is chocolate and wine, so really need to make a conscious effort, especially as I’m aware that I’m drinking too much.

Funnyfishface · 19/01/2018 22:37

Hey 👋🏽 welcome

Arctic - great start -what sort of things are you eating in a day

Schmooch - hi you have similar stats to a few of us here. Egg on legs lol

Hi Bluebird - you are in good company

Mature - well done on your steps

I am working tomorrow - I can be good whilst I’m at work..... it’s when I’m on my own and no one is watching. Shock
I need to get some self discipline
I have taken photos of myself in underwear so I have something to compare to in a months time. I have cut my head off in case the photos get leaked Blush

Sorry Squid I missed you.
Yes I find it very slow losing weight. But then I cheat.

Your 10 minute Pilates dvd sounds good. How long before you noticed a difference? Did it help your core

I hate the gym - I do however love dancing. Strictly style. I’m not very good and have had lessons in the past. Need to get back into it.
I have a desk job so don’t do many steps in the day.
I need to eat less and move more.

Anybody got any tips ?

Another good day here, under calories and no alcohol. Went to the cinema so I wasn't at home in front of the telly or out where alcohol would normally be involved so it was easier not to drink.

Gym and swim planned for tomorrow and also have bought the ingredients to make a 300 calorie miso shitake ramen for lunch Smile Planning is definitely the key to staying on track I think.

ooos · 20/01/2018 00:19

I had a bit of a cheat day again and because of this I have stayed at 75kg which was my Monday weigh in weight. I have filled out my calorie counting app for tomorrow and have planned some stretches and Pilates. I have no excuse not to exercise! I hate getting on the scales and not seeing the number decrease, and I am very much guilty of weighing multiple times a day like PP have admitted to doingBlush. It's just so, satisfying? Watching the numbers go down and down and down. Addictive!

Good luck to everyone Smile and welcome all the newcomers!

ArcticMumkey · 20/01/2018 07:21

Another 3lbs lost in the last week so I'm pleased with that.

Funny- it's not much fun but I'm weighing things out and reducing my portions so breakfast is shredded wheat (40g) , lunch is soup or ryvita with cream or cottage cheese and then having a 'normal' dinner but just a smaller amount. It's hard going as I've been overeating since March so it's a big lifestyle change. The fitbit helps me as I hate exercise but walking is ok, plus I have a 2 year old that needs wearing out!

DH wants to go to Ikea today but I'm not sure I can avoid the meatballs and dime bar cake!

Fintress · 20/01/2018 07:31

I just need to find exercise that I enjoy and that I can do with my dodgy knee.

What about walking. You can build it up. Plug in some earbuds and listen to whatever music you like. You can also do squats, they don't need to be full on arse almost to the ground, you only need to do tiny ones, they will still have an affect. Google exercises for 'bad knee' you will find loads. Speaking as someone that suffered hell for years with bad knees. I've had both mine replaced now but it still took time to build up my quads, worth it though! Strengthening your muscles protects your knees.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 20/01/2018 07:41

Signing in. Ten stone dead and aiming for 9 but at an age when it’s tricky to lose. I’m still on dry January but have been overcompensating with chocolate and biscuits which I can normally resist.

Wineloffa · 20/01/2018 07:51

Can I please join? I'm 5ft 1 and was 9st 7 when I weighed myself on New Year's Day. I've since lost 3lbs, mostly down to dry January but I'd love to get to 8st 10 so I can look decent in jeans again!

Delilah37 · 20/01/2018 07:53

I need to join this too!!
5 ft and 10 st on 1st jan!!! Hadn’t weighed myself for ages so came as a bit of a surprise (well probably not really 😳),
Aim from today - more excercise by walking further with the dog and building up to some running.
I eat healthily most of the time but I just eat too much and too late in the evening (plus a couple of glasses of wine!) so going to reduce portion size and carbs in the evening, and wine 😢.

Does anyone have good ideas for easy lunches to take to work which will actually fill me up!! I don’t really stop to eat for long!

Also - I tend not to eat breakfast as I am in too much of a rush. I don’t think this helps!

Also - I want to wear a bikini this summer (planning first holiday abroad in years and don’t want to look like a weeble!)

CocktailsAndDreams · 20/01/2018 07:53

Can I join please? I'm 5'3" and 11stone. Want to get to 9 stone by the summer.
