I'm 11 stone! The heaviest I've ever been and would like to be 9.5, but a more realistic goal is 10.

I've put on due to multiple rounds of IVF and being banned from exercise.

I'd like to control my portion sizes, have a few less treats (avoid stress rating) and move a bit more (maybe low impact exercise rather than previous hill running which I'm banned from).

I'll also be using my fitbit to track activity vs calories.

Anyone care to join for motivation and support?

Repeat after me "I will exercise today".

QuimReaper · 20/07/2016 11:10

I managed to resist the ice cream and went for a Green Tea Cooler thingie from Costa instead! ...But...

...Anyone else drink Prosecco and eat bagels and cake last night? And anyone else planning sushi and Champagne tonight and a big lunch on Thursday?

Fuck it, I figure it's too late to lose the last 4lbs by Friday anyway! Grin

flowerpotfairy · 20/07/2016 19:55

Quim, totally agree with your fuck it attitude! You are going to be beautiful and I don't think anyone would notice/care about 4lbs!!! Enjoy all your lovely food and drinks 😊

gee, i had strawbs and cream. Technically on low carb i can have as much cream as i want but doesn't really work if i also have ice cream and beer haha.

Mumoftwoyoungkids · 20/07/2016 22:16

Humph. I haven't had any of the nice things. And I've done loads and loads of exercise. And I had still put on a pound since last week this morning.

Please please can someone say something inspiring like "maybe you are developing muscle" or "weight fluctuates, you will probably will find you've lost loads next week" or something, anything(!) to stop me from drowning myself in a vat of chocolate with wine on the side!

geeup · 21/07/2016 07:40

Both those are definitely true mum! I also was good yesterday - went to the gym and had soup for dinner. I also made bircher muesli last night so I have had a healthy breakfast on the train. Going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and see if it's made any difference!

We seem to be abandoning this thread a bit. And I'm struggling! Doing everything right but not really losing weight. I've cut loads of out my diet and I'm cycling about 12 miles a day. I should be losing weight but I'm just not. It may be the cycling - perhaps I'm gaining more muscle - the trouble is it is hard to tell.

Anyway - does anyone fancy a roll call? Here's my stats:-

Start weight:-11 stone
Current Weight:- 10 stone 10
Target weight by 30/07:- 10 stone 6 (wedding) (Well that ain't gonna happen)
Target weight by 17/08:- 10 stone 3 (holiday) (ditto)
Final Target weight :- 9 stone 12.

I just need to keep going. If nothing else - if I start eating more I'll put the four measly pounds thatI've lost straight back on and feel even more fed up!

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 23/07/2016 07:54

have not rtwt, but just weighed myself - I have lost a stone in 8 weeks. (In fact it was 7 weeks) but I seem tot have plateaued this week and not lost any more. ( from 11 stone to 10 stone)
Not saying this to boast or crow, but hope may help others - I would not have believe possible.
I stopped drinking completely - was drinking a bottle of wine a night, and so despite eating heathily had piled on weight over the winter - none of my summer dresses fitted and shorts trousers had overhang..
Cut out most carbs ( had to put a few carbs in because I was at one point literally too weak to think). Was not able to exercise much. ironically when I was able to exercise, last week and this, weight loss seems to have stopped Confused
The thing that kep me motivated in the first weeks was not wight loss as could not see that, but waist measurement, as that noticeably diminished - from 35.5 ish down to 30 ( ie so that tape can still move freely round). Intend now to keep my 'skinny' dress permanently hanging on the bathroom and try on once a week...
Ideally need to lose another 7 pounds to get down to 9 1/2 which was my previous 'normal' weight.

MrBoot · 23/07/2016 08:56

I had a roughneck and ate and ate. I it up five pounds in a week!!!

Current weight 9st 11pds
Target 8 st 7 pds

Back on track starting today. Doing the 5:2 and today is fast day. Starting agsin. Wish me luck.

MrBoot · 23/07/2016 08:57
  • rough neck should be tough week - silly phone!
geeup · 23/07/2016 09:05

Keep going mum. I'm still here too but have had an op so can't do any exercise at the moment. From Monday I'm hoping I can try so walking and lengthen it out each day and I've ordered some soups to try and keep my cals down while bed/sofa ridden.
It's never to late. Maybe trying changing things up - if your body has got used to cycling, could you try an exercise class at a local gym or on YouTube at your telly at home or a DVD (loads in charity shops)? Make sure you throw in some weight work - even if just some press ups and tri dips - as building muscle makes you lose weight more quickly (the more muscle you have, the more cals you burn at a resulting rate).
Keep it up - I'm with you!

flowerpotfairy · 26/07/2016 16:49

Oh dear, has this thread died? I just came on to boast...had my measurements done today, since 1st June I've lost 1st 5lb, 7% of my body fat and 18.25 inches including 4.5 from my hips, 3 from my tummy and 3 from my waist!! I'm still going though, want to lose another 10lb.

hope everyone is doing ok!!

SimonNeilshair · 27/07/2016 10:13

Wow! well done flowerpot that's an amazing result. I bet it's really obvious to other people how well you've done ⭐

Well I returned from holiday yesterday and managed to lose 1.4lb which is amazing! I tried really hard to keep active, walking the dog, playing Frisbee on the beach etc I tried to avoid bread and chose salads when eating out so I'm glad it paid off Smile (I did allow myself one cream tea though Grin)

Need to keep on it now, but I'm motivated to lose a couple more lbs before my SiL's wedding in 2 weeks

geeup · 27/07/2016 17:58

Well done flowerpot and Simon. Really good work. Let's not let the thread die even if we're not super frequent posters. I'm back trying again after not being well so I'll keep checking in!

flowerpotfairy · 27/07/2016 19:40

Simon, that is an amazing achievement! It'll be falling off you now you're not on holiday!! Gee, hope you feel better now. Had dominos and wine last night to celebrate my weight loss so back on it today massively.

Well done Simon and Flower! Especially losing weight whilst on holiday - that's brilliantly!

My weight loss has completely stopped but I do seem to be getting thinner. (I think!) So I think I might be gaining muscle. (Hopefully!) I am exercising every day - yesterday I cycled 12 miles in total (2 to work, 2 from work and then 8 in the evening) plus went for a little walk at lunchtime.

I did measure my waist on Saturday (32.5 inches with tape still lose enough to go round) so I'll be keeping an eye on that. Apparently it shouldn't be above 31.5 inches. I think I'll aim for 30 inches. That sounds reasonably achievable I think.

SimonNeilshair · 28/07/2016 11:18

Good idea to take measurements mum

I just got back from a run, and about to have a smoothy bowl for brekkie. I'm feeling really motivated and energised today 👏

SittingBull1 · 28/07/2016 12:02

One tip I've found useful is to use smaller dinner plates and wine glasses*. They might seem too small at first, but it's just a matter of what you're used to. The standard size of dinner plates and wine glasses used to be much smaller in days when most people did much more physical work and walking. Our current plate sizes and glass sizes are simply too big which means that we have to exercise even more to use up the extra calories. These seems like small changes but in the long-term they have an effect.

*Wine glass sizes:
standard/domestic 125
large/rare/cost-effective 150
not an option 175

SimonNeilshair · 01/08/2016 09:55

Weigh day for me today, I've lost 1.8lb this week. So happy with that. I'm going to carry on with what I've been doing and hopefully it will keep coming off.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

MrsGuyOfGisbo · 02/08/2016 06:52

Well done all!
Re the tape measure, I find that this motivates me far better than the weight loss as it translates into actual clothes I can now wear again Grin. I measure when I get up in the morning as that gives the best reading and is most motivational.
Waist has now gone down from 35 1/2 to 29 1/2 the weight from 10stone 10 is to 9 stone 9 .
I want to get down to 9 stone7, and the waist to a reliable 29 but what I really want is to lose the remaining pouch of fat around my stomach, which I estimate is about those 3 1bs....

geeup · 07/08/2016 15:37

Hi all. I haven't been trying not at all and feel bad when you lot are trying so hard so am going to come off this thread till I am ready to make more of an effort. Works just got so hectic and the ttc stuff is getting on top of me. Am still eating healthily but the exercise has gone out the window. Good luck - you're doing amazingly!
