I'm 11 stone! The heaviest I've ever been and would like to be 9.5, but a more realistic goal is 10.

I've put on due to multiple rounds of IVF and being banned from exercise.

I'd like to control my portion sizes, have a few less treats (avoid stress rating) and move a bit more (maybe low impact exercise rather than previous hill running which I'm banned from).

I'll also be using my fitbit to track activity vs calories.

Anyone care to join for motivation and support?

Dh is doing the diet with me and he's just said shall we have a cheat day? (we do have one a week...pizza last week was incredible haha) Sorry for being dim but what is MFP?

QuimReaper · 05/07/2016 13:09

flower MFP is an app called My Fitness Pal, it's basically a database of all known foods and their calorie content, so a brilliant way of tracking your calorie intake. You can also enter your exercise for calories in v. calories out and it gives you charts and stuff.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 05/07/2016 14:56

I ended up getting really miserable doing LCHF - it took me a long time to be able to eat mayo again after that, I was sick of the stuff! I've found that it's left me much more able to manage my carb intake though. I eat normally, but the carbs I do have are whole grains and veg, with very little in the way of white or refined carbs, so that's one good thing that's come of it!

geeup · 05/07/2016 16:13

Quim thank you for the nudge - I hadn't gone at lunch (blaming a conf call) but saw your message and went just now so thank you for the support! Burnt 320 cals so means I actually have enough for dinner LOL.
Anyone else need a virtual kick up the behind? Together I feel like I might actually just lose a bit!

flowerpotfairy · 05/07/2016 16:57

Thanks Quim, probably not much point for me as I'm doing low carb and not worrying about cals. Although if i slip off the wagon i will have a look! Well done gee, enjoy your dinner!!

flowerpotfairy · 05/07/2016 16:58

Oh and Beauty, I say I'm doing low carb but really it's mostly the refined stuff so not super strict 😉

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 05/07/2016 18:06

Works for me, flower! I know I always end up failing when a diet cuts out major food groups. Calorie counting seems to work for me, I can eat most of the things I like and all I really have to be mindful of is portion control.

Sloachie · 05/07/2016 18:15

I think I will try and reduce the carbs but still stick with calorie counting...

Pasta is going to be the hardest thing to reduce as we love it! Anyone got tasty low carb packed lunch ideas that I can take to work?

geeup · 05/07/2016 18:28

Sloachie I can't believe I'm going to say this as I'm no Hemsley sister but have you tried courgetti? I have replaced pasta in the evenings with it and even my big rugby player husband doesn't mind. We have it with bolognaise, prawn and tomatoes, curries etc. As long as you have enough protein you won't be hungry. Worth a shot?

SimonNeilshair · 05/07/2016 20:23

Well I've ballsed up tonight after an argument with dh and a difficult bedtime with ds. I've eaten every bit of chocolate in the house and now I'm on the wine. Why do I let these issues affect my eating? Angry

QuimReaper · 05/07/2016 22:45

Oh my GOD!

I bit the bullet and weighed myself in Boots since I was there anyway and in spite of my insanely indulgent weekend I've LOST 3lbs since last Monday!

I was so dreading seeing an increase, it was such a relief!

5 to go! Hoping when I weigh on Thursday morning I'll break new ground and see the 55s for the first time in about four years Grin

QuimReaper · 05/07/2016 22:47

gee I'm delighted my prompt worked for you, let me know next time you need a PE teacher! Grin

Simon I do that too. Just be kind to yourself and put it behind you. I try to fix in my mind how much worse I feel when I self-medicate with calories, but it doesn't always work so don't beat yourself up too much Flowers

QuimReaper · 05/07/2016 22:57

flowerpot yes, probably not much good for you, although it does have other nutritional info as well if you're wondering about the carb content of a certain food, so could be useful if you're trying to stick to under 20g per day for example.

I don't find I use it any more because I tend to either be carefully counting calories, in which case I know what I can eat, or not counting them at all as with tonight's dinner consisting of halloumi, bacon and avocado, I,e. I just knew it was going to be calorific so I needed to keep my portion pretty modest.

SimonNeilshair · 06/07/2016 09:58

Well done quim that's great! I know that feeling if relief, it just goes to show we can indulge ourselves occasionally and not completely ruin things.

I'm back in the zone today after yesterday's emotional eating binge. Just has poached eggs on toast for breakfast I'm going to go for a run later too

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 06/07/2016 10:23

Well done Quim! What a relief for you :) I often find I lose weight after a bit of a blowout though - it's like it kickstarts something in my body, a bit like carb loading on a low carb diet does.

I'm still resisting weighing myself every day - it's just not worth the inevitable guilt!

flowerpotfairy · 06/07/2016 10:26

That's amazing Quim!! Simon, try not to worry, I think we all have days like that. I tend to eat out of boredom/loneliness when the kids are in bed and dh is still at work, I'm trying to make an effort to do something instead like read or colour or even better a bit of exercise. Keep up the good work!!

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 10:54

Thanks guys Grin

I am so pleased, I've only really lost weight by being really careful, and it's felt at times like even the tiniest deviation from diet can throw things off course and like one evening of fun needs four days of starvation to recover from.

I was wondering that too Beauty I wonder what it is. Something to do with metabolism no doubt. I remember reading about a deeply frightening diet called 2-4-6-8, where you eat 200 calories on Monday, 400 on Tuesday etc. Supposed to be more effective than eating the same low number of cals each day, because it keeps your metabolism going. Never tried it though, obviously!

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 06/07/2016 11:02

I remember reading about a deeply frightening diet Grin

But seriously, that diet sounds balls - how could anyone sustain that?! Maybe if you're not trying to feed a whole family - that's the hardest aspect of dieting for me, seeing all the kids' leftovers (I hate waste), and still trying to stay on track. If I was only cooking for me, it might be a bit easier and I love chicken nuggets.

I get the tiny deviation thing too, but I reckon that's mostly psychological - you feel like if you're not always being 'good', you're then sabotaging the weight loss you've worked so hard at, especially if you weigh yourself at the wrong time and it looks like you've gained!

geeup · 06/07/2016 13:00

Hi ladies.
Simon did you get out on your run? Go for it! You'll feel great for it.
I just went to the gym and burnt 400 cals on the treadmill. Hoping that'll offset having lunch out with my team and dinner out with a friend - will try and make healthy choices!
Anyone know what's low cal at carluccios?!

Sloachie · 06/07/2016 16:52

Gee - I've not tried courgetti, no but I will! I like cauliflower rice but unfortunately just like Beauty I find dieting and feeding everyone else hard! DS will barely eat anything never mind veg.

But I will try it! And they will try it. Who knows they may even like it!!
Have to admit I've done rubbish today, I've just eaten crap all day. Blush need to get a grip!

flowerpotfairy · 06/07/2016 17:17

What's everyone having for tea? Need some inspiration to stop me ordering take away while dh at work!! Gee...carluccios has an online menu which i have a feeling has the calories on (or I'm pretty sure they are on the deliveroo website?!)

flowerpotfairy · 06/07/2016 17:19

Sorry, just checked and they don't. Must have been another menu i was teasing myself with Blush

MrBoot · 06/07/2016 17:28

Can I join please? I'm 9st 8, 5 ft nothing and would love to drop a size. Tried low carving but it wasn't sustainable. Tried a high protein diet and it did terrible things to my bidy. Today is my first day back on 5:2 (250 Cals left for the rest of the day and I am starving).

I have a habit of pigging out at night, for the last few nights I have eaten 12 cream crackers with butter every night. I feel like such a big frump. I just don't know how to kill the cravings.

MrBoot · 06/07/2016 17:31

A size = a stone
Bidy = body
