I'm 11 stone! The heaviest I've ever been and would like to be 9.5, but a more realistic goal is 10.

I've put on due to multiple rounds of IVF and being banned from exercise.

I'd like to control my portion sizes, have a few less treats (avoid stress rating) and move a bit more (maybe low impact exercise rather than previous hill running which I'm banned from).

I'll also be using my fitbit to track activity vs calories.

Anyone care to join for motivation and support?

Sloachie - I don't have any kids yet but is it worth trying mixing half spaghetti and half courgetti - once it's covered in sauce, DS might not mind/notice and halves the cals for you. Appreciate it sounds unlikely though. Otherwise you might have to be incredibly strong willed and make the pasta for everyone else who is lucky not dieting, and then just do courgetti/cauliflower rice for you?

geeup · 06/07/2016 17:43

Welcome mrboot

geeup · 06/07/2016 17:45

Flowerpot - thanks for trying! MFP says I have 520 cals left for the day so hoping they have at least one option like pizza express...

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 06/07/2016 18:50

I'm having BBQ pulled chicken and salad tonight - I cut back during the day so I could have it and still stay around the 1200cal mark. It looks very sad without spicy wedges though! I had a spicy squash and tomato soup from the Davina Smart Carbs book for lunch, and that was lovely.

flowerpotfairy · 06/07/2016 18:58

That sounds delish beauty. I've not had anything today apart from a whole pack of celery! Waiting for dh to get home and we will have burger and salad (minus the bun) i miss bread!!!

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 19:01

geeup Carluccio's has steaks which you could have with a side salad?

I think you're mad to go to Carluccio's at all and try and control your calories though, it's my favourite indulgence Grin

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 19:04

I clocked 17km on Map My Walk today! Actually I think it was a bit more, because I paused MMW when I went to the loo and didn't realise I'd forgotten to resume it until I was quite a way away, and it just does an "as the crow flies" point-to-point distance when you do that.

I think it was quite a good workout though because halfway through I got sucked into the Habitat sale and ended up lugging an insanely heavy bag for sodding miles Grin

SimonNeilshair · 06/07/2016 19:53

Sounds like everyone is having a good day. geeup good luck finding something low calorie at Carluccios!

Quim! That's an amazing distance, was it an intentional walk you went on or just pootling around?

Well I didn't get round to my run, spent all day sat at the table doing college work instead. I will definitely go first thing after dropping ds at pre school

8FencingWire · 06/07/2016 20:19

I went into town and walked around from 9.30 till 1.30, with a little break for some sushi.
I've been drinking water the whole day!
I've just finished day 3 of beginners shred.
I'm not hungry, I had a cheese sandwich with rocket for dinner. MFP says I've eaten 444 cals today. I'm genuinely not hungry, so I won't make myself eat.
Tomorrow I plan to do day 4 and a run :) and have some boiled eggs with mustard.

geeup · 06/07/2016 20:31

Well I had the seafood linguine and sparkling water. Apparently MFP says that's 507 calories (tasted about 1000 and dripping with oil but who am I to challenge the master?!!) so I've managed to stay within my limit. Woo hoo. Let's keep this up ladies and well lose those dratted stones!

geeup · 06/07/2016 20:33

Ps flowerpot - a pack of celery does not sound like enough - you must be ravenous! Did you just not fancy anything? Apparently it's better for weight loss to eat something - especially protein. Hope you have a lovely dinner at least!

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 06/07/2016 20:37

Seafood linguine... drool! Bloody love Carluccio's.

flowerpotfairy · 06/07/2016 20:41

Just not too hungry. Would rather wait and eat with hubby although realise not eating all day is silly. I have just poured a g and t after getting kids to bed though 😲
You're meal sounds lovely and even if it was slightly more cals its worth it for a nice night 😊
Think I'm going to get a fitbit to see how far I'm walking as i walk all day at work (with a baby strapped on!) so would be interesting...although 17km sounds a lottt quim

MrBoot · 06/07/2016 21:08

My goal today for cals is 500 (5:2) and I have clicked 521 so far. I am trying to get back into jogging so went out for half an hour jobbing/walking alternatively for about 4.5KM. I'm in awe of poster who said they did over 17KM today. Surely weight will fall off with that much walking?

Now is the hardest part of my day. Kids in bed, time for me to sit down with a cuppa. I usually eat a whole pack of biscuits at this time so am desperate to break this habit but what can I have with my cuppa?

SimonNeilshair · 06/07/2016 21:13

if you find something to have with your cuppa Boot do tell, I've just had a bowl of granola but i expect that is no better than biscuits

MrBoot · 06/07/2016 21:28

Good grief, I apologise for all my typos in previous posts. I was lying in an awkward position on my child's single bed waiting for said child to fall asleep.

I know a a solero is 90 cals. but I want texture and I don't really want 90 cals. Rich tea biscuits are ok but I can't stop at one, or two, or three. I eat the whole packet which is why I need to just stop buying them. The couple of squares of dark chocolate doesn't satisfy my cravings AT ALL. I made some home made biscuits yesterday and after carefully packing them away in tubberware containers, I'm not sure why I bothered as I devoured the whole lot of them. Do you think I have an eating disorder? I'm told a friend that I can easily eat a pack of biscuits and she was genuinely shocked.

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 22:08

Thanks flowerpot and Nelson Was a bit of both (intended / pootling): I walked to my hospital appointment this afternoon (about 4.5k) and then intended to go for a pootle around the shops, and I didn't pause MapMyWalk when I went into them, but I walked home the looooong way through the park, so some of it was just wafting around Habitat.

I've fallen off the wagon a bit this evening - was making DP this pitta thingy for his lunch tomorrow and I had a bit of a mishap with a pitta bread which had torn and so couldn't possibly be stuffed and simply had to be consumed with some huge swathes of hummus Blush Why must hummus be so damn calorific?!

I must remember not to prepare tempting food which I'm not allowed in the evenings! Never so tempting first thing in the morning.

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 22:13

gee I am so jealous of your linguine, and impressed at you for sticking to sparkling water!

MrBoot it might be helpful for you to buy those little individual packets of biscuits like you get in hotels, or maybe (a tip I picked up from another thread) mini Ritter Sport chocolate bars which are only about 100 cals. Haven't tried them but they're supposed to be nice!

I think when people have no "off button" there is a sort of psychological need to eat an entire packet / portion or something. I really blame parents who force children to finish everything on their plate - it's a good skill to be able to say "I've had enough", and we should teach it to children. Not presuming your parents were like that but I know it's a psychological blocker for some people.

QuimReaper · 06/07/2016 22:14

Alternatively, instead of the tea you could look into Options hot chocolate sachets. They're gorgeous and they're something mad like 36 calories!

MrBoot · 07/07/2016 00:05

I ate some raspberries. I am already looking forward to a granola slice tomorrow!

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 07/07/2016 09:29

I had a bit of a mishap with a pitta bread which had torn and so couldn't possibly be stuffed and simply had to be consumed with some huge swathes of hummus

This happened to me last night! There was a lonely tortilla wrap in the bread bin, and it looked so sad. I gave it a dignified send off with the last of the smoked paprika hummus I made the other day Grin

Back on it today. I'm trying really, really hard not to obsess, but sometimes I find myself stressing over eating more calories than I should be and I end up getting anxious over it. Unhealthy I know!

flowerpotfairy · 07/07/2016 10:03

MrBoot, i can do that with a pack of biscuits too Blush I'm just not having any in the house otherwise i know I'd give in!!

QuimReaper · 07/07/2016 10:38

MrsBoots raspberries were an excellent shout, impressive!

You could prepare some strawberries dipped in yoghurt or melted chocolate and freeze them for future cravings?

MrBoot · 07/07/2016 10:39

It is a terrible thing Flower isn't it?

I remember, years ago, hearing of a very obese neighbour who would buy and eat six donuts. I was aghast. Nowadays I could eat twelve. There was a time a quarter tin of Pringles would make me physically ill, now I can eat the whole tin. I don't know what changed but it is like a disorder.

My friend was actually in disbelief st the idea of someone eating an entire pack of biscuits, She called it 'greedy'.
Mi also remember chatting to colleagues and being too embarrassed to tell them I could eat an entire pizza, the size it took three of them to eat. But again I remember going to pizza express and only managing to eat half a pizza for years.

I'm not sure what happened. Could it be from eating bigger portions at home over time?

justjuanmorebeer · 07/07/2016 12:39

I'm still doing well with my food but because I am a bloody idiot and having a shit time at work my friend came round last night and we drank a lot of aperol spritzes. Doh. Feel crap today and bloated but day 1 of period so that figures.
Going to not drink at all over the weekend.

Only 11 days until my holiday!
