If you've poked your head around the door of this thread then please read ourOld Thread, read all the posts, all the links and the links within links and then jump in with both feet to a new, better Way Of Eating (WOE)

Roll Up, Roll Up for the all new, amazing thread for those of us who are trying to eat good, healthy, natural foods while counting our calories and eating LOADS!

We had some brilliant successes on the last thread - inches AND pounds lost and lots of people feeling happier, calmer and more focussed on their goals.

Remember that this is NOT a DIET, it is a healthy way of eating. You will NOT lose 5lbs a week - you might even GAIN weight in the first weeks!

Welcome back Shirl!
I've had a self-imposed MN ban recently but wanted to drop in and say some great healthy sugar free recipes here.
Just had banana walnut oatmeal and it was delicious.

I'm going to take the plunge and order protein powder (prob from that site as it's sugar free). I need to get more protein in without the extra calories.

I've been pretty much eating TDEE still, but it's time to take another plunge and drop the 15%. Not sure how you decide when the time has come, but it's been a good few weeks and I'm tired of the spare tyre - want to shrink it now not nurture it!

Hi Shirl! Welcome back.

Not sure either Shotgun as I have always used tdee -15%. Tbh I always eat above bmr, but rarely above tdee. I have 500cals between the two, so if exercise is more than 500 I try to make sure I am in bmr. Though, I am now low carbing and in fat burning mode, so not so hungry.

Wayhay Shotgun! Try the cut and see how you get on. Have you lost any inches or anything while eating your TDEE?

Hi quirky.

Day two of being back in the saddle and I'm hitting Bodypump tonight. I'm dreading it!

Er no losses of any kind to report, sadly.
I quickly gained about 4 pounds, then have been see-sawing up and down a pound or two at a time. DH keeps feeding me wine, which doesn't help.
Need to be consistent with exercise - ignore the aches and pains and focus on the result. And not be a lazy cow.

I cringe when mfp broadcasts my paltry '100 cals burnt in 20 mins' walking) - next to your '80 million burnt taebo-pumping followed by combat spin.' Grin.

Heh. I could have wept myself last night. Sad Bloody hell that was hard.

I do know that the old booze doesn't help my weight one iota. I think it's my age.

Just popping in quickly. I'm well jeal of all these mega inch-losses. I've lost 7lb, fairly sure all fat, and some inches, but no idea how many since I didn't measure beforehand Hmm. I can see the difference, though, and it's nice not to want to break the mirror daily.

Now off to burn a million cals wrestling ds2 into bed Hmm

uh-oh. Well over a month since i logged in on mfp.
and since i even gave a thought to what i eat (ish).

But i have only put on 3-4 lbs which is not bad for me!!

I have an interview (first job other than my one evening a week one since having dd 9 years ago) next week and I was a bit sad to still have to buy size 16 clothes but on the other hand I was NEVER going to fit into my 10 years ago interview stuff. I was 23 and size 10 Envy.

How is everyone? I miss this thread but was a bit ashamed.....

Hello!

I would like to join in (am not sure how active this thread is). I have read all of this thread and the last as well as the MFP group stickies. It mostly makes sense to me. I have spent years going up and down on slimming world but since being pregnant and having my baby 5 months ago, I have pretty much eaten what I want. Because of this, I don't think I have to do reset and can just go straight into TDEE - 15%?

I have a couple of questions...I have selected moderately active on the scooby calculator as I do one personal training session (running and circuits) a week and 3-4 30 day shreds (level 1) a week.

Should I log my workouts on MFP and ignore that it asks me to eat extra unless I do an out of the ordinary big burn?

I am BF my 5 month old baby at the moment - I selected Breastfeeding from the food list on MFP and it gave me an extra 400 cals (she has one 4 oz bottle of formula a day so i didn't select the 500 cal option). Do I need to eat this extra 400 cals? I am frightened that that adds up to make my TDEE - 15% to nearly 2500 cals. Seems a lot( I know that is the point of this WOE...).

Thanks for any advice in advance...

I log (and eat) specific workouts, and definitely PT sessions. I dont' log bog standard running after the kids, or school runs. Although I was dubious after spending 20 mins running behind DS1 when he was learning to ride off road downhill. tHink that probably should have counted. Not sure about bf'ing, but I eat 1900 cals/day and lose weight, so 2500 sounds OK. tbh if not, you're unlikely to put on, just not lose. If after a few weeks there no inch or weight change, knock a few cals off.

Haven't checked in in ages. But weighed in this morning and have lost 10lbs since July. So that's 28lbs total since June - all on 1800 cals. Very happy. I've recalculated on Scooby and will still stick to 1800 cals as I want to do a bit more exercise.

Hi, I'm new to this thread! I am trying to lose some vanity pounds, and have been sticking to 1200 calories per day for the past few weeks. I lost about half a stone, but weight loss is stalling, and I feel sluggish, weak, and moody, which I recognise as meaning that my body needs more food (BMI about 19.3).

The scooby calculator tells me my BMR is 1337, and I should eat 1555 calories per day to lose a pound per week (25% calorie cut from TDEE). Should I start eating this amount now, or gradually build up to it, maybe trying 1300-1350 for a week, then 1400, then 1450, and so on? It seems like a lot for me to be eating and still be losing weight...

BsshBossh · 23/11/2012 20:48

I would just go straight up to 1555 cals and see what happens. Your body may put on a few pounds but stick with it and they should come back off. Good luck!

Oo I've just done a speshul search for this. Just had my gallbladder out so I'm no longer anxious about setting that off. Didn't hold back over Christmas though - 5lbs added on.
I'll join you, Maryz.
