Bootcamp Week 9 - wherein I may have to resort to the cat o' nine tails ...

I'm starting this thread early as I'm off to Athens tomorrow, and will be leaving at sparrows fart. (It's mainly for work, although I have a day off on Thursday)

I think we're now a band of mainly hardcore low carbers, although we continue to attract new followers - welcome to you all!

Hopefully, the longer termers will be finding it much easier to follow this WOE and food choices are more automatic. Although I have noticed lots of references to cheesecake and crumble which just will not do if you're wanting the pounds to shift

Let me know how you're all doing - and any tips to share for those for whom the weight loss has slowed down.

GreenEyesAndHam · 10/06/2012 10:36

It's like you see on perfume ads isn't it?

Paris ? Rome ? Athens ? Bradford ? Luton ? Watford

Going to Bootcamp it up a bit this week I think, cos it's another STS today. Really want to get another 4lb ish off and see how I feel then.

Heartstart · 10/06/2012 10:41

Green eyes either perfume or a world tour once biwi has written the book

marking place, no exciting trips here Envy

WillieWaggledagger · 10/06/2012 12:12

i was going to be going to boston (usa) this week, but no longer.

went to dp's parents' for dinner last night, his mum is all about the low fat (lots of comments about 'cream is fattening for us girlies' ) and they put bloody sugar on the strawberries served for pudding! on all of them not just for people to put it on their own! i didn't quite realise until i had eaten them and someone mentioned it, so hopefully it wasn't very much and hasn't done too much damage.

NigellasGuest · 10/06/2012 13:10

I am taking a trip to the bottom of the garden and back - top that!

williewaggle I think the most annoying part of that story must be the reference to "us girlies" gggrrrrr!!

BIWI referring back to last thread - no - I am NOT pregnant (DH has had snip)!! also I have dropped the dairy for the last few days which has coincided with the nausea. But that's just coincidence. I think it's to do with TOM and all that stuff, so will continue to monitor. No nausea today, but quite simply NOT HUNGRY. Have not even had breakfast yet because don't want to eat when not hungry. Assuming I'm not in "starvation mode" because of the lack of hunger.

Re. hardcore - I've only up to my 3rd weigh in (which is tomorrow) but I feel pretty hardcore, hoping I can join hardcore gang

MNP · 10/06/2012 14:41

Considering how bloomin quick the weight goes on it surely does come of at a snails pace.

L:own caught seabass steak with a reduced Tom and basil sauce with baby corn
D:slow roasted pork belly strips with buttered cauliflower

smokinaces · 10/06/2012 14:49

Afternoon all. Had loads of compliments in the last few days so feeling upbeat. Hoping tomorrow am weigh in breaks the bmi 25 barrier.

I've been explaining when people ask that I've cut out sugar and starch. This seems to go down better than saying carbs.

ohforfoxsake · 10/06/2012 16:41

I am not a hardcore low carber, but I am clinging onto this thread by my chipped fingernails. The two weeks of half-term saw off any notion of low carbing (healthy eating in general), so here I am. Handing myself in, ready to take whatever is thrown at me, and bootcamping as of tomorrow. I am here for the longhaul, even if that means I take a (massive) diversion on the journey.

I have put on half of what I lost in the first 6/7 weeks. Am still under the 12 stone mark (hopefully this is still the case) but I am still better off than before I started. I am still full of hope. There may even be a flicker of determination there.

sybilfaulty · 10/06/2012 19:47

Please may I join? I am a big fat heifer who needs to lose a few stone. I have done Dukan before but could not cope with the lack of proper veggies. I have been reading Neris and India and hope to start in the morning.

A couple of Qs - is all the water ok for your kidneys and won't dilute all your salts to a dangerous level? I've also tended towrads low fat before so eating cheese etc on a diet will be odd. It is still healthy though, isn't it?

Looking forward to joining you and kicking the lard into touch Smile.

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/06/2012 20:39

Marking place on new thread. I am ready to go tomorrow. Do I need to tell you my starting weight to shame me into action?!?

BIWItheBold · 10/06/2012 20:52

MrsHP - if you don't want to 'confess' you can index your weight. Your startpoint is therefore 100, and every pound you lose is one point down.

Welcome, sybil! I'm not a fan of Dukan because I think the diet is too focused on artificial ingredients, whereas in Bootcamp we try and eat only pure/natural/unprocessed stuff.

Water is definitely OK. It is possible that you can deplete your salts, in which case, eat more potassium (avocado/Lo Salt), but it's not harmful.

And whatever you do, don't try and eat low fat. It will not work. Cheese is OK, but be careful with it - some people find that they have issues with dairy.

And lard is very good!

Drat. I just realised that I forgot (again) to start the new thread with a disclaimer. Please read and digest the following:

I AM NOT A DOCTOR. I HAVE NO MEDICAL TRAINING. NOR AM I A NUTRITIONIST OR A DIETICIAN. THE VIEWS AND ADVICE THAT IS EXPRESSED HERE AND ON ALL OTHER BOOTCAMP THREADS IS BASED ON MY OPINIONS, WHICH IN TURN ARE BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE OF LOW CARBING AS WELL AS READING I HAVE DONE ON THE SUBJECT. IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS OR TAKE REGULAR MEDICATION OR ARE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT HOW SAFE LOW CARBING WILL BE FOR YOU, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR GP

moonshine dont give up, I'm sure things will start to happen soon x

Big hello to the newbies, hope you love this WOE as much as I do

SingingTunelessly · 10/06/2012 21:17

Thank you mummyduff, I am wearing a pair of shorts today that were a bit tight when we had that gorgeous weather the other week but today - they are loose! Hurrah!

Snort at BIWI's disclaimer. We don't care about your qualifications cuz you is our guru right. Thanks and kisses. Grin

Seriously though BIWI, without your thread I would still be chowing down on wholegrain bread and pasta, low fat this and that, undressed salads, etc., miserable, bored and fat. So a big (slightly less fat) THANK YOU. More Thanks

BIWItheBold · 10/06/2012 21:21
Thanks

mummyduff · 10/06/2012 21:47

I second you singingtunelessly re the disclaimer and agree without this thread I would would be a stone heavier, so a big big Thanks to all.

HumphreyCobbler · 10/06/2012 21:50

hello - can I come in?

I am very keen to lose weight, totally believe that low carb is the best way to eat, and until I became pregnant was the thinnest I had every been. Sadly I had a miscarriage at twelve weeks, which was awful, but I put on about a stone and a half during this time. I am still at lease nine pounds over and I really really want to shift it. I have a wedding to go to Shock and I want to be thin....

HumphreyCobbler · 10/06/2012 21:51

god sorry, way too much information there Blush

smokinaces · 10/06/2012 22:20

Oh Humphrey so sorry to hear about your miscarriage :-(

GreenEyesAndHam · 10/06/2012 22:25

Just dropping in to say hi to all the newbies Smile

And Humphrey, sorry to hear about your miscarriage xx

HumphreyCobbler · 10/06/2012 22:33

thanks everyone

am starting properly tomorrow, and am going to do 30 day shred as well - this has worked brilliantly for me before. I know that if I can only get into the zone all will be well. My weight tonight is 9 stone 9 (I am VERY short, so that really is heavy for me).

I have lurked on your threads a bit, and also been very impressed with articulate manner in which you defend low carbing to the sceptical!
