I'm starting this thread early as I'm off to Athens tomorrow, and will be leaving at sparrows fart. (It's mainly for work, although I have a day off on Thursday)

I think we're now a band of mainly hardcore low carbers, although we continue to attract new followers - welcome to you all!

Hopefully, the longer termers will be finding it much easier to follow this WOE and food choices are more automatic. Although I have noticed lots of references to cheesecake and crumble which just will not do if you're wanting the pounds to shift

Let me know how you're all doing - and any tips to share for those for whom the weight loss has slowed down.

Well done, MrsHP!

Re your DH - definitely do not drink lager, beer or cider as the carbs will be very high. If he's drinking wine, red is better than white, but if he's drinking white make sure it's dry. The best thing to drink, if he likes it, would be vodka and soda - this means that you're not drinking artificial sweeteners either. Otherwise, gin and slimline is his best bet.

sybylfawty: the veg with the best ratio of fibre to carbs is probably celeriac - it has about 6g of fibre and 3g of carbs per 100g. Mushrooms have about 1g of fibre and 0.5g of carbs per 100g so you can eat a lot of them for very few carbs. Avocados have 3.5g fibre and 1.9g carbs per 100g. Make sure you're drinking loads of water too.

All of this of course assumes that fibre is actually good for you and we are designed to go every day. I definitely produce less on this way of eating, presumably because I'm feeding my body less stuff that it doesn't want. Do you actually feel constipated or are you just worried because you normally go every day and don't on this way of eating?

TinTinsSexySister · 17/06/2012 13:33

Week five for me and last three days have been really tough.

Not hungry at all and therefore struggling to tempt self with any food. So sick of tuna mayo, cauliflower, meat of any description and cheese (never thought I'd say that).

Want chip butty and a pint of beer - last time I had a chip butty it was still the '90s Blush

FiddleDeFat · 17/06/2012 13:37

Thats a good point QueenofStromba. In the early days I often thought I was becoming constipated. But now I reckon I just dont need to go as often - there is no junk going into my body, so there is not so much waste product to come out the other end.

BIWItheBold · 17/06/2012 13:38

If you're not hungry you don't have to eat!

And if you're only eating those things, no wonder you're sick of them. If you're sick of cheese, then you've been eating too much of it.

Have a look at the recipe thread for a bit of inspiration. No need to eat the same stuff all the time.

You don't want a chip butty and a pint of beer really. Unless you want to sabotage your efforts so far?

THanks for the help, everyone. I have just troughed a salad (no toms!) with a bit of cheese for lunch and very delicious it was. I looked this morning for celeriac but alas there was none. Wrong time of year I suppose. I will keep under the 3g carb veg and keep going. I just feel rather "heavy" if I don't go. Sorry for TMI.

Have definitely lost my cravings for snacks. Cannot believer I have had no sugar for a week. Result!

Well done on the weightloss Hercule! Great news. Am doing mine in the morning.

Thanks again.

MNP · 17/06/2012 15:38

Sybil even on this WOE I still need to take my "going" meds which considering my veg intake is more and more varied says loads re the issues.

I finely grated a bit of Cheshire cheese into my mayo before adding to leaves, was delish.

TinTinsSexySister · 17/06/2012 16:17

I have been quite varied with the diet - that recipe thread was fab - but prob have eaten too much cheese Sad. I also bought the Low Carb Gourmet and that has been excellent as well. Well worth the £7 on Amazon.

I think the prob is there's not much food in the house & what is here I don't want, eg tuna. Plus it's nearly TOTM which always makes me a bit "can't be bothered" ish.

BIWI you are right I do NOT want chips and beer because I do NOT want to sabotage all I have done so far.

I'm thirsty so will go and have some more water. Onwards and upwards - or should that be downwards?

BIWItheBold · 17/06/2012 17:16

Downwards, of course! Grin

I've been ill for the last week or so (some sort of throat infection) and I've been wavering between not hungry at all and absolutely starving. I spent most of yesterday not being hungry at all and then had dinner and spent the rest of the evening starving. Of course we had bugger all food because I've been ill for a week so I ended up eating all manner of random stuff such as M&S pre cooked bacon used as crisps with sour cream as a dip. Today I only managed to eat half of my breakfast of 4 streaky bacon, 2 eggs and some mushrooms fried in butter. I managed the extra egg a couple of hours later but the bacon is still sitting in the fridge.

BIWItheBold · 17/06/2012 17:45

Oh that doesn't sound good, Queen Sad

How are you feeling now?

londonone · 18/06/2012 00:11

I find that I am not that hungry at lunchtime some days but I know one of the rules is eat three meals a day. I am wondering whether it would have a negative impact to have breakfast and dinner and maybe a small snack on some days. What do you guys think?

jan2011 · 18/06/2012 05:30

london im sure others will be around to have a more experienced answer but i think it is to eat when you are hungry just so snacks would be fine - although for me i have to be careful as if i don't eat enough sometimes it can lead to me overeating later.

i had a look on the recipie thread - those recipies sound amazing! i am going to get some ingredients this week in and make a good effort for dh too as he loves meat. however i am not really a cook and to be honest it scared me a bit - they all sound so complicated! i will stick to the simple things first. and where do you all get the TIME from? !!

sybilfaulty · 18/06/2012 07:07

Morning girls Smile

Am thrilled to report that, despite illegal tomato intake this week, i am 5.5lbs down! Hurray! Am so pleased. Cannot believe how easy it was. Cannot believe how no one noticed I am dieting, which for some reason is very important to me. Am going to start work in a minute feeling light and carefree. Hurray!

Good luck to all weighing in today. Thanks for all the advice and support.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 18/06/2012 07:09

is there a new thread I've missed for this coming week? Confused.

sybilfaulty · 18/06/2012 07:11

Hope everyone who was unwell during the week is now feeling much better, BTW.

BIWItheBold · 18/06/2012 08:26
