I'm starting this thread early as I'm off to Athens tomorrow, and will be leaving at sparrows fart. (It's mainly for work, although I have a day off on Thursday)

I think we're now a band of mainly hardcore low carbers, although we continue to attract new followers - welcome to you all!

Hopefully, the longer termers will be finding it much easier to follow this WOE and food choices are more automatic. Although I have noticed lots of references to cheesecake and crumble which just will not do if you're wanting the pounds to shift

Let me know how you're all doing - and any tips to share for those for whom the weight loss has slowed down.

Humphrey sorry to her about your mc, I also had a mc early this year and put on two stone since then as a result of thinking I was pregnant and then comfort eating. It is rubbish.

Right today is the day - drinking lots of water is the main thing I need to remember today...

sybilfaulty · 11/06/2012 06:52

Thanks for the welcome, girls. Very sorry to hear about the mcs, Humphrey and Hercule. Awful for you. Hope you are now feeling stronger.

Have weighed in - eek! DO I post it here or on the other thread? I reckon I'd like to lose nearly 2 stone and see how that looks. It will make me the thinnest I have been since I was at school 25 years ago when we were weighed during gym classes. Those huge knickers and aertex shirts must have weighed a few stone!

Looking forward to breakfast at work. Smoked salmon beckons if Tesco have some.

Hope we all have a good week Smile

mummyduff · 11/06/2012 08:01

Sorry to hear about your mc HumphreyCobbler Sad

vnmum · 11/06/2012 08:17

welcome newbies Smile, sorry about your mc humphrey

well I am finally in the 9's on official WI day. Its taken bloody long enough Grin, now its onward and hopefully continually downward.

Gym after school run and I might even start adding some form of jillian michaels torture into my weekly routine. I feel the end is in sight now and it has given me an extra boost of motivation

Jacaqueen · 11/06/2012 08:41

Off to school sports day will catch up later.

doradoo · 11/06/2012 08:44

Morning all - fell off the wagon spectactularly at the weekend and am paying for it today..... Up on earlier in the week - but amazing no change from last monday's WI.

Back to BC for me this week.

Good luck all.

HumphreyCobbler · 11/06/2012 08:48

Weighed this morning at two pounds more than yesterday. Even more incentive to keep to the straight and narrow..

I SO need a boot camp Grin

NigellasGuest · 11/06/2012 11:06

Hello to Hercule, Sybil and Humphrey

I'm also doing shred - seems to be working well with this WOE.

BIWI thanks for the ongoing support! And I reckon the disclaimer thingy is a good idea because of random nutters. But I agree that you are at least as knowledgeable as half the dieticians/nutrician "experts" out there....

I've lost another pound - v. happy. Nausea gone today. Am dabbling with the joys of coconut oil - seems to have amazing benefits and is full of good fats and zero carb.

Thanks all for these threads - a great support Thanks Thanks Thanks

moonshine · 11/06/2012 12:23

Marking my place...

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage Humphrey.

BIWI - off abroad again Shock. I'm just jealous as I get to sit in a tower block office in a manky part of one of London's outer boroughs as part of my job.

However I am being wined and dined at a swish lunch for work this week (disclaimer: this is very very rare) so I may have to go off-plan for one meal.

I'm still going to try and do this WOE despite knowing that something is wrong (will go to docs next week).

My trip to Pizza Express was good and bad - good because I had olives for starters and a salad for main, bad because I couldn't resist eating 2 dough sticks and a taste of garlic bread plus had a cappuccino [sweeps aside mention of large glass of wine]. But it could have been so much worse and I think this thread made me mostly make the right choices so thank you all Thanks

And am only up 1 lb, which quite frankly has been coming off and on for the past 3/4 weeks whether I'm strict or not, sigh...

leanbh21 · 11/06/2012 13:47

Just joining. Day 2 :) Thanks for the link from my query thread on AIBU. I didn't know this sections existed (and still can't find it except from the link BIWI posted on the other thread!)

Two quick questions - sugar free chewing gum and Diet Coke. Are they allowed/good or bad idea? I'm thinking I'd be as well to ditch the Coke anyway but I do tend to have gum after meals. Can't find any info on the pack re carbs and quick google brough conflicti answers.

SingingTunelessly · 11/06/2012 14:29

Hi leanbh21, definitely no, no, no to the Diet Coke. Would say no to the chewing gum because of the artificial sweeteners although could be wrong on that one. Isn't chewing gum supposed to hinder weight loss anyway - something to do with preparing the stomach for food which never arrives and ...something .......... am sure I've heard that before.

Humphrey sorry to hear about the mc. Sad

MNP · 11/06/2012 14:31

Oops forgot to weigh today so will update tomorrow.

Welcome thread newbies.

Question re coconut oil, what does it taste like? Do you eat it neat or add to things, hmm pondering swapping oil/butter combo to lard or dripping for frying....opinion Biwi?

SingingTunelessly · 11/06/2012 14:34

Yes I was wondering that as well MNP. I've spotted Almond Butter but not sure if that would have a different use.

Shimbo · 11/06/2012 14:46

I am very sorry to read of the miscarriage Humphrey. Welcome.

I also forgot to weigh today and went off plan yesterday which was a big family event, with a bit of chocolate torte and choc covered berries. But back on today and feeling good, also noticing my waist feels trimmer and possibly looks trimmer too - woohoo! No comments from anyone about it though, booooo!

Hope everyone has a good week. We are off to Cornwall tomorrow for a week, self catering, and I think it is going to be pretty tough to keep to the plan however plan to do my best, if I just manage to lapse on one fish and chips dinner I will be pleased!

I have just bought some coconut flour and some ground flax meal from H&B (they have a buy one, get one half price offer on) for some future lowcarb baking. I was tempted by the coconut oil but it seemed quite expensive!

doradoo · 11/06/2012 15:47

Almond butter you'd use as you would peanut butter - and also in some baking. It's very yummy - but uber pricey I find!

My local healthfood shop (germany) does a whole range of different 'nut butters' but they're really very expensive.

SharonGless · 11/06/2012 16:26

Quick question DH has just linked http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/dieting-craze-blamed-for-cholesterol-surge-in-sweden-7836468.html this

Any evidence that I can refute this? Still at work but hoping one of my LC friends can help

mummyduff · 11/06/2012 16:27

Hi All

Work 1st thing today followed by 1hr 30mins at the gym and then back to work
B- boiled egg
L-mexican chicken salad
D- home made chilli burgers and salad

Lots of water, as you can tell I am back to bootcamp, as girlie break to Turkey is now only 12 days away and my bikini is callingSmile

mummyduff · 11/06/2012 16:36

SharonGless I recently had a conversation with my cardiologist re my diet, as have just been diagnosed with an hereditary form of Cardiomyopathy.

He said my diet was fine, I have to be a little careful how much fat I have, but I just don't have lots of cheese, cream etc.

I still use butter and cook lots of the fattier meat joints. Smile

SharonGless · 11/06/2012 16:44

DH Has history of heart disease in family brother, dad and grandad have all had heart attacks. His brother was only 37 when had his but has survived. DH obviously conditioned to believe fat is bad makes it difficult when cooking. This study obviously just reinforces his belief

mummyduff · 11/06/2012 16:53

I bet it did and to be honest it is what has been drummed into all of us for years.
I did read the article it was interesting what people had written underneathSmile

PostBellumBugsy · 11/06/2012 16:54

Marking place too & adding thanks to BIWI for keeping us all going.

Welcome newbies. This is a great way of eating - can't recommend it enough. Smile

SpringGoddess · 11/06/2012 16:58

Can I join you ladies?

I have been low carbing since January - lost loads of weight and reached my target and maintained for 6 weeks - last week was holiday week and I let my hair down - had carbs with one meal everyday and loads of red wine....am currently suffering from swollen ankles caused by the flight so no point in weighing in till they go down. am too scared anyway

Im a bit worried about getting back on the wagon again - really hoping I have the willpower to stay away from the sugar - I love sugar! Giving up starch is relatively easy for me.

Creamtea1 · 11/06/2012 17:13

Checking in, and wondering quietly if can be classed as original bootcamp (now hardcore LCer) Smile
Off to Nottingham on weds, very slightly exotic..
Hello to all newbies!
