I'm starting this thread early as I'm off to Athens tomorrow, and will be leaving at sparrows fart. (It's mainly for work, although I have a day off on Thursday)

I think we're now a band of mainly hardcore low carbers, although we continue to attract new followers - welcome to you all!

Hopefully, the longer termers will be finding it much easier to follow this WOE and food choices are more automatic. Although I have noticed lots of references to cheesecake and crumble which just will not do if you're wanting the pounds to shift

Let me know how you're all doing - and any tips to share for those for whom the weight loss has slowed down.

Hi Girls! Please may I join too? Have been reading your threads, and you sound like such a lovely supportive bunch! This is my third week of the idiot proof diet, and by the end of week 2 I seemed to be 9lbs down!! Grin am trying hard to resist stepping on the scales this whole week, to avoid the ups and downs and emotional turmoil that goes with them! I haven't strayed yet on this WOE (see, I'm in on the lingo!), but I'm wondering, just how much of a difference does it REALLY make if you do?

mummyduff · 13/06/2012 13:13

Afternoon all and great to see lots of newbies joining us, I also love this WOE and am weighing the least I have in yearsGrin i find it easy to fit into my life also which is great!

Cant wait to see that program on Thursday.

BettySuarez I quite often hard boil eggs at night so if in a rush I can just grab from fridge and eat. Otherwise I'm a mushroom omelette girl.

I also always have a stock of pork scratchings for emergencies and I love them.Smile

mummyduff · 13/06/2012 13:14

mindgone I weigh myself daily as I feel it keeps me on track, but I know everyone is differentWink

Thegoddessblossom · 13/06/2012 13:16

Lunch was salad, roasted courgettes, tuna, beef slice, cucumber and coleslaw, and a lump of cheese. Yum.

MNP · 13/06/2012 13:25

Thanks for the article, I have shared n fb.

Welcome newbies.

Breakfast is medication and 500mls water then an hour later ay be a low carb whey shake or lunch.

I have found the more butter I eat the better the loss.

teaandthorazine · 13/06/2012 14:06

Helloooo hokeycokey and mindgone and welcome!

Bootcamp Recipe Thread here for inspiration

Breakfast was the usual, protein shake, coconut oil, vits, water
Lunch - am tucking into hot smoked salmon with mustard seeds and dill, creamy coleslaw, lettuce, cucumber and some teeny baby tomatoes. More water since I know I've been a bit slack on that front recently.
Dinner - chicken, either roast or with piri-piri seasoning. And mountains of veg - the fridge is beginning to resemble a greengrocer Grin

I weighed myself at work today, just out of interest. My home scales this morning showed me (naked) at about 10st 9. Work scales (fully clothed) had me at 10 st 6! Weirdness...

studyingstudying · 13/06/2012 14:49

Hello,

I am posting in an attempt to keep myself accountable - yesterday afternoon was when I gave in to my sugar cravings, and it is NOT going to happen today :)

mummyduff, I also hardboil eggs and keep them to hand for emergency protein snacking! They are great, very handy.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 13/06/2012 16:18

Well lunch was at Ikea and i had prawn with boiled egg and Mayo - i left the bread.

Dinner was going to be chicken which has been defrosting but i have discovered that it smells rather suspect on my return.

So i am having prawns...not sure what with yet!

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 13/06/2012 16:19

Oh and thanks for the link and the welcome tea

I am also boiling hard boiled eggs as we speak. I think the key for sticking to this with me will be planning and preparing food in advance.

smokinaces · 13/06/2012 16:54

Afternoon.just munched a load of pork scratchings myself. Yum.

Secret eaters tonight at 8pm on ch4 too.

Sadly the sw/ww industry is multimillion pounds and there is no way of going over them I fear now.

SpringGoddess · 13/06/2012 17:35

I tried to watch secret eaters last night on catch up - had to turn it off, they went on and on about how much fat the couple were consuming and not a word about carbs - I just thought same old same old...did it change in the end?

Please add me to the spreadsheet Fiddledefat, there's no hiding from the weekly weigh in.

MNP · 13/06/2012 17:59

Tea I hear u as pre wee I was 214 so .2 down on yesterday and post wee was 214.6, scales hadn't moved!!

MNP · 13/06/2012 18:05

L: cold mini duck breasts with iceberg and baby leaves(spinach, chard, pea) with mayo
D: salmon with broccoli, mini courgette, skinny asparagus and shallot cooked in butter and oil and then dressed in butter

Jins · 13/06/2012 18:06

That's disappointing about Secret Eaters. I'd been thinking it was less anti fat than most of these programmes and I do like the idea of showing people how much they actually eat.

It's funny that they've kept a food diary as well

smokinaces · 13/06/2012 18:21

I heard a lot about calories in the ones I've seen but no real mention of fat - tonights catch up could change that of course.

I just love "I only eat 1500 calories a dat, no idea why I am fat" and then being shown nearer 5000!!!

Peacocklady · 13/06/2012 18:39

Hello I've been low carbing since mon and I too was wondering about quick breakfast ideas as I dont normally eat any. Just reread the rules and realised I'd messed up eating fresh fruit salad and yoghurt in the morning. Sigh. I'd got that idea from watching secret eaters where they seem to be tucking into a huge tub of pre made fruit salad when they are being 'good' at the end. I lost 2 stone about 3 years ago doing low carb and have eaten lots since then and have put about 9 lb back on so not got masses to lose.
Have a pack of minted lamb that didn't end up on the BBQ on sun, was thinking of doing it in a curry with spinach and courgette which involves onion garlic ginger chilli yog and tinned tomatoes, is that too carby? Starving now, going to eat another boiled egg!

mindgone · 13/06/2012 19:39

Mummyduff, do you really think weighing every day helps? I usually do, but thought that I'd save the suspense for a week to see if I like that any better! Don't know if I'm strong willed enough though. Tea, thanks for welcome, and recipe thread! Did the IPD moussaka for tea, and it was loved by all! I had mine with green beans and DH and the boys had potatoes too.

BTW Can we REALLY eat pork scratchings and get away with it? Will have to find some non-hairy ones! Are M&S ones good?

smokinaces · 13/06/2012 19:42

I'm a daily weigher. It keeps me on track.

And yes. I have eaten pork scratchings weekly and have lost a stone. And that's several packets weekly!!!!

leanbh21 · 13/06/2012 19:44

Day 4 here now and I think I'm starting to feel a bit better. Headaches and diziness improved today as did the cravings (though the afternoon school run was MURDER - I usually get through that with a boost bar and a Diet Coke. Today I had a slice of cheddar). Yesterday I would have trampled over a group of toddlers to get to a chocolate bar - well, probably not really, but that's how I felt.

Today it's been;
B: boiled egg mashed with knob of butter and two mushrooms sliced and fried in butter
L: celery with Philidelphia (two stickes left over from yeaterday's prepared snack), another two mushrooms in butter and mini cheddar stick.
S: slice cheddar
D: veggie mince curry and cauliflower 'rice' with sour cream. I really enjoyed this though it totalled 10g of carbs but I was desperate to have a different taste/texture. For the first time I kind of wish I ate meat to get a wider variety of low carb tastes for my protein sources. All the Quorn stuff seems so high :(

leanbh21 · 13/06/2012 19:47

Oh, and does the weeing ever stop??

FiddleDeFat · 13/06/2012 19:57

No, the peeing never stops. I was very tempted to change my name to PiddleDeFat!

mummyduff · 13/06/2012 20:04

mindgone daily weighing really does help me and re the pork scratchings, I eat a few packs a week and have also lost a stoneGrin

Loving this WOE ladies x

smokinaces · 13/06/2012 20:08

I've managed to regulate my peeing so I don't get up at night - but from 7am till 11pm its hourly, or more. If I weren't o viously thinner work would start thinking I'm pregnant

BettySuarez · 13/06/2012 20:27

Please may I have a winge?

I am officially on day 1 (although did make a start yesterday but not 100% effort) and I already feel crap.

I feel shaky, sicky headache, funny vision. I am absolutely not hungry at all but do have a strong feeling of feeling unsatisfied. I do understand why I am feeling this way but can anyone tell me how long this will last?

On a brighter note, I have lost 1.5 pounds already compared to yesterdays weigh-in Grin

winge winge winge!

jan2011 · 13/06/2012 20:33

i think ive made a good start in this WOE but ive picked up a few snacky habits to replace my old snacks. i used to snack on really carby things like fruit and crackers. now i eat those babybels, nuts and the odd time dark chocolate. i guess as long as i don't put on weight im ok with this for now - i just want stability. i need to learn to stop eatingfor emotional reasons.
