BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 07:40

So it's Friday. The start of the Dangerous Days, otherwise known as the weekend.

Can I remind everyone that there is to be no alcohol during bootcamp

Morning! I have declared my sins on the last thread and hopefully everyone will head over here and forget about them like I intend to :)

ledkr · 20/04/2012 07:58

Of course biwi I will be sipping on water during my night out tomorrow.

However,i have turned down the chance to eat tonight and tomorrow in favour of low carb meal at home so i do think thats dedication to the cause.I got up at 6 with babba lark so ive had tea but im going to weigh in now, obviously if ive gained a few pound it will be the tea. Grin

During this whole week i have had easter eggs everywhere and wine gums in the kitchen,do i deserve a round of applause.

Morning all !
Smell of bacon wafting through the house as I type
Yum yum

Very thirsty again this morning maybe am starting on ketosis?

Jacaqueen · 20/04/2012 08:09

Morning all

Had terrible cramp in bed last night. Is that lack of salt or potassium?

Another 1lb off so that makes 7lbs in 4 days.

Not sure what I am eating today. But the fridge is well stocked so I wont starve that's for sure.

smokinaces · 20/04/2012 08:22

Bonjourno troopers!

Thick cut Bacon with mushroom and an oopsie for breakfast. I confess to a smear of low sugar ketchup - not even a tsp. Lunch is broccoli and stilton soup to be reheated (staff room going to hate me) with the second half of my mim. Have got a stinking sore throat though, so drinking even more water than normal - nearly a ltr before I left the house. And still not manage exercise due to family issues meaning I'm on the phone all evening.

No alcohol here. Ds2 wants a popcorn and prawn crackers night in my bed. What can I have to save my picking? Pork scratchings? Nuts? Don't want to fall at this hurdle!!

Gincognito · 20/04/2012 08:25

There's sugar in everything

I've stopped feeling so sick, but I'm worried it's because carbs are creeping in, I mean- look at yesterday (please, someone!):

B: avocado, mozzarella and tom salad with lots of evoo, small coffee with milk
S: tub of shop-bought egg mayo, some brazil nuts
L: green salad with a few cherry toms and waitrose lemon herb chicken pieces
S: waitrose chicken tikka pieces
D#1: two fried eggs and ham
D#2: some panneer and spinach pinched from dh's takeaway Blush

And then in the middle of the night (thanks, ds), a small cube of cheddar.

It's far too much, isn't it :(. And yet I was hungry. I have been drinking gallons of water!

kandinskysgirl · 20/04/2012 08:31

I have put 1lb on not sure why.. It is making me feel slightly like I will never break this stone barrier, however I will not drink tonight!!

BettyBathroom · 20/04/2012 08:33

Gincognito don't think it matters how much you eat before you go into ketosis because once you are in ketosis your appetite will be reduced and you will eat less anyway - so worry not, your food looks v low carb...you'll get there.

ledkr · 20/04/2012 08:34

kandinsky I appear to be the same weight grrrrr. Im gutted but my scales are a bit crap so im hoping its that.I must admit my first thought was "fuck it" but im determined to keep going after sticking to it all week.

I think ive not gone into ketosis as im still hungry and have no symptoms,I couldbt drink so much water cos was working in the community so will drink loads today.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 08:38

Cramp is a sign that you need potassium - avocado is very good for this

Also, get hold of some Lo Salt and use this instead of normal salt in your cooking/on your food

If you're not already taking a vit/min supplement, see if you can get one that has potassium in it - TBH I have no idea if they exist!

It's definitely to do with all the water you're drinking.

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 08:40

See here for useful advice (although you will, obviously, have to studiously ignore the higher carby foods):

"Many foods contain potassium. All meats (red meat and chicken) and fish such as salmon, cod, flounder, and sardines are good sources of potassium. Soy products and veggie burgers are also good sources of potassium.

Vegetables including broccoli, peas, lima beans, tomatoes, potatoes (especially their skins), sweet potatoes, and winter squashes are all good sources of potassium.

Fruits that contain significant sources of potassium include citrus fruits, cantaloupe, bananas, kiwi, prunes, and apricots. Dried apricots contain more potassium than fresh apricots.

Milk and yogurt, as well as nuts, are also excellent sources of potassium."

So if you're cramping, I'd try adding a few nuts as well making sure you're eating broccoli with your meat/fish.

500g down here today (total 600) so feeling positive - and definitely less hungry yesterday so that's got to be good news.

Drinking water like it's going out of fashion and still weeing all the blummin time! But must be doing some good.

Need some breakfast ideas which don't involve eggs please.....

Overall feeling a bit more positive about it all today. Onwards and um downwards (hopefully!!)

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 08:41

And here - for top ten potassium-rich foods

Jacaqueen · 20/04/2012 08:47

Thanks so much BIWI.

I was hoping you were going to order me to have a medicinal G&T. Quinine is good for cramp I hear.

NO ALCOHOL IN BOOTCAMP!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 20/04/2012 08:50

Round of applause for ledkr

I will come back later with more considered advice, ledkr, as I'm supposed to be writing my presentation not faffing around on Google!

Don't give up now, is all I'd say. And it sounds like your job is making life difficult. I really sympathise with you there, as I know what it's like when you're on the go/on the road all the time.

Post what you've eaten/drunk over the last 2-3 days for me, and I'll look at that later. Just give me a couple of hours to get this thing finished ...

BerylStreep · 20/04/2012 09:14

Yes, Lack, good luck for today!

A tip for managing all the water - yesterday I made a litre of stock with Kallo wheat free stock cubes, poured into a glass, and hey presto! It was pretty good.

The chicken one is 3.5g / cube, the beef is 2.5g/cube.

Well I have done a full week this morning, but I've lost track of all the threads so not sure where I should post it. I have lost 1.6kg from last week, which I'm pleased about. I am now lurking about the 88kg mark, which is my traditional plateau point, so if I can get below that this week I will be happy, even happier if I can get below 87kg.

BIWI this is such a good bootcamp! I am an all or nothing sort of person, and I need rules to stick to.

ShirtyKnot · 20/04/2012 09:17

Morning all!

It's my birthday today so I might have a vodka and fizzy water this evening - I know it's against the law...BUT IT'S MY BIRFDEE - surely I can get a dispensation? Grin

To be honest, I'm going to try not to go there - I want to go and re-do my Body Pump induction at 12.00 tomorrow, so I think I'd rather be daisy fresh.

So...Birthday plan for today:

Birthday Breakfast - I'm going to have 2 x boiled eggs mushed with mayo and half an avocado
Birthday Lunch - Yesterday's smoked mackerel salad.
Birthday Dinner - Chicken cacciatore, cauliflower mash, spinach/broccolli.

Took my measurements this morning as I think what with all the running I'm doing, I have a feeling the scales are not going to be my best friend on this diet...I'm 39 today and found it rather depressing that the majority of my measurements were already in their forties!

Did I mention it's my birthday? Grin Wink

slowlyburningcalories · 20/04/2012 09:23

To those presenting and doing interviews GOOD LUCK!

I think I will be one of those who needs to avoid dairy - yesterdays cheese resulted in an increase overnight (though I did have half a cow with broccoli for dinner and as yet no poo!) and I know I didn't drink enough water.

happy birthday shirtyknot

Um. Is return of libido another positive side effect of LC'ing? DH told me a diet is a good idea but that he has never seen one which requires a cooked breakfast every morning, and he also told me I had got a bit plump recently. Cheeky git.

mummyduff · 20/04/2012 09:32

Happy Birthday ShirtyKnot

I have lost a further 1lb so thats 6lb in total now Grin

I have had a hard boiled egg for breakfast and have Waitrose shop arriving any time with lots of yummy LC food.

I feel full of energy and sleeping better than ever. x x

mummyduff · 20/04/2012 09:33

And good luck to everyone doing interviews & presentations today Smile

flipflopflap · 20/04/2012 09:35

Happy Birthday Shirty, I'm sure BIWI will allow some alcohol on your birthday!

Planning a bit of a cheat this evening, going for an Italian for a good friends birthday, so I can't get out of it. Should be ok with the stuffed mushrooms if I'm extra good today. Going to try and drink more water than usual to make up for the vodka and soda I'm also planning Blush
