So it's Friday. The start of the Dangerous Days, otherwise known as the weekend.

Can I remind everyone that there is to be no alcohol during bootcamp

Tsk

Let's try that link again

flipflopflap · 22/04/2012 22:35

Welcome Londonlottie, sorry I forgot to say hello before I added my rant!

ohforfoxsake · 22/04/2012 22:39

Sharongless - me too! Have a coil in for 3+ years and no periods. But today I had what seemed like the start of one. WTF???!!

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 22/04/2012 22:41

Well done Shirl!

Hello Londonlottie Smile

londonlottie · 22/04/2012 22:44

Thanks for the hellos :) Sooooo... I'm aiming to start tomorrow morning. Plenty of low carb food in the fridge, all I need to do is stop troughing the kids leftovers which I HATE doing, even as I'm doing it.

Asking a basic question - is this a 2 week bootcamp and if so what happens afterwards?!

SharonGless · 22/04/2012 22:45

Hi londonlottie, welcome!
Well done Shirl , glad you kicked that run's butt. I know what you mean about weight loss. I have got loads of energy today and have done an hours gardening when we got home. Only just sat down after doing all he Sunday night jobs but feel one.

Ohforfoxsake - googling now to find some info. This is NOT GOOD Sad

ohforfoxsake · 22/04/2012 22:54

Please report back sharongless. It's very odd.

Am also finding things much easier and have done a lot today. Loving it Grin

SharonGless · 22/04/2012 23:05

Nothing conclusive so far but appears the fats can make hormones go a it crazy but should settle down. Off to bed as up at 530 for work tomorrow night all

LackaDAILYcarb · 23/04/2012 03:08

It's 3am and I am up with a roasting hot DS2. Tomorrow is going to be a huge challenge as I don't cope very well with being tired :(

Hello Londonlottie and welcome :)

teaandthorazine · 23/04/2012 06:58

Morning losers!

Have just weighed and unsurprisingly have put back the weight I lost. Hey ho - at least they didn't arrive with reinforcements... It's my own fault for indulging in crap over the weekend but I'm not going to dwell - onwards and downwards!

Latte protein shake made with water and double cream this am. Will take a salad into work and think I might make butternut squash soup for supper. Downing the water already.

Here's to week two Grin

MrsNouveauRichards · 23/04/2012 07:28

Morning.

Sharon and Foxsake, I too have the mirena, last week after 2-3 days I was getting really bad period pains and feeling really hormonal, but that seemed to be it, though I was expecting it any time. Interesting to see I was not the only one.

No more weight loss for me, 4lbs in total, but not surprising as I cheated a bit over the weekend. Suspect more water and less sugar is required....

FiddleDeFat · 23/04/2012 07:40

Morning, and hello londonlottie. You are joining in half way through the 2 week bootcamp, just post your starting weight here and start following BIWI's Rules. After bootcamp is over, it's up to you if you want to continue.

I will definitely be continuing for a good wee while yet as I still have a chunk of weight to lose. But I feel great, 8lbs off in the first week, no carb cravings any more, I feel pleasantly full all the time and full of energy. Only downside at the moment is that my cooker blew up yesterday, so I'm on hob based meals for the next 4 days, till it gets fixed. Sad

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 23/04/2012 07:44

londonlottie - Bootcamp is basically just me being super shirty and shouty for two weeks and pretending to be really strict with everyone.

Some people have been very good and have heeded all the rules of Bootcamp. In reality, most people (myself included) have cheated to some degree over this last week. And often with inevitable results. The aim of the two weeks of being really strict is to ensure really good results - and you can see that with those who have been super good!

After the two weeks, the idea is to relax things a little - but to still keep everyone focused on low carbing. As well as me, there are several long-term low carbers on these threads who are providing help and support - and as everyone gains more confidence, we are all supporting each other along the way. And sharing recipes, of course, on the recipe thread

Morning all. I have had a horrible weekend foodwise, it started off well but then some friends came over to help us put DD's bedroom furniture together, we'd said we'd get a takeout so I was just assuming we'd get an Indian, trouble was they'd had one the night before so they wanted pizza... seeing as they were the guests and doing us a huge favour we couldn't really say no, I had no food in the house that didn't need long and slow cooking, we were all ravenous, so Pizza Hut it was. Thin crust and I didn't eat the edges, but still... :(

Well, I paid for it, have put the 2lb I'd just lost back on, however that's a 4lb loss in total for the first week and I am back on the wagon this morning! Lots more water, methinks...

Lovecat · 23/04/2012 07:46

Just read the end of the thread properly - hope your little one's a bit better and you got some sleep, Lacka :)

Thanks for the heads-up. Weighed myself this morning; results not pretty. :( 34lb gain since July. WAAAAAHHHH. :( What the fuck is wrong with me???

BUT as of today I'm making a change. My big challenge is a) getting into the right frame of mind to start doing something about it and b) to really tackle the big issue as to why I can't seem to keep the weight off.

Off to log starting weight. Hope everyone has a good day - mine started with bacon and eggs. A bit unprepared; no cream in the house so normal coffee/milk...

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 23/04/2012 09:12

londonlottie - go shopping as soon as you can, so that you have got the right stuff in the house. You really, really have to be prepared on this way of eating!

Forget the gain. Don't focus on the past and what happened then (although understanding why it happened is always useful!). Today is the first day, so you will be looking at downward figures from now on!

Post your starting weight on the weight loss thread, and join us in week 2 chat, and we'll all keep you supported.

londonlottie · 23/04/2012 09:23

Thanks BIWI. One of my problems is that I'm so bloody well-versed in low-carb that I almost don't know where to start - other than by cutting them out in general. Have done Atkins, IPD, paleo, read loads of books including the mighty tome of Taubes, but now feeling in a spin because despite all this knowledge, am still fat and feel the need to eat compulsively. I wish it were just about knowing the facts... Confused

Instinctively right now, I don't want to eat sweeteners. Might try lacto-free instead of normal milk as I'm not sure I'm quite in the frame of mind for cream with coffee.

LackaDAILYcarb · 23/04/2012 09:35

There is a tonne of support here londonlottie (though soon hopefully it will only be half a tonne Wink) so together we can crack it. Having been disappointed in what the scales said this morning, I am definitely more encouraged reading the posts, and motivated to try harder.
The great thing about support on a thread like this, as opposed to going to a class once a week, is it's like the class is in your livingroom 24/7 :o

Don't forget to find the week 2 thread linked by BIWI

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 23/04/2012 09:43

Ah yes. I know that feeling, londonlottie. All I can say, from my own experience, is that when you realise you have to do it, somehow your head gets in the zone. I've faffed around with it for so long, I'm embarrassed to call myself a low carber, really!

There's something different that triggers the motivation for all of us. It is pointless me telling you to do it, because you need to feel it for yourself.

For me, it was the fact that I have a weekend in Rome coming up, with my DH, in June. When I realised that all I was thinking about, on Christmas Day, when he handed me this present, was what would I wear, and how would I stop my thighs chafing together in the heat? Blush

That, plus a planned fortnight in Barbados in August - with the inevitable "what will I wear by the pool/I will look like a beached whale again" dialogue in my head - was what really galvanised me to get back on the low carb wagon properly.

And this bootcamp is based on what I've pilfered from various low carb plans over the years. (With the exception of Durkan, because I think that's a very dubious approach)

But you have the advantage over many who are on this bootcamp in that you know what you're doing. You know about fat/water, etc.

New week, new start.

Welcome new people.

So I am planning to stick to boot camp rules for 4 weeks to see a shift in weight.

My motivation is working near Nice for half of July and all of Aug this year and not wanting to be the blob at the poolside, the others are all thin.

Off to week 2 thread.

moleyjoe · 27/04/2012 11:44

me too - bizarre!

moleyjoe · 27/04/2012 11:45

realized this didn't post in the right place - was referring to the bleeding despite Mirena and relatively advanced age
