Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

Hello Dukanites! Just done 5 days of attack, yesterday was protein+veg. As of this morning I'd lost 4lbs which I am really pleased with as only have another 5lbs to lose. However, we had friends over for tea today & ate sandwiches (they were egg and smoked salmon though!), scone with jam & clotted cream, choc brownie & flapjack Blush!!!! Now what should I do? Should I have a couple of protein only days or just carry on on cruise phase?

Also, getting rather constipated despite eating the oatbran every day. Only been once in the last week!! Is it ok to take something like fibogel to get things moving? I'm sure that if I could just go for a big dump then I'd lose the last 5lbs Grin!

May I join you please? I have bought the book and read it, and am planning to start Attack on Wednesday as i have social things planned before then which will involve wine and carbs.

I am slightly anxious about a couple of points - can anyone reassure me please?

  1. I usually eat lots of veg and am worried about constipation. Is it going to be really bad? the website reckons I need to do attack foro 3 days but if I don't poo in that time I'll be in trouble.
  1. I do quite a lot of exercise so am worried about collapsing for lack of carbs.
  1. I LOVE carbs and am worried about missing them, esp baked potatoes.
  1. I love wine and am thinking that it might be a wrench not to be allowed any.

Other than that, I am excited. I want to lose about 1.5 stone, which would take me to my thinnest weight for years (although still 10st 13lb). I am quite tall.

Any advice, esp on the constiptation, gratefully received.

sybilfaulty · 10/04/2011 20:04

Wow , Zeeky, 4lb off is great. Share your concern re the poo though. Hope someone will be along shortly to help us out.

stucktothesofa · 10/04/2011 20:26

I've just started Attack today. Would have helped if I'd been a bit better prepared -no oatbran or scales but I think it was the sight of me in summer clothes that spurred me into action! I know it goes against the advice in the book but I'm not going to weigh myself. I seem to have spent much of my life having my mood for the day determined by whether I'd lost or gained a pound on the morning weigh-in. I'm just going to gauge it by a pair of jeans that are too tight at the minute.
We seem to have started on a bit of a "poo" theme and it reminded me of my mother telling me whenever I was whinging about putting on a pound or two that all I needed was a "good poo". Well mother, we'd be looking at one hell of a dump if that was all I needed at the minute Blush

foreverondiet · 10/04/2011 20:42

Zeeky think fybogel would be fine, as would psylium husk. Failing that some prunes... I think once you are doing 1:1 veggies and protein it will not be a problem.

re: what to do after a blow out.... I would do 2 or 3 protein days... but you don't want to get constipated again.

I did get slightly constipated on attack, if you are prone to constipation (I am) then buy some psyllium husk. But after attack haven't really done many pure protein days - do protein for breakfast and lunch and then have a few (low carb) veggies with my protein for dinner.

I tried pig to twig and had to stop as was so constipated. I'd rather eat a few prunes though and have slightly slower weight loss than be constipated.

  1. I do quite a lot of exercise so am worried about collapsing for lack of carbs.

I am training for a triathlon and it hasn't been a problem.

Well you'll have to get over that.

As above!

Dilligaf81 · 10/04/2011 20:54

Ive been considering this but before I invest in the book etc I have one question

Can I still drink tea (proper tea with milk) ?

foreverondiet · 10/04/2011 21:01

Yes to tea with milk (provided its skimmed) and no to sugar.

stucktothesofa · 10/04/2011 21:01

Yes you can still drink tea (and coffee) with skimmed milk. Diet drinks are ok too. I found today (day 1) easier than other low carb diets I've tried as they've always forbidden coffee/proper tea and diet drinks. I can't go without coffee!

LauraNorder · 10/04/2011 21:04

So is it easier/more flexible than Pig to Twig?

stucktothesofa · 10/04/2011 21:24

I haven't tried Pig to Twig, just Atkins and the South Beach (er..I think...I've tried so many) The ban on tea/coffee and was a killer for me. Plus Atkins was so fatty it made me feel ill even though I lost weight on it. I love fatfree yoghurt and actually prefer skimmed milk to ordinary milk so I'm hoping this will be easier. No messing about counting grams of carbs etc too.

Dilligaf81 · 10/04/2011 22:29

Thank god for that, I think I could give up food as long as I could have tea. Ill get the book than.

sybilfaulty · 10/04/2011 22:38

Thanks Forever. You are right about the potatoes and the wine. It is the poo that is really troubling me though, as I know I can cope with no wine or spuds for the greater good, but not pooing makes me panic and it hasn't even happened yet.

Think I shall give it a go and can always revert to low fat / veg if the poo gets too bad.

Thanks again.

GroovyChic · 11/04/2011 12:53

Hi Everyone

I've just started this as I want to lose a stone. Day 2 today & I've so far eaten:

B - tea with skimmed milk, 2 boiled eggs and oak bran porridge with skimmed milk
L - Half a poissin and a tin of tuna

I know we can eat as much as we want but does this sound like too much? Also, is it possible to drink too much water? I have already drank 2ltrs of water today.

stucktothesofa · 11/04/2011 15:43

Halfway through day two here. Does anyone know if you can eat sugar-free jelly during Attack? I seem to recall that was one of the few "sweet" things allowed on the first days of the Atkins diet. I'm trying to re-educate my sweet tooth but it's early days and going cold turkey is really hard. No oatbran in my local Tescos either so I'll have to venture out later today and see if I can get it somewhere else otherwise I'm going to have serious toilet problems Blush

sybilfaulty · 12/04/2011 08:10

I don't know about jelly but think Muller yoghurts are ok.

AM starting tomorrow. Last supper of a baked potato with wine tonight. Any top tips? WIll get the psilluim husk in.

IS it worth doing the website thing? £98 seems a bit steep if it does not add much to the book and to you lovely ladies?

foreverondiet · 12/04/2011 09:37

Do not do the website, its a con!

My friend is GP for daily mail and she said that the advice on it is not tailored. Buy the book though, and if you need extra help thinking of meals the cookbook.

Top tip is to do big supermarket shop and buy lots of things that its ok to eat.

sybilfaulty · 12/04/2011 16:59

Have done Asha shop and now am awash with protein and fat free cottage cheese etc. Presumably things like tabasco etc are OK? Am almost looking forward to it. Hurray.

kittya · 12/04/2011 17:21

whats the fat free cottage cheese called?

Im starting it again. Ive just had four slices of toast. I will miss my toast Sad

GroovyChic · 13/04/2011 12:26

On day 4 of attack.

Weighed myself this morning and have lost 5lbs already :)

nikki1978 · 13/04/2011 13:30

Gah really annoyed! Did 5 days of attack and lost 6lbs. Then had a night out on the booze (just stuck to vodka and diet coke) and the next day ate carbs as was hungover butdidn't binge or anything and now I am back to 2.5lbs off after 8 days :(

Bugger. Doing attack again for 3 days (On 2nd now) but am very peed off. When I lost weight a few years ago I could afford one slip up a week and still lose. Apparently not anymore.

Must stick to it this time.

OP posts:
foreverondiet · 13/04/2011 13:45

nikki i don't think its a good idea to do another 3 days of attack, you need vegetables as part of healthy diet. On some diets you can afford a slip up each week, but dukan (or low carbs) not like that.

divadoll · 13/04/2011 14:12

I think that liquids is probably more of the issue here as you would have eaten carbs when dehydrated after the booze. If you flush out and start again you should be ok. I tend to find that a little slip here and there keeps you going and if you can UP the water intake afterwards you can limit the damage. Try not to get too dispondant and do another couple of days PP to kick start you. A few more days without veggies wont make that much difference and you can always take vitamins if worried. Keep going...it will go eventually.

nikki1978 · 13/04/2011 16:07

Agreed, I have learned my lesson forever! Well I did a PP day yesterday and am halfway through one today so will put the veg back in tomorrow.

Clearly in is all about fluid as I doubt eating a sandwich for breakfast, panini for lunch and two slices of garlic bread plus chicken wings for dinner could put on 4lbs overnight Hmm

Either way I now know what not to do and hey I am 2.5lbs down in a week so can't complain Grin

OP posts:
foreverondiet · 13/04/2011 16:20

Nikki - a cheat meal seems to be not too bad, esp if immediately followed by protein day - and I now eat loads of meat and veggies for main before I have the cheat dessert which limits the damage. A whole cheat day not great, but yes, you didn't really put on 4lbs overnight, its the liquids the carbs retain.
