Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

Well done Marie and keep at it ladies it really is worth it.

Thought I would nip on and post an update. I am still on a modified version of consolidation and the weight is staying off. I am feeling great and with this warm weather I feel fab with the lighter new me!

I have attempted to lose weight in the past but have always failed, I found Dukan incredibly easy to follow and the weight does come off. Don't worry if you stick for a bit that is normal, I think just increase the activity you are doing and drink more water. I did cheat a bit too tbh but I also found that it made my loss slower. I also had a break for Xmas and birthdays, occasions etc and I gained a little back then, but tbh I think having a break after you have been doing it for a while is not a bad thing as that might be why I haven't gained anything as my metabolism never really changed plus it kind of cemented that what had been lost was fat not water.

Go for it . Keep at it, you will get there and have a lovely Easter weekend.

Hi,

I hope it's OK to join? I'm going to start the Dukan Diet on Sunday. DH is taking both DD's down to visit grandparents so I have a whole week on my own (sleep!). I thought that this was a good time to start as I won't have to watch everyone else eating bread, potatoes and the like. I don't have a huge amount of weight to lose - about 8 lbs. I'm on medication that has weight gain as a side effect, and I've noticed that I gain weight far easier than I used to (although that may also be down to age?) I feel like I have to do something now to stop the weight gain carrying on. I lost 2 stone a few years ago on Weightwatchers, and managed to keep it off until having DD1, so I know I can do it.

EWeatherwax · 22/04/2011 14:03

Hi can I join to -have just brought the book - Have lost weight with the Atkins before but found he lack of veg worrying.

Have got about 5 stone to lose:O

Dreamerofdreams · 22/04/2011 21:25

Hello! Can anyone tell me if it is possible to make Dukan oatbran pancakes with low fat yoghurt instead of fromage frais? Thanks!

dontrunwithscissors · 23/04/2011 07:56

I wonder if anyone can tell me if Activia fat free yoghurts are OK to eat? I just need to get myself some oat bran now...

Dreamerofdreams · 24/04/2011 15:31

Well I made them with low fat yoghurt and didn't really like them at all, they tasted sour, which I expect is the yoghurt.
Will try them again made with the fromage frais.

dontrunwithscissors · 25/04/2011 12:25

Day 1....I'm sat here eating chicken breast slices, which I'm really not enjoying. Ho hum, I can do 5 days of this. I'll have to see the results before I can figure out whether I can continue. Are there any other suggestions for stuff you can use for lunch (ie packed lunch at work)?

Zeeky · 27/04/2011 07:48

Back from a week at my parents' where I decided to fall off the Dukan wagon spectacularly - fish & chips & icecreams at the beach, White bread, butter, potatoes, Easter eggs, cakes, puddings....you name it, I ate it!!!! BUT when I weighed when I got home I hadn't put on a single pound Shock. The last couple of days have been eating better but still had wine & choc & fruit/veg & this morning have LOST a pound - finally broke the 11st barrier!!!! Just makes no sense at all - how can I be losing weight when eating so much carbs???

divadoll · 27/04/2011 09:18

Zeeky...how much have you got to lose? It could be that you are still taking in a lot less than you used to and so not exactly shocking your system into putting it back on, but it could also be like me where you will find the next few weeks hard to lose anything as your body gets used to it again. Keep up the fluids and I find that a few days off the wagon wont hurt too much but it will be harder to lose significantly for a bit. I only want to lose another 2kg and have been stuck on and around 67kg all month :(

Zeeky · 27/04/2011 09:29

Divadoll I only had 9lb to lose. Lost the first 4 on attack phase & then nothing for next couple of weeks on cruise & then off the wagon. Was probably eating more last week than normal as lots of roast dinners & puddings as well as all the easter eggs! Was convinced i would have put on a couple of pounds just from fluid retention cos of all the extra carbs. Totally baffled by it! Unless my body is delaying & I will suddenly pile on the weight next week!!!

sybilfaulty · 30/04/2011 18:47

Is anyone still here? I lost 8lbs but then fell of te wagon last week and had some wine, party food etc.

Back again in earnest tomorrow.

AnyoneForPimms · 30/04/2011 20:31

Well done on the 8lbs. That's briliant.
I am borrowing the book from a friend and hoping to start asap.
Great to hear some good weight loss stories x

kansasmum · 01/05/2011 15:12

Hi there I am starting Dukan tomorrow. Glad ton know there are others on the plan and I can come for advice- found the Dukan website difficult to navigate and good to know the online deal (at £93 ) is NOT worth it!

I have a fridge and freezer full of meat and fish. I have 3 kids so am planning on cooking separately for them, dh is away in Florida for the week so can please myself and he won't have to put up my grumpiness(have dieted a lot and am always grumpy for first 2-3 days!).

I have to admit to being worried about constipation- I do LOVE fruit so will probably find it hard but am going to give it my best shot. Never really tried the low carb thing before as I REALLY love my carbs- but my dh has been doing a Paleo diet and has lost more than me doing Slimming world-Nothing like your dh losing more than you to spur you on!Envy

Are the oat bran galette things tasty or are they just something you learn to force down?!!

Zeeky · 02/05/2011 07:50

kansasmum I didn't like the galette things. I much prefer having the oatbran stirred into a yoghurt.

Housemum · 02/05/2011 08:19

I thought the galette was OK but not tasty - was a welcome carb addition, I had mine at lunchtimes with cottage cheese and prawns. I need to re-start though as in the last 4 weeks have not managed to stick to it - 4 birthday parties, a street party, Easter - too much temptation! Can now focuse so might try again.

sybilfaulty · 02/05/2011 08:25

I didn't mind the galette - had it with an omelette on top and some smoked salmon when I did attack. Since doing cruise I haven't been bothered and have just stirred oatbran into yoghurt. The galette is good for when you want a high protein supper and makes it quite substantial.

Am off to Asda to buy some Dukan food for te week. Sadly though DD1 got some grit in her eye yesterday and it still is red and angry so i'm not sure it's out. May have to call into A and E en route. Off for a run now though whilst it's still quiet. Wish me luck.

dukanvirgin · 02/05/2011 12:44

can i join? I started attack on saturday and so far am feeling fine. not really hungry and bizarrely not wanting carbs, even the chocolate thats in the fridge.
I lost 2 1/2lbs on my first day but this morning when i weighed in i had stayed the same, is this normal? DH says i am eating too much and thats why i haven't lost anything this morning.

I am having a galette with onken fat free vanilla yog for breakfast, snacking on ham, chicken slices and crab sticks. I have had chicken drumsticks and thighs (no skin) with a bit of cottage cheese orprawns and cottage cheese for lunch. in the evening i had homemade turkey burgers with cottage cheese (about a spoonful each time) or small thin beef steaks (3) with an egg. I had 1 muller light each day and a total 0% yoghurt before bed.

So is this too much?

I read in the book that you should eat in anticipation of being hungry during attack so you don't cave in to carbs but DH has me paranoid now. I know i am eating less than what i was on WW but DH is doing the diet aswell and because i am eating more than him, he says that i'm doing it wrong (even though i am the one who has read the book)

foreverondiet · 02/05/2011 13:25

dukanvirgin - eat as much as you need not to be hungry. I found as the diet progressed I needed less. Also make sure you drink the water, very important.

I am still here, although not doing strict dukan any more (reached target) - but still following principles, just also having some fruit (only apples and berries)... have just been on holiday for 10 days and put on 2lbs, might do a few strict dukan days this week to try and get back to my pre-holiday weight!

HeavyHeidi · 02/05/2011 14:54

Can I join too? I'm desperate.Have been eating less for months, even starving on some days and nothing. All those "oh eat just a bit less junk and sweets" suggestions don't work, as I already eat healthily. All "oh go for a walk sometimes" won't work either, as I already work out all the time anyway as well. but the weight has just been yo-yoing for months now, losing a kilo one week, gaining it back the other. Very frustrating.

I weigh 81,5 kilos as of this morning, which means that my BMI is just a couple of kilos below being officially OBESE. Ok, I'm very muscular, meaning that I don't look quite that heavy and am comfortably fitting into size 14 (even 12, if stretchy :o ). But I definitely look fat and have a wardrobe full of size 8/10 that no longer fit.. And have some family and school reunions coming up..

Just got the book this weekend and as i've never tried protein diets before, I am at the moment hoping that this might be the thing that finally works. The tricky part is that I am a pescatarean, meaning I don't eat any meat or poultry. Luckily the seafood selection in local supermarkets here is excellent.

So had eggs for breakfast, skipped lunch (forgot to take something from home and there's nothing at work the diet would allow). For dinner will probably have some nice tuna steak or grilled shrimp. Let's see..

foreverondiet · 02/05/2011 15:36

heidi - never a good idea on a diet to skip meals. You need to plan lunch at work, and if all goes wrong try and find somewhere where they sell tins of tuna or natural yoghurt. I find the easiest work lunch is 250g fat free fromage frais and a tin of tuna which might work for you..... I have the tuna in my desk drawer.... on a protein and veggie day have tuna with salad.

I think also if you are not eating meat good idea to eat tofu, quorn and lentils otherwise you'll get totally bored with fish.

sybilfaulty · 02/05/2011 15:50

I agree that it is a bad idea to skip meals. Your body will think it's being starved and hold onto the food. Far better to have a tin of tuna in your desk, or some sliced ham or something.

Dukanvirgin - welcome. I didn't follow the book in terms of weighing and just weigh myself once or maybe twice a week as it fluctuates so much, esp if I don't poo very often. Stick with it, I am back on track after a brief lapse and here for the duration Smile.

HeavyHeidi · 02/05/2011 15:57

I was not planning to skip, will be better prepared tomorrow.
The book did not recommend any soy products in attack phase, not so sure about this. Actually I don't think the boredom would be an issue, I eat all seafood, not just fish and live in france, so the choice is amazing. I do love all fruit though, so not eating this will be a challenge.

dukanvirgin · 02/05/2011 16:18

Thanks for the welcome and advice. I am definately going to stick with it. I have read DH some info from the book to shut him up. I have lost 3st 7lb on WW but kind of lost my motivation and found it too easy to cheat. I was using loads of points on just eating cake and chocolate then wondering why i was craving it all the time. After reading the dukan book, this diet does make sense and i am hoping i will be able to complete it all and finally get rid of my stodge addiction.

I have to say i am feeling good today, lots of energy and a slight high feeling so going good so far

foreverondiet · 02/05/2011 17:19

I read somewhere that he is writing a version of the diet for veggies that will include legumes... But true if you have a good choice of fish and seafood then shouldn't be a problem.

kansasmum · 02/05/2011 22:19

Well I survived day One!! have to say only felt a bit peckish once so not bad. Drank for England and spent half the day in the loo! But onwards tomorrow!

I did miss eating veg with my steak at dinner but I can survive!

The oatbran gallette was not too bad either!
Planning on scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for brekkie tomorrow though!
Will stick the oatbran in a yoghurt!
