Hey everyone,

Saw the last thread was nearly full so thought I would start a new one :)

Just waiting for my beef rogan curry to finish cooking. Smells AMAZING :) Thank god I am off attack now!

Hi everyone, back again after truly sinful holiday in Cornwall that resulted in regaining over a stone and generally putting back on all the weight I lost last time on Dukan. I am trying to work up the courage to hit attack phase again. Have started out today with a breakfast of Dukan oatbran porridge with skim milk and splenda, got half an avocado and smoked salmon for lunch and got asparagus and lean lamb chop for dinner. have a few veggies I need to use up first before going all out and also because of all the sugar I have consumed, a bit scared of 'carb crash' if I go cold turkey. reading your posts is really helping to bolster my determination and get me back on track. Well done to everyone for the fantastic weight loss, hope to be joining you soon with a weight loss story of my own Wink

HeavyHeidi · 11/05/2011 07:15

Only 100 gr yesterday, but another 0,5 kilo gone this morning, so it's working.

Fell off the wagon on Sunday - went biking and it turned into a 5 hour tour. And the hills here, the hills! It was also 30 degrees and half way through I understood what a carb craving was. I had visions of porridge and fruit, I am not kidding you, the body had used all the reserves it had and was screaming. So when I finally got home, I inhaled 2 bananas and a couple of toasts - god that was good..
Back on diet now though and as before, not finding it that difficult. Local supermarkets have a lot of different fresh cold veggie soups (gazpacho, cucumber and similar), so will certainly enjoy them on my veggie days. ALso found a fat-free fromage frais that is quite tasty (as tasty as a fat-free natural fromage frais can be).

Uncle's huge, massive 70th birthday party in a week and most people there saw me when I was quite a bit lighter, so really don't want to scare them all, so that's the current motivation.

and how is everybody else doing?

foreverondiet · 11/05/2011 09:40

Heidi - I don't think eating carbs after that amount of exercise truely is a fall off the wagon moment. I think the point is, limit the carbs to the good ones and limit the quantities to the amount you need. Sounds like you did both.

Pleased to hear you are loosing weight.

I'm finding consolidation hard.... had 2 "celebration" meals this week - one at a friends on saturday and one BBQ on Monday. And on sunday followed the consolidation rules and had a slice of wholegrain bread etc. But even after a protein day yesterday still a pound up. I am going to have a strict protein and veggie day today and if need be another protein day on thursday. Think I probably ate too much at the celebration meals!

Chelseahandfull · 11/05/2011 14:00

Hey - can I join?

Am on day 5 of attack, going for 7 days as need to lose 40 lb (arggg!), having started at 14st 2.5 at 5 ft 6 - size 18 and fed up!
Am 7 pound down, but loads of that must be water - have never peed so much as I did the first 3 days, even counting all the water I was drinking. Still, the fat % feature of my scales suggests I have lost 4lbs of fat, so fingers crossed at least some of it is real!

Was definitely feeling a bit meat-ed out after first couple of days, so have turned to cerviche, hoping that the lime juice used to marinate isn't too carby (one is allowed lemon on fish, but suspect the amount I am using is beyond garnish..... :-) )

Think I need to get a bit more imaginative about recipies, but I guess that will come with time!

HeavyHeidi · 12/05/2011 07:10

another 0.9 kilo this morning - I've lost 5 kilos in 1,5 weeks! I understand that some part of it is just water, but still, I'm finally losing weight. still loads to lose, but 5 kilos is a start. Bodypump class in the evening and got lots more to teach, this helps as well - you can't get lazy and decide not to go to the gym if you have to be in front of the class.

foreverondiet · 12/05/2011 09:11

heidi - wow, 5kg in 1.5 weeks is an amazing start! My weight loss generally stabilised at 1kg a week or even a bit less.

zaazaa · 12/05/2011 16:53

Hi Chelseahandfull, your stats are similar to mine and i have just started back again on the attack phase. Down 1.5 pounds since yesterday. can't manage any exercise as feeling too tired but did go for a brisk 30 minute walk around the park last night. I am not looking forward to getting 'meated out' either so if you have any good recipes let me know please.

Also try this website for recipes www.mydukandiet.com - it has them for all stages of the diet and good for a bit of inspiration.

Heavyheidi that is A-MAZ-ING!

foxybird · 12/05/2011 20:23

Hello everyone.

I can see some of you managed to loose a it of weight with Dukan already, good start congratulations!!

I was on Dukan for a month, shrinked visibly then went on holiday and its been a month a cant go back to Dukan... alcohol, or sweets, or simply junk food. I hate myself my weight is coming back.

I need your support and company. will start attack tomorrow.

Chelseahandfull · 12/05/2011 22:27

Hey zaazaa - lest hope we can disappear together!

Had a big meal out tonight and failed to resist wine - had 1.5 glasses. Was out with husband and hardly ever do that (we had the babysitter anyway as had a new parents' evening at new school - seized the chance!) and it was so hard to sit there and say "I won't have any - why don't you just order a glass".

Meal could have been worse - fish soup and calves liver. V proud that didn't touch the bread basket, soup croutons and cheese or the mash with main course - those were all firsts - so hopefully damage not too great!

I start on cruise tomorrow - must swot the book tonight!

AlfalfaMum · 13/05/2011 00:28

Hi :)

I'm considering trying this Dukan thing, but want to pick your brains first:
I don't eat meat, although I do eat fish, eggs, cheese etcetera... is it possible to reconcile this diet with my restrictions? Any other pescetarians doing it?

I'd like to lose at least 13lb (to bring me down to the very top of the ideal weight range for my height), have never been on a diet before but have been trying to cut out bread and cut down on guinness for the last 6 weeks. Also started C25K and do a bit of pilates.
No wieght loss at all yet, disappointingly :( although my pot belly has almost gone :)

LydiaTeapot · 13/05/2011 00:31

Hi, can I join in?

I'm on Day 5 of attack and this morning I was down 3.5lb - not expecting a massive loss in attack as I did Dukan last year (lost 2 stone, put 1 stone back on) and I've never really got back into eating loads of carbs (except chocolate) so it's not such a massive shock to my body this time round.

I checked my diary from last time I Dukaned and the most interesting thing was just how much I cheated and still lost weight! I think it will be easier this time as I've moved countries and most of my favourite biscuits etc aren't available here. Neither is Muller Light though - I'd kill for one of those orange/chocolate ones!

Looking forward to my veg at the weekend - more steak and chicken today, yawn.

LydiaTeapot · 13/05/2011 00:46

AlfalfaMum - apparently the new US version of the book has a chapter on doing the diet as a vegetarian so it's certainly possible. Do you eat tofu? That would be ok on this diet as long as it's not marinated in anything very salty.

I've been doing exercise for the first time in ages over the last couple of months (pilates and the 30day Shred) and haven't lost weight although have toned up a bit - I think you definitely need to diet and exercise together to actually lose weight, something I've tried to avoid in the past when I've dieted Blush

HeavyHeidi · 13/05/2011 06:58

Alfalfa, I'm a pescetarian too and doing fine - luckily I like all fish and seafood, so there is enough variety.

And it's working - a skirt I bought just some weeks ago is now definitely too big. Most of my old clothes are unfortunately still too small, but I'll get into them again!

I'm also in a new country and at the moment eating myself through the local yogurt selection - half of them are really nice, half of them have a really funny texture that I just can't stand, so it's trial and error. Luckily I have 2 dogs who help me with the errors. And the local seafood selection is excellent.

foreverondiet · 13/05/2011 09:43

I also eat a lot of quorn - its not specifically mentioned in the book but its low in fat and carbs and high in protein. I do eat meat though but do whole dukan days without any meat or poultry.

divadoll · 13/05/2011 11:57

Well ladies I have to say that this has been the best diet I have been on. For weight loss I did better on the Cambridge as I lost 1.5 stones in 3 weeks but not eating anything has killed my appetite for good too, so some good there. I rarely get hunger pains. My problem is sweets and biccies. This diet means I can keep my sweet tooth at bay with the yogurts and I can pig out on as much protein as I can physically eat. So many people have commented on how good I look...I have only gone from 77 to 67 kg but have dropped two whole dress sizes and my figure is so well toned now going to the gym that newbies ask if I am one of the instructors!! EGO BOOST!
I love this diet and have decided that I can now 'cheat' at weekends so long as I keep to the mainly protein days during the week with the odd veggies. I also cheat with protein bars and bananas as treats or sugar free jelly and that way my weight has stabilised. I so wish to make it down to 64 or even 63, but with the heavy classes I do at the gym I doubt that is going to happen quickly. Exercise is definitely the way to go to make a visible difference, and there is no problems with no carbs in the diet unless you are running marathons and even then there are some on here who can do THAT without too many carbs.......
Keep up the good work

HeavyHeidi · 13/05/2011 12:42

Oh Diva now you reminded me how much I still have to lose.. :(

Actually, it was in fact heavy exercise that helped me to lose the weight previously, I got qualified as Bodypump instructor some years ago and of course took all substitute classes I could find, was doing 3-4 per day sometimes and the weight just fell off - well, to be more precise, the fat did and I was incredibly toned. This is not anything I recommend for longer periods though. What classes are you doing ususally?

Hmm protein bars, good idea. and could also have some low sugar protein shakes as a treat, some of them taste very nice. Will go see in the evening what the local shops have to offer.

foreverondiet · 13/05/2011 15:10

I basically found that eating non starchy veggies in the evening did not slow down weight loss so probably only have done a total of 10 non cheat protein days after attack. So on a "protein" day had PP breakfast, lunch and snacks but had plenty of veg with my main meal - mainly low sugar veg though - spinach, mushrooms, broccoli etc.

Going forward am not going to do pure protein days - but will probably do 2 protein and veggie days every week.

In terms of me, was 8 12 this morning (56kg) and I also am toned. Am training for triathlon and am managing fine without significant amounts of carbs! Happy now on consolidation to eat carrots/parnsips/celeriac, and 2-3 fruit a day. And some dark chocolate.

AlfalfaMum · 13/05/2011 16:10

thanks Lydia, Heidi and Forever, you do bring good news :o
I adore tofu

I'm going away to Spain for a week on Monday, so I'd better order the book now and start when I get back - I'll be sharing a villa with 9 friends so probably not a good time to start a restrictive diet (or give up booze Wink)

zaazaa · 13/05/2011 21:58

Hi everyone, wow that is really some encouraging news regarding weight loss. I haven't exercised as I also feel a bit tired and have low energy when starting the Dukan but then pick up again after a week. I am hoping to start the couch to 5k programme then. I have lost another pound this morning and my tummy looks less bloated already. I would like to weigh 60kg which is a good weight for me at 5' 7" and as I am now 41, a bit scared of looking older which weight loss can do although have a round face naturally and supposedly we moon faces age well supposedly. It is nice to know that people aren't following slavishly but still losing!

zaazaa · 13/05/2011 21:59

divadoll, when did you start dieting?

Frenchchic · 13/05/2011 22:25

Hi everyone, hope it's okay if I join. Just wanted to say that I have just completed 5 days of attack but do not look like I have lost any weight. I am having a very long period at the moment and I know that will affect how much I weigh but I hoped I might SEE a bit of difference! I started cruise phase today but am a little disheartened at the lack of progress so far. I must admit that I do fall short on the water intake although I drink at least ten cups of tea a day. Can any of you lovely ladies give me any advice as want to lose 10lbs but nothing seems to be happening? Many thanks x

Dukandoit · 13/05/2011 22:47

Hi all, I just noticed the thread title and had to post......in fact I Dukan DID it last year after being inspired by an older thread and that was when I name changed to Dukandoit. I lost a stone in weight and have managed to keep it off. I feel so much better and wish you all well with your efforts.

I was part of the Onward Dukan Soldiers platoon.

LydiaTeapot · 13/05/2011 23:07

That's really encouraging Diva - I'm now just under your starting weight (76.5kg) and aiming to finish around 62kg - how long did it take you to drop 10kg? Dropping 2 dress sizes would be great too.

Alfalfa - I'd definitely leave the diet till after the holiday!

Frenchchic - when I did the diet last year I generally lost no weight the week of my period but 4lb the week after, compared to around 2lb other weeks. So the weight loss is there, it's just deferred - hang in there!

So I've lost 4lb on attack, and now into the cruise...I'm planning 4PP days and 3PV days, same days every week so I can meal plan, and always eat veggies at weekends. Makes it easier with family meals.

HeavyHeidi · 14/05/2011 07:32

Frenchchic, could it be some hidden sugar somewhere? you have to be careful with those fat-free dairy products, some will claim to be natural, but actually have 10% added sugar, as I have discovered. or maybe there is too much fat in the diet? If no then even though the diet says you can eat as much as you want, try to eat lighter in the evenings, this always helps my weightloss.

I told to Dh before I started the diet that I will buy a pair of shoes when I have lost 5kg and have just ordered the most ridiculous pair from Irregular Choice. Next pair after another 5 is dropped :) something to look forward to.

Frenchchic · 14/05/2011 09:55

Think I am in perimenopause looking at some of the other threads on here. Can't wait for period to finish so can see some results. Will keep going with cruise then, was thinking of doing one PP day followed by one PV day. Has anyone found this combo successful?
