madeinthe80z · 25/04/2026 22:11

My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

I posted in April group but to be honest I probably should be in here.

Im a new starter.

just taken my first dose,

I have lymphodema and so I will be aiming to go long and slow to address the chronic inflammation of my condition - USA are currently having some really fantastic results with low dose mounjaro (or Zepbound as they call it) and although I most definitely have weight to lose, its likely Im going to need long term low dose maintanance when I get to the other end.

Im very scared and a bit shaky after the first injection.

starting weight 92kg
height 162cm

have just started blood pressure meds (ibesarten as cant take diuretics or Ace inhibs due to lymphodema) and I have Obstructive sleep apnoea which was likely undiagnosed for 20 years, and is also linked to the inflammation of lymphodema (over 80% of primary lymphodema sufferers with lower leg LE have sleep apnoea, and when that kicked in corresponds with when I started to not sleep at night) My weight gain all began when my lymphodema started. Previosly I had been a size 8-10 all my life, until age 34 after my first pregnancy.

I dont know how many calories or what food I should be aiming for - Ive heard high fibre and protein? Is there somewhere which calculates your daily requirement

Or a free app?

madeinthe80z · 26/04/2026 17:26

Hiya @NettleTeahow are you feeling now after your first jab?

theres loads of advice out there. I have read that ChatGPT can do a pretty good job on calculating your calories and protein / fibre etc.
personally I use the nutracheck app, and lost 3 stone last year just calorie counting but have put 2 back on since Christmas, really annoyed with myself. I was really into it and fell off the wagon and just cannot get back on so I am trying this in the hope for some of the life changing results I hear so much about!

I am eating clean from tomorrow in preparation and then doing my first jab on Wednesday night so the journey is about to start…

and yep I felt the April group were 3-4 weeks ahead of me so wanted to start this one. Hopefully we can grow over the next week or so :)

I’ll join please!

Did my first jab today. Was very nervous about injecting myself, but was completely fine. Just a little bruise at the injection site.

i have lipoedema so hoping MJ will help reduce the inflammation as well as supporting weight reduction.

my lymph clinician said that the lipo clinicians were raving about the jab, so hopefully this will help us both

madeinthe80z · 27/04/2026 09:49

@GreyerbytheDay@NettleTea How have you found the first 24 hours??

OP posts:
MJNewbie2026 · 27/04/2026 09:52

I took my fist one last Tuesday and sadly feel no different!

NettleTea · 27/04/2026 16:18

I feel OK. I think my heart was a bit racey at bedtime but thats not unusual, and I had just had a hot bath. been thirsty, so am making sure I drink enough

pinkballoons90 · 27/04/2026 19:16

I’d like to join this thread please! Took my first jab this morning…aiming for around three stone loss. I put a huge amount on during pregnancy and it’s not coming off on its own (second baby!)…I’ve been feeling so
miserable about it so really hoping this gives me the boost I need. Have been feeling ok today, a bit sick and cold, but all manageable. Appetite definitely feels different (I think!?)…not sure how much is a placebo effect at this stage!! Anyone got any easy meal / snack ideas to boost protein / fibre? I’m looking after kids during the day so need super easy and convenient foods. Good luck everyone, we’ve got this!

@GreyerbytheDay@NettleTea How have you found the first 24 hours??

Generally fine. Probably eaten less than normal I think. Normally I’m coming through the door ravenous at 5pm and snacking while I make dinner. Today got to 7pm and realised I should probably eat 😁

Bit of very mild queasiness but completely manageable. The worst side effect so far has been aching muscles. My whole body has just felt sore to the touch for the last 24hrs and I slept badly last night. Subsiding now though and apparently it’s a known side effect - though not a common one.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok

I’m really hoping so 🤞

NettleTea · 27/04/2026 22:53

Im actually eating more than usual to get the 1200 they say I need on the app. I realise that I probably went over that in coffees with sugar. those teaspoons of sugar add up. I had a bit of a headache earlier but I think I was dehydrated. got to keep on top of the water. I slept pretty badly, but then thats not unusual.
tomorrow is another day

Hi, can I join this thread? I’ve just taken my first dose — it’s been sitting in the fridge since Friday. I’m on Wegovy, prescribed through VOY. I’m 5ft 1, 11 stone 8, with a BMI of 32.

Honestly, the injection didn’t hurt at all and was much easier than I expected. Fingers crossed I don’t get any major side effects as I’m at work tomorrow!

Hello @pinkballoons90 how aren’t getting on? Any side effects? Appetite suppression? I’ve just taken my first one

madeinthe80z · 28/04/2026 22:57

@ThatAgileMintBiscuitThink we did it at the same time! I dithered about for ages it was funny!

OP posts:
pinkballoons90 · Yesterday 03:49

@ThatAgileMintBiscuiti’m doing well thanks! No major side effects so far…felt a bit sick on Monday after taking it and I’ve been feeling weirdly cold and a bit fluey too, especially overnight, but all manageable. The injection felt really easy.

Today I’ve definitely felt the impact…way less food noise and I haven’t had the usual sugar cravings I get in the PM.

how’s everyone else finding it?

madeinthe80z · Yesterday 08:22

Hiya @pinkballoons90 I felt completely fine after taking it last night but my DD woke me up in the early hours and I had a short time of feeling really sick and a bit of tummy ache. Sucked a rennie and it passed after like 10 minutes so hopefully that was done and dusted!

This morning, I don’t feel 100% right but then again I am so tired with kids waking me up! I feel like my stomach is empty but I’m not racing for food. Just trying to get a couple of pints of water into me to start the day.

how is everyone else this morning?

Fivetoomany · Yesterday 12:58

Hi! I’ve had this thread on my watchlist while waiting for my pen to arrive! I was set on wanting until this evening to try and avoid any sickiness, but I thought I’d just go for it while my husband was around to jab me!
Here are my stats.

5’4
SW 84 kg
GW 57 kg

pinkballoons90 · Yesterday 13:40

Welcome @Fivetoomany!! Your stats are the same as mine :) hope you’re feeling ok after the jab. I’m on day two and feeling much better, although probably not drinking enough.

hope you’re feeling better too @madeinthe80z…I’m with you on the lack of sleep!!

Fivetoomany · Yesterday 14:18

Hey @pinkballoons90 I think placebo is a real thing as I’m not hungry at all and usually would be snacking on everything! No headaches or sickness yet, though it has only been 2 hours 😂

ByNiftyPombear · Yesterday 14:43

Hey jabbed for the first time last night. Tummy felt kind of heavy this morning and went to the toilet a few times (unusual
For me). Not hungry for breakfast at all but did eat something small. However, lunch came and maybe due to habit, I started thinking about having a bag of crisps alongside what I was eating. I didn’t but now I definitely feel hungry. Obviously early days so just hoping the food noise/appetite suppression will kick in over the next week as really built taking MJ up in my head, and don’t want to be disappointed now I’ve committed. Also have been really thirsty so making sure to hydrate.

RhannionKPSS · Yesterday 14:57

May I join? I don’t know where to start tbh.
