madeinthe80z · 25/04/2026 22:11

My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

Thanks all. Suppression is the strongest it’s been today . I’ve really had to make myself eat!

Izzydogmum · 10/05/2026 09:04

Morning all!
I have been lurking on here and wondering whether to comment or not. I decided best to get week 1 out the way then join in, hope you all don’t mind!
this is my second time on the jabs, first time got down 3st, stopped due to costs/changing jobs in Dec.
restarted last Sunday after putting on 10kg in 5 months, realised I couldn’t do it alone, so back on the jabs!
so new start! Joined the local pool/gym. Doing dog walks, and intermittent fasting.
starting weight 130.5kg
today weight 127.5kg
loss 3kg.
goal - who knows!
i know i need to intake more water, with the lack of hunger cues i am also missing drink cues? Anyone else?
hope you all are having a great weekend and here’s onwards and downwards to the next week!

NettleTea · 10/05/2026 10:15

week 3 jab this morning, week 2 weigh in. I have lost 1.3 lbs / 0.6 kg so still a downward, even though after week 1 I was hoping I guess for a little more. Its all good though, its going down, and Im in for the long haul. it looks like this is a usual pattern though.
I know I need to up my water intake so will try to address that this week

suneetime · 10/05/2026 10:32

That’s great @NettleTea A downward on the scales is always good.
Week 1 weigh in and I’m 6lbs down. Delighted with that as a kick start. Only about another 50lbs to go!!! I do jab 2 this evening. Obviously I know it’s going to slow right down and I’m here for the long haul but I’m keeping some key events I’ve got later in the year in my mind and trying to picture myself in newer smaller outfits to keep me motivated.

Welcome @Izzydogmumhaving a second timer will be really good. How did you find it first time? Did you stay on 2.5 the whole time or move up? Interested to hear your experiences :)

how do you find intermittent fasting? My husband has started with me and he feels pretty queasy sometimes when he hasn’t eaten. I thought that this drug can lower your blood sugar so it’s probably best to eat more often, but he would happily not eat till late afternoon. Also hard to get enough protein in over fewer meals and he needs so much!

lots of good weight ins coming through, well done everyone! My official weigh in is Tuesday but had a sneaky check this morning and so far I’m down another 1.5lb so fingers crossed for Tuesday :)

Hi @madeinthe80z

the first time 2.5mg didn’t give me any side affects, wasn’t super strict on calories but noticed the food noise gone so snacking which was my nemesis wasn’t an issue. When I went up to 5mg my god… I wasn’t out of the bathroom for 3 days straight the first time I did the jab, the sulphur burbs came along too. But the more I kept going and stayed on the jabs the more the side affects reduced, never got rid of the sulphur burbs though. I never went up to 7.5mg as 5mg was doing the job for me. I may go up this time though depending on how I react.

i have an app to help know when to fast and not, breakfast is not my fave meal so finding that easy enough to get through to 11.30, I am doing 11.30-7.30 as my eating window. I have joined the gym/pool to keep me busy in evenings so I don’t focus on my tummy or kitchen! Hopefully your husband can find his own balance and eating window to suit him.

Good luck with your weigh in! Sure you’ll smash it!

KittensAndCupcakes · 11/05/2026 10:27

Hello. Please may I join? I did my first jab on 2nd May and second one the day before yesterday. I haven’t had any major side effects. Possibly more headaches than usual. Had a gritty eye for a few days. Also one day when I hadn’t had lunch yet and was driving, I felt odd in a really not good way (low blood sugar?) so stopped in a lay-by and ate something I had in my bag (forgotten what, but it took away the feeling that something was wrong and I carried on).

Am drinking buckets of water and soaked linseeds and soaked chia seeds as I am paranoid about constipation. (Can highly recommend those as natural ways to avoid constipation! Be sure to soak them overnight so they have the jelly like outer coating which does the trick) It feels like my digestion is slower, but no constipation so that is fine with me.

I weighed myself after the first week and was shocked to see I’d had lost nearly 3kg though luckily no muscle mass lost (bought some of those scales which measure body composition after reading about GLPs). I have been eating regularly (4 meals per day). Main change is not snacking (literally no urge to keep popping back and forth for more nibbles) and massively upping protein to 100g+ per day. (TF for protein powder things that can be added to yogurts etc or I have no idea how I would manage to get that much protein in!!)

Phew, I’ve written a whole essay! Really grateful to all that has been shared so far as helpful to read your experiences. Bye for now!

GreyerbytheDay · 11/05/2026 22:05

Two weeks in. Third 2.5mg jab yesterday evening. I think I have been pretty lucky with the side effects so far - occasional slight feeling of queasiness and feeling a bit colder than normal but nothing much more than that. Tip above about chia seeds noted - thank you! 😁

This strength definitely seems to be working for me - suppression is good; I’m not snacking at all really. Eating three meals as normal (I need to feed DD in any case) but smaller portions and trying to prioritise protein. I have had a few treats along the way, but somehow it’s much easier to have a small amount and leave the rest, which wouldn’t have happened before. Trying to drink plenty of water - not always succeeding…

Slow and steady loss for me (relatively speaking) but I’m happy with that to reduce the risk of other issues such as hair loss. Even so, I’ve lost around half a stone over the two weeks which is amazing for me.

UntilTheVeryEnd · 12/05/2026 12:48

Hi, I would love to join in 😃 I have been mooching on several WLI threads trying to buck up the courage to take the plunge. I took my 2nd jab yesterday of 2.5mg, following the first week with a loss of 5lbs.
My BMI was 28.5 - I have about 2-3 stone to loose… I have a cruise at the end of July which partly prompted starting as none of last years holiday clothes fit anymore. Somehow 2 stone snuck on while I wasn’t looking.

I have good suppression with the jabs so far and much less food noise. I have had a very dry mouth and nausea after eating some days but not all the time, thankfully. Otherwise I feel fine on them and I’m hoping I can make some good losses between now and July.
I am really looking forward to being a part of a community of people experiencing the same thing. WLI still a bit taboo in my work and some family members.

NettleTea · 12/05/2026 12:54

Interestingly, now Ive ditched the protein shake in oat milk, and gone for proper food, the weight has dropped again. Im beginning to suspect that my body reacts badly to any kind of processed stuff, as thats not something that I would have normally eaten. So I will lay off those and see what happenes and then experiment again further down the line.

Have a lymphodema massage today, and when I woke up this morning I noticed that my ankle, which had been very swollen after I broke it in 2020 and then had inflammed / filled with lymph and hardened, had reduced in size. I also think my feet and toes look slightly better too. She said she didnt feel a difference in my legs yet but its early days and the patients she sees usually takes about 2-3 months for her to really notice. I cant aford monthly treatment from her now Im buying the MJ so Ive made a booking for 6 weeks time, and then we will see if we can stretch it to every 2 months. I feel its very useful to have alongside the medication as it helps to clear areas and maybe let the inflammation reduce down and hold, along with the compression stockings.

Ive ordered my next pen - was going to try to get up to a 5 so I could eek things out financially, but the pharmacist said to stay on the 2.5 for now. I will have to make the most of that golden dose for savings.

madeinthe80z · 12/05/2026 13:09

Have you read much about the golden dose thing? Apparently the new pens don’t include it. The ones my husband and I have definitely do have the golden dose in so I am going to buy some insulin needles to get them out. Hoping we get a few more of the old style pens. Keep having to remind myself that when I signed up for this I had no idea about the golden dose so always thought that’s the price I was paying for 4 so not really being cheated 🤣

had my 3rd jab an hour ago. Took it out of the fridge for a while beforehand and it was definitely less painful than last week when it was direct from the fridge so maybe it is a thing. I also lay down again like the first week before injecting into my thigh so could have been that too.

Welcome! Definitely good to share experiences here. I agree, still taboo and I don’t want to get into any pros and cons discussions with anyone, so I’m keeping mostly quiet. Me and my husband started at a similar time. Only told my mum and one friend who is also taking them.

OP posts:
UntilTheVeryEnd · 12/05/2026 13:38

Thank you ☺️ Ironically it was my mum that was on them first, and she was VERY keen for me to look like my pre children self again. It’s more my sister, who would scoop out my eyes with a spoon if she got wind. Like you, I don’t want to get into any arguments… it was a decision that took me ages to come to terms with and it’s not helpful listening to nay sayers.
DH is now making noises about joining me - I think he was waiting to see how I got on before taking the plunge.
I put it in perspective yesterday for him when instead of my usual 20 chicken nuggets etc from maccies (😳) I only managed a meagre half of my chicken wrap, highly unusual for me. He’s a bit more convinced of their effectiveness.

suneetime · 12/05/2026 13:59

Great to hear other people’s experiences. I haven’t told anyone yet. Probably will but wanted to see how I got on first. I have one friend on them who has only told me and one other so I may confide in her. I’ve upped my protein but still finding it quite tricky to get what I apparently should be having. I’ve still got good suppression though after jab 2 so aiming to stay on 2.5 for next month too.

pinkballoons90 · 12/05/2026 19:42

Hi all, great to see how everyone is doing and to hear from newbies too! I was disappointed not to have really lost anything of note last week after dropping 2.5kg in first week, but sticking at it and hoping a bit more comes off this week. I am going to increase to 5 next month as I feel like the food noise is creeping back in a little bit, especially towards the end of the week when I’m due an injection!

@UntilTheVeryEndI’m also keeping it super quiet…just told my parents, husband and one friend who tbh was the one who convinced me to do it after doing so well herself. As well as not wanting to get into debates with people, I also don’t want the added expectation from others that I’m going to lose loads of weight! I’d rather just go at my own pace without that added noise without anyone watching me to see if I’m losing!

just ordered my second pen from Superdrug ready for
next month…

Greenfingers37 · 12/05/2026 19:45

I’m starting tomorrow-wish me luck!

Tulipwood · 12/05/2026 19:48

I’m due my second jab on Friday and I can feel the suppression fading. Today was the first day I’ve felt hungry since my first jab.

I really can see why people say this is life changing

ByNiftyPombear · 13/05/2026 17:14

Wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. Third jab on Monday night. So far a good loss (around 6lbs). Just not been feeling it at all the last couple of days! Would say suppression is mediocre today but think it’s more mental than physical as just feel a bit fed up. I love food and always look forward to a little treat in the evening and meal times (probably why I’m having to use the WLI to be honest!) but am yet to find anything to replace that enjoyment. So kind of feel a bit flat, and like I’m living by that hideous phrase that used to knock about “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”. I’m exercising more, which I’m enjoying, and am meal planning and prepping for a bit of variety, but even then, I just don’t really want to eat it (I do because I hate waste, know I still need to eat, and have to cook for the family anyway). Sorry a bit negative so early on, just hoping for some words of wisdom and encouragement to hopefully kickstart the enthusiasm again!

KittensAndCupcakes · 13/05/2026 18:06

Hello fellow travellers

How is everyone doing? After my (smug?) message above saying I’ve had barely any side effects, I woke up this morning with a very dodgy tummy. Cue much rushing to go the loo all morning! It has settled over the course of the day, but I do hope that’s a one off. I’ve also been quite nibbly this evening, nothing tastes great, but still peckish.

@ByNiftyPombear I do know what you mean about feeling a bit flat. I did hear on some podcasts about glps and ‘anhedonia’ (I had to google it…) but I didn’t let that put me off as I was already feeling pretty ‘meh’ which I put down to middle age and generally feeling fed up at all the negativity in the news and fretting about the future (war? civil unrest? mass unemployment? university fees? nothing to enjoy on tv atm, etc etc…) Anyway, good to hear you’re enjoying exercising and hope enthusiasm finds its way back in.

@Greenfingers37 How did first jab go?

Would do more individual responses as finding everyone’s posts very interesting, but need to get into kitchen to cook for kids now. Anyway, thanks for sharing and glad to be in this group. 😊

FastingMum43 · 13/05/2026 21:11

Hello just ordered today & been approved.

I'm 44 and have 2 kids. I weigh 203lb and I'm 5ft 9.

Very nervous as my best friend got pancreatitis on the mounjaro last year when she moved to to 5mg.

I'm hoping to stay on 2.5 x

My 23 year old son administered my first jab tonight! Going above and beyond ha ha! Very curious as to how I’m going to feel tomorrow……….eeeeek! But glad to have finally started my journey and praying that side effects are minimal.

I felt a little like this last weekend. I really get enjoyment from food, struggling to get that “high” anywhere else but I suppose that’s why I’m on the jabs in the first place

Oh here’s your sister ! I have had to use senokot in quite a large dose to be able to go . I also bought lactulose. I took 6 tabs of senokot as I was desperate. It worked - and not at all bad . I think try that and then maybe get started with the fibre . I am going to start with some soaked linseeds I think or kiwis . I am like this anyway at the best of times , so was worried about constipation .

I feel a bit more flat too and a bit more irritated generally !
dis my 4th dose . Have only lost the same 5 lbs that has stayed off and stable - am hoping a whoosh will happen . Not eating much but need to get a handle on things and eat a bit better
