My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

Guys… I haven’t pooped since Saturday afternoon. Help!

I have problems in this department generally, so I include chia seeds in my diet daily (1tablespoon, soaked) which helps keep things moving.

You sound like you maybe need a bit more than that at the moment, perhaps drastic but I used to get mini enemas (can get on prime or chemists) when I was particularly challenged in that area and that always got me over the first bit. also really recommend lactulose rather than senna (always ended up with grippy pains)

Nothing worse than being unable to go to the bathroom. Hope you manage soon.

KittensAndCupcakes · 14/05/2026 07:19

@madeinthe80z Sorry to hear you have the dreaded constipation. I tend in that direction so put in place all my protections. 2 tablespoons of soaked-overnight chia and 2 of soaked linseeds plus kiwis should help if this is a theme, but for the stuff that is stuck in there atm, I reckon @mollio ’s suggestion of senokot might be your best bet.

PS I don’t work for the linseed and chia marketing board 😂 just have a history of straining since mega doses of antibiotics as a child

KittensAndCupcakes · 14/05/2026 07:37

@UntilTheVeryEnd noting your recommendation of lactulose for any future troubles

mollio · 14/05/2026 10:32

Sick as a DOG this morning - took my 4th 2.5mg does yesterday morning . I don’t think I have been drinking enough . Raging thirst today . Am taking electrolytes and water . The scale finally dropped another 1lb though so fingers crossed . I got the 5mg pen for next month - but scared now in case I’m sick . Am half thinking of counting clicks and doing less than 5

suneetime · 14/05/2026 11:14

Oh no, sorry to hear that @mollio I’d been really good with water and was getting through about 6 pints a day but I’ve let that slide the last couple of days so need to get back on it. I’d also suffered constipation but seem to be back to normal now.

the things we discuss 😂

Kitten234 · 14/05/2026 11:32

@mollio if I ever need to go up I’m going to try 3.75 instead of the 5 straight away

peonym · 14/05/2026 11:35

Hi everyone! Would love to join.

I restarted MJ after pregnancy, I took my first 2.5mg dose 3 weeks ago. I haven’t lost anything yet, maybe 1lb it’s hard to know as I just got my first postpartum period so I think that had made me fluctuate a lot.

anyway, here for the long haul again! I’m also restarting the peloton and getting back into running once I feel like my insides won’t fall out 😂

Hello all - great to find this thread as I've finally taken the plunge today and ordered my first MJ pen. I had to wait until everyone was out of the house this morning so I could take a truly depressing set of photos in front of the mirror, ordered before I could talk myself out of it, and have just had an email to say the pen is on the way, should be arriving tomorrow. I usually WFH on Thursdays and Fridays, so hopefully if I get any nasty side-effects I will at least be at home.

We've booked a holiday in Greece for the end of August, and nothing I own fits me. I look ridiculous - like an egg on legs with a huge tummy. I had to renew my passport this week, and the photo was horrible - my face is all pudgy.

Generally speaking I eat quite healthily (no meat, limited processed foods and all that jazz), but I think my portion sizes are a problem. I'm basically eating the same portions as DH and my 18 year-old gym-bunny DS. And let's just say that wine and I are not strangers, so I'm hoping MJ will curb that desire, or at least will help my willpower in the wine aisle.

Starting weight is 12st 6lbs and I'm 5'5" (I do have raised cholesterol and need to reduce that number). Goal weight - I've no idea, but 10st sounds reasonable. I'd like to get at least a stone off before we go away - that would be 1lb a week which I think is achievable.

I have told the family I'm going on a strict holiday diet from Monday, because I don't want to have to justify my decision to anyone else. Might tell DH, but he can be a bit funny about this sort of thing. He's one of those "why don't you just eat less, drink less wine and do some more exercise?" types (advice he most definitely does not follow himself I might add.)

Will have to jab as soon as the pen turns up so I won't need to hide it in the fridge, but I'm pretty nervous about it to be honest.

Apologies for blurting all that at you - I think I'm still trying to justify it to myself!

KittensAndCupcakes · 14/05/2026 16:17

@Kitten234 do they prescribe in 3.75 dose? I’d prefer to go up slowly after my dodgy tum incident which is a bit better today, but not one to repeat.

@TeamsThemeTune welcome! I hear you on portion sizes being the issue and will say that I am eating less now as don’t feel like eating bigger portions (cannot believe I have typed such a sentence - it’s def affecting my brain and not just tummy)

@peonym welcome and, whilst I’m some years beyond post partum, that was a very unpredictable time for me too so hope it all kicks in for you soon

@suneetime s@mollio yep, what we share! thank goodness it’s anonymous so we can TMI away!

Pinkandpurplehearts · 14/05/2026 16:19

Hi everyone, hope all are ok! Due to take my first injection this evening and need to lose 4 stone to get back to a sensible weight for my frame. Don’t have much time to post as have two v young kids and a v busy job but will be back soon to update with my stats etc.

Well done for taking the plunge and making this decision for yourself and your health.
I’m a very similar weight and height to you and have just started my MJ journey-first jab last night.

Also like you, my husband was a bit funny about it-I think he was worried about side effects and possible long term issues. I considered doing it on the quiet then thought, no, I’m not ashamed of admitting I need some help losing weight and I’m not asking him to pay for it!
He’s on board now so I can talk openly about it.
It’s very early days but I’m quite excited at the thought of actually feeling comfortable in my own skin!

Wishing you lots of luck and success in your journey.

Kitten234 · 14/05/2026 16:39

@KittensAndCupcakes you can’t unfortunately, I was planning on getting the small insulin needles and doing it myself

MrsBuntyS · 14/05/2026 17:12

Hi everyone can I join pls? I am SW 77kg and goal weight 58kg so nearly 20kgs to lose! I have done this before, ten years ago when living abroad on some dodgy doctor monitored diet which was miraculous but I don’t think allowed in UK.

My husband and sister (a GP) and mum have been bullying me to get on the jabs as they can see how unhappy I am at this weight. I WFH and have a disabled child, so not much time for myself over the last few years. Used to run and gym loads but that’s not really an option now.

Had first jab today, had to wait ages as there was a stock issue where I am. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis so I am used to jabbing myself weekly and am trying to get off Methotrexate, so I am hoping the MJ will also help with my inflammation.

I suffer badly already with reflux, think this is my weight and also eat too much nice rich food and wine. Am suffering from the burps which I hope will resolve! I need to persevere and stop being so lazy though so let’s GO!!!

KittensAndCupcakes · 14/05/2026 17:42

@MrsBuntyS welcome. My stats are almost identical to yours. I also have other health conditions and can say that after two jabs I have already noticed a reduction in Lymphodema swelling. Maybe that explains week one big loss and now it’s actually getting to work in the fat…

KittensAndCupcakes · 14/05/2026 17:43

@Kitten234 thank you, I wasn’t aware of being able to use other needles. I’m a bit needle phobic though been fine with the pen. As so tiny. Will be interested to hear how you get on with that.

I would love to know how to do se other needles too ( and possibly get the golden does out of the pen ) it seems so wasteful to dump it ! My 5mg pen cost me 300 euro and then 50 euro consultation monthly . It was 220 euro for the 2.5 mg pen so I can see the benefit in counting clicks if possible and doing 2.5 or 3.75 from the bigger pen . Has anyone done this before or know anything about it ?
am still sick as a dog this evening and have a headache all day . It’s a strange one , haven’t felt like this since my first dose …..hope the scales bump down

FastingMum43 · 14/05/2026 19:28

Loving reading all these ladies
Got approved by bolt yesterday, bit annoyed not shipped today so will have to wait.

For all those on 2.5mg has anyone decided to stay on that dose? X

pinkballoons90 · 14/05/2026 19:30

hello all, great to hear from so many new members starting this month! I’m at 79KG which is 4KG down from where I started at the end of April - although would add I am a few months postpartum and stopped breastfeeding before I started MJ so think a lot of this will be fluid etc - but it all counts right! I’ve got one more dose left on my 2.5 pen and my 5 pen arrived in the post today…feeling nervous at the idea of increasing my dose tbh but also as the weeks have gone on the appetite suppression has definitely weakened, so I don’t think staying on 2.5 will work for me. One thing I have been thinking though is how on earth I’ll ever come off MJ without piling weight back on!!

i am feeling better though and my big postpartum tummy is definitely going down! @peonymhope your insides start to stabilise soon 🤣

@TeamsThemeTunewell done for taking the plunge and investing in yourself - that’s all that matters! The pen I guess you’d still have to keep it in the fridge after your first dose so it might be hard to hide from…I told my husband I was doing it but we often have family round who don’t know I’m taking it so I’ve hidden my pen / needles in a non-suspicious looking bottle bag in the fridge!!

Kitten234 · 14/05/2026 20:14

@mollio @KittensAndCupcakes I haven’t done it personally with the insulin needles, but my sister has ( she’s a nurse). Think it’s just a case of ordering some small insulin needles off Amazon, popping it into the end of the pen and drawing out what you need.

There are dosage charts online, but I know one full dose is 0.6ml . I think it may be 0.5ml in some countries though . Depending on what pen you have so always check before you do it.

Pretty sure it states the ml of an dose on the front of your pen too :-)

Beware though, the golden dose can sometimes be slightly less than a full dose. This is because when you prime the pen, the drip that comes out of the needle is taken away from the golden dose . Hope this makes sense .

Oh really? I was under the impression it needs to be refrigerated before use, but once opened/used/first dose, you can keep it at room temperature (or at least <30 degrees) for 30 days. Off to read up on that...

MissMogs · 14/05/2026 21:13

Hopping on as an old timer (June 25) as I really appreciated advice when I was starting! These are the needles which were recommended to me for the golden dose. In my experience there is actually MORE than the 0.6ml for another full dose. Which has been handy if you’re moving up to the next strength pen as you can do a nice step up (just be careful as the pens get stronger as a little more liquid makes a huge difference at 12.5/15g!)

Do shop around for the best price for your next pen using Monj, and take advantage of referrals. I have a code for £100 off Numan if anyone wants it - feel free to pm me. It is technically a subscription, but you can pause it with one click at any time (and if you cancel they then offer more discounts to stay, which worked out cheaper than the cheapest on Monj for me)
Hope this helps x

Some people might have their own reasons for only wanting to weigh weekly (or less often), which I get as lots of us have got hang-ups about weight and wary of obsessing about it. But for me it’s really helped to weigh daily because I’ve been able to see quite how jumpy that line is (we’re all using apps to track, right? I use Shotsy and my line is so satisfying!) Basically I remember that feeling from weekly weigh-ins at slimming groups and how I reacted if it hadn’t gone down as much as I’d hoped or - horror - if I’d gained. But nearly a year of doing this has shown me that it actually fluctuates a lot day by day, and weighing daily means you get a better view of the overall trend rather than putting so much on what the scales might say on just one day.
Fairly recently I’ve also kept track of bowel movements because I have had periods of constipation and (maybe it’s just me) I couldn’t remember when I’d last “been” and if I should be concerned!
Overall I’d say trust in the process. There will be plateaus, that’s normal. They’re often followed by a “whoosh”.
And for those of you with more to lose, you may not notice much change early on. I had to lose 3 stone before I dropped from a 20 to an 18! But as you get smaller, you notice the changes a lot more. 5kg off 100kg doesn’t show. But 5kg off 70kg does.
Hope this helps! Good luck everyone!!

MissMogs · 14/05/2026 21:30

Other stuff you’ve probably heard…eat lots of protein…keep drinking water - a LOT! It’ll also help constipation…consider how you’d feel if you started losing some hair/hair thinning and if you want to try any of the supplements people claim help (I can’t say if any do…), now is the time to start! Some people suggest collagen, some pumpkin oil - I’m sure some research will tell you more…if you can, do try some weights/resistance training. Try and think of the body you want to end up with beyond just weighing less. Muscle will go very easily and is hard to get back!
