My first jabs arrived today. Thinking of starting Wednesday which is technically end of April but wanted to start a new group for anyone starting soon!

Nervous but kind of excited for good results. Watched a YouTube video instruction for the pen before, I might get my husband to do it for me!!

Anyone want to join me and share / support each other??

Please may I join? I ordered my first 2.5mg MJ pen yesterday and it’s arriving tomorrow. However, we have a long awaited family celebration on Saturday for our 25th wedding anniversary with a four course meal so I don’t intend to start until Sunday or Monday as I want to enjoy it!
I’ve been pondering this for months and am so excited to finally take the plunge! Nervous too though…. 🥹
CW: 12 stone 8, height 5 foot 5 inches. I’d like to lose 2 stone.
Really good to have the support of this thread!

@Needtochangeways That's fantastic. I'll be starting at the end of this week and praying for no side effects

@NeedToChangeWays well done!! My first weigh in is Friday.

how many calories is everyone aiming for daily?

madeinthe80z · 06/05/2026 09:30

@Greenfingers37 good plan - I’d make sure you have eaten well (healthily) and drank lots of water in the day(s) prior to your jab so make sure you are fully recovered from your festivities (just for the first jab until you understand your personal side effects, if any)

@Kitten234 im tracking calories but tracking more for protein. I tend to be landing somewhere between 1400 and 1700 cals per day.

did my second jab last night and it hurt! Well it didn’t hurt, it was the ‘just a scratch’ that you usually get with injections and the only thing that was different was the temp. It had been out of the fridge much longer last week and I literally didn’t feel a thing! So I’m gonna test the theory next week and see as I have read that people have reduced injection site reactions by bringing to room temp before administering.

little reaction to my second jab, similar to the first one. Some stomach cramps in the night but bearable and gone by morning

Oh and I’m freezing!! Forgot about how cold I got day after my jab last week!

Did my second jab Monday night, really struggled to eat yesterday but still sticking to 3 small meals a day (lucky have little ones at home who need feeding to keep me in routine). Woke up feeling like blood sugar levels were low this morning, fine after I’d eaten but have a persistent headache (could be hormone related though).

Have also lost 2 kgs in my first week, calorie counting - usually sticking to around 1500 cals, likewise trying to ensure the recommended % of the cals come from protein, but finding this easier said than done.

Have had son’s birthday celebrations over the weekend which I’ve managed to navigate quite well (buffet and a picnic) but he wants takeaway pizza for his actual birthday tonight and family members attending who I don’t want knowing I’m on MJ. Not sure how I’ll navigate it yet, but hoping the chaos and excitement will detract attention from what I am (or am not!) eating!

I reckon just have one or two slices of pizza , you should be ok and your family will be none the wiser ! Well done on your loss ! I did my 3rd jab this morning and have lost 5 lbs in the 2 weeks - I think initially there was water loss and I was dehydrated . Seems to have stabilised now . Would be happy enough if it continued like this !

does anyone have asthma like me ? Am pretty wheezy the past two weeks , can’t figure out if it’s connected . Comes and goes . I know MJ is supposed to help with inflammation though and I have noticed that already in my nose - much less co heated .

BareBelliedSneetch · 07/05/2026 09:22

Pen arrived yesterday and I took the first dose before bed.

not really sure what to expect now, and how quickly. I got a stomach ache within minutes, but suspect that was nerves rather than the drug acting that fast 😂

Kitten234 · 07/05/2026 10:10

My 2nd jab is due tomorrow and wow I feel so hungry today !!! Anyone else the same? Roll on tomorrow haha

NettleTea · 07/05/2026 10:13

after the massive 3.5kg loss last week, Ive put on 200gm so far - dipped on the Sunday to 98.8, then up to 90 yeasterday and 90.2 today. Im not going to get disheartedned as know this is the way it rolls. Have been on track with my target calories. Its swings and roundabouts I guess, but last night I actually slept and only woke up once which is a miracle, as Ive been waking 4+ min for the last 18 years

madeinthe80z · 07/05/2026 12:21

@BareBelliedSneetch if you’ve made it to 9am from having your jab last night with little to no symptoms, I think you are in a good place! I have got stomach cramps after my first 2 jabs but it was 5-6 hours later both times. Let us know how you get on throughout the day. I’ve only done 2 jabs but what I have found is the day after the food noise goes down a bit but I do still have some appetite but day 2 is when appetite is definitely suppressed and it’s a bit more of a struggle to eat. Sat here currently with my pot of cottage cheese trying to eat!

@Kitten234 I definitely found that on Tuesday before my 2nd jab that night. I was hungry and felt like I was constantly thinking about what I could eat / food noise was back. But I think that’s great. It gives me 6 days of peace and a day or so to exercise my will power!

@madeinthe80z I’m absolutely starving and even considering taking my jab early haha, I won’t though.

@BareBelliedSneetch I had symptoms about 8 hours after taking my first jab. Just slight headache and indigestion. It had all disappeared by the morning .

for those of you have that taken more than 1 jab, do you find suppression has improved the more you’ve taken?

Edited

I’ve only had 2 jabs but definitely the first day after second jab, I really noticed the suppression and I’ve found this week that I’m eating because I know I need to breakfast and lunch, but then feel hungry afternoon/evening. Interested to see how I feel later in the week when it begins to wear off.

Crackery · 07/05/2026 22:01

Just double checking- the pen doesn’t need kept in the fridge once you’ve started it?

NettleTea · 07/05/2026 22:18

I think it goes off after 30 days if out of fridge, but likely lasts longer if kept in there.

Holymolymoo · 07/05/2026 22:38

Posted this on the May Wegovy thread and then saw this so wanted to ask here too :) would live your feedback

Hi pls can I ask what made you go with Mounjaro over Wegovy?

Was it more based on pricing or results / side effects?

Thinking of giving WG a try, but want to give myself best chance of loss in the next 6 months for a big event - using that as motivation to finally do this.

200lbs / 90kg at 5”5 height and even top range of my healthy weight is around 145lb/65 kg so lots more to lose than I thought and want to make it as easy as possible. Have already made changes to diet and exercise and will be continuing with that.

Thanks for any replies and feedback

I went with Mounjaro because of the second agonist in the medication. I am using it because of the positive clinical trials for lymphodema as it seems, at low doses, to be addressing the chronic inflammation associated with the disease, thereby allowing two pathways for recovery - reduction in the inflammation which compresses and traps the lymph vessels causing lymphatic fluids to be removed again from the surrounding tissues, and the weight loss that everyone else experiences, which also reduces lymphatic load.

Holymolymoo · 08/05/2026 02:15

Thanks @NettleTea, hope it’s working well for you. I’ve started getting inflammation so good to know it’s helping

pinkballoons90 · 08/05/2026 06:46

@Holymolymooi went with MJ based on recommendations/ positive experiences from friends who have used it.

like you @NettleTeaI definitely don’t seem to be losing on week two. My children have been a bit unwell though so I’ve been housebound and probably moving less, which might have something to do with it!

Suppression is definitely still there, but I feel like it wears off a bit by the evening and I’ve got a bit of a “mental” craving for something sweet. To be fair, this is manageable because I can have something and then stop, I definitely feel like I’m a bit too too much. Maybe it’s habit!

Has anyone increased the dose yet?

NettleTea · 08/05/2026 10:45

I walked down to vote so hoped that 30 mins of brisk exercise might have helped. Bit constipated sadly. And I have to be careful as I have plantar facilitis so cant overdo it, but got there and back pretty well.

Kitten234 · 08/05/2026 14:46

First weigh in this morning and I’ve lost 5 pound! Really happy with that. Most of it is probably bloat and water, but it’s made me feel motivated .

2nd jab done this morning too .

Tulipwood · 09/05/2026 09:10

Im joining the May starters. I took my first dose last night after months and months of debate. Two gestational diabetes pregnancies, a family history of type 2 diabetes and being 3 stone heavier than I should be but unable to shift any has bought me here. Type 2 is a huge fear of mine.

I feel a bit queasy today, like first trimester vibes but going to get some mint tea today to hopefully help.

Great loss @Kitten234 !

madeinthe80z · 09/05/2026 11:52

@Kitten234Yey! The first week loss makes it all feel worth it doesn’t it! I’m interested what week 2 is going to bring me when I weigh in on Tuesday. First week was just over 4lb so happy with that :)

welcome @Tulipwood well done on starting! Definitely feel you on the morning sickness vibes! My symptoms have been miles away from the extremes of my pregnancies, however there is definitely a likeness there!

well done @Kitten234 Great first week. I have my first weigh in tomorrow. Been feeling ok. I’ve had an occasional wave of nausea but it goes if I have a big glass of water or eat something. Will report in tomorrow!
