Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose - thread 12!

A supportive, idea-sharing thread for those with more than 5 stone/30kg to lose. We're a mixture of newbies, nearly theres, there and maintaining and we know what it's like to have what can seem like a mountain to climb - but we also know we can do it!

Nothing is off topic except referral codes 😊

@MooBaggage They are from Etekcity. I read a PC World “top 10” review and they seemed like a good balance 😀 of detail and cost.

Hope you are having a good holiday!

@Reginaphalangeeeee, you are doing amazingly well and I am in awe of you. Now is the time to be kind to yourself - your mind and body is fighting on lots of fronts - the only way I think you need to pick yourself up is to realise just how awesome you are. A bump in your weight loss journey is not going to undo everything you have achieved so far; seven stones is fantastic!

I used https://monj.co.uk/mounjaro-price-list-non-discounted-uk/ and went with one of the providers recommended for maintenance. Oddly, Curely are not on the maintenance list now, but still come up cheap on the retail list. They don't do first order discount offers, but they give 15% off on subscription (which can be cancelled any time and has no minimum term) or 5% if you just want to order a 1 off pen.

DH is with Bolt, they are a similar price to Curely and I have used them in the past too (without issue), but he keeps having problems with them charging his card for the next pen, then asking for loads more information before finally sending the pen - usually a week to a fortnight after taking the payment! In Bolt's defence, he has a cardiac condition meaning fewer pharmacies are willing to prescribe even though his cardiologist recommended Mounjaro, so his choice is limited more by who will prescribe, rather than which is the cheapest. There is no rhyme or reason to it - Numan wouldn't prescribe him, Voy have, Bolt have, Curely won't - it's a bit of a lottery! His BMI is 29 at the moment, once he gets down to a healthy BMI he thinks his choice is going to be further limited!

Thanks @Bunnyjo

Any idea if Bolt, lotus, Curley or medicine marketplace have old style pens in 10 or 15mg recently anyone?

Bought a 12.5g from the family pharmacy and it was a new style 😢. This makes pen total 50mg. Well that is same volume as an old 10mg style pen using golden dose.
Due to costs and needing to stay on this longer than expected (I am slow loosing now). .. I am Trying to find most economical way. I am considering buying 15mg pen next and counting clicks to make it last. It would be total 60mg if new pen. That would be 6 doses and keeps costs down. I doubt I am the only one thinking this way, especially with pen design change. £50 a week is too end of what I can sustain.

No loss for me this week.
I am due on my period and I am unusually anxious, not sleeping well (likely the heat wave) and work stresses. I know non of this will help and I haven’t even managed running as so hot. Feel all out of sorts and trying to hang on to sensible eating.

Currently taking 11mg
weight loss (was 7stone before a 1 kg gain this week).
I don’t seem to loose weight in this heat.
BMI still 30.7 and I am desperate to just be ‘overweight’.

QueenOfHiraeth · 22/06/2026 19:57

@Reginaphalangeeeee I'm expecting a 15mg from SwiftDoctor tomorrow so will let you know.
I haven't posted for a while as I feel I'm just moaning now. Not managed any weight loss since late last year, just bobbing around the same point (around BMI 27). Ironically that is making my eating worse as I'm demotivated and just can't be arsed so I'm back to "starting again" every Monday which I hate. I know there's no magic wand and only I can resolve it but I'm just fed up now Sad

NewbieMJ · 22/06/2026 20:48

Not caught up but just on to say I got a 15mg pen from Medexpress this week and it is the old style - so still has a bonus dose, if this helps anyone.

Weight loss slow here, but on I plod. Like you @MooBaggage , seems to be 1 to 2 pounds off, and staying the same every alternate week/ i am 9 pounds away from being "normal" AKA out of overweight category and 103 pounds down in total. My scales say muscle mass increasing and percentage of fat going down, as well as visceral fat. My protein and water levels are increasing too, so despite the slow scales, something is happening. I'll take it!

QueenOfHiraeth · 23/06/2026 14:35

@Reginaphalangeeeee My 15mg has just arrived from SwiftDoctor and it is a good one with the old-fashioned plunger and overage for an extra dose. I have a bit in hand now due to the extra dose but I'll keep ordering 4 weekly until old pens stop

QueenOfHiraeth · 23/06/2026 19:34

@Reginaphalangeeeee I have tried to PM you in case a £10 off referral is of any interest but never sure if my PMs work and please just ignore if not wanted

RobinEllacotStrike · 23/06/2026 20:29

NSV. I’m not particularly bothered by the heat wave. After erring on the side of bloody freezing for 18 months , I’m very happy with the hot weather.

I would not have enjoyed it pre mj.

HelenDenver · 24/06/2026 07:45

Can I put the pen back in the fridge now I have started it? I’m worried about the high temperature this week as I know the pen should be at below 30C once opened.

Yes. Why do you wonder? The pens don’t have to be kept in the fridge once they are in use, but they can be.

Brilliant, thanks!

I think no matter what size I end up though, I will always feel weird in a dress - it's so not my natural habitat..!! 😁

You look amazing! I’m channeling your success as inspiration!

Another 0.5lb off here, so my BMI has moved to 26.8 and my Eufy smart scales are telling me that my body fat % and body fat mass are both now 'standard' (just!)!!! 😮Bonkers, as I was basically made of fat not so long ago.

I am a complete numpty though - just going back to the basics of small portions, more water, fewer carbs has done the trick - and adding in yoga and weights every day is already firming my stomach and legs up. It's not rocket science, is it, but I'd kind of forgotten over the past couple of months and have been grumpy things had stalled 🙄🤦‍♀️

So, must remember that the basics count and the strength stuff is important! I feel back in control and a bit embarrassed that the stats matter so much to me - but they do and are a great motivator when I see more 'green' on the Eufy scales, so will keep working on it 😊💪💪💪

Do you have a link for the Eufy scales by any chance? I love a bit of data too!

Down a pound today. I've slowed down the last 3 weeks to one pound from two pounds a week. I've just ordered a 7.5 pen and I'm thinking of doing one jab of 5 and 4 of 6.25 from it.

Do you think a dose increase of 1.25 will make any difference to me?

How long have you been on 5 and how sensitive have you been in general to dose increases? I've only started doing in between amounts since I moved into maintenance. But I was quite surprised when I jabbed 6.5 before my holiday, after a while on 5 but (also given I was on 7.5 and 10 not that long ago) that I really did notice a difference the first few days.

BUT, also, don't discount the impact this nutty weather is having on your scales. You will be retaining water and might find once things go back to being slightly less insane, you have a bit of a whoosh.

@RobinEllacotStrike same here. DH has been the one moaning about feeling hot and sweaty (and he's a normal weight!) while though I'm not exactly frosty, I'm SO much happier than I was in last year's heatwave even though I was on MJ then.

GiveMeWordGames · 24/06/2026 10:45

@HelenDenver I keep mine in the fridge all the time. I just don't see a reason not to. I take it out 1/2hr to an hour before I want to use it to make the jab easier and always make sure it doesn't get shoved to the back where it could be at risk of freezing.

Here's a link to the scales a few of us have bought: https://amzn.eu/d/04nJhLtd

Lots of data to be had!

Has anyone used Get Weightloss as a supplier? I am struggling with them to organise a particular day delivery as MJ cannot be left on my doorstep in this heat

@GiveMeWordGames I did 5 weeks on 2.5, a week on 3.75 and now I've done 10 weeks on 5. I've got 3 more weeks ahead from this 5 pen then I will do at least the first week of 5 from my 7.5 pen. By then I think I will know if I want to go up a half dose. Interesting that you noticed a real difference.

Hopefully we can all get back to normal next week when this weather breaks. The walk pad is judging me for not doing some steps in the heat!

peonym · 26/06/2026 09:00

Lost another lb, slow and steady is winning the race as I don’t feel hard done by at all (and still enjoying a couple of treats / wine each week).

im back on the peloton, and also doing a reformer Pilates weekly. Really would love to tone my arms they look like the saddest saggiest things in the world.

the heat is NOT helping the exercise, but heyho. I’m going to move up to 7,5mg next week - i hope that gives me a little boost.

Hope everyone doing well!

@peonym would you recommend reformer Pilates? I really want to do it as my back / core is rubbish, but I’m worried about attending a class and being surrounded by skinny toned people in designer gym wear!
