WeAllHaveWings · 24/06/2026 12:33

Thanks @MooBaggage !

Love the "Group" functionality we now get a notification to say a new thread has been created!

Checking in - I haven't posted on the thread for a bit, still in boring maintenance, dropped 3lbs over the last 3 weeks and back down to my lowest weight, mostly due to stress as too many things happening at home/work and instead of the usual eating my way out of it I feel a bit flat and seem to need to remember to eat which is unusual since I went into maintenance.

The heat doesn't help today I am in Scotland and the heat is 20 degrees outside, but my WFH space is currently at 26 degrees and I don't do heat! 🥵

How are you all coping in the hotter areas?

GiveMeWordGames · 24/06/2026 12:53

@WeAllHaveWings the heat definitely affects my appetite. But it also makes me retain water so yin and Yang.

As mentioned on old thread, I'm a lot happier in the heatwave than I was a year ago! I'm right in the heart of the red warning zone. My patio is at 36deg already and the bedroom was 31 when I went to bed last night. Luckily I have no work this week - joys of self employment! Lots of fans indoors, only being in the shade outside and all windows and doors, curtains and blinds on the south side of the house are shut.

Still hovering around 10st 11-12 so fairly steady.

MooBaggage · 24/06/2026 13:18

I'm on holiday in North Norfolk and although it's hot, I feel grateful there's a slight breeze and it's cooler than Manchester at the moment! We've done boat trips and there's lots of shade where we're staying - and I had a very refreshing sea swim yesterday 😍

Am eating and drinking far too much, obvs - am already looking forward to getting back into a routine on Saturday - and I've missed my yoga..! 🧘‍♀️💪💪💪

Thanks for 🧵 Moo!

@moneyjo yes, there’s quite a big difference for me between 5 - 6.25 -7.5mg.

I went up to 7.5 as highest and felt it was a lot more than 5. Then once into maintenance I stayed on 7.5 for several months but carried on slowly losing. Then went down to 6.25 for a month but still lost a bit, so cut to 5. On 5 I have been stable for 6 months.

If your loss has slowed and you’re trying all the usual stuff, could be worth a few extra clicks.

MoneyJo · 24/06/2026 16:18

Lovely new thread!

LetitGoDLP · 24/06/2026 19:39

Absolutely sweltering here, when does the coldness side effect normally kick in? Have to say I’m so glad this will be my last year being fat, will be much cooler next year.
I’m going to go ahead and buy the walking pad that was linked on the last thread, obviously extreme heat at the moment but made me realise I really need an option when I can’t go outside.

DottyMcDiet · 24/06/2026 20:25

I’ll try and keep up this time.

nailslikeknives · 24/06/2026 22:58

Thanks for the new thread @MooBaggage 👏

cheers @MooBaggage

SecondCircuit · 25/06/2026 12:06

Found the new thread - thank you Moo.

We are back from holiday and the damage is done🙁🙁

At some point before going, I nearly achieved healthy BMI (equal 25, does it count?), though not easily as the weight stagnated for a long time (month or two..).

But I’m back to overweighed as must have put on a stone or so. Food was lovely, drinks amazing and I consumed everything in rather unrestricted way though not more than the rest of family. So it is disappointing that they remain unaffected, yet I am. It clearly means that in order to lose, or even to maintain I must be mega careful with food choices. After 9 months I must say I am a bit weary and my initial enthusiasm is gone.
I jabbed right before going but did not take the MJ pen with me.

I do not dare step on the scales but can pretty well judge my gain by the clothes.

So back to plodding on. I know I will never be a skinny minnie (never has been, my usual size always between 12 and 14) but for a moment I actually had a dream to be properly and decidedly slim.

Ok, enough of moaning, the sun is out, we are slowly baking for a change😍 and summer is in full swing.

Catching up with reading all posts and sending warm hello to all newbies and seasoned losers♥️.

HelenDenver · 26/06/2026 07:06

@SecondCircuit it’s so frustrating when the rest of the family can eat the same or more and be perfectly fine weight wise, I agree. Bah!! The three blokes in the house here are all at least 6in taller than me, so that probably doesn’t help!

I hope things settle now you are back from
holidays.

SecondCircuit · 26/06/2026 08:02

That’s the thing @HelenDenver . It’s very frustrating and demotivating.
DH is slim, and he definitely ate and drank far more than me. If anything, I was at least sometimes choosing healthier options in restaurants and was still trying to avoid carbs but admit we were eating out too often and were too indulgent (but that’s the point of holidays, isn’t it?)
Yet, DH and DC happily unaltered and I am heavier by nearly 5kg (braved the scales today).

I am firmly back to my routine. Though I’ve returned with a newly developed liking of summer cocktails and we seem to have perfect weather for socialising. May the force be with me…

MooBaggage · 26/06/2026 08:03

@SecondCircuit I've been thinking about your post a lot - the battle really is endless, isn't it..?

I'm trying to see it as us now being more like the Normals though - I don't know anyone who hasn't put 0.5 - 1 stone on every now and then and grumbles about it - while I've been anywhere between 5 - 10 stone overweight in my life... But that's what Normal people do - they put about a stone on every now and then and then put a bit of effort in and lose it 🤷‍♀️

So maybe when we get to the magical Normal BMI, as you have done, that's our new fate - to bob up and down within a new range of over/under and keep working to get back to BMI 25?

You've done so brilliantly - I hope you're OK and don't get too disheartened - a few good weeks should sort out the weight gain - you can totally do it 💪💪💪

Please repeat my words back to me tomorrow morning though - we're driving back from holiday today, so I'll be weighing in the morning..... 🙈🙈🙈😬

SecondCircuit · 26/06/2026 08:27

Thank you @MooBaggage , you are of course right.
It will be a few weeks as you say and I don’t mind, I am happy with the MJ inspired slimmed food choices, I like my rotation of salmon, chicken, eggs and tarka dhal and other veg. And you are right, we need to perceive it as occasional bump that can be addressed and corrected.

Have a lovely last day of your hols⛱️ Moo.

Keep on losing and supporting each other ladies.

LetitGoDLP · 26/06/2026 10:45

@SecondCircuit holidays are definitely for enjoying, hopefully most of that weight will come off in the next week or two for you.

MooBaggage · Yesterday 07:41

Post-holiday weigh in and the scales have me at 4lbs heavier than a week ago....

No stress though - I'm thinking of it as about 3lbs of water retention as I'm feeling all puffy and swollen around my face - and I'll accept 1lb of gin-induced fat 😄

Aim this week - flush my system out with lots of water and fruit and get rid of 2lbs of water retention.

Then deal with the other 2lbs next week! Back on track and thankfully I haven't got any holidays in July and August!!

Wow @MooBaggage that’s really good for a holiday!

Wow @MooBaggage that’s really good for a holiday!

I thought it was terrible! But MJ really helps me deal with it in a constructive way, rather than think fuck it and just give up and keep drinking gin..!

We're out at friends tonight and I've told dp I'll drive, on purpose, so I'm not drinking - I feel able to be stronger, rather than cave in and suddenly it's a stone on....

Welcome back @MooBaggage .
Life is for living. It's great you had a lovely time. 4lbs will fall off in no time.

Some of us have gained 4lbs or more and we weren't on holiday!! The weather is playing havoc with body retaining water etc.
